It starts with moss and pine, a touch of light flowers. I get something that smells almost like animal musk and a whiff of chill air. I find this very atmospheric, and in alot of ways, what I would think of an old English Manor House that is inhabited by the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. Hazy, romantic, brooding.

Peach Candyfloss smells of peaches and sugar... and surprisingly to me, more than a whiff of coconut. I get candies, I get peaches, and a get some coconut. It's sweet, light, and delicious.

I get a ton of BPAL's peach note - fruity, juicy, succulent, and just a whiff of incense. In general, this smells super peachy, and very much on the sweet side without developing a candy-like sweetness.

Mrs. Palmer's Establishment Atmosphere Spray
zankoku_zen replied to zombiewench's topic in Atmosphere
Sweet tobacco, what smells like rum, and soft brown leather. This smells like a nicely worn in leather couch. Decadent, cozy, leather -
Definitely like Light of Men's Lives. Soft creamy beeswax and honey. Hint of smoke. If you like either honey or beeswax, give this a whirl.

Insula Ventorum smells like the Unsteady Governess stayed out too late one winter night. Tons of white tea fringed with minty eucalyptus on wet, dries down to tons of white tea, and hints of icy amber and cedar. This is cool, cold, and like a blast of winter air. Think of Foreigner's "Cold as Ice" and you got this. Easy, breezy, COLD.

Also previewed here by bheansidhe, here by TTP, and here by Ina Garten Davita Ectoplasm is lemon/lemongrass, something slightly gooey in nature, but overall it really reminds me to Lemon Scented Sticky Bat. There's no musk or fur, to it's more of a pure sense of lemon stickiness. I get a fair amount of sweetness from it actually and in general ends up as lemon candies on me. It's bright citrus, slight bite but nothing too bracing or crazy. Very tasty. Sweet, lemon, candy.

Sweet candy pink roses, hint of vanilla and apple blossom. Very sweet, very rosy. Very moisturizing.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
zankoku_zen replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
This is another LE, which kind of defeats the purpose of this thread, BUT it wasn't a number-limited run like Ava so you can find it floating around at times: Butterflies, Flowers, and Jewels Attending. Similar heady, feminine and flirty mix. Looking at the GC - have you given Dorian a shot? Someone in the Ava thread said they were like two sides of the same coin, where Ava is warmer and hazier and Dorian is more cool. But I can smell the resemblence: both give a sense of vanilla musk with some dainty florals and citrus. I haven't given Dorian a try yet, but it's been on the list! I'll order an imp on my next order, for sure (and keep an eye out for that LE!) Thanks for the sugestions! This. To me Dorian is the 'cool' version of vanilla fougere, in the same way that Ava is the 'warm' version. That has to be the closest GC/LE comparison I have. I adore Ava, and Dorian. And wear either one depending on how I'm feeling when I want a vanilla-heavy blend. -
I get sweet peaches, a touch of rose, and hay. This one is pretty light, and I only used I spritz on my wet hair and then blow dried it out. I may try it on when my hair is dry and see if that changes the throw. Pretty, light, peaches.

Cootie Blast Conjure-Style Ritual Spray
zankoku_zen replied to zombiewench's topic in Twilight Alchemy Lab
So I finally got my hands on some Cootie Blast. I used it after an argument (the day after, once the house was cleared out since both mr. zee_zee and the zee_zee kid had such a negative reaction to Release's smell). Cootie Blast from a smell standpoint is a softer citrus/citronella candle. I only used one spritz in the living room and upstairs. In general I think its helped just bring some calm into the rooms, and things that may have escalated before have been only minor irritants. There are alot of factors contributing to this, and I think Cootie Blast is one of them! I really hope this comes out again because I'd pick up a bottle. -
Roses, frankincense, and violets. This one is a dreamy, warm, resinous blend. Both the roses and violets give it a feminine edge, but there's something cool and mysterious lurking in the background. Deep, resinous, dreamy.

