Orange Phoenix does start out like fizzy Orange Crush. As it dries however, the fizz runs out and it makes it resemble orange Pez candy. It's got a slightly creamy/powder sugar quality to it. I liked it best when it was Orange Crush-like though. It was like you dumped Orange Crush on yourself.

Named in honor of the primeval Greek Goddess of Night. A scent reflecting inky black skies and eternal desolation. Night-blooming jasmine, warmed by myrrh, lifted by the promise of rose. GAAAH. Jasmine. All over. It even dominates over the rose. .... AIIIEEEE. *runs and hides from wrist*

Incantation starts out as industrial cleaner - it's got a giant fume of LEMON and man cologne. Pass.

Berry Scents - Blackberry, Red Berries

Anyone looking for a nice, bright blackberry blend should definitely try Couple Consulting an Enpon. I really got the blackberry note in that one! -
Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I'm wearing No 93 Engine, and I have to say some of the smokiness makes me think of Voodoo Queen. It's a little more metallic than VQ, which is muskier. But I remember that Sapphics had that same musky base, so I would try layering Sapphics and No. 93 Engine. I love all three, for different reasons, but I am trying to help out those that might have VQ cravings and can't seem to get enough! -
Leather. Leather. Leather. This smells like a leather shop (the kind that sells the actual hides... not the sex shop!). On wet, it has more of that chemical smell that I associate with curing of hides. My grandfather used to be a shoe maker, and one of my uncles used to cure hides for him... and it's got that same sort of smell. It burns off after a while, and what you're left with is soft, supple leather. Definitely makes me think of 'brown' leather, as opposed to lack. For some, the smell of leather is intrinsically sexual. For me, it's more of a nostalgic/childhood smell. That being said, as an actual perfume, it's too masculine for me.

Definitely agree that this is Skadi's big brother. This one is a strong, masculine fir/pine note with just a bare hint of snow and perhaps a slight, ever so slight, berry/mistletoe note to it. It smells green, tree-like and winter. Clean, crisp, and very much the counterpart to the Oak King. I can definitely see Oak King and Holly King being released as a pair though, and I hope they are released.

This one had a strong whiskey/alcohol note that burned off at the beginning. Throughout it there was definitely OAK and wood in there. In fact, it made me think of the oak casks in which whiskey is kept. That sort of bears a similarity with Mad Sweeney... but I always felt MS was more of a drunk's scent. As it has dried, the nuttier aspects and spices have come out. I definitely think this has a bit of almond, a hint of musk, perhaps a drop or two cardamom, and I think there is some vanilla (or perhaps benzoin) lending some sweetness to the blend. This has a very 'masculine' vibe in the olden sort of way. It's not full of testosterone... it's simply a male presence. It feels old. It also is a 'warm' scent. I think this would be smashing on the right guy. The kind that likes forests, trees, bonfires and having sex outside.

DCVI I get this minty/herbal scent. At the beginning, I swear this had some sort of anise in it, but very very light. It had a minty feel to it, as opposed to actual mint. It's cool and refreshing. The herbalness of it feels almost like basil, in that it's slightly sweet. If there is cake here, it's very light. I get no butteriness or anything heavy, two associations which come to mind with more traditionally 'cake' BPAL's involved. There is a soft vanilla base here and perhaps even a touch of powdered sugar. Overall, I was hoping it would be foodier. Apparently, I am up the mint-like qualities, instead. I have to say that the sweet slushy snow note in this blend is almost exactly like the one in Ice Queen and the Darkling Thrush. However, this one is more of a fall blend as opposed to a true winter one. It's got part of the autumn leaves/tree thing going on, that you can smell underneath the snow. I like it well enough, since I do love Ice Queen.

Okay, so on wet it smelled like green smoky bacon. As it dries, it's still smoky (ah... vetiver) although less obnoxious. It's like cigarette smoke. Pass.

This one is definitely a musky cherry blossom with just an edge of bitterness. It's softly sexy and very delicate. I really like it.

Plum blossom, vanilla sandalwood, nutmeg, and wild rice. This one was very much plum and vanilla sandalwood. And definitely dries down to almost just vanilla sandalwood and nutmeg. The nutmeg is very prominent and probably what makes everyone at home think 'potpourri'. It's very pretty on the drydown, but kinda generic.

This one basically is a very green cologne, that degenerates into a patchouli and cedar lovefest. Not for me.

I am marveling at the fact that the cream note in this doesn't go to plastic. This is a very fruity blend on me.... I get the fig/berry mix and it's a very cold, Asian jelly sort of vibe with a hint of creaminess. At the beginning, it was fruity paper. But now it's definitely more of a fruity dessert. I'm not sure I'm entirely sold on it, but I love the concept!

The Magi is an odd blend for me. The myrrh is very high pitched in this one, lending an almost 'golden metal' overtone to it. It actually makes me think of oiled gears. Perhaps a steampunk Jesus would approve? Kinda fresh, kinda metal. Interesting.

Lycaon smells like a green patchouli - kinda furry, and kinda powdery. In fact, for a werewolf, it's got a vaguely masculine wood spice. It smells more rugged than anything else.

I find this blend to be very edible - sweet peach wine with hints of citrus and something darker in the back. I think it's the wood violet. As it dries, you still get some of the sweetness of the peach, but I'm definitely amping up the wood violet. So it's a nice, sweet woodsy blend with a hint of spicy carnation. I feel like this is a good introduction to people that are looking for a nice woody blend, that isn't too woody or dark. It's very light and festive!

This started up very promising, a nice fresh cut floral with just a hint of rose and then jasmine and honey decided to take over. So it's a super sweet jasmine. It's a pretty jasmine. Most of the time jasmine goes to cat pee on me ---- too sharp. But in this one, it's more like the fragrant jasmine blooms you can pick right off the plant. So, hurray for finding a jasmine blend that works and is really pretty. I'm not so thrilled that it's just that. I guess I wanted a little more complexity.

So far this is on the fast track for me to pick up a bottle. On me the vanilla and heliotrope are warm, and this blend has this delicious caramel/brown sugar overtone that isn't too foodie or overpowering, just slightly ever so slightly on the side of foodie. Combined with the pear/grape for a touch of fruit, I get just the teensy bit of lily. Lovely. Very close to the skin. Warm and tasty. Oh yes, I most definitely like this one!

This one is indeed a very PINK rose. It doesn't have the voluptousness that I associate with red roses, nor the innocence of say a white rose. It has a very overall pink impression. It's sweet, and there's a certain freshness that makes me think 'watermelon'.
-
This one is a clear white kind of floral, slightly juicy, slightly fruity. The violet is just a tiny bit powdery. Just teensy. Pretty.
-
This one started out as a dirty, green scent. It turned pretty smoky fast, with hints of lilies and what I thought was patchouli. It was a very somber blend.
-
The plumeria was very aggressive on the wet stage, overpowering everything. After that I got the lilies, a bit I think, but then the ambergris went powdery. It also had a strange 'clean' sort of feel to it, but mainly it was very plumeria on me. Ah well.

This is a very nice clean floral with linen overtones and the sweetness of honey. It kinda did make me think of a tissue - papery, soft and clean. It's a very 'clean' sort of feel going into it. Like going 'au naturel'.
