this one goes through several stages on my skin. it opens with a powdery, incensy rose and orris, then gets less powdery and more tobacco heavy with a sense of brightness. then somewhere in the middle, the rose turns quite sour, and stays that way for awhile (this is the worst stage for me but thankfully doesn't last long.) eventually i get more smoke and oud and that sourness burns off. i am left with a smoky, clovey rose with hints of something sort of sparkling for lack of a better word. i think the 'diamonds' are here and i think i get the 'pearls' from the buttery orris. this is a really interesting rose that has a vintage feel and gets more beautiful over time.

this is fruitier than i anticipated. before i looked at the notes again, i thought it was a sweet red musk and some kind of purple or red fruits, which i guess isn't too far off. i think i am mostly getting the rose wine, ume blossom and scarlet musk. i get some floral notes but it's primarily sweet red musk and wine. very pretty.

this opens with fresh, dewy lilacs, and i get a hint of the oakmoss adding a slightly woody backdrop. i get some orris and a bit of smokiness. for awhile, it's practically a lilac soliflore on my skin, until after awhile the vanilla blooms, adding some creaminess. very pretty!

i get a lot of tea and something sort of oddly smoky and almost savory. maybe a combination of hay and frankincense smoke (?) or the rice milk is reading more like rice itself. my skin chemistry can do some weird stuff at times and that seems to be the case here. after awhile, that aspect dissipates a bit and i am getting more of a honeyed tea with champaca. it becomes a lot more floral over time, but it's not very sweet. i don't get much heliotrope here until way later. there is a clarity from the tea and it primarily becomes a pretty tea scent with a hint of smokiness, then gets creamier from heliotrope deep into the drydown and by that time it's almost gone.

for me this opens with the cherry blossom chypre and rice powder. it's dry and somewhat powdery, not sweet. i get beeswax and amber later, warming things up a bit. after awhile the cherry blossom gets a bit sweeter and more prominent, and it is still the strongest note for me. it kind of vacillates between being more powdery and going a bit more floral. i do not get beeswax as strongly as some other people. on me, it's more of a subtle background note. i can struggle with cherry blossom sometimes, but this one is great for me. really pretty for spring,

this opens with rice milk, cardamom and almond. it's very pretty and creamy. after awhile i get the other notes but they are very subtle at first. after being on the skin awhile, the jasmine blooms a lot more and becomes more dominant. it's not an indolic jasmine, but leans a tiny bit soapy. the jasmine (and perfume as a whole) gets better and better the longer it's on skin. this one is very pretty!

this opens creamy yet effervescent. i think i am getting sandalwood, chamomile, ti leaf and honey. it's like a tea with honey and hints of something that sort of reminds me of root beer? then i get vanilla and musk which softens the more effervescent notes a bit. after being on the skin a bit more the chamomile and honey really get strong. i really want to like this one-elements of it are so nice, like the vanilla, it's so pretty in this! but i think the ti leaf and chamomile get amped up on me and are too intense.

i was dying to try this one for years and i finally snagged a bottle of the lab's etsy recently. it opens with cherry blossom, violet and almond. it's sweet and a little powdery with that slight nuttiness from almonds. the violet and wisteria in here is quite dewy and lends a slightly watery feel to the scent. a lovely spring floral with a bit of sweetness.
-
the red musk in this is strong on me and by far the most dominant note. i also sense honey, ambrette, patchouli, tonka and maybe some oakmoss. after a few minutes on the skin, the honey gains strength and there is more sweetness. this is different than other red musk blends i have. it's more earthy i think. something about this perfume is very intriguing and a bit wild, like an animal, even a domesticated one. i thought that i didn't like it at first but i do, i don't have anything quite like it. i think it'd be perfect for fall as others have mentioned.

this opens with rosewood and tea and a hint of labdanum. it's kind of herbal and woody with an underlying creamy thing going on, but not in the usual way. hard to describe. the labdanum adds a sort of effervescent quality here. it strongly reminds me of something i cannot place. later on i sense a bit of the beeswax and musk which helps round it out, however the rosewood is very strong and overwhelms the perfume. i think i'd prefer less rosewood or maybe my skin amps rosewood, i am unsure.

notes i like: oakmoss, violet, tea, tonka, leather, skin musk, red musk, black musk, neroli, amber, tobacco, carnation, orange blossom/neroli, orchid, incense, smoke, clove, benzoin, opoponax, green tea, lime, stephanotis, chrysanthemum, saffron, iris/orris root, tuberose, honey, ylang ylang, heliotrope, iris, myrrh, vanilla, rose, lily, almond, jasmine, lilac, wisteria, daffodil/jonquil/narcissus, ambergris notes that sometimes work: wine, cherry, coconut, berries, sage, patchouli, sandalwood, bergamot, lotus, orange, lemon, cinnamon, lavender, vetiver, honey/beeswax, woods, champaca, ginger, nectarine, fig, pine (not very often), mint, sugar, grapefruit, white musk, honeysuckle, teak, coffee, caramel, oudh: bpal's black oudh doesn't seem to like me but the white and red varieties do; dirt, moss, chocolate, anise, marshmallow, poppy/opium, cocoa, vetiver notes i dislike: cedar, frankincense (bpal's turns to pencil shavings on me, same for cedar, unless very subtle), peach, strawberry, plum, cake, milk, cassia, apple, rum, ozones/aquatics, dragon's blood, currant, eucalyptus, banana, blue musk, pomegranate, peony, sweet pea, pear, pumpkin

this opens very softly, i think i am getting almond blossom primarily, with a touch of soft jasmine. the sandalwood blooms next, adding a soft woodiness. later i get some vanilla, sweetening things up a bit. overall, this is a soft ethereal somewhat creamy floral. very pretty and perfect for spring.

