WOW!!! I didn't smell this right when it went on, so it's half dry now, but it smells like an amazing mix of wood (cypress?) and sweet fruit (fig?). The cypress is not pencil shavings at all, but seems to have backup maybe from the rosemary. It's almost like woody bubblegum scent. So different! but surprisingly nice. There's another hint of something that seems a bit herbier still... Too many notes in this blend that I don't know off hand tho to name.

Rose at first, then violet. Nothing special. Almost a little soapy, but overall.. Just violet and rose. Neither of which really do anything special for me. Not jarringly floral like others. A good, mild girly scent. Makes me think of summer dresses. On complete drydown, it is pure rose. Smells just like my witch hazel-rose toner. Meh.

    Imp

In the imp this is really great-- sweet juicy plum, and a smack of patchouli. A good combination. Wet on skin, it seems even lovelier-- the peachs' headstrong sweetness mellows out with the other notes. Still sweet but it is earthier as well. As its drying, the peach seems to be receeding a whole lot. Maybe too much? The peach hangs around in the background, but the patchouli is slightly more dominant. I can hint at something even a bit sharper which might be the musk. Overall, this one makes me wish there were a hint of vanilla. Peach always reminds me of gummy candy. Good blend, though-- I would wear again.

In the imp: CHERRY. And thus, I shall avoid wearing.

Smells very.. Soapy on application. !!! Instigating a wave of hidden memory! What does this remind me of?! Almost.. An ocean memory? I guess, based on the description.. Men's cologne… BOD? THAT'S IT. That silly men's cologne stuff! Drying down to something softer, more feminine. Seems to be drying out into more of a laundry/linen-y scent? And now.. The scent of a hippy solid perfume in a rock jar with a carved lid from my friend Chad years ago...

    Seraglio

In bottle, reminiscent of almond(&orange?) biscotti. VERY almondy. WHOAAA ALMOND-ORANGE-something softer-NeroliRose-clove(?) Precisely that order in a matter of seconds on first contact. Sharp, high pitched (the citrus). The clove gives a nice analgesic smelling buzz as an "aftersniff". Drying out to be a little more spicy. The orange is definitely still there, but the almond is gone or merely a far backdrop. I think the neroli and rose are counterbalancing the orange, because there is no distinct ORANGE scent anymore. I'm liking this more and more as it dries. Initial sniff was overwhelming, now, it's a little curious. Not quite spicy enough yet, though, to take the "household cleaner" edge completely away at first sniff. If you take a deep breath of it, though, that's when you smell the spices.

    Satyr

Patchouli, in imp.. Perhaps also cinnamon… As soon as this hits skin it morphs like crazy. The patchouli is almost nonexistant, and I think.. Eucalyptus comes out in force. Something numbing to the nose. But there's also something .. Brown smelling. Maybe it's some sort of musk. This is no where near a girly scent. Starts to smell a bit like a barn/pig sty.. Definitely "wild" and satyr-like. Almost headache inducing.. just so strange. Not perfumey at ALL. Definitely some kind of musk.. reviews say civet. It's just too much. UGH. Time to wash off. Haha, after scrubbing this off, there's just residual patchouli smell which isnt so bad. Blah whatever that was though just smelled way too much of pig and eucalyptus.

In the imp.. This smells just DIRTY. Apparently I had NO idea what vetiver really smells like, this seems RANK. Test later… Resniff: No way am I skin testing that! BLECK. Could be rotting mushrooms for all I sniff. Gag worthy. Sorry, bpal, but no way.

    Salomé

Unexpectedly, this smells quite cedary, almost. I think it must be the oakmoss? Or could it be the sandalwood for once? It's cedar, but better. The jasmine is far in the background while this is wet. Fortunately the almond is not prominent. The musk I think is blending with the oakmoss/sandalwood. There's something that's almost.. fruity.. coming into play. This is a surprisingly good blend. Shame I put off trying it for so long! this stays in the realm of woody (mossy?) musk once its dry. I'd have expected the almond and jasmine to amp here, but they don't. Decent.

    O

Warm and soft and round. Smells just like its described, though theres almost a mustyness from the amber perhaps. Really mild, unobtrusive, and sweet, almost sexy? Good scent. On full dry down, it actually smells pretty similar to Mr. Butterball. Retest-- A little musky musky on contact. The honey isn't quite straightforward, but I can definitely smell it as a RAW honey. A little unattractive, as huffing large quantities of real honey is. I think that must be the "muskyness." Pretty heavy. Not exactly cloying, but very.. thick. The thickness seems to wear down as it dries out more. Much more vanilla and amber instead of husky honey. Lasted a surprisingly long time! put on at 10pm, could still smell clearly at 4am, and was noticeable when I woke up the next morning (10am or so). O, NO! Retesting a week before RMW... gross. No idea WHAT this is, but it's not happy. Tested on crook of arm, though-- not wrist. Weird body odor type smell. Not horrible, but not.. good. How strange!

