I live in the midwest and we have a very well-known place that makes fresh and hot apple cider donuts rolled in white sugar. You get them hot from the fryer and we eat them with a jug of apple cider. I bring cups, napkins and wet wipes so we can eat them in the car because in my opinion, they become regular old donuts once they've cooled. They are hot so you get a crispy outside and a pillowy interior.. they melt in your mouth. When I saw this scent, I wanted it for nostalgia purposes. Sadly, it misses the mark for me personally. It's a nice apple cider scent but I get no real donut notes... I was hoping for that oil and cooked dough note. i wish I could post a photo for you of the donut. LOL

PUSSY Orange blossom honey, brown sugar, saffron, tonka absolute, and tobacco leaf. This is a very well-rounded scent. The tobacco leaf balances the honey. I'd call this a unisex scent for sure. I think this would be fabulous on a man. It's warm and comforting, kinda sexy. It dries down into such loviless on me.

Sweet snow and a wisp of peppermint. Really disappointed in this. I had no idea 'sweet snow' equaled pine trees... not what I was expecting at all .. so it's pine + peppermint. I'm a foodie... this isn't at all what I wanted. I'm sad... that was wasted cash. Darnit.

This season's Ridiculous Scent! Creepy like Creepy and as spooky as Spooky, this is the scent of a black cherry and coconut amaretto confection gently laced with saffron. OMG.. Yum! In the bottle .. when I sniffed it, I closed my eyes and said ‘yum’ … it’s a delicious almond note.. like amaretto… on the skin it’s even more gorgeous. The saffron is stunning in this. It’s a sweet cherry scent with the elegance of the saffron keeping it in line and at the very end, I get a tasty coconut! Love this! It’s very me. However, it sure doesn’t stick around! It ends up being something super soft.. almost a skin scent. I can't barely smell it now.

Vanilla Bean, Marshmallow, and Benzoin
mineralgirl replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Bottle sniff is a vanilla, I do get the vanilla from Antique Lace vibe off this as others have said. The marshmallow rounds it out. This seems like it will be light and have light throw. It's almost just a sweet skin scent on me. It fades off. -
Bottle sniff is weird.. I get that powdery marshmallow note, a little mint, a little lemon. On my skin, I get the same. it's oddly good. The longer it's on, the more the boiled sugar smell comes thru. My nose isn't sure why these notes are together but it likes it.

Bottle sniff is like a blueberry cough syrup.. not medicinal tho.. just that super sweet berry scent. On skin super sweet still, blueberry syrup, I do get the salt note too. It's just super, duper sweet!

On the bottle sniff, I get a sharpness, which I think is the frankincense. On my skin, the word that comes to mind is medicinal but I'm not sure what note could be doing that. Sadly, not what I was expecting or hoping for. On dry down the vanilla finally shows up but the sharpness is still overbearing on it. I feel like I'm not getting anything like everyone else is.

Bottle sniff, I get a sweet and smoky scent. On my arm, I get the cacao with sugar. I can't really pick out any specific notes aside from the cacao.. just a nice, sweet cacao.

HUNGRY GHOST MOON On the 14th day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, the Gates of Hell burst open, and ghosts pour forth from the Nine Darknesses into the sunlit world. To placate the dead, Hell Money is burned, offerings are made, and paper boats and floating lanterns are set out to give comfort and direction to wayward spirits. Though many spirits simply seek out the comforts of their former homes and the company of their loved ones, rancorous spirits also roam the streets, seeking revenge on those who have wronged them before, and after, their deaths. Offerings of sweet rice, ginger candy, sugar cane, smoky vanilla and rice wine mingle with a ghost's perfume of white sandalwood, wisteria, ho wood, ti, white grapefruit, and crystalline musk. This scent is tempered by the presence of ten herbs, woods and resins used in the purification of the spirit. Through this scent, we can release ourselves from sorrow and discontentment, unbinding our souls from the chains that shackle us to our baser needs so we may truly understand and experience compassion, empathy, and joy. The white grapefruit is at the forefront here for me. It's ruining it, actually. I get whiffs of sweetness and ginger and wisteria but it's almost all grapefruit on me.

CANDY CORN COATED CANDY APPLE Tart green apples coated in thick gobs of melty granulated white sugar, with butter, bourbon vanilla, and a dash of cinnamon, spattered by candy corn and candy sprinkles. This smells like a fresh fall apple. It's juicy and sweet with a hint of tartness. I don't get much else besides a faint sort of sugar sprinkle scent in the background. If you love apple, this is for you!

MARSHMALLOW PUMPKIN Marshmallow goo and pumpkin pulp! And yes this, too, is vegan! it's a sweet and spicy pumpkin and it's lovely. Oh! as it dries down (or the longer you sniff) I start to get the marshmallow! You can even smell the powdery stuff on it.. How does Beth DO that? It's kinda faint after it dries but I'd expect that from a marshmallow scent. Love it. I'm going to wear this with the Candy Corn Coated Candy Apple and Blue Pumpkin Floss as a trifecta of fall sweetness!

