I was mildly surprised that Nocturne smells like rose. I get a more rosey version of Water of Notre Dame if that makes sense. I tend to associate watery rose blends with anything Venus related, but the energy and vibe are different. I do have to say that I slept pretty soundly, but woke up just a bit groggy. I used Ebon Nights the night before and I feel like at this stage, I may have a deeper resonance with Ebon Night. They both have similar yet different vibes. Nocturne to me feels like a comfy quilt, Ebon Night feels like a cloak of darkness you can sink into. Ebon Night may be in fact be more intense than Nocturne upon reflection. It's like Nyquil and Extra Strength Nyquil (not that I'm advocating using nyquil as a sleeping aid, unless of course congestion has you coughing so much you can't even sleep). I will use both sleep blends again in the upcoming days and post whatever edits I have.

You know how there's this debate about how fake plastic trees, while more convenient, just don't have that pine tree smell and none of the commercially available sprays even smells remotely like the real thing? BPAL has solved that problem. Now, your blue tinsel glitter ABBA-riffic Christmas tree can smell like the BEST Christmas tree ever. This smells like a spruce (pretty strongly of it), with just the right amount of snowy mint and slush. And yes, it is amazing. And like a tree. But better than a tree because your tree will die, but this spray will live on forever. FOREVER.

Yup. This smells like Banshee Beat. Oddly enough, the perfume is mainly a patchouli-based scent on my skin but the atmosphere version I can definitely smell more hemp and more vanilla. It's like I actually can smell all of the components at once and at the same time without having it be some sort of battle for nose supremacy. So yeah, if you love Banshee Beat or just want your house smell like patchouli, Revenant Rhythm is everything it purports to be. Rejoice!

Oh god oh god oh god. This smells like orange, a bit of candied orange rind, and then funnel cake. It's definitely got a strong citrus component, and it reminds me to Paintbox Soapworks "Pick a Duck" scent, except citrus based. It's got that funnel cake, slight smokiness, swirl of fresh breeze. UGH. SO GOOD. I am now going to go cry in under the Tree of Despair while I huff the tiny sniffie I received.

Red musk, plasticky vanilla, hint of patchouli and plum. And perhaps a whiff of Nacho Doritos? I don't understand the last one. But I swear I also got a whiff of them. Maeve is essentially a red musk blend, and yes it does remind me to Smut so I wonder if the plastickyness isn't perhaps due to a combination of vanilla + black musk. Maeve and I are definitely NOT getting along, but I can see her being a big hit with everyone else that enjoys blends like Mme. Moriarty or Smut. Alas, not this gal.

Okay, so I tried Ebon Night last night mainly because I needed some restful sleep, full of solace. This week has been very trying and stressful, and I didn't need to dream actually. If anything I may have needed to dream less. So I dabbed my chakras and prayed for a restful sleep. And I was out like a light, and like out in a deep sleep type of way. I think I had two REM cycles, and woke up feeling refreshed. I'm going to try Ebon Night again at some point to simply see if it helps with the dreaming. But for a "put you under and help you sleep even when stress keeps waking you up", this does the trick in a mighty fine way. It smells like a dark herbal lavender blend. The overall impression is lavender... and darkness.

Dry cherry, patchouli and sandalwood. It's a dry sandalwood with cherry and patchouli thrown in. It smells dusty, dry and very desertlike. Or perhaps better thought of as Indiana Jones in the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Hattie Taylor's House of Assignation Atmosphere Spray

Suede, leather, and notes of oak and cinnamon. This however really smells like suede, and its different from other leather blends. It's got texture going on. Manly, sexy, seductive. -
An Aged Town of Curious Customs Atmosphere Spray

White mint, hints of amber and resins. So this essentially smells like white mint, with an underbelly of minerally resins and earth. As dissipates, I get a touch of the tallow which I think just makes it ominous. But in general, this is a blast of white mint. -
Tobacco, worn leather, rum and a hint of oudh. This one is essentially a tobacco/leather blend, and it's warm, rummy, and a little contemplative. This is like sitting out on your porch at dusk, watching the night darkness fall, while sipping on some spiced rum.