    The Lady of Shalott

Very florally to begin with. Definitely not lily, haha. A soft, pale blue sort of floral scent. Familiar.. Maybe the gardenia is the prominent floral? After a bit the "aquatic" note that lingers in the beginning burns off, and what might have been the ginger too-- whats left is sort of funny. Not bad.. not quite melon, but ... funny. Swappable.

In the imp… chocolate covered oranges? Mixed with juicy fruit? Mostly juicy fruit. On skin, it is a quick morpher. Up close it smells like plasticky orange blossom. From a distance it is creamier and richer. A great blend of orange blossom, rose, and thick honey. Get too close, though, and it smells like stale suntan lotion with vague rose. As it's drying, the orange blossom seems to pick up uncomfortably. It smells less drastic up close, but also smells less appealing from a distance. Meh. Ah, but wait.. the Honey is picking itself out more and more! Confused at first with the OB.. it is rosey honey with a hint of orange blossom perhaps. HMM. Honey always seems to go a little funny with me, combined with OB and rose I'm not quite buying this scent. Almost, but not quite there. Swap.

    Harlot

In the imp, this smells like more than just one simple rose, the cinnamon is also just baaarely there. On skin, while wet, it turns into a very strange floral. Not generic rose, like my rose water, but more green and muddled. No real cinnamon to speak of. I can ALMOST hint at the presence of cinnamon, and I wish it would bloom, because the roses just smell off (others have said wet). It stays very close to the skin, too. Unusual rose blend, but not in a favorable way. Too green and becoming slightly powdery as well? Swap.

    Delight

imp sniff: of course this splatters all over me as I open it! >_< The tuberose, in the imp, brightens this out nicely. Splattered on skin, nothing unexpected from ROSE/JASMINE tag team of frumpiness. Swap awaaay.

    Defututa

In bottle, a smoky jasmine. Jasmine is still the most prominent on contact with skin. Quickly, though, another scent overrides the jasmine. One of the flowers, I think. The cinnamon gives that slight nose tingle, but doesn't crop up directly. As it dries even more, I think the 'smoky' vanilla is blooming and the honey is making the scent thick and gooey. There's a bit of a resemblence to skin musk somewhat... That cloying pseudo-sweetness. The scent might be petering out at a smoky sweetness. Not terribly appealing. The flowers are at the back, but they smell like they've been swallowed up in a tub of smokey honey. Almost enough to start giving me a headache. I was hoping that the cinnamon might keep this scent a little spicy and be especially nice with the "smoky" vanilla, but the cinnamon is totally gone. The champaca might be the top note that smells familiar from other scents. Not a big fan. Well I'll be damned, this keeps morphing. Not nearly as smoky anymore (about 10 minutes later)...The vanilla seems more prominent. When this is much more dry ~20 mins, there's the barest hint of a too-clean, soapiness, but overall it is thick honey, vanilla, and nudge of florals. It loses its smokiness, it loses the tropical champaca(musk) scent, and becomes a bit more demure (not unlike antque lace/O/Mouse's). Not quite bottle worthy, mostly because of the rig-a-ma-roll to get to this pleasing scent, and for it being soo much different than expected. I am wary. I should try O/Lace/Mouse's and Defututa and see which comes out on top for favorability. In the full drydown, this is actually really quite nice. as good as Mouse/O/Antique, perhaps.

    Bathsheba

Imp sniff: Smells primarily musky. Wet, this smells like a musky floral. Not quite carnation. I think it must be the plum and musk because there isn't yet any of the spiciness of carnation. This goes VERY plummy on me. Still no carnation (which I normally amp to high heaven) after about 10 minutes. Much less musky which is good. This plum also seems just a hint greener than some of the other plum scents I've worn. I think I can almost smell the carnation in the distance. Nice scent, but would have hoped for a little more carnation.

    Ave Maria Gratia Plena

Wet: Initial sniff is reminiscent of Moms' trademark perfume-- There are distinctly different notes behind that, though. Dry: Did not last long. Barely apparent after 3 hours. SUNFLOWERS, that was the name of mom's perfume I'm smelling here! Funny enough, though, I had my mom try this scent out and her skin chemistry warped this no where NEAR Sunflowers.

