    Flower Moon 2017

This reminds me of A Pale and Glimmering Light from last year's halloweenies, and I think it's because this is mainly oleander on me. So it's rather sharp at first, but mellows out after a while. There is a berry-like sweetness to it and something almost citrusy, but I do think that's just the oleander too. I am not getting much wisteria, which is good, because that rarely works on me. I got a compliment on this today, so I think it works well on me. But it's also a decidedly unique kind of scent, so it's not for everybody, I imagine. But if you like oleander, or you're curious about smelling like a poisonous garden, you should give this a try

The Drum Bridge and Yuhi Hill at Meguro

The wet stage is a little soapy on me, but I hope a little aging will take away some of the soapiness. The drydown, however, is lovely; like snow-covered (kind o minty, slushy snow, similar to Almond Blossom) flowers. It was pretty much what I wanted it to be! I think the tea lends some of that freshness that I interpret as snowy. Also, the cypress is present, but not sharp or overwhelming in any way. A lovely unorthodox Yuletide blend

    Lilac!

The new Luper Cave of Treasures is sweetened lilac on me

    Cave of Treasures

I'm a sucker for lilac scents, but I was worried the cream might make this one too heavy and foody on me. It didn't! There is a creaminess here, but it is mostly a light, airy lilac, not too much honey either, and a drop of light spice from the cardamom. I really like this, but it is faint on my skin. It would be great to wear in everyday settings, though, as it isn't in-your-face in any way, and a lot of people would find this pleasant

    Pleasures of the Imagination IV

This is mainly white tea on me, with a hint of jasmine. I am not getting much leather, except perhaps an edge in the background, but it's hard to say if it's really leather or an edge from the sharp jasmine blossom. There is something in this that smells vaguely like bergamot as well, but it could be something in the tea note, perhaps? This actually makes me think of a floral version of Severin - the leather in that is also very light on me, and they both share the bergamot-like tea note. Overall, like sipping a cup of slightly citrusy white tea next to a blooming jasmine. You might be wearing leather boots, but they are clean and polished and very unobtrusive, because you can hardly smell them here.

Kitten with Shamisen Daydreams of a Phallus Palanquin

I love The Perilous Parlor, so I was curious how close this would be to it. Instead of the sweet vanilla, we get rice milk that isn't cloying at all, but actually feels rather fresh and not entirely unlike vanilla. If there is a musk in there, it is very subdued on me. The pear is sweet, but very subtle, as is the entire blend. I feel like I am all set as far as pear scents go, but I really like this, and it feels calming and sweet. Overall, I feel like this is an Asian Perilous Parlor

La Prostitution et la Folie Dominent le Monde

Hahaha, I couldn't have said it better than the review above This is ultra-sweet jasmine sugar, and upon drydown a bit of the anise comes forth and gives the blend a bit of an edge, which is nice, because it is veering on a little too frilly. BUT, that said, I love all things cute and frilly, so of course I also love this one. I can't imagine wearing it in an everyday setting, but probably when I wanted to feel uplifted and happy, or wear a really cute dress. I am not a jasmine hater at all, so maybe for those who don't like jasmine, this won't work too well. But for jasmine lovers, this is perfect!

    Delightful Visitor Among the Haystacks

At first this is a very strong incense, but it fades super quickly on me, and the whole blend becomes almost invisible - or unsniffable, or whatever you would call it I am getting a wee bit of carnation, but that is pretty much it. That makes me sad, since I would have loved a spicy chrysanthemum incense!

    Die Begierde

This is very boozy on me, so I'm definitely getting the cognac! The background is all sugared flowers and candy, with a distinct rosewater note as well. This is more foody than I would have expected, but not in a too cloying way. Maybe a *little* bit too sweet, perhaps, because it feels like the booziness really amps the sugariness in this. Overall, it's a fun and festive springtime scent that would work well for a quirky tea party (with spiked tea, of course!) around a table covered with mountains of rosewater macaroons and sugar pastries.

    Pleasures of the Imagination I

SUPER strong leather in this! I am getting the resins as well, but to be honest, the leather really stomps all over everything on my skin. If you are a leather fiend, be sure to check this out. It is a bit too much for me, though

    A Dusty Moth

Ambergris and orris on me, with a floral aspect verging on soapy I wish I got this amazing dusty tea that everyone talks about, but sadly it appears this isn't working too well on my skin.

