  1. For vanilla sugar mint tea, you might want to try: *Juke Joint (Bewitching Brews) - "A bawdy, gleefully wicked and unruly scent: Kentucky Bourbon, sugar and a sprig of mint." Mostly like vanilla-sugar and mint, with the booze making it more of a beverage type scent. For mint and lavender: *Envy (Sin & Salvation) - "Green herbs slithering through mint, lime and lavender." *Pain (Diabolus) - "Wicked and vicious! A sharp, cruel blend of lavender and pennyroyal." Spa-like: *Cheshire Cat (Mad Tea Party) - "Grapefruit, red currant, dark musk, Roman chamomile, delphinium, and lavender." I get mostly sweet grapefruit and lavender from this. *Kumiho (Diabolus) - "A sharp, biting blend of crisp white tea and ginger." *Mag Mell (Wanderlust) - "The warmth of amber, the puissance of white ginger and the clarity of verbena, with fresh green grass, lush sage and cleansing droplets of summer rain." Ginger: *Shub-Niggurath (A Picnic in Arkham) - "A blend of ritual herbs and dark resins, shot through with three gingers and aphrodisiacal spices." *Sudha Segara (Bewitching Brews) - "Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia."

    Fetish.Goth

I think that Fetish.Goth is reminding me a lot of The Black Rider, probably because the opoponax in both amps up on me. Opoponax seems to have this syrupy, cloying sweetness on me, like an insanely sweet myrrh, with hints of something that smells a bit peppery on my skin. I get lots of sweet resin from this scent, that peppery-spiciness, and a little bit of powdery musk in the drydown. I can't really pick out much leather or patchouli at all, sadly. I would love a leather, sweet myrrh, and patchouli blend, but this isn't doing it for me...

    Fighter

I prefer Rogue over Fighter for a leather blend. Rogue smells like sweet, smooth, well worn leather on me, where Fighter is pretty heavy on the musky, metallic, sharp cologne with hints of dark leather. I usually do well with metallic scents, but the musk here is making this too sharp and perfumey/chemical-like for my tastes.

    Cabaret.Goth

I get a perfumey white floral gardenia, a warm and sweet vanilla dusting powder feel from the amber, and hints of orange. Strong and kinda reminds me of Mouse's Long & Sad Tale and Pumpkin Princess.

    Lawful

In the bottle and on my skin, this smells clean, herby-earthy, and spa-like. It makes me think of 'rain' or 'ocean' scented spa treatments. I mainly get the oak and chamomile here, which are two notes that I tend to hate from bpal, but they're clean smelling and subdued in this blend. I wonder if blue chamomile is more clean smelling than the usual chamomile, because this doesn't have the smoky bitterness that I usually associate with that note. I don't find this scent to be fruity at all. It smells like rain, ocean, and hints of wood and earthy herbs to me. Lawful makes me think of water and earth, and is actually very calming and gentle smelling...

    Neutral

Neutral smells like clean skin (not full-on soapy, but sharp, clean musk) and sweet, creamy, slightly vanilla-y powder on me. Almost a generic, creamy lotion sort of smell. There's something like a tiny hint of sweet, tart fruitiness as it dries down as well. Neutral starts off a bit too sharp on me, but the powdery sweetness in the drydown is pleasant enough. It's a little too powdery-dry for me to wear often, but I think I'll keep my decant of this one.

    Magic, Do As You Will

I like resin/incense blends and I was hoping that the purple fruits would mean black currant, but I don't think that this really smells fruity at all. First on, I get a whiff of something sharp and chemical that made me think this had opium in it, but that quickly disappears and I'm left with a sort of dusty incense and sweet resins scent that's slightly powdery on my skin. I also keep thinking that I smell something like cedar chips every once in a while (almost peppery, dry wood). It's not bad, but I don't like the baby powdery edge that this has on my skin, and I don't think that I'd ever wear this over my other incense/resin favorites.

    Captain Cully

I didn't know if I should buy Captain Cully, because I have so many leather blends already and wasn't sure if this would be different enough to justify a purchase. But I bought it anyhow, and I'm so glad that I did. I don't have any leather blends that smell close to this one. It's definitely leather, creamy tonka, dusty, smooth woods, and a rich booze. The boozy part actually reminds me of Dark Chocolate, Whiskey, and Cognac Truffle - sort of dark brown, rich, and thickly sweet. The overall feel is of buttery-soft leather, a delicious and grownup sweetness, and a mingling of woods and sophisticated, cool, creamy tonka-cologne. Captain Cully is very smooth and I think that this would be dreamy on a man, but it's sweet, gentle, and creamy enough to be worn easily by a woman as well. This and The Harpy are my favorite blends of The Last Unicorn series so far.

