A soft skin leather scent. I'm going to age it and see if it gets stronger. I may pass it to the Boy. It might be perfect for him! N.

I'm sad! I keep looking for a champagne scent that will work on me, and they never do. This one is no exception. Not a hint of champagne on my skin = mostly a very elegant old fashioned perfume. If you are one who loves to dress as though you lived pre-1940, this is a great perfume for you. N.

In the bottle this smelled like caramel and rich humus to me. On, it first was all wood, then moss, then dirt... And it was way too much of those things. I went off and made dinner and recently sniffed again: Oh! Now it's a rich, dark, spicy, EARTHY, caramel. Sweet but dark. Whoa. It's really lovely now - but I'm worried about that drydown. I will be letting mellow a bit, and then I'll take it out for another drive. EDIT: It's been a few months now of BLWB aging in my closet. When I apply it, it's first a very mossy scent. Kind of overwhelming. I've yet to wear it out, because I keep testing it, and wondering if it's going to stay mossy, forgetting that an hour later it smells absolutely beguiling. The drydown reminds me a lot of Tireseas's caramel/tobacco drydown. Once the moss settles down, it keeps the caramel from being too sweet. The notes blend, and the dry down is dark, sexy, sweet, sinful and rich. It makes me think of that saying about coffee, "Black as night, and sweet as sin." No coffee on the nose, but that sentiment describes the scent perfectly. Black as night, sweet as sin: Bad Luck Woman Blues. I keep meaning to swap it, but I don't think I will. N.

So I took this out for a tiny test drive - a drop on the hand - tonight. I was really pleasantly surprised! A mellow honeyed rose that was really rich while being sweet. It was also very much a Rose, without ever getting soapy (a problem for me). It smelled very.... vital. Alive. Marvelous throw. I'm looking forward to taking this one out at full slather. N.

Mr.Nancy makes me feel like I'm being given a HUGE bear hug while giggling happily. Mr.Nancy makes me smile. N.

I can't believe I didn't review this one. I wasn't going to get it. I amp sweet like nobody's business and it had caramel. Caramel is a no-go for me usually. And sandalwood? Sooo iffy. But I love tobacco... I wanted to sniff it, and I did, at at MnS and put a dab on. I liked it. THe next day I couldn't stop thinking about it. Two weeks later I go to a MnS (yes, another one!) and swap a bottle I'm not wearing for a Dark Delicacies and an vial of Tireseas. I slathered it on. In the first moments, this is all caramel, and then the sandalwood comes by and asks who's on it's turf. While sandalwood and caramel are having a catfight, tobacco steps up, takes the ringleader's mike and starts crooning a love song. The audience goes crazy and Tireseas is a big winner! I have a feeling this one is going to age well, so I'll be getting a few backups. Just GORGEOUS! N.

I tried this at a MnS yesterday, and it's one of the only BPALs I have ever had to wash off. In the bottle its' a lovely and potentially complex scent. On me? Within 5 minutes of application, it turns to vomit. A perfect fascimile of the scent of vomit. I would hazard a guess and say that something, somewhere, here doesn't like me. I think it might be the cognac. Imp of the Perverse and I did NOT get along - and it might just be one of those things where if it's a certain amount of the note it doesn't work, and if it's less, it does. I can wear Sed Non Satitata - but not Imp of the Perverse, and not this. N.

Haitian vetiver, Egyptian amber, carnation, black musk, pomegranate, patchouli, and smoked ginger. Vetiver single note. N.

I got to try this at a MnS yesterday, and I was shocked at how well behaved it was on my skin. I think I need a certain combo of caramel & sandalwood wrestling each other into submission. USually I amp sugar so high it just goes to caramel single note. That's not happening as often as it used to. Is my skin chemistry changing? Is Beth getting more judicious with the caramel? Who knows. The carmel here is really bouyed by that gorgeous bourbon vanilla. Very smooth and much more "mature" than a lot of other foody scents I've tried. Still doesn't quite slip out of "foody" and into "gourmand" for me but this is very nice. If I find myself running out of Tireseas and craving a workable caramel, I could see getting a bottle of this. N>

You may have to layer, but this seems like it might do: Kuang Shi Mandarin orange, white musk, mango, and white sandalwood. with Delight Frangipani, with rose, tuberose, and jasmine. Also, Muse Tuberose, lotus and jasmine with a hint of lime. That pomelo note in the list you provided is a kind of citrus that is closer (to my nose) to lime than to orange. N.

