    Eve v5

I don't have much to say about this one. I get a green, slightly soapy apple that makes me think of shampoo. It reminds me of the apple blossom note in a lot of blends. I don't like it, but it fades in about five minutes on me, so no harm done, lol.

    Hod v2

This is a lot like the released version of Hod at first (spicy, sweet, comforting, heavenly), but the drydown has a clean, perfumey white floral feel on me that makes this sharper, and it slowly starts to turn more and more to baby powder. I love the released version of Hod (in my bpal top ten), but this one seems to have something in it that isn't working for me.

What do bottles and labels look like?

How cute <3. I like that the Chocolate labels are the same as the ones in the chocolate box image on the site.

    The Kingdom of Sweets

The Kingdom of Sweets is orange pixie sticks candy on me. It's dry, powdery (not baby powdery, but definitely a dry candy powder), and candy-sweet orange. Nothing juicy about it at all. I don't get any of the mint or anything but powdery orange candy. I don't find this very wearable... too sweet, dry, and simple for me.

    Sagardoa Soap

This mostly just smells like cinnamony cider spice and not too much apple or fruit to me, but I still like this and think it's a cozy scent that's great for winter. It's slightly drying, but most bar soaps are on my skin.

    Rimmon Soap

Got a sample slice of this to test. The pom seems to work better for me in soap-form than it does in oil form (perfume oil pom turns bitter and powdery-dry on my skin). This smells tart and slightly candy-sweet, but still has a bright, juicy, fruity feel to it. It makes a good hand soap, though I do find it slightly drying.

    Ein Kuss von Krampus

I was excited to try this, because I love cocoa/chocolate scents, milk, and unusual spices. Unfortunately, I don't get much chocolate from this and the spice is very strong, but not all that unique or exciting. I don't get the woods that other people have mentioned either. For a while when I first put this on, it reminded me of Possets' Haute Love (chocolate covered ginger scent), but the spice was sharper and the chocolate not as pronounced. I don't get anything like horseradish, black pepper, mustard, or the listed notes. This is like sharp, hot ginger and a bit of cinnamon on me. After about fifteen minutes, I don't smell any chocolate and there's nothing candy-like about this scent. It's actually slightly off and soured on me, and reminds me of bpal's pukey champagne notes, oddly. It's strong and unpleasantly soured and sharply spicy on my skin. The only thing I really like about this scent is the bottle label

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

It seems like a lot more people post looking for recs than they do recommending things, so it's easy to lose posts as people add more to the mix without responding to anyone. You could try recommending some things to people . Or, if you are worried about potentially being skipped over, this is what jumps out at me when I read your previous post: Versailles: "Grand, courtly and robust: a glittering, golden scent that would do Louis XIV proud. Gilded red and gold citrus with amber, ruby roses, jasmine and orris." Because it's a scent that always reminds me of rubies and it has the old city/history thing going for it. Perhaps also - Florence: "The pearl of the Italian Renaissance. Elegant iris, bright berries, gilded amber and velvety spices." For the same reasons as Versailles, though I get less of the bright red ruby feel from it. Roses, Pearls, and Diamonds is another scent that comes to mind, only for the ruby slippers aspect. And there's the whole Illyria section for Shakespeare inspired scents, though I'm not sure which would jump out at me. Maybe one of the more spring-y scents with watery florals?

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I find these to be the bpal masculine blends with strong lavender notes: Casanova: "A rakish blend of leather, anise, lavender, bergamot and amber with tonka, lemon peel and lusty patchouli." Old Scratch: "a lavender fougere with tonka, amber, rosewood and a whiff of diabolical patchouli." Wilde: "A sophisticated traditional gentleman's cologne, with just the slightest taint of patchouli's passion, tonka bean's decadence, the philanthropy of bergamot, moss' cynicism, the sharp wit of lavender, and the hopeless romantic longing of jasmine and thyme."

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

I could really picture you smelling like Story Time at Dark Delicacies (available at darkdel.com): "Heavy oak shelving, cracked leather bindings, incense-soaked parchment, ancient inks, baneful aromatic herbs, and crumbs of spilled sugar-glazed lemon butter cookies that have been accidentally dragged from the kiddie section of the store." Dee is my favorite for a bookish scent in the GC lineup: "His scent is soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods." Maybe Jazz Funeral (for the morbid side and the musical side, and the floral gives it a romantic edge, I find): "Bittersweet bay rum, bourbon, and a host of funeral flowers with a touch of graveyard dirt, magnolia and Spanish Moss." Dragon's Bone (notes: dragon's blood resin with white sandalwood, dusty orris and crisp blondewood) or Bony Moon for a bone scent? And if you're interested in berry scents, you might want to check out Akuma, Bewitched, Blue Fire, Florence, Glasgow, Hollywood Babylon, The Jersey Devil, Red Tide, and Slippery Poppy Tincture...

