I love frankincense, lilac, and myrrh, and I like plum and rose as long as they're not too strong, so I was excited about this scent. Unfortunately, I'm kind of let down by how strong the myrrh is. I can't really pick out any of the other notes at all. Sweet, smooth, golden, resinous myrrh. I might be able to smell some dark, glossy plum, but if I didn't know that there was supposed to be plum here, I doubt that I'd ever identify it. I'm surprised that I don't smell any rose, because rose is usually insanely strong on me. Tons of myrrh and a hint of plum. I might keep my decant of this to see if it gets more complex with age.

I get a hint of clean, sweet orange blossom at first, but after five minutes this is all sandalwood and hints of incense. The sandalwood here is darker and more woodsy than the white sandalwood, but still similarly powdery and clean. It's like dry wood, baby powder, and a hint of sweet incense smoke. Very heavy on the sandalwood. This one does have decent throw and staying power (lasts about 5 hours on me), but I don't love how dry it is or the powdery edge from the sandalwood. I wish that the orange blossom were stronger.

In the bottle, this worried me for a second, as the lime smelled reminiscent of household cleaning products. On my skin, the lime softens (but it's still on the sharp, zesty side of things, and not sweet like key lime notes). The white musk amps up for a few minutes, and adds a creamy, slightly powdery edge to the lime zest. It reminds me of Thoos for a while, but with zesty lime instead of sweet tangerine. After about 15 minutes, the white musk fades and the matcha takes over. This has the same lemony green tea smell that I get from the Milk Chocolate and Matcha Green Tea Ganache Truffle. It's sharper & cleaner smelling on me than blends like Embalming Fluid and Shanghai. The blend also starts to smell slightly soapy and harsh on me. Ehecatl is very clean, citrussy, and zesty smelling. The citrus aspects might be a little too sharp/sour for me, though, and I don't like that it leans towards smelling soapy in the drydown.

Doll's Eye Honey = pillowmints on my skin. It's like the softest of mint notes all wrapped up in an extra dose of sugary sweetness. It's definitely minty, but much sweeter on me than any of the Lick It blends have been. As it dries down, I get something like a splash of citrus tea underneath the super-sweet mint. I might also smell the hint of something like marigold that other reviewers have mentioned, but I might be imagining that. I find this to be very refreshing, sweet, and summery.

This smells exactly like tomato plants to me. Spicy, sun-warmed greenery . It doesn't change at all in the bottle or on my skin. Jerusalem Cherry makes me smell like I rolled around in a garden full of tomato plants (no earth or dirt smell, though, and I don't get any honey from this either). I love the smell of tomato plants, and this scent reminds me of my father and all the time he spent in the garden when I was little <3. I don't know that I need a full bottle of this (love it, but I don't know if I'll ever want to slather myself in the scent of tomato plants), but I'm sooo happy to have a decant, at least.

I get a strong, musky, man's cologne smell from black musk. And Panther Moon is a very strong black musk on me, with the resins dancing around the musk. It was a bit sour smelling on me at first, but the drydown is sweet, vanilla-y resins and that dark, musky cologne smell. It really reminds me of Satyr, but Satyr + some resins. I think that this is too dark and masculine for me, but it does smell dreamy on my husband. It's a dark, strong, musky, intense sort of fragrance, and the sweetness from the resins softens it enough that I find it enjoyable.

I get lots of creamy, sweet coconut from this at first, with a bit of earthy, smooth sandalwood and warm amber. It reminds me of a warmer, smoother, lighter Goblin... like Goblin with warm wood notes instead of patchouli. My skin usually amps up spice notes, but I'm not getting any of the cinnamon or clove from this, much to my surprise. Unfortunately, the drydown is less awesome on me. The coconut drifts to the background so that I can only smell a hint of creamy coconut. The sandalwood seems to amp up and smells very dry and slightly powdery. It smells like I dusted myself with a powder that smells lightly of coconuts. The whole scent is very light and subtle, and I don't notice it much at all after fifteen minutes. I was hoping that this would be a stronger scent and that I'd be able to smell the black licorice. Now I'm hoping that this gets more complex and stronger with some aging...