WHOA in bottle smells reeeally similar to Cherry Garcia, haha. Gets sort of mucky on the skin. The cherry goes a little sharp, the chocolate no longer smells chocolatey. The orange blossom seems like it might be amping and interfering with the other scents. It becomes more palatable as it dries down. Still strange though. Nothing like the individual notes listed. Orange blossom seems like it might just go sort of plasticy on me. Thankfully this did not last long, though I don't usual apply a lot.

    Tzadikim Nistarim

Ooo, strangely peachy. Slightly, ever so slightly, spicey. The peach begins to fade off and gets replaced with something a bit more herby. Green, but more of a dry green than living, juicy green. It might be the olive coming out, actually. I couldn't name frankincense, spikenard, or hyssop, so who knows otherwise. Overall, a keeper.

    Sloth

I could have SWORN this had patchouli in it, but apparently not. I tried this on without seeing the description and thought I was smelling patchouli all day. Not so. Vetiver and myrrh apparently aren't as bad as I thought. No bubblegum scent from either Also-- Lasted ALLLL day. Could still faintly smell it 24 hours later. Might have been inducing a headache all day when I wore it? But that could have been due to it being "RMW".

    Sin

Wow, a very husky scent. Patchouli like WHOA. Very woody. Sort of has that head shop, incense scent going for it. Somewhat similar to the Chandrika soap scent. Dries out to a muskier scent, though. A slight roundness to it as it's drying. Once dry, it has a MUCH more complex incense smell. Still heavy on the patchouli, but the cinnamon starts to kick in and give some warmth. Ooo, on full dry down it is much less straight head shop, and a lot rounder. Still maybe a bit too hippy for everyday wear. Satisfying once dry, though. Retest-- Not quite straight patchouli on contact. The cinnamon is definitely a strong counterpoint. Much sexier than just patchouli. The sandalwood makes it delectably smooth. Verrry nice. Not at all like the Chandrika this go around. (this is being applied right before RMW hits-- changes reaction?) Jumps back to straight patchouli..But not irritating. Just a hint of sandalwood. Seems to strip back and forth with patchouli and sandalwood. NOW, it seems to be just sandalwood, with the barest hint of patchouli. -- What the hell was I thinking? Tested once again, and this is BAM PATCHOULI LIKE WHOA. Might have been a bad time of month to try it? But DAMN. Just barely even a drop applied amongst both wrists and it was like getting a patchouli anvil dropped on me for the rest of the day.

    Roadhouse

I think what is supposed to come off as dandelions, just smells like green apples mostly. Up close is more of the "hemp" smell. Very very green smell. After several minutes, the dandelion fades to the background, and the hops seem to move forward. The scent is turning much dryer and grainier. The hops are twinging on beer smell.. almost with that little bit of carbonation. Strangely, I dont really mind the scent... The hops are actually pretty nice, as long as they stay hops, and not full fledged beer. This will make a good spring scent.

    Penitence

Almost…fruity in how bright this smells. This might be where the typical "soapy" scent comes from for me in other scents. Smells much smoother and richer from a distance, up close, soapy but slightly creamy. On drydown-- from a distance this is COMPLETELY bubblegum. For whatever reason, myrrh ALWAYS turns into bubblegum on my skin. Hmph. >

    Oblivion

In the imp, I think the dark musk and patchouli are most prominent. When it hits skin, though, it's much more wood and spice. Just a hint of something like pine-sol…Hm. So far, I'm not in love. Something new seems to be coming forward. Unfamiliar. Maybe it's the saffron?? Really strange. Really. Maybe it's the dark musk or labdanum? After reading labdanum's relation to ambergris(sperm whale) I get conotations of musky dead things. Strangely it begins smelling more pleasant after only a minute or two. Gets more subtle. ... Strange. Once this is dry its peculiar and unexpectedly intriguing. Worth another wear, but I am wary. It's on the verge of being too strange. In the right situation it could be attractive, but in the wrong situation it's certainly no good. Alright..After about an hour this is rather creamy with a hint of spice. The amount of stages it had to go through though, is wearying. Maybe this would be better NOT during RMW... (The drydown is indeed soo nice. Hmph) I think the full drydown reminds me of Hay Moon. Less grassy, but very golden and warm.

    Hymn

ROSE & LILY. So far, just like every other rose and lily blend. None of the other notes effect those two notes. The lily wins out. Bleh. No thank you.
