in bottle - almonds, pastry, butter, cherry, and I do scent apricot in my bottle. but you gotta look for it. wet - the same, with more almonds, more cherry, and more apricot. i suspect this would be very pretty to anyone who liked the almond or cherry notes to start with. they probably smell nice on me. i cant get over the "cherry" here. the buttery pastry is nice, but not great. dry - I'm getting a lot more apricot than anything now, theres a hint of cherry and butter pastry. I like the apricot a lot however. rating - 6/10

in the bottle- tropical. But I think it has coconut. Plum, guava caramel stand out. No orange really. Wet - I get a bubblegum like scent, which I am guessing is just the fruity bits and sugar. Hints of a citrus come out. Fruit loops. Bubblegum and Fruitloops. Dry the bubble gum is gone. I've got sugar, I've got fruit, and i'll swear i've got cream or caramel. or both. it's very soft now. There's still a little bite from the blood orange. Rating 8/10 The wet stage goes away fast, so I'm happy.

in the decant - nuts, nutmeg, butter, sugar, cinnamon. It's a little too sweet. I'm not so sure about this. wet - pastry, with nuts, lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. Still kinda eh on this. The nuts i'm not so sure about. dry - now it's cookies. with nuts, and sugar, and nutmeg and a hint of cardamom. The nuts didnt do that wierd morph thing on me they sometimes do, which made me happy (they can go all burnt), and it's no longer too sweet, although it's about as sweet as i like anything. Rating 6/10 I may just not be in the mood for this tonight though, it's worth retesting and I might like it better later.

in the bottle - there's lime and citrus here, but i dont think it's straight up lime. I think like, lime herb or something. i get aquatic which must be lichen, it's slightly green to my nose too. Incense and pit stench however not so much. Which is FINE BY ME. Wet - i agree, there's lightly sugared cream, lime, and aquatics here. This is WAY not what I expected. There's apple then later. I'm starting to get a *hint* of incense or musk. It's not bad though. just strange. Dry a little incense a little apple a little aquatic a little citrus a little cream Rating 5/10 Interesting, not bad, just..not sure I want to wear it much.

in bottle - i smell a mix of all three notes. wet - cocoa amps here, with a musky background and tobacco. I dont mind the tobacco but the musk, or the combination, just really doesnt work for me. dry - mostly tobacco, then some musk, a hint of cocoa. The last being the only reason I haven't washed it off. I can see how others would find this pretty, but it's too dark, too smokey, and too masculine with my skin chemistry and tastes. it eventually settles down more and is a slightly lighter scent but i'm still not digging the musk all that much. it's okay. in the bottle - citrus, but not lemon. I get orange out of this more than that. Oil and metal. Orange, Oil, Metal. A little dust. wet - about the same, more metallic and oil than citrus. I'm having a really hard time describing this. Golden is a good "color" for it. though. dry - spiced oranges? I..must be nuts. I get spiced oranges. on metal. lots of metal. Interesting. definately interesting. but nothing I'd reach for regularly as someone else said. Rating - 5/10 (debating 5 and 6 heavily here). I think I"ll keep it and retest/wear later and see what i think.

In bottle - I smell florals and eucalyptus and bergamot. I dont get the lemon yet. Wet - holy cow! lemon! with florals and yuzu and eucalyptus and bergamot as well. It's..kind of bathroom cleaner scent though. not bad, i'm just not entirely sure it's something I want to wear. it'd make a nice room scent. dry - the lemon settles down on this, thankfully. i get yuzu and eucalyptus and bergamot still but also freesia and other florals and it's lost that bathroom air freshner scent. i think i'd love this in summer, or spring. just not a winter/yule scent to me. Rating - 7/10 1/2 bottle is plenty for me!

in the bottle - very sweet eggnog, i can smell coffee liquor, and nutmeg. If there's brandy here it's very sweet and not real boozy (but i think champagne is the ultimate boozy scent, so what do I know?) buttery for sure. wet - coffee with butter, sugar, and cream. with a hint of nutmeg. I have to admit, I didn't expect coffee in this, and coffee just isn't my favorite note. It's too close to the real thing and if I want to smell the real thing, I can get it. and I dont like *wearing* it. It reminds me of coffee with maybe butterscotch candy and nutmeg dropped in. dry- the coffee settles down, it's still there, but now i get more butter and cream. i'm a big fan of cream scents, this isn't a favorite but it's still good. Rating - 6/10 Have about a 1/2 full bottle and that's about enough.

in the bottle - red wine, red currants, gelatin (yes i swear this), a hint of plum. Wet - sweet red berries. oh my god. So good. red berries drowning in wine. and plum. This is less boozy and more sweet on me and just so wonderful. It's not sticky maple syrup sweet but it's definately candy sweet. dry - more plum red berry and jelly. Wine? what wine. This is the perfect rasberry/current/plum CANDY on me. With Throw. Hella throw. one drop and i'm like..whoa. okay that's enough. Rating - 10/10 Have a 1/2 bottle and I think that there is a full one in my immediate future.

