I thought I was going to love this one, and I did. It's going on my BTBB list (Buy The Big Bottle). I love greens and it's very green, in the manner of Vent Vert, Ivoire, Chanel 19. Beautiful.

I could do a whole bottle of this one. It dries down to a whisper of pink tea roses over a beautiful woodsy base, and comes off warm, womanly and elegant. I would wear it to work. It is beautifully composed.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
Fulltiltredhead replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
There are a couple of things you can try: wear it on less sensitive parts of your body, i.e., the tops of your arms instead of on the insides and on the back of your neck rather than on your throat put lotion or oil on your skin first, then the oils or just dilute them in unscented lotion or carrier oil and spread them over more surface area. Hope this helps! -
Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

I say Snake Oil. -
I had to swap for this little vial, it was not included with my orders, but that's probably because I've not ordered anything like it. I had to put a lot on to get a decent whiff. I get a flash of a top note of warm yellow cake right out of the oven, woodsmoke, a drop of honey, and SAFFRON, which reminds me of southern Spain. If it were a month, it would be October. I don't know what to think of it. I do not get "sweet" from it. On me, it tends to go more toward men's cologne, reminding me of Opium, which smelled precisely like Old Spice on me. This is not me, but I wish it were. I'm not quite sure I can carry it off. However, I think this will morph in a big way and I'll be interested to see what happens to it overnight. Maybe I'll wake up to "baby" smell, but right now I can't imagine it. It is original, exotic, and enigmatic. ETA: Snake Oil is compelling. I decided it was NOT me, and traded it away, only to find that I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I gave in to it, and finagled myself some more. THIS time, it "took." I'm enjoying it very much - and - I almost fell off my chair - the female attorney I work for asked me what I was wearing - I told her, and asked if she liked it, and she said "Yes, I do, actually. I like that one a lot." MIRACLE. She's smelled everything I own and never given me a compliment before. This is truly high praise.

Love a Victoria's Secret fragrance? Looking for a BPAL cousin to it?
Fulltiltredhead replied to foundmyhappyplace's topic in Recommendations
O is lighter and purer, more simple, and it smells like warm honey rather than vanilla, at least on my skin. It's still very warm and quite sweet, like Amber Romance, but not nearly as heavy. You said you "learned to luv" Amber Romance -- did you have problems wearing it at first? I did. I smelled it on someone else and went straight out and bought the entire line without trying it on first, only to find that it suffocates and overwhelms me. I get a strong alcohol-like, hair spray like smell in Amber Romance for the first hour or so that is not present in O. I still wear Amber Romance sometimes because I know how good it smells to other people, though. I put O behind my ears, down my neck, in my cleavage, on my low abdomen, behind my knees, on the arch of my foot, and in my hair- and I still want more on. Sorry, rambling impressions, hope this helped. -
The Best Scents for Home, a Room, the Car...

I've been using Malediction, which is heavy, but with a few drops of sweet orange oil added. To me, it's perfect. Gender neutral and full of character, not "too" anything for my nose. -
Just smelling from the vial, it's pure nasty funk. It almost immediately turns into something sexy on, tho. Donna Karen's Black Cashmere is the closest OTC scent I can compare it to. Which I wouldn't wear, because it's too strongly cedar. But this hits the woodsy/spicey thing just right for me. Perfect for fall/winter, and I would love it extremely as a room fragrance. I'm really surprised at how much I like it. It fades fast on me but it's worth refreshing. This would be incredibly good on a guy, too. I may have to get the big bottle.

It smells like lemon Mr. Clean to me. All I can think about is washing floors.

I recommend Old Paris. I wear it to work every day at a law firm. It's fresh and clean but sophisticated and it calms me, helps me focus.

Black Rose is rosier than Spellbound.

I was so excited about this one and certain I would like it. Well, I don't. Not even a little bit. Isn't that a shame?

A month to finish an IMP?! I really must be overapplying. I did an imp of Harlot in three days. Was she wearing it every day?

Site update in progress. Good & bad news.

Oh hell yeah. Far as I'm concerned, that was ALL good news. Rock on, Beth! -
"It reminds me of my childhood, I’m not sure why. There’s something intriguing underneath this floral though, like a slinky pink slip underneath the utterly feminine and innocent cotton white sundress. " There's something candylike about this - it reminds me somehow of lollipops, the kind the doctor would give you. I didn't like it at all at first, but I've had it on maybe 2 hours now and I'm liking it more and more. I do see the laundry soap association. I won't be buying the big bottle, but I'll enjoy this imp.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
Fulltiltredhead replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
Don't forget Eve and Harlot! -
Well, I love this and I'll always have it, for sentimental reasons if nothing else - cherry blossom time is when I met my sweetie - and this smells exactly like cherry blossoms. It does smell soapy, a little green, flowery, and it fades fast. But it's quite beautiful and I don't mind reapplying. Ephemeral, lovely, delicate.

I received Maiden as a gift with the Ophelia I ordered for a friend. "Suddenly, this becomes a bright, fresh, sparkling mossy rose with carnations, and it's absolutely stunning." I have not so flattering associations with the word "Maiden" -- I tend to think "insipid" or "prissy." But this is not by any means insipid, and I don't find it prissy or demure, either - it's very warmly feminine, frankly beautiful - just not overtly sexual. I think it would be perfect to wear on your wedding day. Or any day that you're wearing a beautiful dress. I love carnations, especially white ones - so very full and unabashedly frilly, with their ruffly, scalloped petals and their amazing, enduring scent, and this blend makes a bouquet that sets off the carnations to perfection - the tea and the roses keep the carnation from being too clovey to wear. This is just brilliant, and it makes me stupid happy. One caveat - be sure to wash your hands after you put it on. I put mine on and then in a minute rubbed my eyes. owwwie, burned my eyelids some (probably true of most of the oils) It's not burning at all on my wrists tho. Feels and smells great on, and this one stays true on me from wet to dry down. Definitely going for the big bottle. I think it would be good in any season, and for any time I need a pick me up. If Potion smells anything like this, LUSH has lost their minds to discontinue it, that's all I can say.

Woo hoo! Got my order today, which was placed (I'm almost positive) 3/16.
-
What she said. This is beautiful for spring.
-
Good, so Lizzie, either Freesia or Orange Blossom -- or both, maybe you could layer them?
-
Who'd a thunk it? It smells exactly like Oreo cookies!
-
It fades fast on me, but this one is lovely.
-
Hey, Lizzie, I used to love that one too. I couldn't find much about it but this: Dream is a mix of white freesia, orange flower, and pure cloud. well ... hm ... dunno about the pure cloud ... but Beth has a Freesia single note. According to my Search results, it's not used in any blends, but what's not to like about freesia? Orange flower=orange blossom=neroli - out of 16 perfumes with neroli, my bet would be Naiad, Phantasm, or Zephyr - based on reading the descriptions, haven't tried the scents. Good luck, let us know what you find!