I don't know Miss Dior Cherie by scent, but using the search engine for what seems to be the dominate note (strawberry) I find these: Bon Vivant An effervescent blend of crystalline champagne notes and sweet strawberry. Maenad Orgiastic mayhem in the extreme: sweet strawberry and orange blossom distorted by carnation, black poppy and hibiscus. Hollywood Babylon The essence of innocence shattered: glittering Egyptian amber and heliotrope, infused with the sweetness of strawberry and vanilla - dragged into debauch by lusty red musk and a dribble of black cherry. I'm betting Hollywood Babylon & Bon Vivant would be things you'd likee. They are too sweet on me (I amp sweet to a scary degree) but are lovely in the bottle! Sweet and sophisticated at the same time. N.

What about some of the Salons? ITASÔ KANSEI NENKAN JORÔ NO FÛZOKU Osmanthus, white honey, ti leaf, hibiscus, and sugar cane. Hibiscus has this lovely fruity/rosy smell, BTW. "Ti leaf" is just another spelling for "tea leaf". THE LANTERN GHOST OF OIWA Black tea, cherry blossom, ho wood, calla lily, rice wine, and white mint. Tea, cherry blossom. THE FOX-WOMAN KUZUNOHA LEAVING HER CHILD White tea, cherry blossom, wisteria, star jasmine, and teak. Might be too floral, but might be just right, especially with the wood to hold it down a bit. Kind of like the tannins in teas do. I think Itaso seems to be the best one for you. Try hunting down a bit of it. N.

A friend let me try her bottle, and a day later I ordered it. It's on the way. In the bottle I could only smell the lime and the cake - but on, the booze and the tobacco flowered and mixed with the other. I know it sounds like a strange combination, but Mr.Nancy is simultaneously fun, and comforting, and just a little bit dangerous. You know you'd be in a world of trouble if you got on his bad side, but who could ever want to do that? I'm not a foody scent person (with the exception of Beaver Moon which I wear probably 2x a year) but I do like "gourmand" scents. This scent is too much fun, too goofy - in that comforting and slightly dangerous and oddly sexy - way to be "gourmand". "Gourmand" sounds weighty, and serious, which Mr.Nancy is not. My little taste of Mr.Nancy is almost gone, and I am waiting happily for my bottle. Wearing Mr.Nancy is like being hugging and having a deep belly laugh all at the same time. N.

In the bottle: This is in my olafactory blind spot. I can faintly smell ... something. A little funky. On: Within seconds this blossoms on my skin, a rapid unfolding of spice and musk that quickly settles down to something inbetween my all time love of Storyville and Sed Non Satiata with a hint of Smut thrown in. I've put on the tiniest bit today, so it's not got the throw of those others (though Storyville seems to have less throw on me as time goes by, though it still LASTS) but boy oh boy am I thrilled to have this bottle! A blend that mimics my unable-to-ever-have-more-of favorite, and two of my other favorite scents? All that = a very happy N. Bourbon vanilla floats at the top, with the warmth of the red musk bouying it. Waaaay at the back is the amber. I can't yet identify the petitgrain, or the galbanum, but the clove does not stand out in the slightest. It's just a bit more warmth added into the mix, while the ambergris gives that salt sex twang it's so hot at, making sure that you know that is is passionate and *sexual* love, not just a passion of the heart. It's warm though, not coldly sexual in the slightest. This love wraps you in her arms and cunt, brings you to the heights of joy, looks deep into your eyes, and knows you. Knows your flaws and opens herself up totally, with trust, love, and the deep passion of the sea. BRAVO, Lab! And BIG GINORMOUS THANKS to the imps & goblins of the Lab who so generously gave me my hearts desire! Happy Lupercalia, dear ones! N.

Dark Delicacies reminds me of Poison - a LOT. I really ought to do a side-by-side comparison, actually. I still love Poison. It's pretty much the only commercial perfume I'll wear outside of my BPAL. I have an older bottle of the parfum I got off Ebay. YUM! ETA: I found a list of notes in a perfume blog. They are: orange blossom, honey, cinnamon, coriander, pepper, plum, rosewood, rose, tuberose, wild berries, cistus labdanum, carnation, jasmine, cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, musk, vanilla, heliotrope and opopanax. N.