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Manon, some of the ones I'd recommend based on your description and fondness for Karma: *Hunger - "Evokes sheer, unadulterated carnal lust. An undeniably warm and sensual scent. Black narcissus, orange blossoms, and vanilla." *Ravenous - "An utterly feral, thoroughly rousing perfume. Red patchouli sweetened by orange blossom." *Vixen - "Lascivious, flirtatious, and vampy as hell. A true heartbreaker's perfume. The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli." (and for more Karma-like orange-y scents, you might want to check out Polynesian Pop, Tweedledee, Meliai, & Jabberwocky) I like to recommend Voodoo as a sexy dance scent, and it could almost be in the same family as something like Karma (and I'm biased, as its one of my favorites, lol): *Voodoo - "A midnight scent, evoking images of flickering golden firelight reflecting off the sheen of glistening skin and the jerking shadows of bodies suffused with spiritual ecstasy. A deep, powerful, resonant blend of myrrh, patchouli, vetiver, lime, vanilla, pine, almond and clove." Also, I really like your artwork <3

    WILF

I agree that this definitely seems to be in the family of Snake Oil/Snake Charmer. If I didn't know better, I would have thought that someone actually put Snake Oil on me instead of WILF, except this doesn't immediately turn to a weird dirty hair smell on my skin the way that Snake Oil does. I get lots of heated, heavy red musk, sweet & creamy vanilla, and touches of sexy, dark resins. The scent goes through a phase where I'm getting hints of a cool mint (no chocolate, though) that adds a very medicinal feel to the blend for me. But then the mint disappears after fifteen minutes and is replaced with hints of a dirty, earthy patchouli and smoke that I'm really liking. So this goes from being Snake Oil-but-better to medicinal Snake Oil to Snake Oil with a slap of patchouli and incense smoke. I like it. This also is super-strong and has tons of throw.

    Winter Solstice Lunar Eclipse

I was pretty hopeful for this, as I like almost all of the listed notes. The overall scent smells very muddled and cheap on me, though. It smells of sharp, chemically, drugstore floral perfume, but also is reminiscent of cheap potpourri and has a medicinal edge that turns soapy in the drydown. Everything that could go wrong here seems to turn on my skin. Sharp white floral, something that turns cloying sweet, and something that smells sharp, dry, and soapy, like dryer sheets. Blech. It's hard for me to pick out any one note here. It's a little white floral, a little musky, a little sweet berry, but mostly just bad, sharp, and soapy... I can't pick out anything like red musk, rose, or patchouli, and those are usually strong on my skin.

    fizzy, sorta carbonated, sparkling blends?

Polynesian Pop is my favorite fizzy scent. It's like cool creamsicles and tons of fizzy sprite on my skin.

    Wolf Moon 2011

I like this better than the previous two Wolf Moons (which were total fail on me), but I still don't really like this blend. It smells like a lot of other snow blends to me (cool, slushy, slightly sweet aquatic) with an extra bit of a dry, perfumey edge that turns slightly powdery on my skin. It's okay, but I don't see myself ever really wearing this.
  16. Little Bird

    Pink Champagne

Very fizzy champagne with that sour/pukey edge that turns me off from these scents. As it dries down, I get a strawberry candy smell along with the boozy qualities, and a bit of a soapy edge. And after fifteen minutes, there's just a hint of a clean smell left on my skin. This one fades super-fast on me.
  17. Little Bird

    Sparkling Apple Cider

This starts off as fizz and a hint of clean apple and quickly dries down to dry laundry soap powder and a hint of floral-y apple. Soapy and not so much on the apple or cider... this one only lasts about a half hour on my skin as well.

    Champagne and Party Hats

I don't seem to really get along well with bpal's champagne note. I think that this is the only "Champagne and-" scent that has even come close to working on me, though. This starts off as mostly fizzy, slightly sour champagne on me, and then goes through a stage of dry cakiness and buttery vanilla with hints of fizz, and then dries down to a faint booze and cleansers smell on my skin. It only lasts about an hour on me, though I do like its foodier stages. I don't need to track down more of this, but I might keep my decant and see if it gets any foodier with aging.

What do bottles and labels look like?

The labels are the same as the pics posted for them on their sale page on the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab site. I can't take pictures at the moment, but all of the bottles I have from that series have the black & white sketch type images from the site and then a bit of pink and black text.