General citrus recommendations - and discussion of all things orange
Little Bird replied to UltraViolet's topic in Recommendations
Tweedledee is my go-to bpal for a sweet orange scent. It says orange blossoms, but I get a sweet, juicy orange scent from it. I get a fizzy, sweet, orange citrus from Shrodinger's Cat. I also like Hunger, but find that to be very heavy, vanilla-sweet, and floral, with not much orange... -
I used to like this scent and posted a good review for it here, but then it was discontinued... Bottles recently went up for it on the bptp etsy, so I ordered one, and the scent smells like it has gone bad. Now it smells like sweaty armpit, hot and rotting ketchup, sickly yellow flowers, generic white bar soap, and no honey. It's sour, soapy and rotten.

Love a Victoria's Secret fragrance? Looking for a BPAL cousin to it?

Some green-floral and fruity-floral type scents: *The Ghost (notes: white iris, osmanthus, Calla lily, tomb-crawling ivy and a coffin spray of gladiolus, lisianthus and delphinium) *Glasgow (notes: wild blackberry breezing over gentle rosy heather) *Grandmother of Ghosts (notes: laurel, stargazer lily, splintered woods, peony, mandarin and white musk, and is spiked with pale pepper) *Grief (notes: lily of the valley, hyacinth, calamus, muguet, hydrangea, and elemi) *House of Night (A sorrowful graveyard bouquet of somber blooms, funereal boughs, dismal green and laden with grief) *Rosalind (notes: Dew-covered berries and fresh green grasses with a faint breath of spring flowers) *The Unicorn (notes: wispy linden blossoms, white flowers, and a touch of sweet herbs) And I agree with the rec for High Strung Daisies. It's clean, sweetly pink, and has a floral quality to it. Very playful and girly. Slippery Poppy Tincture is also nice for a clean, fresh floral, tart berry, greenery, and sweetness. -
I get mostly a sweet, warm, slightly smoky clove with dry woods and maybe a bit of the root beer smell that other reviewers have mentioned. As it dries down, I get something like a hint of sour, bitter orange peel underneath the spices, and the spices seem a bit sharper and more perfumey. I see that no one else has mentioned sour orange, though, so this oil must be doing something odd on me, lol. I expected this to be heavier, but it's actually rather light and short lived on me. It smells like something that would be better as a room scent than a me-scent. I definitely have spice&wood blends that I like more than this one...

I don't see any similarities between this and the released version (and I like this prototype version a lot more than the fruity, cloying version that was released). This smells like a buttery spice cake with creamy vanilla frosting and a dusting of cinnamon sugar on me at first. It starts to smell less delicious as it dries down, but I still like it. The drydown is spicier and more dry smelling (but spice notes do tend to amp up on me), and reminds me more of gingersnaps or lightly frosted gingerbread cookies. My husband doesn't like this on me, though. He said it smelled buttery and then like spicy potpourri :/.