Given what you wrote above, I'd go for Boomslang myself. I think Temple Viper will be too frankincense-y. Saw Scaled Viper is VERY cinnamony. I can't really smell anything but that in it. Death Adder has a serious hit of vertiver, which if it's iffy on your skin, and you can get only one, then go for something that doesn't have the iffy note. I also love Western Diamondback, but if I could get ONLY ONE of the Snake Pit, it would be Boomslang. N.

Like others, I can't smell much in the bottle, on my skin though? This is the most gorgeous floral, ever. The Devil's Trumpet is the common name for the highly toxic and mythos laden plant, Datura. It grows as a weed occasionally, and when I have been lucky (or unlucky!) enough to see it, I always take a deep sniff. The floral here is definitely that heady smell - rich and ripe and almost dangerous - especially if you know of the properties that make Datura such a dangerous species to mess around with. I won't even pick the flowers - though I will always smell them. That first blast is all floral, but as I wear it, the fruit gums - richer and darker than fruit itself, like the rich sweetness of dried fruit, almost musty but more intense and richer than the fresh fruit - begins to come out. The coconut and tonka mellow out the edges of what could be a harsh scent. This also reminds me of Black Moon - sans the pear that goes to rotting fruit on my skin. Instead I am left with what I was hoping for when Black Moon came out, a mysterious womanly perfume. God, I feel sexy in this and it's only the tiniest droplet on my hand. I'm not huge into florals - I would say that my "scent profile" consists mainly of the "oriental" type scents. I love things like Snake Oil & Tezcatlipoca - earthy and heavy and rich - yet I love this. This is an "oriental" floral and shares those properties while being utterly different. In fact, it reminds me of my first favorite (and still the only commercial perfume I love) perfume: Poison. Not now - but when it first came out - that dark purple bottle, that heady fruity swirling scent that was beautiful and dangerous. I am blown away by the artistry in this scent. It conjours up images in my mind of the great moon caught in the branches of trees, of mist swirling about a Mysterious Personage, of lonely walks with a cloak wrapped figure in the distance, of empty moors, of ravens in flight, of a woman's blood red lips that turn out not to be painted with lipstick but something else far more dark and sinister. It is everything it sounds like, a Dark Delicacy indeed. N.

Very cold mint, that quickly dries down to a vanilla mint tea scent. Very Dorian like. Not necessarily my cup o' tea as I am not a huge mint person, but very lovely. I'm sure this one will be a surprise hit. N.

Habu is extremely similar to Holiday Moon. I think if you missed HM, you should pick yourself up a bottle of this and be very happy. As for me, I still have 2 bottles of HM, so I'll just hang with my decant! N.

Wow. I'm shocked. I like this! I can't believe it! Lily in perfume (less so in the true flower) tend to go to soap on my skin almost instantly. I don't even bother anymore. I got this in a recent batch of frimps and just sort of decided to try it randomly tonight. This is a gorgeous lily, without a trace of soap. Just lily and sun warmed skin. I may get a bottle. We'll see if I keep going back to the imp. Throw is really excellent too. N.

My skin amps "sweet" a lot of the time, and almond is just too sweet on my skin. Sadly for me, because I think this is a gorgeous scent. If were almond milk I could handle it. Very reminicent of other almond based scents here at BPAL, this definitely gives me the feel of the Asp that Cleopatra used to commit suicide. There' a lovely creamyness on the undertone. Almost "foody" but really more gourmand. Very lovely, even if I can't hack it. N.

This is very incense-y - and very dry at the same time. I really think this would be great on a man. There's a sweetness in the undertone though. It's beautiful, but I feel ambivelent. N.

In the bottle, this is dank and mysterious. On my skin, it's a sweet innocent Alice-like scent, strangely enough. All white florals and a hint of green beneath everything. I thought it smelled nice, if not very me. The Boy thought I smelled like Mom's Potpourri. *sigh* N.

Whoa berry! Sweet, sweet berry. Now that it's been a few hours, I have some powdery amber but no Snake Oil, a slight hit of vanilla, and berry. The Boy liked it, but I thought I smelled like a box of Mom's Potpourri (not my favorite). I'll keep my decant and wait and see. N.

I absolutely ADORE this in the bottle. Just stunning sweetness and incense and mystery. On me though, the sugar and the champaca pretty much overwhelm the blend, becoming very similar to Sugar Skull on me. Ah well. The rest of my sample will go in the oil burner or up for swaps... Or I will just hold on to it and keep hoping for a miracle.
