This was a gift from the lab, one I may not have ordered otherwise. This is lovely! It's very 'sparkly' and tingly to my nose. The pomegranite is gorgeous- fruity with no overly sweet note, hence the 'sparkly' description. It has great lasting power and stays pretty consistent on me from wet to dry. I am glad this was included in my last order and I'll hang on to it!

Beth- how do you *DO* this?! There is no bad time to wear Candy Cane...ever. It's perfect for this time of year, and when summer comes and I get all yucky feeling in the heat, I will slap some Candy Cane on me, for sure. This is gorgeous. It is pure sweet candy cane with a bit of buttermint and vanilla brushing against it. The throw and lasting power is amazing. I can't believe just how pretty this one is. I fell asleep sniffing my arm last night! I was really sleepy, but I kept taking just one more sniff. Oh, it's so good!

Wow! I HAD to include Stephanie's quote because the reason she did not like Snow Bunny is the exact reason I do! Upon my first in the bottle sniff, I said to my husband: "This reminds me of Ice Queen!" Ice Queen is my HG of BPAL. That being said, I love it's chilliness, but it's not a 'remote' chilliness, it's a warm, friendly chill- just like the cutie on the label! Yep, I love the label, too! The drydown is faintly berrylike, just a hint of pine (very faint), and I also smell a little almond. This I love SO much I will probably order more...much more!

This is one gorgeous scent! What an inspired mix of herbs, berries, wine and other good things. This just makes me happy to even put it on. It's luscious, rich and very female (not the wimpy, crybaby female, but the powerful can-do one!) This is IMHO a very grown up fragrance in spite of the sweetness. I will keep this one around and definitely order more.

Oh, this is SO lovely. The cedar stays at the forefront for me, all the way from wet to mellow drydown. There are just enough hints of the sage and bay to spice up the mix a little, but I must admit I love cedar (to me it's a happy scent), so I am glad cedar predominates. This has excellent staying power and as it was described as 'poignant', I can really understand that adjective once Lear dries and softens. It is a happy fragrance, but somehow it conjures up memories of falls, winters, and family times. Yes, made all the more poignant because our family is getting smaller due to losing some loved ones as we all do. I will keep this lovely imp in a regular rotation. It's beautiful.

Wicked and vicious! A sharp, cruel blend of lavender and pennyroyal. This is incredible! I have always loved Pennyroyal and am really bummed that I can't find it anywhere. Pure Pennyroyal oil is the BEST stuff for menstrual cramps IMHO. You just rub it into your abdominal area and it's warming and soothing. But I digress... I'm in love with this inspired combination. It doesn't have the 'bite' I thought it might, but it's still spiky and a 'notice me' kind of smell. It's refreshing and peppy. I only wished it lasted a bit longer. This may be a big bottle purchase. Great job, Beth and lab!

This is lovely, deep, and very Christmas-y. I love the inspired blending of lavender, the tonka is gorgeous, and the patchouli gives it a nice grounding. This would not be for every day for me, but I'll pull this imp out many times in the next few weeks! I'm definitely glad I ordered this.

Do I ever love this! It is SO clean and 'sparkly'. It has the remarkable ability to make my hot flashes feel better, too! It's cool, refreshing and makes me smell like I've been outside walking though an herb garden while drinking limeade. What an inspired mix- this one's definitely big bottle worthy!

Oooohhh...extremely gorgeous! To me, it's red hots- those teeny candies shaped like hearts at Valentine's. That's where the innocense ends though. This is complex, lusty and just 'womanly' to me somehow. The clove is faint, but it's cinnamony and good. A little citrus peeks through, and it reminds me also of those pomander balls people make. It's beautiful for fall!

My first initial reaction upon smelling this in the imp was "run away! run away!" It was sharp, with a serious alcoholic bite to it. Upon application and drydown, it turned softer, much softer and the sweetness of the mixture came to the surface. It still has a bit too much of the rum smell for me, though. About the only alcohol type of notes that do well on my skin are the winey ones. This was interesting and fun to try, but it will become a gift or swap to somebody.

This is a wonderfully odd scent! I ordered it, liking the fact that it sounded so 'ancient'. Upon applying it, I immediately noticed a olive-y, herbal type of waft through the air. This scent makes me feel like I'm on a hill in Jerusalem, the warm breeze swirling my hair while I sit and eat my bread and olives. It really is lovely.

Sweet, juicy and VERY complex! The lab included this in my order and I am thrilled that they did. It's another 'I wouldn't have ordered it, but I like it'. To my nose, it's mostly apricot with a hint of plum & flowers. I just wish that it had some staying power on me. That's okay- I'll just slather!