Fuwu Bansaku in Ruined Temple With Black Monster on Umbrella
Little Bird replied to windbourne's topic in Event Exclusive Oils
For about ten minutes on my skin at first, this is all dark, smoky, charred vetiver, and I thought I might have to scrub this one off. Thankfully, the smoky vetiver calms down in the drydown and makes room for the warm, rich, red sandalwood and sweet coconut. I was most excited about the black currant note, but I don't smell anything fruity here. The red sandalwood has an almost spicy, incensey smell on my skin, and it pairs well with the vetiver for me here. The coconut and tonka add just enough creamy sweetness to the blend for me. The husband told me that this smells dark and earthy on me (which is a switch for him, since he usually says that everything smells like flowers, lol). It's mostly dark, ashy vetiver with incensey, warm sandalwood in the drydown, but the hints of tonka and coconut are lovely and keep the blend from being too dark or smoky for me. I like this. I don't know if I need a full bottle, but I'll definitely be keeping my decant. -
Sky City (Before) is very crisp and clean smelling on me. I hate it at first, because it starts off very sharp and perfumey, but the drydown isn't so bad. I can pick out a hint of dandelion in the mix, but it's mostly this clean air freshener type of scent on me. It reminds me of Dirty, but if Dirty is clean, damp laundry hung to dry over a flower bed, this is laundry hung up to dry over a yard dotted with dandelions. It definitely reminds me strongly of Febreeze. I don't know if I really find this to be wearable. It's just a little too sharp at times, and a little too much like I've sprayed myself with a bottle of Febreeze... I'll probably use this as a room scent if I use it for anything.

It kinda makes me feel bad that I like Sky City (After) a lot more than Sky City (Before). I prefer my Sky City burned to the ground, apparenty, lol. I don't care for smoke/ash scents, but I get more of a woods, spice, and warm resins feel from this. It's not really smoky or ashy on me at all. On me, this smells like cedar spiced with sweet cloves and a tiny hint of cool, sweet pine, all wrapped up in a warm, resinous feel that smells slightly like dark, sweet cola. Dark, sweet, warm, woodsy, and spicy. It reminds me a bit of Schwarzer Mond, Priala, and Sunbird. It's smooth, pleasant, and very wearable. I'm definitely happy to have a bottle of this.

This smells like a not-as-good version of Twenty-One on my skin. It's like fizzy, cool, juniper-y gin note, but sharper and more clean smelling. It's sweet in the bottle, but not so much on my skin. The drydown reminds me of a cleaning fluid smell. I can't pick out the clove, nutmeg, or anything spicy. Just a sharp, fizzy, almost chemical-soapy juniper/gin. I don't find this very wearable at all...

The Wrestler Onogawa Kisaburo Blowing Smoke at a One-Eyed Monster
Little Bird replied to windbourne's topic in Event Exclusive Oils
This scent is really weird on me, especially at first. It's like a mix of green, bitter wood, medicinal menthol, sharp pepper, sweet honey, and a touch of resinous smoke (but I guess that's the tobacco I'm smelling). I don't like the overall medicinal feel, and it smells like the notes aren't really getting along with each other. That said, the bitter and medicinal qualities do calm down for me after about a half hour. The drydown is slightly smoky, dry wood (kinda reminds me of cedar plank bbq smell) with sticky-sweet, honeyed tobacco and the sharpness of the black pepper trying to keep things from being too sweet (and failing at points). The smoky sweetness + spice & wood smells oddly bbq-esque on my skin... and at points I found the honeyed tobacco to be a little cloying. I don't know if I'll keep my decant to see how this ages or just pass this along to a new home :/. -
Tony smells like very sweet, creamy, floral, slightly powdery soap. My husband likes this on me and said that it smells clean and girly. I agree. This doesn't smell masculine to me at all (my husband refused to even try it on, lol). I'd say that this reminds me of Dirty, but I don't find this as complex as Dirty, and this is more artificial-clean-smelling. Dirty is like clean laundry hung out to dry over a flowerbed. Tony is like a bar of sweet, pink floral scented soap on me... not bad, but not really 'me' either.

I'm not great with picking out floral notes (and I usually don't enjoy florals), but I love this spray. I love it even more than I thought would be possible. I can definitely smell the sweet cherry blossom, but it's somehow a very cool and calming scent. It makes me feel so relaxed, even moreso than the lavender/sleep therapy blends that I own. It's like the air around me is refreshingly cool and clean when I use this. There's none of the fake, sharp, chemical-y floral that I was worried about. I really think that this might be my favorite of all of the bptp room sprays that I own (and I have many). I wasn't really expecting to like this scent at all, but it's beautiful. And the peacock on the label automatically makes it the best looking of my room sprays, lol.

