This is mostly pineapple in the vial (reminded me of Upa Upa), mostly super-sweet cherry (almond) on my skin at first, and then mostly peach in the drydown. Something in here also smells slightly green on me, like a hint of dandelion at first and then like a hint of fuzzy peach leaves in the drydown. Mahana is just kind of boring on me. It's a slightly plastic-y, clean peach note and not much else

Splatter Comedy is one of my favorite scents, but this blend makes me feel kinda sick. The banana smells similar to Splatter Comedy in the vial, but the other notes don't seem to soften it in this blend. It's slightly powdery, artificial, banana hard candies with a slightly spicy, plastic-y, boozy undertone and a really perfumey, almost smoky sharpness. Much like Aremata-Popoa, this just smells so strongly chemical-y to me and it gives me a headache. Artificial banana flavoring and markers with a splash of really bad booze and melted plastic? Blech.

I think that this is my favorite of the new Luau scents. It smells so sparkly, fizzy, and sweet, and reminds me of Sprite. It's like Sprite mixed with sweet orange juice and awesomeness <3. Something in the drydown reminds me of the cool vanilla-ish note in Black Opal as well (which makes this like fizzy orange creamsicles on my skin, but better and less foodie than that sounds). The blend is sweet, but not cloying at all, and I just love the fresh fizziness. This doesn't really smell boozy on me either. Bubbly, sweet, refreshing, and playful . I'm going to be getting a full bottle of this in my next order.

I was excited to try this, because I'm a sucker for any scent that mentions tea. I'm not really liking this scent, though. I don't smell any tea, but I definitely smell the berry and rum. The rum is warm and smooth, and the berry is tart and a bit dry (not a juicy berry, but a bit on the sweeter side of things). I can't really pick out the anise that other people have mentioned. It's a tart, sweet, strong, chemical sort of berry (maybe like berry scented markers on me) with a silky, warm, boozy note that's almost a bit caramelized smelling on my skin. It doesn't really remind of the other blackberry scents I've tried from bpal. It's so artifical and chemical-y that it starts to give me a vicious headache after a while. I almost got a full bottle of this one, but I'm glad that I just went with an imp, because this version of blackberry and rum isn't working for me, and the tea is nowhere to be found. A bit too tart and a bit chemical-sweet in a way that turns my stomach

Recommend a scent for a specific dress or outfit

I agree with White Rose and/or Antique Lace for the lovely wedding dress. Something about the dress and playful quality of it also makes me think of Eat Me. And wedding dresses always seem like they could smell like Dorian or Alice to me for some reason (maybe because they both strike me as being kinda clean, innocent, elegant, and sweet)... -
Help me find scents to fit an era or different decades: 1800's,1900's, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and so on...

I agree with Stardust for an 80s scent. When I read "dust bowl," I thought of Scarecrow. And my mom always complains that Depraved reminds her of the 60s whenever I wear it, lol. -

BPTP (Hair Gloss, Atmo, Bath Oil) to BPAL Similarities/Reccs

There's a review thread for Boot Hill in the Black Phoenix Trading Post / The Kitchen Sink reviews section. I get a lot of leather from Boot Hill, and it seems that all of the other reviewers find it to be mainly a leather scent as well. I think that it's most similar to bpal's Quincey Morris and Brom Bones perfume oils (almost like a mix of the two with some added oomph), which were both limited editions... There are a lot of great leather scents available in the general catalogue right now that you might want to try, though (Dee, The Black Tower, The Bow & Crown of Conquest, The Buggre Alle This Bible, The Black Rider, The Red Rider, and The White Rider)... If you're looking for a masculine aquatic, though, you might want to try something like A Fit of Artistic Enthusiasm or Caliban. -
I love this scent. It reminds me of apple cider, but apple cider mixed with green and white tea for summer. The tea makes it a smoother, cooler, more watery sort of blend. It has a clean edge, but it's not soapy at all. Refreshing and lovely. I had my husband smell this on me and he said, "Mmm. Pretty spices." I don't get anything like tobacco or resins from this scent at all. It starts off like apple cider with hints of tea and then dries down to sweet tea with hints of apple cider. I kinda want to drink it. Apple cider all cleaned up with a refreshing twist for summer. I don't know why I get that impression, but that's what it is on my skin. I love this and can see myself wearing it a lot over the summer and fall

This has an odd, sharp, chemical-boozy harshness to it when first applied, but it dries down to something like cherry & grape cough syrup and tons of sweet pineapple syrup on my skin. I like a lot of the lab's boozy scents, but the sweetness here is cloying and it's just a bit too fruity and sweet for me.

I agree with the almond and amber mentions, because this goes on smelling like sickly sweet, red, maraschino cherry syrup (which almond notes often translate to for some reason) and baby powder (which is what bpal's amber note usually turn to on my skin). I was hating it, but after about 10 minutes, the sweetness calms down and the scent softens a lot. It's still a little too powdery for my tastes, but there's a warm, gentle, foodie sort of spiciness and something sweet and creamy-vanilla smelling underneath the powder that I'm enjoying. I didn't have too much of this to test, but it only lasted about an hour on my skin and was pretty subtle after about a half hour...