i bottle- green green. But I like it. Which is rare. With some floral in the background. I got nothin for oak, but i do smell the varnish wet - green, with varnished oak. I swear this. It's like being in a house where the oak floors have recently been redone but not on the spot. No floral though. The oak/varnish scent isn't bad on me (certainly not gasoline), but, it's a little wierd. With my wrists away from me, amusingly enough, i get floral! Apparenly it has throw but is overpowered upclose! (and wow is it PRETTY). dry - The varnished oak has settled down. It's a nice mix of green/oak/varnish/lilies. Yes. I said varnish was good. I'm not kidding. It's insane (and I've no hesitancy of calling out when a blend is totally hated on me). However, only the lilies seem to have throw. A lot of throw. So pretty. Rating - 8/10 for wearing (This is one of the only green scents I've tried that works on me, at all). Room/Locket Scent? - No Bottle Buy? I want to!

Okay, frankly, Bizzare. But pretty. In the bottle it's a pretty wet floral. Not at ALL what I expected. I was really worried about a lot of act V when I ordered it, and have been oddly befuddled by what was hits and what was misses. I likely would never have tried this based on the notes and really missed out. That said in the bottle it's a watery floral. There's no mushroom like in one of the Le Mat scents, that really turned me off. I also dont get mint. Wet - it's a slightly odd floral, I think this is the mint coming out. However Dry down - Citrus. Way citrus. It makes me think of Grapefruit or blood orange. Dry - i get a slightly earthy incense, with an aquatic floral in the background. The citrus is mostly gone but it's still there lurking in the background. I never really get the "death" that is violet here. However the violet in Faith (unless it's Hope, i get them mixed up), works on me. So this might be comparable to that. The description seems way off on this one. Rating - 7/10

black butterfly moon - oriental and floral. then turns to a dark mossy wooded floral. I think of damp woods at night, but it's more "green/floral" than the wood scents I can't wear. It does get sweeter as it dries. dry - currents and lily! any woodsy scent is very faint now. it's only been 15 minutes so not a *bad* shift time and i was happily suprised! Still not a fav, but worth retesting another time and wearing as is. Rating 6/10

This one just isn't my thing. It's too masculine and woodsy wet on me. with a smell that reminds me of coconut but isn't (I dont know which note it is), it's a little mossy while wet. Dry though, it's just...whatever reminds me of coconut and it's kind of a dirt like wood on me that really isn't pleasant. This is nothing like Samhain on me or anything else that's been previously compared to in this thread. 3/10 on the rating scale. Love the artwork, not the scent.

Lavender normally doesn work on me. it morphs. In bottle - vanilla lavender. This would make a great scent locket or put some on the pillow or something NOT ON ME for sleeptimes. Wet - i can smell the morphed sort of acidic scent of lavender in this, so far, hrrr, dissapointed and glad it's just an imp. dry - the lavender doesnt exist anymore. I think there is also however lilac in this- because i am getting the soft floral others describe that i know isn't lavender. It's also very sugary sweet, however not the sticky over-sweet maple syrup smell some other blends have (thankfully, i cant stand it). It's sugar followed by vanilla followed by floral. I dont really get herbs, but i suspect they're adding to the depth/complexity and I just cant pick them out. Overall - it's a nice blend, but I'm currently debating whether I would wear it as a perfume. Will test tonight to see if it helps me sleep. I'm something of a poor sleeper hence the interest. Update - It did better in a retest on me, more vanilla, and the lavender stayed truer on later tests. I'd give it a 7/10 scent wise. However, it gets a 10/10 for effectiveness. I'm a terrible sleeper and while this does not solve the problem, this absolutely helps. I wont be wearing it as a perfume only because I want to keep it only for it's intended purpose. Which, I'll be wanting a bottle for! Both for wear, and scenting things.

Well, initial description was yay bottle sniff - i was kinda horrified. There is some bpal note that I know is NOT vinegar, that my nose interprets AS vinegar. I've wondered if i've gotten off perfume a few times for it and come to the conclusion that it is in fact, me. (that and I used to live with another BPAL fanatic who didnt have this problem and could verify this for me.) It's something else bright and tart that I just interpret that way wet - it's not so good. It's really really not. the vinegar smell is there along with some berry scent. And that's...it. It's odd. but i can also tell it hasn't settled. 5 min later - it's okay. It's not a winner for me but it's not a looser either. I get musky honey now, with *tart* berry in the background. It's just...it's not my thing? 1/2 hour later - hey, this is kinda nice. honey, with a little musk. and sweeter berry in the background. this actually smells pretty good. If it keeps getting better like this i'll knock that rating up. In conclusion- 5/10 on the prism scale, but I'm going to give it some time to age and frankly my own body chemistry I know has been whacked lately. So, we'll give it another go around later.

