well.. I got something totally different than marared! when I first read the description, every note but juniper I could totally get behind. I'm a big fruit girl and I was holding my breath that it wouldn't ruin the whole shebang. bottle: lemon-lime & juniper. Like I dumped a sprite over the bushes. wet: more of the fruit comes front and center .. it smells like you're in a forest, eating fruit salad under the juniper trees. The white grape gives it a bit of a tartness and makes it almost like a fruity alcoholic drink - like the grapes are just starting to turn to wine. It does give a little effervescence. dry-down: the fruit has stepped up a little more as the juniper starts to play nice. I think Marared nailed it when she called it 'fizzy' .. I hadn't thought of that until I read that and I do agree it has a strange fizz factor. It sweetens up the longer I have it on. It's sort of like when you sprinkle sugar on fresh fruit and let it sit for a bit before indulging. final word: keeper once it dries down and the juniper chills the hell out!

I tend to hope for the best when a description has notes I'm not fond of... I very often think that maybe those notes will not show themselves ... in this case the patchouli and the moss had me concerned .... I so wanted this to work..... color me bottle: sugared patchouli wet: same, more patchouli than sugar as it dries: the moss comes forward, as does the red currant. I really get no vanilla and I think it's the molasses that is showing as the 'sugar' to sweeten this. I was hoping the patchouli would have stayed in the background but it's not... it seems to be here to stay in the front, pushing back the other players. .. it's almost all patchouli on me. The sugar even sends the patchouli into pencil shaving category for me after dry down. final word: if you'd like sweet patchouli, this is for you! I may try it in my scent locket to see what happens there. I'm not sure I'm keeping this.

is '51' a general cat label or something else?

This was a frimp from the lab. It's nothing I ever would have thought I'd like and yet... I do. It may be bottleworthy even. It's clean and fresh and just fruity enough for this floral-hater, has a nice non-sweet bite to it. I can get the woody smoke from it too if I look for it ... I'm sorta giddy with this one! I'll need to test it a few more times but I'm diggin' it

In the vial it's all lovely cocoa-ish .. on my skin the sandalwood doesn't play nice! it goes all pencil shavings. Damnit. It had such potential too! I'm disappointed!

well, the first thing I did when I sniffed the imp was made a face. It smells kinda sour to my nose. It's actually kinda like the scent of a tequila sunrise to me. Sort of an acidic OJ topped off with the sharpness of the tequila. Nope... I don't wanna wake up smelling like I had one too many last night. kthxbai!

I'd been dying to try this one since I read the reviews. I love coconut and I'd love to find a true coconut scent. This isn't it for me personally. It's a definate coconut-milk scent with a slight fruitness. I can picture a bowl of figs with honey drizzled over them and sprinkled with coconut. I don't hate it but it's just this side of nauseating for me as some milk scents can get. I think of babies and I don't like babies. I think it's lovely but I think it isn't me. I don't think the imp will even find a place in my keeper box.

for once, I'm actually getting the same stages as reviews on the BPAL forum! I get fresh strawberries at first and it smells like something familiar that I can't figure out... and then it morphs totally into green-ness and dandelion .... then the strawberry starts to come back out but it's a bit player later on... peeking from the sidelines. I wish the berry would come back a little bit stronger but towards the end I can finally get a small whiff of sugar. I am curious what this will do in my locket. I don't like the green phase (of course) but I'm not totally counting this out just yet. I think it's 75% like.

I got this because the story was so incredibly cute and was so full of sentiment that I just had to support Beth in it. I actually bought two of these .. I have no idea what made me do that! In the bottle it's very much a sharp floral and on it stays floral with a citrusy vibe. I do get the salt and lime of the margarita but it has more flowers than I'd personally like ..I wish it had fallen onto the sweet side of the fence just a smidge more. It's the jasmine that is keeping it so white hot floral.. but I don't hate jasmine at all.. it's one of the few florals I can wear and like. However.. after awhile on the final dry down, it went stinky on me. I have two bottles of it. Damn. It dried completely down to a floral that reminds me of a nursing home ... it smells 'mature' for lack of a better word. Not something I will personally wear. I'm bummed. I wanted to love it. The bottle art is so incredibly adorable too.

