iWet: Earthy (oakmoss?) and a little seed-y. There was the vague whiff of rotting for a moment. Is that what's meant by "indolic"? Dry: L wrist - some honeysuckle, more musky with a whiff of Playdoh. R wrist - soft powdery jasmine and musk Really dry: Both wrists are taking on that weird plasticky note. I'm pleasantly flowery. I really had to get up close and personal to smell her. I don't mind that: I don't always want to be huffed from six feet out. Hrm. She doesn't love me and I'm iffy on her. I thought this would be more salty than it is but that's my bad for not reading. This isn't a wild free swimming open-ocean mermaid. This is contained and while pleasant, a little melancholy.

Wet: BANANANANANANANANNANANA bubblegum. Guessing that's the mint making it weird powdery. Dry: L wrist - banana bubblegum/candy R wrist - banana, pineapple, and honey Dry-dry: I smell like some kind of umbrella drink. I know I amp sugary scents so I shouldn't have been surprised.

I wore this when it was fresh several almost a year ago. It seems to be settled now. Wet: Apple and grass. Dry: Apple, cinnamon, and a vaguely dirt note I associate with nutmeg? I'm an apple pie with an attitude.

Wet: All lavender. It's not that we aren't friends, it just smothers everything else when I put it on. Dry: That expensive decorative soap you're not supposed to use in your great aunt's guest bathroom (but you do once a year at the holidays out of rebellion and she gives you the LOOK because she can smell it on you) with some salty aquatic lurking. This is something for someone looking for a "clean" smell.

[....] The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. An earthy scent, with deep, deep roots, bringing stability and security in tumultuous times: 15-year aged patchouli, bourbon vanilla, oakmoss, Himalayan cedar, tobacco leaf, birch tar, tonka bean, and leather accord. Wet: Whew boy. Cedar and I don't get along in anything *side-eyes Hilma*: it came out and punched me in the nose. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD!!!! gave way to what I can only describe as pencil shavings. Dry: Nose doesn't hurt anymore. L wrist - Not sure what to make of this. It's well blended. Warm, a little dirty (patchouli?), with a tang of wood and leather. It's comforting. I wouldn't mind if my blanket smelled like this during the winter. R wrist - Smells a bit like Western Diamondback (presumably the tonka bean and leather).

Tea and peach with sweet melon and flowers. I feel expensive but in a soft, approachable way. I think it will be perfect for summer.

The first big spray of this was kind of unpleasant, like OFF! or an overpowering soap. Whatever it was went away quickly. This is smoke and wood and I wish there was a man around to try it on. It's sexy.

Wet: Kelp and salty sea! Childhood trips to Monterey right here. I hope it lasts. Dry: I think the frankincense is coming out. Still primarily aquatic on both wrists. The florals are trying to sneak out after but not so much that I can pick them out. Thalassa is definitely a Northern California/West Coast mermaid on my skin. She is not the death mermaid of Neptunite Phoenix.

Wet: Orange creamsicle! Not mad at it. It's not cloying. Dry: The orange faded fast on me, like less than ten minutes fast. Whatever is left is warm and spicy--I assume it's the patchouli. L wrist - something vaguely flowery on the edges but I really think my skin ate this.
-
Wet: I smell like a forest! All it needs is a little redwood and I'm Yosemite when it rains. The minty green note ran out in a hurry. Dry L wrist - still forest R wrist - more rainy forest but not Washington rainy and green

Imp: cognac and sandalwood. Wet: Roses (resin-y like Pride) and sandalwood. If the sweet is the cherry blossom, it just suckerpunched me in the nose but my skin amps sweet smells to my detriment. Dry: L wrist - wood and resin with the ghost of roses R wrist - rosey baby powder and resin I put this on my forearm out of curiosity. I'm getting more of the full harmony of the scent although the resin and rose are still the biggest players. I wish I could freeze it here. It's very pretty. This was gone in less than an hour on my wrists. I found this surprising given how big it came out of the gate.

Literally just got this in the mail about ten minutes ago. Something about the notes grabbed me on a swap page. Wet: This smells like something I used to have. Sea of Glass? I haven't had it for years (like a decade so I could be totally wrong) but that's what came to mind. That but heavy. Dry: L wrist - masculine aquatic R wrist - dark salt aquatic (with flowers popping in and out) I feel like this is more Pisces than the Pisces scent. The song "Murmaider II: The Water God" popped in my head. Upthread, @Casablanca said homicidal mermaids. Great minds... Edit: Morning after - delightfully salty on both wrists

I snagged a bottle of this to see what the hubbub was about. Wet: Rose, wood, and spice. I like this. It feels grown without being...matronly? This isn't usually my speed (I think Ava loves me more) but I appreciate how complex it is. I'd put this on for a black tie event. Dry: L wrist - honey, spice, incense, sandalwood R wrist - incense, sandalwood All my rose is gone! I kind of smell like my friend's store that caters to Burners. That's probably the incense and sandalwood. It's not overpowering like the store can be...but I really miss the rose. I wish there was a single note that I could layer with this at this stage.

