Interests
I spend the majority of my life reading. Books, stories, fanfic, slash, het, e-mail, closed captioning, cereal boxes, anything in front of me, basically. Good thing I'm a librarian. LOL I also love music and almost always have some playing.

Looking for any Harry Potter scent recommendations
Rinadoll replied to Trish's topic in Recommendations
I've finalized my costume for release night - Molly Weasley. Hee! Frumpy skirt, patterned blouse, somewhat ugly knit sweater, and I shall prop up my Weasley clock (from Signals magazine) and work on my knitting. So now I need an appropriate scent - something homey, bit dowdy, but let's face it - the woman has 7 kids, I think she's pretty attractive to at least one man. *g* Any ideas? Antique Lace seemed a little too romantic for such a practical woman. Rina -

OMG I love that!! I also totally love this thread. I work in a children's room and will be working that night, and so I need to dress up. I'm thinking I'd make a good Hermione. Miskatonic U could be a good scent for her. But not for me. LOL I wonder what else would work? Rina -
Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
Rinadoll replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
Let me start this by saying that I have strong allergies. To, you know, life. *g* Many things give me reactions, and have for the last 20 years, so I know from allergies. But BPAL is confounding me. I've never liked perfumes, due to allergies, but BPAL rocked my socks. The scents didn't give me headaches or make me sneeze, whee! Never had a contact allergy problem with BPAL, either, which is great. What it does do, however, is make me sleepy. I tend to wear scents sporadically, after years of conditioning against it, but this past December I wore Mistletoe almost daily. Shortly after, I noticed that whenever I wore any scent, I would get sleepy. Eyes would droop, eyes and mind would be foggy. Can I assume this is some kind of allergic reaction? It's one I'd never had before. I didn't wear any scents in the spring, given all of my outdoor allergies, not wanting to aggravate anything. Now it's summer and I want to start wearing things again. Has anyone else had a similar reaction? It was across the board, all scents, so I don't even know what components could be the trigger. Might I be better off diluting it with lotion? Going straight to a scent locket? Rina -

I'm not sure what overwhelming scent it was for me, if it was jasmine or something earthy (or is jasmine earthy?), but it was much, much too strong for me. I could hardly bear to have it even near me, so it got washed off really quickly. Off to the swaps with this puppy.

So much love! I wasn't qutie sure what to make of the scent in the imp - it was floral, which I'm not always keen on, but there was this sharpness to it, too. So I put some on. And I never want to take it off. LOL At first, I mostly got the blackberries, and it was perfect. I would have been thrilled had it stayed so blackberryish and fruity. Now it's softened a bit, I think the heather has come out to play. It's a little soapy, but not in a bad way. It's subtle and sophisticated with this just wee little bit of sweetness from the blackberries. I love it.

The plant of peace in Norse tradition. If enemies met in the forest and came upon a sprig, they laid down their arms and observed a truce until the next sunrise. Mistletoe! Oh, Mistletoe, how I love thee. I wasn't sure what I'd think of this scent; it was a last minuate addition to my order. I opened the bottle and smelled Christmas trees. I was in love. I dumped it on my wrists and sniffed happily the rest of the day. Definitely a lot of pine. I smelled the berries at first, even my mother commented on them, but they faded. I was pretty much left with a muted scent of pine, very spicy and Christmassy. I love it. The staying power wasnt as long as I'd have liked, though, except once - I accidentally spilled some on my desk (prompting a second order of two bottles!) and started scooping it onto me. Wrist, knees, cleavage, etc. The next night, more than 24 hours and a shower later, I still smelled like Mistletoe.

I've heard such good things about Snow White and so I knew I had to try it. Sniffing the imp, it was totally pina colada. Coconut, pineapple, reminded me a lot of my trip to Florida last winter. On me, it was mostly coconut, but very very faint and pale. Even though I thought I was very fairly liberal with my application, I could barely sniff anything after an hour. Overall, I liked it, I really did, but I prefer a scent with some more Oomph and staying power.

I adore Laudanum. A really lot. I also fell madly in love with Dracul upon first sniff. The catalog calls it gender neutral, but it kept popping up in the guy's thread. Well, at the very least, if I can't *have* a guy, I can at least smell like one. But I really do love these scents, and I'm glad they came my way. I was just surprised that I loved these "traditionally masculine" scents. Rina

I did a search and found a lot of people talking about scents to get their guys, but that's not a problem I currently have. (Sigh.) In my last order, I got several frimps that came up as masculine in the search results. At least one of them, I utterly adored. For me! How many gals wear these suggested or traditionally masculine scents? I know that no one but me and any BPALers I very randomly run into would realize that it was labled for guys, but still. I'm pretty sure I'll keep it and wear it happily, but it still feels a little weird to be wearing a "guy scent." Rina

I was looking for something cool and kinda sexy to wear to a special preview of RENT and a reception with Anthony Rapp. I sniffed all my sniffies, and this one felt just right. I put it on, and WHOA with the lime. I kept sniffing my wrists the whole way to the movie! I smelled like lime coke. Wasn't my aim, but I loved it. Then the clove came out, and a wee bit of almond, and still a lot with the lime. I really, really enjoyed the smell of it. I've tried a handful of BPALs and they all fade within a few hours. Not this one! I wore it Saturday, it's now Tuesday, and I still get whiffs of lime and incense. Very warm and comforting. I guess it's a good thing I liked it so much. I also got my first BPAL compliment wearing this one! So, definitely a keeper. I'd say I can't wait to wear it again, except I guess I'm still wearing it.