I think that there's ozone or aquatic in this, because it goes pretty soapy on my skin. It has a fresh, green, plant-y sort of quality to it that I kinda like, but the soapiness bothers me. PX72 is like garden fresh scented dryer sheets on me...

I really like the released version of Soothing System (which smells like grape juice and grape flavored bubble gum on me). The prototype goes on smelling like grape cough syrup on me with an extra spoonful of sugar, and dries down to something slightly less medicinal and even sweeter. It's sweeter than the released version, to the point of being cloying on my skin.

This is a warm, heavy, musky, dark scent on me. I can agree with the red musk that other reviewers have mentioned, but this is a bit sharper and darker than red musk usually is on my skin. The drydown is like damp, bitter woods, red musk, and a spritz of heavy men's cologne that reminds me of black musk. I wish that I got the resins and vanillas, but this is mostly perfumey and heavy on my skin...

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I'd recommend Mary Read, Port Royal, and Jolly Roger for similar wood-and-aquatic type scents. Toad Hall is like salty aquatic and dark, dry, slightly smoky wood on my skin. -
This smells like holiday spice potpourri on my skin. It makes me think of cinnamon sticks and cider, but more just the cider spices and not really any fruitiness to speak of. It's too spicy for me and made my wrists red and itchy where I applied the oil. I'd use this as a room scent, but not as a personal perfume, though my skin chemistry does amp up spice notes...

I wish that I got the fizz, gin, or sweetness that other reviews have mentioned. On me, this pretty much smells just like lemon scented dish soap. It's a bit sweet and makes me think of soap bubbles, but still... dish soap. In the drydown, it takes on a fruity shampoo sort of edge that reminds me of bpal's apple blossom note. Too soapy for me.
-
This smells interesting and fall-like, but probably isn't something that I'd actually wear. It's like a bonfire, maple syrup, and cider-cinnamon... sweet, spicy, and smoky. I get a little bit of that mesquite bbq wood planks smell that I sometimes pick up on from a certain type of bpal's vetiver notes. Fall bbq.

This is mostly a clean, generic men's cologne sort of smell on me. It's slightly soapy, but not awful, and has that sweet, frosty lemon citrus smell that I get from a lot of men's fragrances. As it dries down, there's a hint of something like earthy, dark, dry woods underneath the men's cologne, and it doesn't smell quite right paired with the clean aspects for me. There are definitely masculine/clean blends that I like more than this'n.

The released version of Eat Me is one of my favorite perfumes (at least in my bpal top three - and maybe my favorite bpal ever). I think that it's brilliant and unique. I love the bold, fruity, sweet black currant and the rich, heavy, creamy cakiness of it. I find it to be darker, sweeter, heavier, and more cakey than this prototype version. Released Eat Me is like dark black currant jam and the most delicious, rich, white cake and frosting with an edge of something like dark incense. Eat Me v6 is like a croisant/breakfast pastry with bright cherry jam. It actually smells like a less buttery and less rosy The Knave of Hearts on me, or a bit like a less spicy Crumpet Rebellion with cherry jam. The foodie/pastry side doesn't smell like cake at all to me. It's not sweet enough to be cake and has a sort of golden, toasted quality to it. And the scent dries down to almost all fruity jam smell that's a bit too fruity-sweet for me. I love the released version and think that it's more unique and interesting than this blend is. The released version is more complex and wearable for me, where the cherry/fruity jam of this one is almost cloying and too simple for me as it dries down.

I get the sweet lime and watery cucumber at first, but the drydown of this is like soapy, chemical white floral or some sort of perfumey musk on me . It's very light and fades quickly on my skin, but the drydown is too clean and too perfumey for me. I wish that I got more of the woods and fruity notes that others have mentioned, but something in this goes all sharp and soapy with my skin chemistry, almost like aquatic or ozone + white floral.
-
This smells like sickly sweet cherry cough syrup. Bleh. And the drydown takes on a weird, powdery-dirty scent on my skin, like someone put baby powder through oily, greasy hair. Not good at all on me...
-
I wish that I got the dirt note that others have mentioned. I also can't really pick out the dragon's blood, and that's usually a strong note on my skin. I find this scent very medicinal (a little menthol, a little minty, and a little honeyed cough drop-esque). In the drydown, there's something a bit sour and something spicy underneath the medicinal qualities, but I can't place what they remind me of. All in all, this isn't something that I'd wear, and I wound up scrubbing the oil off after about a half hour...

I think that I agree with the comments about vetiver in this scent, but this is smelling worse on me than vetiver usually does. I get a bit of that smoky, mesquite bbq smell that I get from some of bpal's vetiver notes, but this is smokier and grittier smelling, and not as sweet. It's like someone dumped out an ash tray on to the bbq and then kicked it over into the dusty dirt :/. It’s very dry, smoky, and gritty smelling on my skin...