The Phantom Cow of Yerba Buena Island
Prism replied to midnight_aeval's topic in Event Exclusive Oils
I love milk notes. Well, specifically this one. That said- wet on skin this reminds me INSTANTLY of white Rabbit actually. It's got the same milk note as milk moon 07 (love), but it reminds me more of white rabbit because i'm getting a citrusy scent alongside. Drydown - this morphs a little on me. the milk vanishes for a little while (phantom cow indeed), and I get dusty light florals (I suppose this could be dust + sweet herbs and I just dont have a trained enough nose to differentiate). Then the milk note comes back sweeter. and i start smelling the herbal scent that people are thinking is oregano, but i dont think it is. dry - herbs & milk. It's a very faint scent on me though. Milk Moon and White Rabbit are 10 and 9 on my scale, this is only about a 7 i think. Will update later with what it becomes later. -
Wet - mostly cream dry - cream! this reminds me a lot of the note in milk moon 07 and that actually makes me happy. there's floral, wax, and tea in there. The floral is very suprising honestly. I think the wool and pepper are only *slightly* here, so this scent doesn't seem"wierd" to me at all, unusual, but wonderful. Rating 9/10

Wet - I get spice, serious spice. It's probably the only fire/brimstone scent I've tried that does'nt go powdery on me. I notice citrus here that's pleasant. There's a richness underlying to it that's a little herby/woodsy, but I dont get sweetness or vanilla at all. I didn't read the notes beforehand and would NEVER have guessed what's in it. Dry - Oh my god I'm so happy I bought a bottle of this when I saw it go up for a reasonable price without waffling about it. It's rum & vanilla. with a hint of the earlier spice and a hint of I want to say florals. Maybe the Life Everlasting as it's related to the daisy family? I dont know. But either way. it's wonderful. I enjoy both the wet and dry version of this but I've found I adore variants on vanilla (I hated almost all vanilla scents before BPAL, now i'm in love. Go fig)

In the imp - roses and violets. The rose is crisp and clean to my nose, and reminds me a little of rose Red (as opposed to London or Pride). Wet - The rose scent throws on me well, a lot like rose red again, but the violets are strongly there as well, and they're a little bit bitter frankly. Dry - This rose fades out quickly, leaving a blend of both that has not much throw at all. It's still an even mix of the two flowers, the violet has sweetened up however. I had to wash my hands at work and the scent is 100% gone from one wrist even though I wasn't scrubbing. The other it's faint on and I put this on maybe an hour ago. Rating - 4 out of 10 Violet is just a note that I can see only works on me a small portion of the time, I would rate this a 5 or a 6 but the quick fade out has me wishing I had another perfume with me at work and I haven't been here very long!

Something in this one really does not work on me at all. In the bottle it smells to me just like "perfume" like, the sessence of all that is "perfume" and not in a good way. It's a little overwhelming. On me, i'm not sure anyone would believe it, but it smells like cheddar cheese and chemicals. Distinctly unpleasant. (Rating 1-10 : 0!) I didnt wait for the dry down, it had to come off NOW.

In the imp: Musky fruit Wet: Orange! Orange and Mango. Drydown - the orange and mango slowly give way to some of the musk and sandalwood. this continues till eventually the fruit smell is faint and the musk/sandalwood stands out. Not sure of how long it takes as I was crazy tired when I tested it but certainly not a long time and not a large throw on me. Probably a scent locket scent if I can ever get a scent locket! Rating out of 10 - 7.5 (on skin, would be higher if stronger/longer lasting)
-
In the Imp - pretty floral that reminds me of the asian kind of scents I like. Probably the green tea as it's not really an "oriental" scent at all. The notes all mix and play equally here. Wet - the lemon scent comes out a little too strongly initially. Drydown- the lemon scent fades down and the scents balance each other perfectly on me. Later - the green tea is probably the first note here, but the other two are still very noticable. Rating 1-10 10

Y'know, I'm glad that somebody has done this besides ME. *is renown as a klutz and was opening an imp, went and quickly got contacts out and has been rinsing it out and trying feverishly not to panic* Although truth be told the resolve cleaner i got in it once was probably worse, and i certainly lived through it with sight as intact as it ever was.

Earth Ox - in the bottle mixed fruit. I dont remember it well enough typing up this (later), to remember any notes that stood out Wet - Skittles! It's candy skittles! Like a whole bag stick your nose in throw sugar on top. It morphs into more cherry-like while it dries. Dry - a pleasantly mixed-fruit floral. The cherry settles down, and other notes come out like orange or lychee but none dominate. I dont pick up any earthy undertones here, but maybe I would in comparison to something else (still something of a new nose to BPAL). Either way - I like it. I think I'll enjoy wearing it more come summer, right now it feels odd to wear in cold Feb!