Gun Moll reminds me of LUSH's Silky Underwear/Alkmaar at first, but Gun Moll is more complex and heady smelling. I get lots of sweet, honeyed, dry, sultry floral and a hazy, almost smoky sharpness from the opium. The sweetness keeps the harsh opium in check for me, though. I can smell hints of a dry, spicy amber as well. The drydown is a bit sharper than I would prefer, but it's still wearable and I find myself liking this scent a lot. This scent is definitely floral, but not in the usual way (not soapy/clean floral or chemical/sharp floral or fresh). It's like dried flowers with lashings of honey, clove, and amber. Warm and sultry. I probably don't need a full bottle of this, but I can see myself wearing Gun Moll from time to time.

This is super-fizzy, super-sweet lime soda on my skin. I get more of the sweet lime feel than lemon. I thought that it smelled a bit like bpal's gin note in the bottle, but not so much on my skin. It's very simple and verrry sweet. I keep switching between thinking that this is way too sweet and cloying to thinking that the fizziness is really fun and pleasant...

This... reminds me of my ex-boyfriend. Soft, well-worn, slightly sweet leather and a hint of that oil smell that people get after working on cars. The oil smell only lasts for a few minutes on my skin, though. Rivet.Goth is mostly a gentle, comforting leather single note on my skin. It's like having a man you like fold you up in his well loved leather jacket for a hug. Nice. A lot of bpal's leather blends smell similar to me, but I think this is the closest to a pure, soft leather. It's nothing like the intense, dark, slightly smoky leather of De Sade. It's more of a gentle Quincey Morris or The Traveller leather... ETA: Rivet.Goth and Gothabilly haven't aged well at all. Rivet now reminds me of Thunder & Blazes' dusty, soured leather (only this lacks the grass & dirt notes that make the other more wearable for me) with an almost tobacco-y edge. I don't find it very soft and wearable anymore...

First on, this is all tart, candy-sweet black cherry on my skin, with a hint of creamy, sweet vanilla. And then after about five minutes, I suddenly can't smell the cherry anymore and I'm left with a light, silky, sweet, exotic, boozy vanilla scent. It's like a drydown of amber colored vanilla liquor. Very nice. I just wish that this had more throw and staying power (it lasts about 2 hours on me and clings close to my skin), but it's worth taking the time to reapply. ETA - I had two bottles of Gothabilly and don't care for the scent at all now that it has aged. Gothabilly is like sickly sweet cherry with baby powder on me now, like the cherry has gotten stronger and eaten the lovely vanilla notes.

My skin amps up rose notes, and this is almost all rose on my skin. It's a sweet, pleasant, creamy, dewy rose with a sophisticated, perfumey floral edge. It's sort of like a cross between the feel of Peacock Queen and Marguerite on me, but with more of a fresh, dew-covered feel than either of those blends have. I was hoping for more lilac and frankincense, but I can't pick out either of those notes. This is a gorgeous rose scent, but I already have so many rose blends that go to single notes on me. I'm not sure that this one will get much attention from me...

In the bottle, this smelled kinda scary. Dark, heavy incense with some perfumey sharpness from the opium. On my skin, this morphs into instant love for me. Black, dark, heavy incense notes with what smells like a hint of smoky black musk to me (and maybe a hint of patchouli and beeswax? something reminds me very much of fresh, 2006 version Luperci in the drydown). The amber adds a rich, subtle sweetness to the blend. I can't pick out the plum at all, and thankfully I don't smell any opium notes on my skin. It's just the most amazingly dark, sexy, incense notes. It also smells very dry to me, without being dusty or powdery at all. It's an intense, unique fragrance. Romanti.Goth definitely smells dark and gothy, and conjures up images of heavy, black clothing and darkened rooms. I think that this is the darkest, sexiest scent I've ever tried from bpal... I'm going to cherish my bottle of this. It's amazing.