    Paladin

I liked this oil when I first got it, but my bottle seems to have gone off after having it for a year (now reminds me of baby oil and has a sickly, bland sweetness to it.. smells very golden and base oil-y, if that makes sense to anyone. I don't get the leather or cologne feel from it at all anymore. So weird). My original review when this was fresh and not 'aged': The list of notes for Paladin sounded so good to me, and this does not disappoint. I get mostly frankincense (and it does smell sweet on me, almost more like sweet myrrh than frankincense) and rich vanilla with a bit of a creamy, cologne-like feel from the white musk and metal. The leather is barely there, though it gets stronger as this dries down on me; it's just a whisper of something darker and dangerous lurking underneath the other notes.

    Good

I was worried that this would be sickly sweet, but I love vanilla and sugar, so I snagged a bottle anyhow. And this is lovely and not at all cloying on me the musk really cuts through the sweetness (and smells like a mix of clean bubble soap, powder, and orchids on me) and I get lots of fluffy vanilla sugar and a hint of honey. Good smells both clean and sweet on me, which I think is perfect for a good fragrance. I'll happily wear this on its own as well as layer it with other blends.

    Ranger

My husband looked at all of the RPG scents and asked me to get a bottle of this one for him (so I did, of course ). Thankfully, he really loves the scent and I think it smells great on him too. Ranger is mostly pine and foresty tones. It reminds me of Golden Priapus and Voodoo, but not quite as sweet as either of those. It goes slightly smoky on his skin but is mostly sweet pine and hints of dry, warm woods and earthy patchouli. I think that this will age very well and I'm really excited about mixing it with other notes for my hubby (though it's a great blend just on its own).

    Weeping Branches Moon

Weeping Branches Moon smells like strawberry cotton candy laced through perfumey, clean florals to me. It's a bit similar to the feel of Sugar Moon 2011. I can't pick out any one floral note, and I'd normally dislike this (perfumey white floral smell doesn't usually work for me), but the strawberry really sweetens everything up and makes it wearable, and the florals keep it from being too sweet. And this one is very strong with lots of throw. A very pretty fruity-floral with lots of yummy strawberry.

    The Harpy Celaeno

I was worried about the vetiver here, but I can't pick out the vetiver at all. This actually smells like a fresh and summery version of Priala to me. The myrrh and clove have that warm, deliciously spicy, sweet resin, and the bergamot and orange flower give it a fresh, fruity-floral lift that's a bit like orange blossoms and creamy lemon with a hint of green stem. Complex and very well put together. It's a very strong and long lasting fragrance as well. ETA: My husband asked me to edit this review and say that he loves this scent on me. I think that means it's a winner, lol.

    Dwarf

I'm not a fan of this one, which surprises me, because I usually like metallic and leather scents. Something about it is a little too chemical-sharp-bitter and slightly smoky on me, though. As it dries down, I can smell something like dirt, but it's mostly a bitter herbs and musky cologne sort of smell on me. Doesn't work with my skin chemistry for some reason...

    Halfling

I have a problem with a lot of the RPG scents smelling kinda cheap and reminding me of candle/soap making oils (including that kinda plastic/waxy undertone that I get from those cheaper oils). Halfling has that same undertone and reminds me of a Christmas candle fragrance. It's very spicy and kinda reminiscent of cider and snickerdoodle cookies. It gives me a headache if I wear it as a personal scent, but I do like it in an oil warmer every once in a while to scent a room. ETA: Had my bottle for a year and it has turned even more plasticy and off.

    Rogue

I liked this when I first got it (it was a soft, brown, warm, worn leather smell), but my bottle went bad after about a year and started to smell really plasticy and nondescript perfumey. It's sort of a warm, toasted.. perfume smell with a hint of burning plastic. I'm not a fan of the oils used in the RPG line.

