    Melon scents?

The King's Daughter is the only one that I can think of that has a good watermelon note to it (in The Last Unicorn series): "A matter of formality: lilac musk, sandalwood, sweet pea, watermelon accord, pale woods, elemi, and oakmoss." Yemaya (Excolo) has a strong honeydew melon type of scent: "Her ofrenda is a bounty of melons and grapes, strewn with the petals of the flowers of motherhood, draped with sea mosses." Tis the Voice of the Lobster lists watermelon, but it went all weird on me (perfumey, artificial, sickly mishmash of fruits).

    Goldenrod Crab Spider

This might be the only Weenie this year that I've considered buying a full bottle of (but the spider on the label makes me have panic attacks, so that's out the window, lol). Everyone else has already described this well. I don't get much of the mint or floral (maybe a cool feel from the mint), which I'm happy with, but I get lots of sweet, creamy coconut whipped up with energizing ginger, lime, and tea to give it a fresh, tropical drink edge. It starts off as a big tropical burst and then fades quickly and becomes more of a skin scent on me after an hour. It smells clean and sweetly tropical. I like it and will definitely use my decant as a pick-me-up on some of the dreary winter days ahead.

    Mischief

I was hoping for something like Egg'd Mailbox (foodie, sweet egg custard) but this is unfortunately a mess on my skin. I get the weird, aquatic, slightly soapy, cucumber-y note that others have mentioned, mixed with a sour beer note and something like maple syrup and brown sugar. I don't like the warm foodie part mixed with cold non-foodie... though, weirdly, the drydown after about an hour smells mostly like a spicy pumpkin pie smell on my skin. It's a chaotic, mismatched sort of smell on me

    The Bloody Banister

The Bloody Banister starts off like dusty, dry, dark woods and dirty patchouli on me, and dries down to more of a sharp, perfumey muskiness and powdery woods. Oddly, I'm not getting anything like bpal's blood or dragon's blood notes...

    The Apparition

I was expecting this to be dark and woodsy, but it's sharp and slightly soapy on me, with some powdery sandalwood in the drydown. Manly soap and non-manly powder. Pass...

    The Sinister Salon

Lots of opium here, which I don't like (smells like heavy, musky 80s perfume and cheap, metallic, chemical-y hairspray to me). Dries down with some sweeter tobacco and a weird, sharp, dry sort of soapiness.

    The Heinous Hedge-Maze

Heinous Hedge-Maze is like a damp, cool, green grass and herbs type of scent. The drydown is a little perfumey on me, like some sort of floral note is hiding underneath all the greenery. It's rather light and clean smelling on me. I love the name of this one, but I rarely find myself wearing green scents. I might keep my decant, but don't need more.

    Bub

Bub and Norman are the only two ParaNorman scents that are kinda wearable for me, but both are also really light on my skin. Bub reminds me of citrus scented dish soap (kinda smells lemony on me more than orange), warm and powdery amber and a light spiciness. I think it's reminding me of The Lion with more of a soapy citrus & clean, bright feel, though I haven't smelled The Lion in a long time. I'm not really getting any grass or greenery. Not bad, but probably not a keeper for me either.

    Mr. Prenderghast

All of the ParaNorman scents seem to have a funky note in them and then either a too powdery or too soapy drydown for my tastes. Mr. Prenderghast has the pickled, sour, vinegar-y smell that others have mentioned, though it does settle down quickly for me into kind of a sweet, warm, slightly smoky tobacco, hints of burnt coffee, and powder. But the tobacco is a bit too sweet and I don't care for whatever is turning baby powder-y on me.

    Pumpkin V

I was sucked in by all of the lovely vanillas in the description, but this is way too heavy on the cinnamon/spice for me (definitely not a 'lightly' spiced pumpkin to my nose). It smells like sharp cinnamon potpourri with a slightly buttery undertone from the pumpkin. Too much cinnamon that gives me a headache after a while. I love the French vanilla note in Joyful Moon, so I hope it gets used as a main note in some future blends. I don't even think of vanilla at all when I smell this one

    The Book

I don't get the leather and ink from this that some other reviewers have mentioned (sadly, I would love a leather and ink scent!). The Book smells like dry cedar, spice (kinda reminds me of taco seasoning :/) and sickly sweet powder on me. The sweet powder has something to it that reminds me of shops that sell cheap oils & incense. The drydown after a half hour is mostly that powdery, sweetish incense smell on my skin. Gives me a headache

    Blithe Hollow

Blithe Hollow is a faint, soapy pine on me. It's like a clean laundry scent with a green edge.
  13. Little Bird

    Norman

Norman is a strange, faint scent. It only lasts about 20 minutes total on me, even if I slather. It starts off smelling like PineSol, then settles into something that reminds me of Destroying Angel (cool, dry earth with mushroom), and finally fades into a faint, dusty scent with a hint of sour milk and soap. Interesting, but I don't know that I'd wear this one, and it has no staying power on my skin anyhow. I wore this again today and it reminds me of the herbal, weedy pot note that is in Smell Bent's Hungry Hippies scent. It's that same green, earthy pot smell mixed with soapy-clean PineSol and cool dirt.

    Courtney

First on, Courtney smells like a mix of chewing gum on me (lots of the pink, sweet bubblegum and hints of cinnamon-y big red and powdery spearmint). I was hoping that the tanning lotion would mean coconut + pink bubblegum, but this dries down to a blah, powdery spearmint smell on me for some reason, with a sort of off, chemical-y, bitter note that I'm guessing is supposed to be the tanning lotion. It doesn't smell like something that I would wear as a personal fragrance. It's like the scent equivalent of popping a piece of chewing gum into your mouth and realizing that someone spilled nail polish remover on it or something :/

    Norman's Grandma

In the bottle and on my skin, this has a persistent smell that reminds me of sharp/ musky/ perfumey 80s cologne and chemical-y, soapy smelling hairspray. I was really expecting and hoping for this to be a sweet scent. I usually love tea rose, and rose is usually super-strong on me, but I can't smell any roses here at all. I also usually love lilac, and can't smell any in this blend. I get a drydown of cheap hairspray, sweet powder and a hint of generic soap very disappointing.