    Like the Flashing of Light

This is mainly sweet mandarin with a hint of spice on me, with something that almost reminds me of ginger, although the note isn't listed. Luckily the honey stays put in this blend and doesn't amp on me! It feels festive and happy, and I can imagine a lot of people would like this

    Winter: My Secret

Labdanum can sometimes go sour on me, and that has sadly happened here as well. I am definitely getting the myrrh and vanilla sweetness as well, but the labdanum makes it a not-too-pleasant scent on my skin

    This World's Joy

This is mainly a floral scent on me, but not in a soapy way at all. The violet is quite prominent without being bitter, and the frankincense is in the background. It's a simple and pretty scent that sadly has very light throw on me. So slathering is necessary

    Desert Places

I was expecting a dry scent based on the sandalwood and "dry" vanilla in the description, but this is a delightfully fresh white tea scent that is just grounded enough by the sandalwood to not disappear entirely. I am not getting much of the orris, if you are worried about that. This makes me think of The Unsteady Governess, although this one may be a bit sweeter.

    L’Hyver

I agree with the previous mentions of a licorice-like note, without it being licorice per se. The cypress is also fairly strong on me, and the tea is delightful and life-like. I am not sure what elemi smells like, so I can't comment on that, but the labdanum is surprisingly subdued on me, which is nice. Overall it makes me think of licorice tea, which I wasn't expecting at all, but quite enjoy. The throw is medium on me.

    Winter Landscape with Church

This is heavy on the frankincense and myrrh, with a little bit of rose in the background. So if you're afraid that it turns too floral, you needn't be. I am also getting a teensy touch of something fresh, which is likely the winter woods mentioned in the description. It feels very peaceful and comforting, and if you like resin blends, you will likely love this too!

    It Sifts from Leaden Sieves

Super, super dry and slightly coconutty! This somehow reminds me of Tombstone, but that might be the overall dry quality. It is rather comforting the more I wear it, so if you want something warm and cosy for winter, this would be perfect! The throw is pretty good, too.

Très Riches Heures du duc de Berry

This is like a slushy snow single note, but with a touch of sweetness. I am not too familiar with blue musk, so it might be the musk that has a sweetness to it? It is super pretty and I can see myself wearing it when I want to feel like a snow queen The throw is medium.

    Road to Versailles at Louveciennes

I'm not entirely sure how to describe this at all. It seems like the frankincense is quite strong on me, with some warmth, probably from all the herbal components, and a little sweetness that must be the vanilla. It doesn't remind me of anything I have smelled before, so it's definitely unique! I quite like it, too, but I doubt I would wear it very often. The throw is fairly strong, too.

    Night Snow at Kambara

This is sadly soap terriroty for me as well! I was hoping for a cherry blossom dominant scent, but it seems to be mostly the soapy lily and some wisteria, with very little cherry blossom to speak of. What a shame; I love the concept!
  22. Aviatrix

    Pediophobia

This is a big vanilla with something dark around the edges. But definitely mainly vanilla. It doesn't get overwhelmingly sweet on me, and I can see this being a favorite with a lot of people. I was curious about the porcelain note, but I'm not getting much besides a kind of dark, non-foody vanilla. The throw is medium on me.

    Four Seasons: Winter

Strong resinous apricot on me! There is a teensy bit of lavender in the background, but it's mostly a fruity-resinous scent. It is elegant and cute in some way, and I can see myself wearing it for a tea party. It's definitely one of my favorites from this round of Yules, and if you like apricot, be sure to check this out!

    The Magpie

I think I'm getting a bit of the sandalwood in this, but mainly it seems like.....snowy peppermint! O_o It's incredibly strong and has a very candy-ish quality to it. It's a bit too much for me, sadly.

    Jólabókaflóð

This starts off as almost a chocolate single note on me, but quickly the leather comes out, and it's a very heavy and dark leather! It has that slightly dusty/musty (but in a good way) quality that I associate with old books, but definitely with emphasis on the leather bindings. The overall effect is a dark and antique leather type of scent with a little hint of foodiness. Also, there seems to be a kind of marzipan note in it too, although it isn't listed? I quite like it, although I'm not sure how much I'll wear it. It would be lovely in an oil burner, though! The throw is pretty strong on me, and it stays for several hours. ETA The book that came with it was Battlestar Galactica which looks quite fun!