As I am not really sure what Black Palm is supposed to smell like, I have a feeling that the Black Palm is that gorgeous unidentifiable note in Intrigue. The cocoa is lovely, and to my nose, there is a faint smell of smoke or incense. It is truly beautiful, and I highly appreciate the lab sending me this 'frimp'.

Count me in as another review from someone who's family roots are in what used to be Czechoslovakia. I *had* to order Prague. Oh how lovely it is! On me, it is quite light and faint, and it is clean and fresh with a wispy floral sweet scent. The crocus is lovely, as are the lilies. This is crafted beautifully and it is a pleasure to wear when you want something light for a change. Just beautiful!

Lush, velvet-red blooms born from the blood shed in the eternal battle between Set and Horus the Avenger. Inspired by Tammy Roth. In the imp- sweet, 'thick', heavy with the promise of sweet berries. Wet- nice...a berrylike, winey sweetness, with a hint of what I suspect is the Dragon's Blood. The lotus is faint, but present enough that I notice. Drydown- soft, still sweet with a pleasant fruity note. I really like this one. The lab sent it as a 'frimp' and I am glad, glad, glad they did. This is one of the prettiest fragrances yet IMHO.

Do you ever just marvel at an imp that Beth and the lab include for free that you never would have ordered and you end up loving it? That's The Caterpillar! I was a bit worried about the vetiver, but IMHO there is no need to fear in this masterful mix. It is a warm, fuzzy kind of scent and I keep getting mental flashes of those fat wooly bear caterpillars we see each fall. This is soft, but has bite due to the patchouli. It really is a keeper. I have to say I love these surprises!

I received this as a lab gift and it's lovely! Bay Rum mixed with spicy wonderfulness I think it's a unique unisex fragrance. It's warm, comforting and makes me content. It just is a very calming scent. Thanks, lab!

Faded violets hurled into the ocean- that's how this smells. But...it's lovely. The violet is very faint, the aquatic notes are always at the forefront for me in this one. Kelp? Just a wee bit, but enough to make its presence known. I am glad I ordered this LE and even though I usually love to share, this is one I want to keep *all for me*

The Saddest, most Melancholy & Wistful BPALs
Celogrl replied to madame royale's topic in Recommendations
I second Magdalene. It's a very poignant scent, one that feels like loss. -
Rich- I feel just a little wealthier when I put this on. It conjures up images of a French courtesan (in my mind's eye at least) kind of fragrance. It's ladylike, feminine and floral. The verdict is still out as to whether I'd buy a larger bottle, but it certainly is worth keeping in a rotation. From this I get the sandalwood, and the rest is such a subtle mix to my nose that I can't distinguish anything else. It was worth trying- the drydown is very clean, and almost soapy (which I like).
-
Oh, so fleeting! This is beautiful, and interestingly enough, the only note I can pick out is a faint ginger one. This is light, ethereal and wispy. It makes me feel calm, but a wee bit melancholy. I find it interesting that BPAL scents can evoke so much. I received this imp from a kind swapper, and I'm glad she included it. It's beautiful. I applied it sparingly, and I believe I may slather on more next time to encourage this beauty to last on my skin.
-
Sparkly- I can "feel" the champagne in it! I didn't think I would like pear, but it is lovely, as is this imp the lab slipped in for free. Ultra light scents are usually not me, but I will certainly play with this a bit and see how it works. It's very subtle and pretty.

My first impression of the in the imp sniff was cherry almond, kind of like Jergens original lotion. This was a gift from the lab, and I probably would not have ordered it, but bless their hearts for including it~! I love this imp! It's definitely big bottle worthy! The cherry almond disappeared almost right away upon application and it continues to dry down into a sultry, almost spicy mix of faint almond, jasmine (also faint) and sandalwood. It's a lovely mixture that is very seductive. Not only is this a keeper, but I may up this to a 5 ml. Good job, Beth and lab!

I adore Numb! I wanted something icy and chilly, and while this has IMHO a touch of cold to it, it's mostly clean and powdery violets on me. It's a surprise, really. It's a wintry type scent I believe, but it has a comforting aura about it. I have it on at the moment, and I am having a hard time not stopping every few seconds and sniffing! The more it dries down, the richer it gets. I very much agree with the comment previously that I think this is Beth's loveliest violet yet.

Brooding, yet electric: the scent of buried secrets, roiling nightmares, the essence of the Crawling Chaos, the Father of Knives and Locusts, the Hunter in the Dark. This is the blackest of ritual incenses charged with flashes of ozone. Beautiful ozone! Maybe that's why I notice no citrus. I do notice the incense, though. This is a deep, mature scent but not as dark as I expected. It was a gift from the lab, and it's been a pleasant surprise all the way around. I will keep this imp and use it happily!
