YES. I had a bottle of Smut from 2007, I think, that I did end up swapping away because it's just not my kind of scent, but as it ages it is just DIVINE.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
sarajane replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
I would definitely recommend Dana O'Shee. However, it could be the "bitter almond" note you're reacting to. A lot of people react to cinnamon, but I don't and it happens to be one of my favorite notes. Eclipse is the only BPAL that I've ever reacted to, and I'm fairly positive that it's the bitter almond note that does it - I don't have a problem with regular almond, just bitter. -
I have no idea how old your bottle is, but I know that there was a Jack reformulation at some point in time... let me see if I can find it. ETA: found references to a reformulation - announcement that Jack is backordered and Beth's thread about Jack II and some more talk about Jack II.

All of my 10mLs are cobalts, but I have seen ambers pop up on sales page here and there.

Rotting banana peel with loam. Fantastically realistic, but not something I want to want to smell like!
-
Straight to soap on me. An expensive, gorgeous-smelling soap, but soap nonetheless.
-
Mmmm, I don't get an papyrus or aloe out of this at all. It's all musky vanilla sandalwoody goodness on my skin. It's not cologney or soapy on me, unlike some other reviews. This is one of my favorite blends.
-
I agree with earlier reviews stating that this smells like a Lush store. It's an pretty scent that doesn't morph too much on my skin, but ultimately not for me.
-
I didn't get any rose or lily out of these, sadly. Just an overwhelming, soapy light rose on my skin. Gorgeous in the bottle, though.
-
This went straight to an acrid, ammonia-ish scent with soapy undertones on my skin. Shame, because it is so beautiful in the decant.

Chocolate and Cocoa, in every combination possible

I saw this thread and thought, did someone rename the Gelt review thread? But yes, joining the crowd, Gelt is probably what you're looking for. -
All already mentioned, but I'll second, Sudha Segara, Dreadful Lies, and Hod.

Anise, Aniseed, Licorice, Liquorice, Fennel, Ouzo?

One of my all time favorite blends. Deathly Pride is wonderful as well. -
The apple note in SGA lasts for a very, very long time. Although it's more of a spiced apple, the apple in Fearful Pleasure is also very long-lasting.

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?

Shanghai is lovely in the summer. -
Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
sarajane replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
The Rose is a very pure rose scent, similar to Rose Red. I picked up a lot of sandalwood and bergamot in Snooty Rose, as it's not just straight rose. -
When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

Keep in mind that my skin chemistry is very, very odd. On me, Oisin with a little bit of Hod (the older the better) is a fairly close match to Unseelie. -
DEFINATELY try Wanda, even if you think the notes may not work on you (neither rose or violet really work on me, but Wanda is somehow perfection). It's gorgeous and I think it has the feel you're looking for.

The tangerine in this goes on harsh at the beginning, but after ten or so minutes it becomes a soft and warm scent vaguely reminiscent of Sudha Segara. I'm glad I stuck through until the drydown because this is absolutely beautiful. I get almost all cream, benzoin, and tonka. There's very little tangerine or pear.

On me, this scent lasts AGES. This is good, because I want my one bottle to last forever. It's the most gorgeous vanilla with heaps of rum. The sandalwood and saffron are there, but they serve to mostly ground the blend. Mmmm. This is foody, but not TOO foody. The Beaver Moons, Gluttony, and other heavy foodies like that were too strong on me, but this blend is absolutely perfect. So good.

Upon the initial application, all I can smell is APPLES. Which is perfect since I love apples. It's one of my favorite notes. I do detect a hint of the amber someone mentioned above. I also get some kind of floral. I don't think it's white rose, since white rose is a rose that works with my skin chemistry, while the flower in here is not really working with my skin chemistry. At all. Sigh. I really liked this one before my meanie skin chemistry ruined it. ETA: Okay, LIES. The flower dries down after about two hours, and the drydown is to. die. for. Smells amazing and has TONS of throw.

Oh hey vetiver. It's nice to see you again.. kind of. You know, I really would like you, in all your smoky goodness IF YOU MAYBE LET SOMEONE ELSE COME OUT AND PLAY FOR FIVE SECONDS. I thought this "Haitian vetiver", a cousin of VETIVER!, might be kind of a pal and calm down, but no. VETIVER! ruins my life again. I LOVED this blend until I put it on my skin. Good thing I have a scent locket.

The apple in this makes it a BEAUTIFUL blend.... for about 2 minutes. Then it burns down to pure dragon's blood with a hint of hyacinth on me. It's still pretty, but not the OMGZ-MUST-HAVE it was for those two wonderful minutes.
