    Night's Bridge

This smells to me like an aquatic cologne. I can see how the aquatic note could be evocative of night air. It seems like it might be quite nice on the right fellow.

    The Curator

I was surprised to find that this is much prettier and gentler than one might expect from the label art and note description. It is a masculine-ish spicy melange on a creamy base. It's definitely not overly masculine, though - anyone who likes it could pull it off. It reminds me much of Mr. Jacquel. I did not find that it had much throw and it faded fairly quickly.

    Panther Moon

This smells exactly like Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa incense on me. I really like Nag champa so that's a good thing. My husband is apparently fond of straight-up hippie scents, and says this is his favorite of all of my BPAL perfumes. It has good staying power and moderate throw. Like everyone else, I agree that just a bit goes a long way.

    Skytyping with Chemtrails

I really like this. It smells like very sweet lemon over a woody base. It smells like soft sandalwood to me, but that's not one of the notes listed. Nice stuff.

Beanman & Beanwoman Prepare to Attack the Vagina

I waited a few weeks before trying this, mainly because when I smelled it from the bottle, it seemed nice, but it seemed so light that I figured it would disappear almost immediately. I was definitely wrong! I can still smell a bit of this on my wrists 14 hours after application. It has fantastic staying power, but it settles pretty close to the skin after an hour or two. On me, this is a deliciously creamy orange blossom and coconut scent with hints of skin musk. I can't really pin down what skin musk actually smells like, but I get the same feel for that particular note that I get in Bengal - it's almost like a note that just makes everything else smell better. Wow, how's that for an unhelpful description? I like it very much and I'll definitely be keeping this.

Autumn Moon of the Mirror Stand

This smells wonderfully fruity in the bottle and applied lightly. To me, it smells like brown sugar and quince. When I apply more generously, it takes on an unfortunate Yankee Hill candle vibe. Will have to try this a few more times before making a final decision.

    Signior Dildo

This smells absolutely amazing in the bottle, like a really clean vanilla floral without any headachiness to it. When I put it on, the florals stay well-behaved, but instead of vanilla, it turns into this weird watery-ozone-y note of death that I think of as the lab's "slush" note and that I get from the snow maiden. I'm going to give this a week or so to see if it settles down, but if not, it's going in the swap pile.

    Marcilla

In the bottle, this smells very pretty, a well-blended fruity-flower mix. Wet, on me: sweet tarts Dry, on me: dryer sheets

    Needlework

In the bottle, this is awesome - sweet flowers (predominantly lilac) held in check by the more herbal lavender and ginger. When I put this on my skin, it starts off pretty well balanced in the wet phase, but then the lilac takes over, beating all other notes into submission, and demanding that they pay obeisance to the awesome power of the almighty lilac. I never smelled anything like tea. I In the lilac phase, it's still very, very sweet, much sweeter than I'd expect from just a flower. I actually like how it smells, but it's incredibly strong and gave me a headache. I am going to keep this, but on me at least, it's powerful stuff and should be used very lightly.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

I don't know a lot about perfumery, but I doubt that the oils could be all natural - it simply isn't possible to capture all of the fragrances used in perfumes from nature - for example, you can't extract essential oils from fruits like apples and peaches. So certain of the components must be "synthetic," that is synthesized from other materials. However, synthetic in this sense doesn't necessarily mean that the materials used to create the accords aren't natural. I don't really care one way or another if I like how it smells and it doesn't irritate my skin.

    Blue Moon 2009: Elizabeth's Creation

I love, love the label for this. I'd say it's well-blended because I can't discern any individual notes, but I don't have a fantastic nose, either. Wet, it strikes me as a sharp and unusual perfume scent. It smells like "perfume" to me because I can't differentiate the notes, but not like any perfume I've ever smelled before. Like the previous reviewer, it goes a little soapy on me on dry-down, but not terribly soapy. I'll let it age a while and see what happens.

    Pickled Imp

    Cin-illa yum! Instant top 10.

    Peach Moon

It may be chemistry, but on me this smells like the peach version of Alice. It smells like peaches and the milky/creamy note in Alice. There is a creaminess that smells like the creaminess of heavy face cream or body butter. And while I'm not a huge fan of the cream note in Alice, I do like Peach Moon. It's pretty and sweet. On me, this is a close to the skin scent, and lasts about 2-3 hours before fading completely. I think you'd like this if you like peaches and Alice.

