Powdery floral honey dries down to a honey/pepper sandalwood blend. If the pepper hadn't shown up at the end, I think I would probably think more favorably of this blend. Unfortunately.... I can't.
-
This one is very odd to me. It's anise and pink white flowers. There's a hint of vanilla to it, which makes the overall blend seem like a kissing cousin to Humbug. I find this more wearable to Humbug, and for those of you out there that like Absinthe and anise, this is definitely one to try.

This makes me think of a more limey Nivea Cream. Lime, white florals, in particularly white musk and roses. Feminine, light and pretty.
-
Definitely strong in the balsam, juniper and patchouli. It's a resinous blend, masculine, smooth and I find that I get more frankincense on the drydown. Not my type of blend and after four hours, it is nearly gone.

2009 version. Butterscotch plastic. Made.of.fail. This must have BPAL's cream note as a component. BOOOOO.

This one was a smoky resinous blend, spicy and resin-woody. I think there's some balsam and maybe some sandalwood. Meh.

The Malignant Dreams of Cthulhu in Love
zankoku_zen replied to Ravenclaw79's topic in Retail Exclusive Oils
Oh, Cthulu. You are an odd one indeed. On wet, it smells like dark planty cocoa... and dries to plastic graham cookie chocolate water. ... Yeah. Just... odd. -
So on wet there is definitely PINE and a slight orange twist to it. The orange goes sour so it makes the pine smell off, but it dries to a rather masculine delicious clove. Mmm. I have found I tend to enjoy my clove when it is mixed with other things, or it ends up to masculine on me.

Woof. This is very sweet. I get tons of sweet pea and plum from this. So on me, this is a sticky, sickly sweet sugar plum sort of scent. Sweet, sweet, floral.
-
Amber and violet powder, translucent vanilla and semi plasticky leather. My skin also eats this up. 30 minutes after being applied, it's gone.
-
Leather, clove, hint of metal and vanilla. Very masculine, and yes its sort of like Spanked, and Raven Moon (without the chilli). I just know I've smelled something like this before. This is for adventurous men, who wear leather because cotton and denim rips too easily, can build a flying apparatus from abandoned old Russian ex-missile debris, and knows the secret to making a good panna cotta that his grandmother taught him ages ago.

Dusty patchouli incense, medicinal edge of green and a sweet, syrupy vanilla.
-
Very green, very leafy, very woody balsam. Like a forest. And it dries down to a leather musky cologne. Very masculine with just a hint of vanilla. Sort of a really masculine version of Liz.
-
Definitely boozy on wet. Very velvety chocolate. I find that this chocolate to be an amped up version of Bliss, since there is a slight 'graham cracker' vibe on the drydown.

GAH! This is a white floral soap. I have to say that the pikaki is the most dominant note, and the gardenia gives is a rather sour edge.
-
Definitely think it is pumpkin and melon. I got a pretty strong melon note on wet and very buttery pumpkin. Definitely a proto for the Pumpkin Patch type blends. ETA: Pumpkin! Definitely on wet, and I am getting some very fruit pomegranate. It's a pumpkin/pom mix, and its bright, fruity and sugary. In fact, I'm not entirely sure that the pom isn't dominating the pumpkin in this blend. Definitely a good pumpkin patch blend!

Okay, so this one is a very high pitched white floral - personally I think it has some jasmine, maybe some gardenia and I think a touch of pikaki? As it dries I get a white ginger/white tea combination that isn't unpleasant but can't seem to override the white floral --- which has turned ever so slightly soapy on me. I really do think this has a bit of gardenia in it, ad on the drydown there is this ever so slight wet wool sort of smell to it. I am not so big on white florals. There is something like a bright citrus flavoring (and it is possibly bergamot) but very faint. I get no leather, and let me tell you, if there WAS leather, my skin would have found it.

Clove discussion! including bitter clove and clove cigarettes
zankoku_zen replied to amaltheagray's topic in Recommendations
Just wanted to add that Uranus had a strong clove and black tea component. -
I seem to have neglected to post my review here... In any case, unlike v4, this one has no orange but rather more of a lemon citrus overlay over a darker, richer incense. Again, the comparison to No 93 Engine springs to mind. And then it gets bitter with pepper and myrrh. Poo on them.

Milky creamy carnation and baby powder and a touch of green. I think this also has a drop of honey. Not for me!
-
Okay, so this totally doesn't work on me. I get BAY, patchouli and sandalwood. Where is the tobacco? The lime? Lemon verbena? Clove? All of these elements called to me. And now, they aren't here!
-
This one is a soft flowery one. On wet I definitely get more of the ginger, but as it dries, it is a soft jasmine/rose blend. Very pretty, very feminine.
-
This smells like honeyed carnations, but as it dries down, I get more carnations and cardamom and ends up smelling... well, not quite as pleasant on me. BOO. On wet it smelled delicious, but after toweling off... well...

Light, creamy eggnog with just a whiff of coffee. I really enjoy how 'milky' this blend is. Except my skin eats this up. Like literally. 10 minutes later and its gone.

I get spicy baked goods covered in powdered sugar/flour. The powder aspect takes over on my skin chemistry. Pass.