Bottle: Weirdly...sweet. Dry something. I don't quite get it. Might be cross-contamination with an imp that had a chocolatey smell. Wet: This is definitely not subtle. L wrist- smoke (like Moai) and LEATHER R wrist - smoke and something astringent (sage?) Dry: L wrist - smoke and dry sweet something R wrist - smoke and gunpowder (something like the note in Brimstone; assuming that's sulfur) I haphazardly think this is what a demon might smell like. A little aired out so as not to be as conspicuous but still big. This might be a go-to "I don't like you: go away" perfumes for crappy meetings at work like Brimstone is now. Very dey: L wrist - all brown leather R wrist - I don't know where the leather went. It's almost hiding on my R wrist. It's worn like tack or boots. Smoke is still there but not as acrid or intense. Think a hoodie a week after a bonfire.

Imp: Antiseptic/household cleaner and wood. *suspicious* Wet: MAN. I AM A MANLY PIRATE MAN. SALTY DARK WOODS IN YO FACE!!! Dry: Hey, warm wood, here. Didn't mean to overwhelm you. Still here for you with my depth and spicy character. I'd cuddle with me right now. I almost washed it off because it was incredibly manly on me.- 26 replies

2019 Yule Wet: ...Play-doh. My wrists usually smell different from each other but on this they agree. What have I done. Just dry: There's something sweet and flowery happening here. Can't make it out. I can see where people get "coconut." Dry: GREEN. I don't know if freesias bloom at night but I can't smell them: all I get is this green smell. Soft florals--not heavy or overly sweet. Snow has poked through. I like this. It's got a "clean" vibe.

Roses (in your face) in a glass vase (the sharp) with water (vaguely watery/green). The kind of big deep red roses you get when someone's trying to get back in your good graces. While Pride grabs you by the face and says "I'm here!!!," this one is more "I will beat you with this bouquet, thorns and all, if you cross me." I feel like--scratch that, I KNOW I'm Queen Bitch of the Universe when I wear this.

Full disclosure: my wrists interact with scents differently; typically, each wrist beams out different notes in the same smell. Wet: COMET. The powdery green stuff you scrub your bathtub with Comet. THAT Comet. Rarely are both wrists in agreement but on this...one side just smelled more flowery than the other. Hours later: Still Comet. 15 hours later, including derby practice: finally nice skin but better. I don't think this one likes me.

I've tried this twice now. I spent a long time trying to figure it out (read: huffing myself) and it got my mom's attention. She made a face--the same face when she smells Western Diamondback--and said it smelled like a "[me]" kind of smell without elaborating on what that meant. Maybe she means confusing; in contrast, her current favorite isn't as complicated in terms or scent or morphing. 1st test (a four days ago): Wet: clean metal and snow Just dry: I AM A TIGERBLOOD SNOW CONE!!! Dry dry: snow and candy (Red Vines) Post drydown: strawberry and plastic candy (that Twizzler kind of smell but more pleasant) and something warm I can't place (tobacco?) 2nd test (today): Wet: tobacco and the metal smell from Metal Phoenix Just dry: tobacco and snow Dry dry: snow and something warm to keep it from going too sweet. Post drydown: warm, vaguely sweet, spicy with snow and metal popping their heads out occasionally I'm gonna blame my body for the swing from sugar bomb to sturdy fall perfume/low key cologne. This is wild. I'll have to try this again in a week to see how different I smell.

One of my favorite layering combos is Pride + Brom Bones. The Fourth Lash is their baby who favors its vain and haughty mother.

I tried this at the Lunacy event today and wanted to love this so badly: magnolia and I have been BFFs since Josie. Wet: This hit me in the face. All I could think was wet and slimy...green? Definitely WET. The nice lady in the green lipstick that smelled it described it as muddy and agreed with my assessment that my skin was not having it with this smell. It turned in to a floral something several hours later.

My skin amplifies sweet so this is literally as described: in your face peach, magnolias, and honey. I wear this when I want to announce myself and flirt shamelessly. I could roll in this for the rest of my life and will gladly give any unwanted bottles/imps a forever home.

Never owned a lace or monster scent so this is new territory. I've got odd skin--I beam sugar scents out to ten feet away even when I can't smell it and vetiver smells like hot processed meat while it's on--so there's no telling where this is going. Wet: Immediate scent was reminiscent of Skin So Soft. Mom said "sort of." Slightly dry: Dirty vanilla starts to creep out. More dry: Dirt and roses. Like Earth Phoenix and Pride had a baby...and some wild evergreen lurks on the edges. I wish it would've stopped here. It felt kind of wild. Does the lab regularly make something like this? Dry dry: Warm incense. I think this is what Black Temple Burlesque Troupe (cacao, musk, tobacco) would smell like on me if it wasn't murdered by the chocolate scent turning in to industrial strength baby powder.

This is definitely peach. It's not a fresh or canned drippy sticky sweet or candy-type peach. It's the fuzzy soft smell of a peach picked fresh from the tree and some soft flowers in the back as an afterthought. The Manly Guinea Pig likes it and suggested I wear it two days in a row. It's more mellow and less of a fizzy punch in the nose compared to the peach scent I got from Bath and Body Works. Definitely a keeper and I might find another bottle for my peace of mind.

Wet: Uh.....root beer....? I'm pretty sure I smell like A&W, maybe faintly of cream soda. Drying: Root beer and the dreaded baby powder. Dried: Still root beer and baby powder. Pretty strong throw, though.