    Fresh Summery Flowery

Your list sounds like exactly what my husband always prefers on me (except that he also likes vanilla). I don't have too many florals that I and my hubby have liked from bpal (bpal's florals just tend to not work as well on me as other companies), but you might want to check out some of these: *Alice (Mad Tea Party) - "Curiouser and curiouser. Milk and honey with rose, carnation and bergamot. " *Black Lily (Rappaccini's Garden) - has no note list, but smells like a sensual and realistic lily. It's one of the few florals from bpal that I really love. You also might want to check out Oleander Honey and Yellow Jessamine Honey in this category, as they are clean floral mixed with sweet honey. *The Dormouse (Mad Tea Party) - "A dizzying eddy of four teas brushed with light herbs and a breath of peony." *Fae (Bewitching Brews) - "A brilliant, ethereal scent: white musk, bergamot, heliotrope, peach and oakmoss." *Glasgow (Wanderlust) - "The rich scent of wild blackberry breezing over gentle rosy heather." *High-Strung Daisies (Mad Tea Party) - "Daisy, pink carnation, pink pepper, and sugar." *Marie (Diabolus) - "A blend of sinuous violet and elegant tea rose: the chosen scent of France's Demigoddess of Debauch: Marie Antoinette." *Night-Gaunt (Picnic in Arkham) - "Their scent of their slick, rubbery hides is bittersweet, ticklish, and skin-creeping: something akin to yuzu, white grapefruit, and kumquat mixed with the snow-dusted flowers of Mount Ngranek." *The Rose (Marchen) - "The promise of a rose: red rose petals, fresh sap, and the sharp green scent of stem and leaf." *Slippery Poppy Tincture (Pharmacopoeia)- "Poppy flowers, acai berry and honey." *Zephyr (Bewitching Brews) - "A gentle white scent, breezes laced with the scent of springtime blooms and citrus. Lemon, lemon verbena, neroli, white musk, white florals, white sandalwood, China musk, bergamot and a drop of vanilla." And, as Mountaingrrl already mentioned, the ladies in the Illyria category are mostly fresh, girly florals.

    Fizzy Jack O' Lantern

I really don't like this one. I get the fizz from the gin and gingerale, a crisp lemon note, warm spices and buttery pumpkin. And the mix of all of that just feels very off & mismatched to me. Fresh, fizzy, spicy and buttery... it starts off strong on me, but fades a lot within a half hour, and is barely there by the one hour mark.

    The Wretched Rose Window

The soapy smell of this kinda reminds me of men's shaving cream at first, with undertones of perfumey, dry rose and maybe a bit of powdery violet candy. The drydown after about an hour smells like a bar of perfumey rose scented soap. Not working for me.

    Ghost House

I was hoping that the grape meant that this would be kind of a spooky wine scent, as I often like bpal's wine blends. But I'm one of the people who aren't getting much fruit from this at all. It doesn't really remind me of the sour, aquatic quality of Spanish Moss either. Somehow this smells kinda pine-like on my skin, with a dry, sharp, dusty quality that I really don't like. Makes me think of dying plants and trees. It has a bitterness on my skin and isn't sweet enough for me at all. A bit powdery and bitter, dark green on me in the drydown. I'm not sure that this would be a keeper for me even if the raspberry and grape were stronger, but it's definitely not working for me as it is :/

    Neil

I'm a fan of cereal scents (like Lann-Ael <3), but I don't get anything cereal or milky from this blend. I hate bpal's cherry/almond note, and that seems to be the main note I get from Neil. It's a fakey, overly sweet maraschino cherry type of smell. It goes on strong, but has faded away almost entirely by the half hour mark, just leaving a faint sugar and powder scent on my skin. I expected something cool and unusual from the listed notes, but this is just blah cherry/almond on me.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Does anyone have pictures of Mariposita and/or this year's Pumpkin Patch blends? I'd love to see them
  22. Little Bird

    Spanish Moss

Spanish Moss single note smells a lot like Bayou (which makes sense, of course, as it is a note in Bayou).. bright green, sour, aquatic moss. It smells swamp-y. I find it interesting, but (like Bayou) it's not really wearable for me. It just has a sour/bitter quality that smells off on my skin.
  23. Little Bird

    Salma

Salma just smells like soapy apple blossom to me. I like the smell of ink, but don't get any from this scent. Lots of soap, slightly perfumey floral and sweet apple. Gives me a headache, but I guess it'd be nice for someone who can wear soap/clean scents.
  24. Little Bird

    Hippie Ghost

Hippie Ghost is really strange and unpleasant on me. Reading over the other reviews, this really does have a dirty, pot smoke-ish quality on my skin (and I hate that smell :/) with a dry, cheap smelling patchouli and.. soap? The drydown reminds me a bit of burning sage. It's a weird mess on my skin - strangely bitter, dirty and soapy. There isn't enough sweetness to make it wearable for me and I can't pick out the suede/leather at all. This starts off strange and then fades quickly, almost entirely gone by the time it's been on for a half hour, and I am not sad to see it go, lol.

    Sexy, heady, incensey recs?

There are already a lot of great recs here, but I want to add in El Dorado. It's in the Wanderlust category with notes of "Copal resin incense blowing through halls of dazzling gold." One of my favorites and a really unique incensey blend from bpal with dark, spicy, earthy undertones.
