Pomegranate tends to go tart and dry smelling on me, and it's doing that here, leaning a little sour, paired with the dry, woody oud. Sweet tarts and dry wood with a powdery drydown.

I don't smell the pom at all in this one. I get kind of a misty evergreen note with dry, green moss and damp, earthy patchouli. The drydown is a little less misty and damp, but an overall picture of laying on dry mosses on the floor of a pine forest. Disappears on me after about an hour and there are foresty blends that I like more (several of the duet/menage blends).

This is disastrous on my skin, but it's 3 notes that I don't tend to get along with, so I'm not shocked about it, lol. The apple is breezy air freshener apple, the pomegranate it overly tart and dry smelling, and the pink pepper smells a little like dry cinnamon. The apple takes over for me in the drydown and I have too much of that association with perfumey, tart apple = air freshener.

I just tried a decant of this blend and went to the site and was sad to see that it's sold out. It's glowing red from the dragon's blood, spicy and earthy from the ginger and pepper, resinous and slightly golden from the frankincense, on a base of warm, woody sandalwood and galangal. I like it a lot, but I've been enjoying sharper, spiced dragon's blood blends lately.

Reminds me of some of the rosewater facial tonics I have used, not quite soapy, but clean, light, dewy and refreshing. A little coolness from the herbal lavender. Doesn't last long on me, but is pleasant and pretty.

Smells like orange gummi candy and orange lollipops with a little bit of warm, cozy spiciness (not a strong or distinct spice, but a warm and comforting essence) from the carnation and an undertone of creaminess and pink bubblegum. It is sweet and cheerful (and long lasting on me). It stays orange candy and pink bubblegum sweet even in the drydown, but more of the creamy blossom and creamy vanilla aspects come through over the hours. A cheerful and sweet scent that I haven't actually worked with yet, though I probably should, because I've been very depressed lately and any little bit might help.

I've gone through a couple bottles of Temple: Witches now and it's an oil that I feel an affinity for. I only use it to dress candles, but it feels right to me in most circumstances and like it adds a little offering and oomph to whatever I am doing. It makes me feel more connected. To me, it's like equal parts wafts of incense smoke and frankincense and equal parts clean, green herbs.

I wish that I had ordered more than one bottle of this blend. I usually hate apple scents and this is an apple scent, but it's so good and so sweet with a lot of depth and complexity to it. The lemony, sweet cubeb and sweet, dusky cocoa powder reminds me of Cerberus (one of my favorites), there's a little vanilla cream, and the apple is richly sweet with the rose melding into it and giving it a realistic, rosy, glowing freshness. I like it when perfumers mix apple + rose to give the apple more depth and dewy, juicy realism. It all just works together so well. A delightful, fruity, autumnal gourmand with no spices to ruin it. It hasn't helped me in any love potions or attraction rituals as of yet, but I will wear it as a perfume.

Bergamot, Orange Blossom & Vetiver
Little Bird replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
The vetiver isn't showing up to the party for me, just the bergamot and orange blossom. The combo is a bit sharp on me, like a slightly sour citrus cologne with a soapy undertone. I like a sweeter and creamier orange blossom, but I think the lemony, bright bergamot is making this a little too sharp for my tastes. -
Blueberry, Tobacco, and Pink Pepper
Little Bird replied to Silvertree's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Sweet, gooey blueberry, like blueberry pie filling, with pink pepper doing its usual odd thing on me (pink bubblegum and a hint of cinnamon). The pink pepper fades away over time and I can start to smell hints of the tobacco, dark and sweetly earthy and slightly smoky. It kind of reminds me of a blueberry jam tea that I own that's made with dried blueberries and black tea.- 6 replies

Honeycomb, Lemon, and Sugar Cane
Little Bird replied to Silvertree's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I knew that I wasn't going to love this because honey + lemon will always make me think of cough drops and give me a medicinal impression. My dad used to always buy the Ricola Honey & Lemon flavored cough drops and that's immediately what this reminds me of. The honey is strongest on me, followed by the lemon, and I don't get much of a sugared impression.- 12 replies

Pine Needles, Frankincense, and Beeswax Absolute
Little Bird replied to Silvertree's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I feel like I've smelled this sort of scent so many times, this foresty resin and beeswax candles type of scent, but I prefer it to be more complex, dark and smoky. This trio starts off very piney and a little sour on my skin and then more of the beeswax and a sweet, golden, resinous, smooth frankincense take over. Bpal's beeswax note is so realistic to the scent of unlit beeswax candles, but I have always found that scent a little off-putting when it's so strong and in a simple blend like this one. It's realistically waxy, creamy, and almost musty honey.- 5 replies

Sour, lemony verbena and bergamot mixed into a strong soap base.

The opium and sea salt are sharp and soapy, reading as a high pitched ozone on my skin. I want the plum and amber-y tones, but they never really come out to play. Over time, I can smell a little bit of sweet resin, but it's not enough for me.
-
Goes on in a maraschino cherry/almond extract blast that quickly dries down to a boozy butterscotch and heavy, realistic, freshly squeezed from a bear shaped bottle sort of honey. I don't love the honey and the boozy part goes a little sour on me over time.

