When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I got a frimp of SZEPASSZONY in my last order, and it turns out I really like this scent more than I imagined I would. It was one I never even considered when looking at the description. Are there any other scents that are similar to this one that anyone can recommend to try? Thanks.

    Jack

Jack is a kitchen filled with cinnamon pumpkin pies fresh out of the oven. A fire crackles in the fireplace. It's cold outside with the crispness of after holloween. Air that just chills you to the bone. And you just want a warm cup of cider and to wrap yourself in a blanket and sit in front of the fireplace watching it burn while you let all these comforts of home wash over you. Jack feels like comfort from the cold, harsh world and smells like what we dream holidays should be like, with lots of loving relatives and smiles and hugs. Everybody is happy to see you, and you're happy to see them. And you could just sit in front of this warm fire and soak up all that goodness because that's exactly the way life is supposed to be. Hours later, it's still lasting on me and as strong as when I applied it. The pumpkin has softened and the clove is coming out to play a bit more.

    Szepasszony

Szepasszony is a really nice crisp smell. Very fresh and light but not too light. Soft, feminine, airy and clean is how I would describe it. But not like soap or florals. That's not what I'm getting. It's a scent that makes me imagine a guy wanting to curl up with me and cuddle and be sweet and caring. Nothing sexy about it, but a kind of goodness that evokes thoughts of playfulness and gentleness and fields of colorful flowers that you can't smell at all, but the breeze is light and clean and maybe just a tad cool, like it's blowing off a lake. Just absolutely fresh air. God, this scent just brings so many nice things to mind. It's the scent I really needed to help me with my mood today. Thank you lab. I thinking I might have to get a bottle of this.

    The Hanging Gardens

In the bottle: sweet and fruity, plums, grapes and plumeria. For some reason it reminds me of a richer, sweeter, and bolder Bordello. Wet: Plumeria and plum stand out the most. Very rich and very sweet. Almost impossible to pull out any of the other notes. Drydown: The florals soften it now. It's not so overpoweringly sweet. It's still very sweet. If you don't like sweet fruity/floral smells, this would definitely not be for you, but it's really softened quite a bit so that it's more like sweet florals. The plum is still present, but so are the rose and gardenias. It has a nice balance. 2 hours: Time really brings out the best in this oil. It was almost overwhelmingly sweet at first (to some it probably would be), but now, it reminds me of roses with sugar on them. That's the image that comes to me. The rose note seems to become more prevalent as the fruit notes fade. It's like sitting in a flower garden in full bloom and on the table in front of you are platters of fruit. Lean one way, and you smell the fruit. Lean the other, and you smell the garden, but when a breeze flows through, they blend together, making them almost inseparable. That's exactly what this is like to me. The florals and fruits are just perfectly balanced, and unlike some other scents, they maintain their balance quite well. This is definitely one for those who love fruity and sweet floral blends. I'm in love with it.

    Glasgow

In the vial: A nicely even mix of berries and floral. Wet on my arm: Turned to heather. I couldn't even smell a hint of blackberry. Just heather. Dry: Very faint note of blackberry... well not even blackberry so much as a tinge of sweetness, but I have to keep sniffing to find it. The heather is drowing it out on me. I'm reminded of a linen or drawer spray or maybe one of those scent pouches you would slip in your draw to give it a fresh aroma. Sadly, this scent isn't for me. But that's okay because so many others are. Beth does a wonderful job!

How long do bottles & imps last?

I wanted to chime in here on the shelf life factor because I have essential oils and perfumes that I've had for years. I'm not kiddings. YEARS. And they haven't changed at all in scent. I keep them on a shelf in my bathroom closet where it's dark and dry. And I pulled out a scent that I've had for probably close to a decade (I kid you not! I got it on a cruise in St. Thomas where perfumes are dirt cheap) and I was planning to toss it, thinking it must have gone bad. Just out of curiosity, I sprayed it into the air and was stunned to find it hadn't changed at all. Smelled exactly as I remembered. Memories came rushing back. Then I tried it on and it was fine. Maybe that's something in the perfumers alcohol that keeps it good. As for essential oils, I never found they go bad or rancid on me. I keep them in a drawer or wooden box, out of light and heat, and I've never had a problem, to my happy surprise. But that's just my experience. I just wanted to add it just to say that it is possible for you to have oils or perfumes for ages and not have them change scent.
  7. I just finished reading this thread hoping to find some hints to other scents I would like. My favorites are: O Snake Oil Dana O'Shee Queen of Sheba Bewitched Gluttony Yep. Looks like a pattern forming here. Creamy. Sweet, but not overly sweet. I've tried probably a good dozen others, and have found that if there's a note in it that is sharp/strong or has a bit of bite to it (ginger, clove, strong musk, bergamot, moss), it goes horribly wrong on my skin or maybe just to my nose. I'm looking for something that would fit this bill that's a fruit essence. Not necessarily creamy but something that's a lightly sweet, but creamy would be nice too. I tried Jester but that was way too fruit punch-like on me. Any recommendations?