    Rapunzel

Angel's trumpet, bois de rose, orris, and wild lettuce. I was surprised after I put this on that it didn't have "tears" or some other watery note. I suppose it is the lettuce I am smelling. On me, Rapunzel is a watery green scent. It's light and fresh, and reminds me quite a bit of Ded Moroz and When the Winter Chrysanthemums Go, but warm and springy, rather than cool and wintery. Unfortunately, I don't like the watery note, but if you like aquatic scents, this could be for you!

    Ode on Melancholy

Oh! I'm melancholy because I smell like an old lady. This just smells like "perfume" - I believe it is the wisteria overwhelming all of the other notes. Very sweet and a bit musty.
  16. Thanks for the scholarly replies! I will definitely try Snow Flakes and Macabray. I have been wanting to try Bliss for some time anyway, so we'll see how it layers with SW. Oh, and Sunshinedaisybliss, thank you for enabling me!
  17. I love Candy Butcher, which I did not discover until long after it had gone out of stock. Fortunately, I found that Snow White has a note that appears to be in common. I've seen speculation that it is a lily musk or vanilla musk, or perhaps some cream note that they have in common. If you know the note I mean, please, please, point me in the direction of other perfumes that share this note! It is my holy grail of scents. Thanks!

    Snow White

As the 566th reviewer, I have little to add that hasn't been said already. I almost didn't buy Snow White because of the many reviews comparing it to Dana O'Shee, which did not work for me at all. However, many reviews also compared it to the Candy Butcher, which I love. There is definitely a note in common with Candy Butcher, and I love this note and amp it like crazy. I don't know what the note is, but I think several folks have speculated that it is a lily musk or a vanilla musk. (If anyone knows what it is, please pm me - I need to get everything that has this note!) I think it is a floral component of the heavy cream note in Candy Butcher. Gah, I love this stuff and I'm so thrilled to find the note that I love so much in Candy Butcher. Hoarding will commence. I am so happy I bought this - it's magnificent.

    Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo

This smells like effervescent grapefruit bubblegum. It is a very pleasant, sweet, and yes - happy - scent. I will probably try to get a bottle when the massive update season passes a bit.

    Liz

This is really feminine and pretty. It's a little floral, but not overpowering. It's sweet, but not too sweet. The leather note is a true leather, stronger at first and fading into the sweet floral vanilla. For some reason, this smells a lot like Black Butterfly Moon to me, with a little leather mixed in. I will probably try to finagle a bottle of this in between the Yules, Phoenixes, Resurrected scents and next act of Carnival Diabolique. My head is going to explode.

    OMG PEPPERMINT! That is all.

    Midnight Mass

2009 Version This is a beautiful, light, sacred incense. I smell frankincense and myrrh, with the lab's beautiful sandalwood underneath (at least I think I do). There is something very fresh and green smelling (maybe some sort of evergreen) when I first apply it wet. It seems very, very light to me, without much throw or staying power.

    Mother Shub's Pfancy Pfefferneusse

To me, this smells like Shub Niggurath with buttery pastry. It's lighter and has more of a bakery feeling than Shub, though. Very warm and spicy, and comforting despite the "evil." The label art is awesome as well.

    The Candy Butcher 2006

I really wish I had discovered this scent before it sold out. I got an imp of this recently, and it is amazing! To me, it is deep, dark chocolate, but it has this really rich, fruity or floral background that reminds me that chocolate comes from a plant. I used to live in West Africa, and I'd see cocoa pods lying out to dry in the sun. Candy Butcher reminds me of a big, fruity, fresh cocoa pod. I love it.

    Nero

This is all pine and lemon on me. I love evergreen scents, and as this dries, it becomes fuller and sweeter, developing the sort of fruity (almost apple-like) fullness that I've noticed with BPAL's evergreen scents (both pine and fir). The pine and lemon are almost a bit Christmas-y on me, which I don't mind at all. Sorry, Nero, you're just not as intimidating as you think you are.
