I adore amber, and interestingly enough I don't think I like this one. I sense a bit of the amber that I get from Aglacea (sp?) but the rest of the notes are kicking my ass in a bad way. It's all floral and spicy and not good. *le sigh* The quest continues.

It's satsuma season here in SF. Wet, this remind me of satsumas. It's a bit citrusy, but in a really sweet flowery way. There was something green in the vial, but it seems to have run away now that this is on my skin. As this is drying, it's amping up the amber which I LOVE!!! This is beautiful and juicy and wonderful, a great daytime scent. Sunny and bright.

I hate hate hate patchouli. Abhor it. And yet I like this. I don't like earthy scents. And yet I like this. I want to make some sort of wood sprite costume to wear with this scent. Amazing.

    Anathema

Wow, this is so heavy. In the vial the opium comes on really strong. It mellows as it dries, into a really pretty really intense floral. The honeysuckle comes to the forefront, but it deepened and darkened by the other ingredients. It's not something I would ever wear, and thus, off to the swaps it goes.

In the vial, this is nummy and grapefruity, with a touch of tea in the background. As usual, my skin takes and amps the tea to ridiculous proportions. With the white tea, however, that's not a totally terrible thing. White tea smells and tastes like hay to me. But I like the smell of hay. Overall, however, I think I'll send this off to the swaps. Someone else would love to have this.

    Bathsheba

In the imp this is a gorgeous juicy plum-thing, with the carnation lurking in the background. On my skin, it is all spicy musk...weird. I think this one might have to go back into the imp box and get tried again...I'm not sure how I feel about the spicyness...it doesn't immediately turn me off.

This has the evergreen note that I adore in Val San Retour. I want a boy that I can slather in this. It's very crisp and clean and a bit damp, like a snowfall in a pine forest. Going out cutting a christmas tree. Very nice.

    The Lady of Shalott

Beautiful and complex and utterly not me. I would love to smell this on some pretty elegant Jackie O. type. Clean and crisp and always proper. Oddly, on my skin it turns into the smell of cucumber peels.

    Kostnice

In the vial this is kind of rosey and woody. Like mature roses, mama roses. As it dried on my skin, the rose note stayed prominent, but mellow. This is SO unsusual for me, as my skin amps anything rosey to unwearable very quickly. A keeper.

    Sacred Whore of Babylon

Wet, I got the gardenia tromping all over everything! I got a little whiff of cinnamon, but that's about it. Dry now, it's all gardenia. *sigh* Oh, there was the cinnamon for a second. Damn, now it's gone again. Gardenias remind me of streetcorner flower vendors from when I would come to San Francisco as a kid. They would sell gardenias for ladies to pin to their coats, and I absolutely adored that, and always begged my mom to get me one.

    Mata Hari

All the reviews I've read of this are like: OMG THE COFFEE!!! What coffee? I get jasmine and rose and rose and jasmine. Pretty, but overly floral for me. From wet to dry, the whole thing is amazingly jasmine and rose. I can barely smell the coffee in the vial, but that's it.

    Maenad

I'm getting mostly a dirty darkness from this. That must be the black poppy. *sigh* Why must my skin always amp the notes that I don't want to smell? The strawberry is popping out as well, and is amazingly painfully sweet. *sigh* Off to the swaps!

    Queen of Clubs

The description of this really excited me. I wasn't sure what myrrh smeled like, but the rest of the notes sounded yummy. Sadly, this smelled like dirty dirty dirt on me. Blech. Interesting note, however: I have a decant imp of this, and it's separated into two distinct layers, a pale gold layer and a deeper amber layer.

    Lady MacBeth

Ok, this is a decant, and maybe it's the wrong thing, but this smelled NOTHING like the reviews I read. Ok, in the vial it was sweet and juicy and all that. Too fruity, I was thinking, but I gave it a shot. On wet it immediately picked up a scary perfumey icky note. Like the caustic badness that many commercial perfumes have. I don't know what it is, but I call it the icky perfume smell. It's now 11:50. I put this on at 10. It's completely gone. So weird.

I really really like this. I'm not getting any of the cat poo smell at all. It's just yummy animalistic goodness. I can't see myself wearing this on a regular basis, but I would pounce a boy who was wearing it in an instant. Debating buying a bottle. Maybe I'll try to pick on up in the swaps...I hate being poor.