MARSHMALLOW PUMPKIN Marshmallow goo and pumpkin pulp! If you have the Marshmallow Pumpkin scent from last year then you already know what you're getting here... it's marshmallow-y goodness with a bit of spice. I use my bath oils as body oils after my shower. I'm so happy to have a lathering product to use with the scent oil. and the label art is fabulous. The cartoon girl is wearing BPAL socks!

well, I love dragon's blood so I was pretty sure thiw would be a winner for me but honestly, I got it for the name.. I mean, come on. Ok.. so it's dragon's blood and something a little edgy.. and headache inducing (I'm looking at you red musk) .. I had hoped it would be a little more mellow. I may ot be able to wear this... might go to the hubby. The red musk just has a shard floral edge that isn't working for my brain. I do get a slight whiff of honey.. it's a musky honey, not a sweet honey or maybe that is the red musk getting all up in the honey's business.. I dunno. Jury is out on this one but I'm leaning toward it ending up with the man.

oh, man ... I'm really glad I got this depsite the name. I really dread having to tell someone I'm wearing a vulva scent. I had resisted all vulvas up to this point. It starts off all nutty (the macadamia) with coconut and then it dries down into this magical sweet cream and marshmallow .. this might be worthy of a back up. edited to add - When I woke up this morning it was a sweet marshmallow. I love the dry down on this

This is very light on me... I can hardly smell it. It just disappears. It sort of a sweet honey on me but it's so light that I just can't even smell it.

wait.. what? We aren't allowed to have the links to wishlist in our profiles/signatures? A lot of people have that.. is this a new rule? I'm confused. -
Some Strangeness in the Proportion
mineralgirl replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Limited Editions
This went every which way of wrong on me. I won't post what it ended up smelling like on me because I don't want to ruin this scent for anyone.. let's just say it was not good. Bottle is going up for sale! I'm so disappointed.. it sounded really great. Stoooopid chemistry. -
Ok.. this is just weird. At first I got a shot of chocolate ..then it turned into an odd plastic-y scent that reminded me of a doll I had as a kid and that was very unpleasant but then it suddenly reminded me of when i worked in a restaurant... the back area where we had the dish washer and produce prep and walk in fridge.... it just smelled kind of industrial in nature. You know like maybe some guy with faded cologne, wearing rubber soled boots and had just washed his hands with back room sink soap.. I don't dislike it even tho it may sound that way. On me, it just smells like that quiet, nice man that worked in the kitchen.

Floral Recs for those who usually don't like florals
mineralgirl replied to Neko's topic in Recommendations
I can't stand florals ... heady florals give me a headache, lavender sends me straight into hell... but I do ok with light, white florals and it's even better if they are paired with something fruity, woods or sweet ... that said, I couldn't wear most of the ones listed above by everyone else. LOL We are all so different... luckily, with the GC's you can try before buying. These are ones I consider florals in my foody world and they work for me: GC - 51, Pele, Morocco (not really floral tho but everyone should just have it), Vasilissa LE's - Tiki Princess -
You bad enablers talked me right into this one and Question mark (which is coming in another order). I had zero interest in the Metas this year but you wouldn't shut up about them. LOL Wet, it's more about the hay.. it kinda worried me wet.. I didn't like it very much, but when it's dry.. it gets amazing...... I get a sweet hint of orange but not too tart or too fake ,, it's sweet but not cloying or anything. It's just beautiful.. subtle and sweet enough for this foodie but not so sweet that non-foodies won't like it.. it's tempered well with the tobacco/hay but they don't seem overly strong to me once it dries. I like it dry much better.. thankfully.

As a foodie, this had my name all over it. I was just concerned that the cake part would go acetone on me.. sometimes that buttery note goes straight to hell on me and ruins my life. Wet, it has a hint of that death note on me.. like it's gonna turn and make me sad.. but then .... as it dries down it becomes perfectly pink, strawberry bubblegummy frosting goodness. The cake finally comes out at dry down on me but I still get a hint of that bubblegum powder, which I love, so this is fantastic. Don't be scared off by the bubblegum tho.. it really does smell like cake and frosting. Honestly, if i closed my eyes and sniffed.. it's like someone stuck a piece of cake under my nose. 12/11 - I ended up selling this off. It had zero staying power on me and I just couldn't smell it at all.. it just disappeared.. I'm starting to think I will never find a cake scent to work for me. I haz a sad.

Wet, it's all smoke and wood.... then as it starts to dry it becomes gorgeous and so nicely blended. It's warm and not sweet but it has enough sweetness to work well for the foodie I am. I can smell the wax more when it's going from wet into dry down. It dries down into perfection on me. It has a spicy wood scent with a light smoke in the air. I don't really get the vanilla ice cream on me. The smoke is amazing tho. How does Beth DO that?