Tree Roots, Fallen Leaves, and Tomb Moss Atmosphere Spray
zankoku_zen replied to Lycanthrope's topic in Atmosphere
Fallen leaves, slight oakmoss, and then some smooth cedary woods. This one smells like an old forest in the autumn time. With the damp earth, the fallen autumn leaves and the smell of woods. Deep, woodsy, forest. -
Goblin of Yuletide Yet To Come Atmospheric Spray

Frankincense, styrax and oakmoss. I get the oakmoss giving it a watery overlay, with the styrax adding a slight bitter and dark dimension to the smooth frankincense. It smells like a dark resinous incense.- 13 replies

Brown musk, red musk and a touch of saffron with a hint of leather. So this is smooth, warm, and soft. I think it's the brown musk plus the hint of leather. The red musk adds a sexy dimension to this, and in general I find this much more approachable than alot of musky blends. In some ways, it makes me think of Heroine... if she were out in the desert. There's a definitely "dry" component to this. So think Lara Croft in Egypt, and you get a general vibe of what this blend is like.

Rich salty aquatics, touch of hay, and mint. This smells like a deep oceanic blend. Clean, sort of smoky, and in general kinda soapy on me. Average throw, average wear length.
-
Aquatic notes, citrus, and pink apple? It smells like it should be pink apple (or potentially pear). It's one of those blends that makes me think of Neo-Tokyo - in which you've got a citrus/metal/fresh thing going on and it smells like the summer, but summer in the city. Breeze, metal and just enough citrus/apple notes to keep it fresh and add some sweetness to it.

Oh man, I get the green leaf note, the breeze, the smoky ashes and burning woods. This smells like camping, and outside, and it does have an edge to metal to it which is nice. I enjoy this because it reminds me so much to camping. Which I don't really like the experience of sleeping on the ground, but its still fun.

Foodie alert! So I get almonds, dates, cinnamon and then a bed of gingerbread. This smells like someone has been baking up gingerbread. No joke. And yes, holiday cheer and all that jazz is great, but I mean, warm baked gingerbread! Let's face it, part of the reason you love the holidays is the baked goods. Nuts. Now I'm totally craving gingerbread.

So red roses, followed by furry musk, and leather. A more masculine and furry version of Eldritch Dark? I think it's very apropos. You get that this is a sexy bedchamber scent, and the leather + musk + fur combination lets you know that this is an animal in the sack. Literally. And probably metaphorically as well.

Ooooh snap. This one smells like smoky vetiver (the sexy kind), balsam and pine. This is like sexy, manly Christmas. And by that I mean Santa knows if you've been naughty! To me, this is the olfactory equivalent of screwing under the mistletoe.
-
I get sweet cherry-almond, musk and a touch of amber and myrrh. So Bastet as a perfume was very amber heavy on me, and I find the atmo to be more along the lines of cherry almond musk, which I have to say evokes more of a playful feline quality to the blend. I find it a little 'perfumey' to be an effective atmosphere spray BUT if you love Bastet, I can see you love this.

I get incredibly strong patchouli - dirty, and visceral with just a touch of fig to sweeten it. I can see the people that love Banshee Beat going crazy for this hair gloss. I feel like it has the same sort of dirty patchouli, and the fig just adds a teeny bit of fruity sweetness to it.

Dust, clay, dragon's blood and a touch of gin. I find this one mildly disturbing. It has the same white chalky dust note that Clive Barker's The Day Burned White, which I find well... creepy. So take that dust, mix it with some blood so you get a mud mixture, and that's more or less where I find myself. It smells like the title implies, and its super ominous and apropos and while a great olfactory experience (in the same way that great horror movies are great, even when you're scared!), its not really a perfume in my mind. It's more like WHAM! Let's drop you off in a really horrific scene in a movie and watch you realize that YES, you are in a really horrible terrible place.

So on wet this smelled like a raisin. Which I think is the combination frankincense and anise, and something else. Now, it just sort of smells like licorice, vetiver and raisins. It straddles a weird foodie/resinous line for me. Honestly, it just smells like poisoned raisins. You know, the type that probably are delicious to consume, and then you just keel over dead two hours later with no warning. Dark, foodie, mysterious.

Piney, frosty, metallic. This smells masculine. You get the fresh snow, the pine and fir, and just a tad of metal. Very wintery.

Grog, is that you? This smells like rum, with patchouli and vetiver lacing the edges to ensure that it just doesn't smell like simply booze. It smells rich, buttery and very rummy. I sort of love this, and that's a complete surprise to me. But perhaps I just want some rum?