    Schmendrick

I honestly just bought a bottle of Schmendrick because it had birds on the label, and I was curious about the sultana raisins. I don't like the lab's chamomile, and tobacco, sage, and caramel are all iffy on me. Not surprisingly, I don't really like this scent. Right now it's bitter, sharp, bright, herby chamomile, something of a sharp men's cologne musk, and smoky, dry tobacco (reminds me a bit of cigar smoke and paper money, only not as sweet as cigars usually are). It doesn't have enough sweetness to it at all for me, and the overall thing is just too bitter and herby from the chamomile. It's gross and almost has a sharp, soapy hint to it as it dries down, and that doesn't improve things. I can't pick out anything like raisins or caramel. I'd recommend Schmendrick if you like smoky tobacco and chamomile. I'm hoping that the raisin and caramel come out with some aging and make this blend sweeter and more wearable for me...

    Éclat

I wasn't really expecting to like this, and it's just okay on me. Eclat smells like very lemony, fresh, cool tea, with a bit of perfumey floral. I like Embalming Fluid and Shanghai more for lemony green tea smells.

    Looking for a Gardenia scent

For carnation, I'd recommend Maiden (Ars Amatoria) for a fresh Valentine's Day carnation sort of smell. And Hod is my favorite carnation, though it's LE, and it's more of a dry, sugared carnation smell. You might also want to try: Clemence (Carnaval Diabolique) - "Patchouli, Kashmiri tea, cardamom, black pepper, carnation, and clove." Spicy, carnation tea sort of scent. High-Strung Daisies (Mad Tea Party) - "Daisy, pink carnation, pink pepper, and sugar." I can pick out a bit of dry, sugary carnation from it, but it's more like clean linen, pink bubblegum, cotton candy, and wildflowers on my skin. Scherezade from Bewitching Brews. It doesn't list carnation at all, but it gives off a very incensey carnation scent on my skin.

    Looking for a Gardenia scent

I love gardenia <3 I get a pretty strong, creamy gardenia from Eternal. Also: *Sacred Whore of Babylon (Excolo) - Doesn't really list any notes, but I get creamy gardenia, soft spices, and something like honeyed almond-vanilla from this. Super pretty. *The Sluggard (Mad Tea Party) - "Pious frankincense, angelic gardenia, unsoiled pear, and staunch ho wood conflict with prickly, overgrown thistle, idle labdanum, and lethargic lavender." Is mostly creamy gardenia and hints of sweet pear on me. And these are my favorites for LE gardenia blends: *The Harp of Cnoc I'Chosgair - "Gilded amber, tiare, golden sandalwood, vanilla, cardamom, and tagetes." *Tiki Queen - "Monoi de Tahiti, vanilla, white coconut, tuberose, ylang ylang, white musk, red hibiscus, and neroli."

    Cleric v2

I was hoping for the creamy vanilla and citrus that some reviewers have mentioned, but the citrus here is a bit sharp on me (kinda reminds me of white tea with lemon), with a soapy edge. As it dries down, the scent sweetens up a little and goes slightly powdery on me. Clean, sweet, lemony-citrus scented powder.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Evening Cicadas and Red Peppers (Yule 2009 blend) reminds me quite a bit of Light Blue. Ebisu Making Love As Two Octopuses Look On (Lupercalia 2008) also has a similar feel for me.

    Half-Elf

While Elf is a misty forest full of berries and greenery, Half-Elf is more of a dry, industrial smelling scent. There's something like a hint of cold, medicinal menthol in here, something that gives off the impression of oiled gears and polished wood, and the oud and musk give off an impression of dark, dirty, well worn leather and bug spray (an association I often get from oud). It smells like a mechanic's shop to me, in a way. Wood, chemicals, hints of leather, manly musk, and dirty woods. The bug spray thing is overwhelming and sharp in the drydown, though, and I don't like the hint of vicks vaporub menthol.

    Cleric

I was hoping for more woodsy incense from this, but the rose amber and narcissus seem to freak out and take over on my skin. The rose amber is unpleasantly dry and powdery on my skin, and the narcissus gives the rose a sharper, more perfumey quality. I get whiffs of sweet myrrh every once in a while, but Cleric is mostly a sharp rose powder. It's a bit strong for about a half hour and then fades quickly on me.

    Elf

I had huge hopes for this after trying (and loving) Elf v4, but this doesn't really smell anything like the prototype on me. I get the piney, herbal greenery that others have mentioned, slightly sharp and soapy, with a drydown that's green plus hints of something like citrus & berries + clean floral. Too soapy and a bit too sharp for my tastes. I was hoping for more of a honeyed fruity-floral, but this isn't very sweet on my skin. It's very strong and starts to give me a headache after a while.