I wasn't sure about this one because brown sugar tends to be a death note for me, honey is iffy, and I'm getting kinda sick of cardamom showing up so much in the indie perfume world nowadays (I have cardamom fatigue.. but never clove fatigue, lol). Nutty notes always have sort of a dry, wooden quality to them and this medley of nuts is like dry wood with hints of creaminess and toasted warmth. There's a little bit of well-behaved spice in the drydown and a drizzle of honey over the roasted nuts. It's soft and delicate, sitting close to the skin and only lasting a couple hours on me. It has a cozy, foraging in the woods in early fall type of vibe and almost reads as a quality sandalwood type of smell on my skin at points.

Bpal's white sandalwood has always been a bpal death note for me because it tends to overpower everything else and it is so dry and baby powdery on my skin. That's the only thing that I get from Bony Moon 2022. The original Bony Moon had a funky cedar note that went to BO on me, but at least this one isn't doing that to me.

I seem to be in the minority, but I'm not a fan of the Lab's champagne note (or any companies' champagne notes, now that I think about it), though I am always a fan of marshmallow anything. On me, this is too much champagne and a barely there whisper of sweet, creamy marshmallow floof long into the drydown. The champagne is always an odd mix of bright, sharp and clean along with something sickly sweet and kind of pukey smelling to me, plus fizz. Sometimes a hint of what my brain interprets as lime.

I get the Play-Doh scent that a few other reviewers have mentioned, along with the brown sugar note, and I unfortunately am not a huge fan of brown sugar scents because they just turn too sweet on my skin. Fades fast on me to a barely there, kind of powdery, nondescript, sweet, warm scent.
-
Starts off with a sharp, herbal lavender and sharp, slightly lemony white tea and then dries down to lavender scented soap with a powdery, resinous amber & labdanum backdrop. Turns more woody and warmly resinous on my skin over time with a hint of earthier oakmoss. It becomes very amber dominant and quite powdery on my skin and I have ambers that I enjoy a lot more. Not bad at all, but not a keeper for me.

Wearing this for the first time was an odd experience because I was like, "This isn't Snake Oil. This isn't Snow White. This is a hint of frost and a deeper, better version of Smut because it's sweeter and richer and not quite Smut either?" I get odd undertones to it over the hours, like a hint of rubber the first couple hours and then a hint of play-doh in the later stages. It has a warm, toasted quality to it. Toasted, deepened red musk? I don't think that I can smell Snow White's vanilla tones until several hours in, but it does have a persistent sweetness and a very thick, sweet, darker red muskiness and warmth. The new version of Snake Oil has a noticeable patchouli and dark, resinous vibes in it, but this does not ever smell like patchouli or specifically Snake Oil on me. There's a hint of actual, icy frost note on me at first, but it fades quickly. This is such a strong, heavy scent. I feel like it wears me a bit even when I put on a small dab. Intense, deep, dark, sweet musk. I have a couple decants of this now and am wondering if I should just buy a bottle. I really enjoy darker, sweeter leaning red musks and this is certainly that.

I like this a lot more than the OG White Rabbit's starchy linen, sharp pepper and ginger, and milky yet astringent tea. Original White Rabbit always felt a bit too cold and too sharp for me, even though it has its charms. Snow White Rabbit feels like a far prettier scent that's both more clean and more sweet than the original. I get more of the honey from this version, swirled in with Snow White's fluffy vanilla, and more of a fresh laundry scent that reminds me of spring flower scented laundry detergent and soft, white sheets. Only lasts about 4 hours on my skin, but I really enjoy it and am considering ordering a full bottle. A clean, springtime vanilla with swirls of honey and soapy floral.

I get a whiff of patchouli at first, but it quickly drowns underneath the sweeter notes. Snow Goblin is like all of the darkness was removed from Goblin and I'm left with a buttery coconut and hint of dry, slightly earthy coconut husk that are swimming in lots of Snow White's fluffy vanilla and hint of marzipan paste. This is a vanilla & coconut gourmand scent on me more than anything else. Only lasts about 2 hours on my skin, but is pleasant, sweet, creamy, and rich.

Bat Jockeys is very warm, powdery, and musky on my skin. There's the woody, maple-y, nutty hazelnut, powdery and warm amber, and lots of the brown musk that conjures up images of fuzzy sweaters and fur. My partner mentioned that it smelled like maple syrup and baby powder.

I haven't enjoyed the previous Sufganiyot scents because the pastry part smells weirdly like fig newtons (sort of a dry, granola bar-y pastry) and I don't like it at all, and I'm really iffy on strawberry scents and don't care for them when they smell too sweet or candied, AND I usually find buttercream scents to be too sweet as well. In light of all of that, I'm not even sure why I took a chance on this and full bottled it immediately, but I'm lucky that I did, because Strawberry Buttercream Sufganiyot is amazing. I've been having a terribly hard time lately and this has become a major comfort scent and mood booster for me. The strawberry is tangy and refreshing like biting into a real, ripe strawberry, but also has whiffs of soft strawberry gummi candy. The tangy, realistic part of the strawberry keeps everything from being too sweet for me. I'm getting none of the weird fig newton/granola bar pastry either. The pastry part actually reminds me of the fluffy sugar glazed puffs from Krispy Kreme, so it's pulling off a true glazed donut type of scent on my skin. The buttercream isn't even sickly sweet, but I can fully imagine biting into this perfect, cream filled, glazed donut topped with fresh strawberry slices and a little bit of strawberry goo. Cheerful and perfect.