    Villa Diodati

As usual, I really like this room spray. I'm a huge fan of bptp room sprays and love that they do incense, leather, and more exotic type scents that are harder to find in a room fragrance from other companies. I also love that the scents are a lot stronger and longer lasting than the ones that I get from places like Bath & Body Works. My first thought with Villa Diodati was "Old Spice." It smells masculine-spicy, a bit perfumey, and a bit of dry woods, which is all very warm and cozy to me. It goes through a phase where it smells so much like dusty wood (but in a good way, somehow) and sweet incense that I feel like I'm strolling through an ancient church temple. This is more spicy and somehow more bright & sunny smelling than a lot of the incense/woods scents that I already have from bptp. If this were released, I would buy some for sure, most likely to spray on my husband's shoes and jackets. <3

    Holiday Stress Relief Massage Oil

I'm sososo happy that Holiday Stress Relief was put in a more affordable massage oil form this year. The massage oil is strong on me, somehow even stronger than the perfume oil version. I can wear this as a perfume and it lasts for about six hours and has decent throw, which makes me insanely happy, because I love this scent. Oddly, I get a little more lavender and amber from the bath oil, and this smells a bit smoother and not as geranium heavy on me as the perfume oil. It's still mostly geranium, just not quite as intense somehow, a bit sweeter and softer. The mint adds a bit of sweetness to the spicy herbal geranium and the lavender smooths out the edges. So pretty and calming <3. I'm very glad to have a bottle of this and wonder if I should have ordered two or three... ETA: It is a good thing that I didn't order backup bottles of this, because this went off and very sour before I could use up the whole thing (which didn't happen with the perfume oil version). I wound up pitching the rest of the bottle.

    Stress Relief Elixir

I'm really surprised that I haven't reviewed this yet, as it's been one of my favorite soothing scents for a while now. It looks like I've just reviewed the bath oil so far, though. This perfume oil smells like the Holiday Stress Relief bath oil, except I get hints of the lavender and amber from the bath oil and this is more powdery, sweet spearmint and tons of rose geranium all the time <3. I normally don't like mint or herbal blends, but something about this is just sooo calming and dreamy. I love the geranium's spicy green smell, and its softened perfectly by the sweetness of the mint. Smelling this is like an instant spa visit...

    Vespers Atmosphere Spray

I think that this scent is really masculine, wild, and sexy. It conjures up images of cowboys, old wooden saloons, and chases on horseback through shadowy pine forests. There's a delicious mix here that smells like spicy black pepper and sweet cola to me, over the dry woods (kinda like cedar chips) and a tiny hint of sweet pine that keeps it from smelling too dry to me. It's foresty, spicy, masculine, and just sweet and warm enough for me to really love it. I love masculine type room scents, and this one is swoon-worthy for me <3.

    The British Blondes Atmosphere Spray

My first thought when I sprayed this was, "Sephora!" This smells exactly like the scent that I always pick up on when I walk into a Sephora store. It's like expensive, perfumey musks, sweet and delicate powders, and whispers of sweet vanillas twisting through everything. The husband and I are staying in a large-ish bedroom at my in-laws' house while our new home is being built, and one little spritz of this filled the whole room with tons of glorious scent that has lasted over 16 hours now. I was amused when my husband got home last night, walked into our room, and instantly said, "Why does our room smell like Sephora? What did you order?" Sephora makes him nervous, lol. Anyhow. This stuff is amazing. I'd have a hard time picking just one bptp room spray if I could only have one, but this one would definitely be in the running for most favorite. It smells so expensive, classy, and vanilla-y. This is going to be one that I spray on my shoes and jackets quite a bit. :love!:

    Cranberry Cookie Bark Bath Oil

This bath oil is just a heavenly, foodie dream. I love the scent so much that I keep dabbing it on as a perfume (the scent is really strong and has tons of throw at first, and lasts for a couple hours that way). It really does smell like sweet, crumbly cookies, oodles of creamy white chocolate, and a hint of mellow fruitiness that makes me think of cherry. I was worried about the fruity parts being too sweet or too tart, but it's a subdued, cheerful, creamy scent overall. I get a hint of a hard candy feel at first, but it never smells outright minty to me. In the bath, this is like bathing in creamy white chocolate and swirls of cherry cream. It's almost impossible for me to be in a bad mood when I'm smelling this. My husband usually hates foodie scents and says they're buttery smelling to him, but he even liked this bath oil. Cranberry Cookie Bark actually layers really well with my all-time favorite bpal, White Chocolate & Strawberry <3. I'm very happy that I decided to just take the plunge and order a bottle of this.