Playing Tag in a Garden Full of Gods

Jasmine tea (and its jasmine TEA, just to be clear), bergamot and sweet roses. I'm honestly surprised since jasmine and I have a supernemesis relationship going on. The jasmine isn't aggressive, and its super pretty. It's closer to real jasmine as opposed to the cat pee type. It's soft, delicate, and playful. More along the lines of a traditional white floral perfume but lighter and a little irreverent. -
Mermaid, there is something here that smells like popcorn to me. So I have fresh gardenia, bubblegum and popcorn with a dash of sea water to keep things from being too sweet or too floral. It's more of a dressing up as a mermaid than an actual mermaid blend. Cute, sunny, and sweet.

Grass, sunshine, something lemony and dirt. There's also something in here that smells like clean laundry. And as it dries, I get a bit of red licorice wafting throughout the blend. It smells like outside, sunshine, and candy.

Captain Lilith and her First Mate

Boozy coconut macaroons. I get rum, coconut, and a slightly plasticky vanilla on the drydown. So, ultra foodie. Ultra coconutty, ultra rummy. So if that sounds like a trifecta you would like to bathe in, give this one a whirl. For my part, none of those things are really my boat, so I'm getting off at the next port. -
Rose, clary sage, frankincense. This is a serene, contemplative, beautiful resinous blend. It's meant to be soothing and calming, and it is. If you like slightly rose, resinous blends, give this a whirl.

Oh god, this is a very lush white floral. Heady magnolia, oleander, carnation and frankincense. This is a quiet, contemplative, blend that would have been right at home with the Funereal Oil line. Lovely, classic, white florals. ETA: Huge throw. Like massive. This sucker apparently loves my skin and one dab is very very heavily scented for me.

Yes to Twilight's Lush bomb reference. Yes to the lavender, patchouli, fig and vanilla. So on wet, it's more of a lavender fig blend. As it dries, I get more vanilla, more patchouli and 1000x more snuggles. This blend is ultra comforting, ultra snuggling, and just want to envelope you in one giant hug. This blend tells you it will always love you, no matter what. This is BPAL's version of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up. Minus the cheese, and 100x the adorableness. Hearts a flutter, and off to hunt me down some more.

Venustas, you make me so torn. It starts out as a very femme fougere. It's practically all fougere, all the time. And as it dries, I get more of the vanilla and myrrh and it ends up fully dry, as a slightly powdery, slightly rosey skin musk. It has very low throw at this point. But what I do smell is a deeply feminine, deeply comforting, skin musk perfume. It has such a deep feminine energy to it, and love. You can tell how much love when into crafting this blend. There is a gauzy dreaminess in this blend about the woman that is yet to be. So beautifully nuanced and complex. I find Venustas to be a deeply evocative blend. Perhaps because I am a parent that I find it to be so resonant, but this is may be by far my favorite Lilith blend.

I really and truly wanted to love this. On wet, I get loads of blueberry and lemon, a fair amount of lavender but it just smells fresh. This is a sunny, green, fresh blend. This smells like an afternoon picking berries in the sunlight. As it dries, it turns more into a heavy lemon candy blend. In some ways, it reminds me to Lemon Scented Sticky Bat. Fresh, summery, lemon.

Strong chicory coffee and baked goods. As it dries, I get more of a bitter coffee note with burnt edges on it. Sadly, my skin eats this up. But on wet, oh yeah, coffee and baked goods. Very foodie. Very coffee.

Oh, oh, oh. So I get grass, coneflowers, daisies, and I swear a touch of dirt. This is very Host of Air-like, but less airy and definitely more grounded. In feel, it sort of feels more like the Silver Stream from the Coraline blend though. It is a very pensive and contemplative blend, slightly somber but encapsulates the very notion of walking through a cemetery and realizing these were people, and now this is their home, and you are visiting at the moment.

Oh man, I get something that smells like fresh laundry in the sun, green herbs and wild flowers. i swear is there some heather or ivy going on in here? But yeah, overall, fresh summery laundry. In alot of ways, it reminds me to Papow (the blend that was made in honor of Puddin's dog) with the summer outside, the fresh wildflowers and grass. It's simple, evocative of a summer day in the sunshine outside, and just powerful. Flying Kites to me is not just a perfume - it's a moment in time with someone that is truly loved that is being shared publicly. It's the remembrance of a moment so powerful that even those that have not experienced it can catch a glimpse of what it must be like.

On wet, this is pralines and cream. And then it morphs. I get something that smells almost like melted coconut suntan lotion. And then it dries to a creamy almond and powdered sugar blend. Soft, powdery, almond.