Obatala I can't wear it because it reminds me of babies. I don't like babies.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
mineralgirl replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
I have a friend who wears the Coach fragrance and I'd love to enable her with some BPAL imps .... any suggestions for this one? I'm going to start researching, of course... but I know there are lots of people here who know the catalog better than I do and might be able to help with imp suggestions. I'd prefer GC's so I can get samples! Top notes of tart green mandarin, guava, violet petals and water lily Mid notes of genet flower, honey, orange flower, mimosa and jasmine Base notes of sandalwood, amberwood and vanilla. -
The Arrival at the Sabbath and Homage to the Devil
mineralgirl replied to LittleGreyKitten's topic in The Salon
This may have finally taught me a lesson. I have to stop buying things unsniffed unless they are a moon or something. I was never interested in the Salon scents because I didn't think I'd ever pay $25.50 for a bottle but then Beth stuck the Velvets on the Salon page and as I was scrolling, this one sucked me in and I read every review and almost all of them said 'caramel' ... well, here I am, stuck with yet another bottle of unloved precious! I was hoping for sweet.... I get a vague caramel scent but it's mostly a mature womans floral. All I get is the iris and i think sandalwood. I feel incredibly stupid right now for buying this. -
Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self Similarity v4

The number was already long gone by the time I unwrapped it. It's a very long number tho..I can see a little silver all across the label. I hope they can come up with some way to prevent that from happening in the future. This my second bottle of CTV: Snake Oil that I got (a third is on order) and this one smells like someone was eating breakfast in the lab and spilled their orange juice in my SO! It's a bright and orange-y delight. Fun! It's a bit like those orange rolls that come in a can.. it kinda reminds me of the frosting on those. My first bottle was fig ... so I'm hoping my third is like cake or sugary ..... just keep those nasty florals away! -
I just got Velvet Unicorn about 10 minutes ago! The bottle art is very 70's... I love it. I'm a little disappointed. Based on the WC reviews and then the ones here, I was expecting full-on sugar rush with this but it has a floral edge to it and I hate florals. I am a huge foodie girl... I live for the sugar! I love Midway:Resurrected (I only have an imp from a friend) but this is not at all similiar to this to my nose. Maybe it's my chemistry. In the bottle, it smells pretty sugary. On my skin, I can smell the powdery edge of the rainbow sprinkles and it has a bit of creaminess that I suspect is from the meringue. I think the cherry edges out the strawberry but they are both present. There is just a weird floral undercurrent that is keeping this from being something I can totally love. Maybe this will age into something I can love. I'll have to wait and see.

My Dorian (#68) is just terrible for me personally. I had a friend who is better at notes than I am tell me what she thought.. she thinks it's the amber that is in FALLEN and some bergamot. I wish I knew how to offer this for swap! I'm not gonna keep this.. I'm more of a foodie girl. -
I get lemon goodness here and luckily, no lavender note (I hate lavender) and then on dry down it evens out to a mellow vanilla-lemon scent with a slight tea-ness. It doesn't last on me tho... too faint.

I love this! It's minty and fresh and just really beautiful. It has an effervescence to it that makes it come alive. My bottle will be here in a couple days. I can't wait!

This is just sexy on my husband.. it's still one of my faves on him. -
I had been dying to try this so I finally ordered an imp and I got it today. I loved it so much that I tacked on a bottle with my update order! I can't do florals so the 'perfume' promised in this scared me a lot but luckily, all I got was sweet and innocent bubblegum! I can even smell the powder that is on each piece as you pop it into your mouth! There is s a slight cherry tartness in the background. It's just too much fun!

When I tried this on my skin, all I got was an incense shop.. the sandalwood was overpowering everything else but when I put it on my husband - it was fabulous. It might be bottle worthy for him. We are still testing a few Dragon's sto be sure we get the best one for him.

This is a libertine's celebration of decadence, debauchery, and sexual freedom: orange blossom, ambergris, orris root, white rose, lemon balm, jonquil, carrot seed, and benzoin. I smell the orange bloosom and the carrot seed (well, it smells like carrots!) and it's too floral for this foodie girl but I love to try any frimps that come my way.... off to the trade bag

I placed two orders thru Amazon and I had them both in about 10 days! I still got frimps and postcards like a regular lab order.. it's great to get some almost instant gratification!
