Not crazy about any of the notes here. I would say this is a pretty rose that isn't overwhelming and the cream doesn't go to plastic and the honey isn't too aggressive. It makes me think of yellow roses, actually. Very creamy, very girly, very innocent. Wonderfully executed.

Oh god, on wet, immediately this is a bad pumpkin/man cologne/leather scent. As it dries, that goes away and I get water and pumpkins - it is a watery pumpkin, but really its more like water and pumpkin bits. After an hour, it is most definitely leather and pumpkin. Yeah, not for me.

Hmmm, this is like burning wood -except the trace of smoke is faint, and it's very sinister. The smoke does have that 'stony' edged. It has this light, almost sweet overlay, until you sniff deeper and you get the acrid smoke. Erm... Spooky.

This one is so... odd on me. It's this wine and salty blood thing going on. Which I don't know if I like or I'm just a little perturbed about. Probably both. Don't get me wrong, it smells *nice*, it's just I'm not entirely sure what to make of it.

MCCCLXIV I got this as a frimp - I have to say lemon and orange candies. It's got this lemon fizz going on wet, which is very strong, but as it dries, I get more of an orange vibe from it. This is bright, sunny, sugary. Tasty.

I really get the bay rum and tobacco on the drydown. On wet, it was a very faint, vaguely sweet sort of resinous blend. Now the brimstome and tobacco have come out, and there's a hint of vanilla. I was wondering what all the fuss was about, and I have to say this isn't me. Ah well, I'm sure someone else will love it more.

This didn't turn out as expected. I get a lot of pepper and cedar from it. There is a bit of moss, but its way way back in the foreground. It's basically pepper and cedar. Made.of.lose *sigh* I was hoping for a green scent, instead I got pepper.

Seriously, thai coconut curry... except without the curry. It's got this creamy pumpkin and coconut. The pumpkin actually makes me think of squash. I think the mango in here just adds a teensy bit of sweetness, and it general, its like this yummy thai sauce. It makes me hungry. Seriously hungry. I can't wear this scent or I'd become like a thai craving hobbit. Eating all the time.

Okay, if I were a guy, Brom Bones would be the sex. I would be a total lady killer. It's got that leather from C. Auguste Dupin, and it's just manly, butch leather. Dupin went scary on me, and the leather was too much. Here it's sleek and just manly. The testosterone comes out in waves. There's I think a tiny tinge of citrus on the drydown. It smells horrible on the husband. On him, the entire combination smells like a chemical preservative. So way too butch for me to wear, and on him, it's utter disaster. Good thing he fell for the Hessian instead.

This is a warm sunny pumpkin, surprisingly light. I don't get a huge ozone/metal thing. I get pumpkin, a little hay and a little golden sunshine. Very pretty. If anyone hated pumpkin, I would try to change their minds with this scent.

Oh man, I liked this much better on wet. On wet, it was woodsy and ivy and this must have some sort of amber or patchouli, because on the drydown it goes very powdery. Like Johnson's baby talcum. Yup. Baby powder.

MVJBA: Summer Summoning Spectacular

Oh god, this is such a unique blend. On wet, it kinda smelled like soy sauce and coffee grounds. As it dried, I got more of the scorched earth and coffee grounds. Now that it's dried, I get the sweet pancake syrup, on top of the bitter coffee. It actually makes me a little hungry... -
This is a spicy, resinous blend. I think there is dragon's blood resin, and possibly cinnamon in it. It does go a teensy bit powdery on me. Ah well.
-
This is dragon blood and jasmine. And let me tell ya, jasmine definitely dominates this blend. I doubt this will inspire much sexual playfulness in my house, since my husband smelled this and went 'cat pee' and decidedly stayed away from me. Yeah, not a winner for me.

This is a cornucopia of coconut. Yes, there is a faint tinge of jasmine floral and a sandalwood base, but really this has got to be the most coconut of BPAL scents. And this isn't like your watery coconut from suntan lotions. No sirree. This is the coconut of coconut milk. This is the aroma of splitting a fresh coconut. This is coconut in your face rubbing its coconut goodness all over you. But then again, I tend to amp coconut like no one's business.

Wow, this is pretty. And yes, very much like grass. Green, green grass in cool weather. Fabulous.
-
I kinda get the Irish Spring. It's a very astringent woody note. And actually, it makes me think of my husband. So while I like the scent, I'm not sure I want to smelly like my hubby. It's got this clean ozoney aquatic feel to it, but underneath its got a green wood base.

Mmmm. Oats. This is apple, oats hay cereal tasty warmness. Oh yes. This is what dreams of having a pony is like. Tasty!

This is a very manly cologne - manly in the way, fur caps, wool capes and rattling swords are. The vetiver is dark, but not overpowering, it's got a certain man-fume to it. Sophisticated, sleek, elegant. This is Clive Owen in a leather jacket. That's what it smells like. And seriously... Clive Owen. Hubba hubba hubba.
-
I definitely got lemon, opium and florals from this. The rosewood is particularly prominent, esp. on the drydown. The tobacco, oddly enough, is just a curl of smoke. Interesting, but not for me.
-
Whisky and oak. I enjoy this scent much more than I thought I would. My husband feels it's a little too 'Old Spice' for him. It's a little sweet, and I think that makes this blend so much more enjoyable.
-
Hmm. I get the spicy amber, and something that kinda reminds me to formaldehyde. I don't know what it is, but it's not appealing to my skin...

I agree very much with the previous posters. Dog Days of Summer is that last summer hurrah - the grass is still green, the sun is still beating on you, but you can smell the chill in the air and you know things are going to change real soon. Oddly enough, it kinda reminds me to Don Henley's "Boys of Summer". I think there must be some coconut lurking in there somewhere, because I tend to amp up coconut in a blend, and there's just the faintest trace of it, it smells more like the coconut husk but it makes you think of the very last hint of suntan oil on your skin. I get green grass, mild spring flowers and the tinge of coconut, which sweetens the blend for me and at the same time makes it all that much more nostalgic. This is you heading back from the beach, grabbing that sweatshirt because the nights are slightly colder than before, and you can just feel summer slip away from you.

Yes, very much like Vick's VapoRub... but so much better. I've been fighting catching the 'office cold' that is going around, and this was a huge perker upper as I'm sitting in my cubicle. I wasn't sure I'd keep my decant, but I think I will. Cuz I really wanna try it when I'm sick! Very pleased with the Panaceas, esp those geared toward healing/feeling better. ETA: Feb 2009 Sick. With cold. First, I uncorked Oof and let it blast my sinuses. Then I dabbed a little on my upper lip. This stuff works. I think I have the barest sense of smell back...

Potent is a good way to describe this blend. It's very red musk, sandalwood and resinous leather. At the beginning, I got a faint dusting of citrus over it. But now it's a sexy swashbuckling female pirate. The kind that takes no prisoners. YARRR!