this opens with an herbal/realistic lavender, orris and vanilla. i get a hint of rootiness from the orris. in the beginning it isn't too sweet. it's herbal and comforting like a lavender sachet. a bit later, i get something mildly foody, like shortbread, it smells like these lavender shortbread cookies i used to get at miette patisserie in san francisco...(if you know what i am talking about, they are amazing.) later, that element seems to dissipate and it's mostly lavender/vanilla and a hint of the other notes now which add some non-vanillic sweetness. it is quite soothing, and compared to TKO, it's less sweet and a bit more complex. and maybe this lavender is heavier, or it's a more herbal lavender? i am unsure. but it's a bit different than TKO, most likely due to the orris which is earthy. later i get a white chocolate note that another reviewer mentioned, but it takes awhile for that to come out. this one is so pretty and comforting at the same time.

i agree with the above reviewer that at first, this is reminiscent of faith, though i did not test them side by side. i get iris, violets and sugar. however, after being on skin awhile, it changes and isn't much like faith anymore. faith is softer and more subtle. this one gets quite strong and has an iris-y 'lipstick'/raspberry sort of note that often happens with iris/orris. the raspberryish thing really amps up over time, at least on me. pretty and springlike, for sure.

it's been a long time since i've tried regular perversion, but if memory serves, this is sweeter and less leathery. i get the rum, chardonnay and carmelized tonka mostly. it's mildly almost fruity. later on i get a hint of spice. later on i get more musk/tobacco, and it becomes more 'perfumey.' i get no leather at all here. it's nice, but i think i prefer the regular perversion more, because i like the leather.

this starts with hairspray and incense (i guess?) it kind of smells like mothballs, but not in a jasmine way. then it gets very bitter and sharp, i am guessing from the hairspray? finally that dies down and it's mostly clove, incense and a less intense hairspray note. i get a hint of the plum, but not much. mostly incense + hairspray after the drydown. a solid like for me.

at the start i get the white chocolate which is reading as a bit nutty. i think i get a hint of green tea which comes off as slightly astringent. later on i think i am getting green tea and amber as well, and there is a hint of something plasticky. it's kind of odd, and not overly foody. the plasticky note gets amped up on me after awhile and it's chocolate, plastic and a hint of green tea. while interesting to a degree, is not wearable for me.
-
i definitely get a note that i believe is the silk note at first. it's floral, maybe orchid? with a hint of something sort of like detergent or dryer sheets. almost aquatic. i get the other notes after a few minutes, and it becomes a bit less fresh and light. i think it's what some might think of as 'perfumey', and i realized it smells a lot like fendi furiosa. i don't seem to get much fur here that i can detect. at first i wasn't sure about this, but the longer i wear it, the more i am intrigued!

this opens with an herbal lavender shortly followed by some hay and ambrette, warming things up a bit. the leather comes out later. lavender/leather are then the most prominent notes. the leather here is definitely a soft brown leather. a cozy, soft comforting scent. the hay also starts to dominate along with the other notes deeper into the drydown, cozying things up even more.

at first sniff i am thinking of western diamondback mixed with snake oil-there is a lot of brown leather (it's been a long time since i've tried either though.) i i also get something nutty at the beginning. the vegetal musks amp up a minute later and add a hint of freshness. some sweetness comes in later on from vanilla and it gets muskier. dries down to musky leather vanilla. a very nice snake oil variant, one of the better for me in terms of skin chemistry.

plum turns plasticky on me, so i was hoping it was subtle to nonexistent in this. at the beginning it is-i mostly get parma violets and opoponax i believe. then it's followed by a subtle plum, along with something mildly animalic. dries down to plum, indigo opium and that animalic note. a dusky plum scent. nice, but not an absolute favorite either.

i get a smokiness and sweetness. the sweetness doesn't necessarily read as apple, but it's nice. i agree that it has a hickory sort of thing going on like the reviewer above. it's a little sweeter than i thought it'd be, but not too sweet. definitely atmospheric and perfect for the fall season.
-
this opens with champaca orchid, amber, incense and orris. it's incensy with a bit of a sweet floral element. i get more myrrh as time goes on, along with chyrsanthemum. it's smokier later on and less sweet than in the earlier stages. i really like this one, a solidly good incense/floral.
-
this opens with the fabric notes and some creamy milky vanilla, and i get the oakmoss if i inhale deeply. rose comes out more after it's been on the skin longer, but stays fairly subtle. i get a toasted note but it isn't sweet like marshmallow. the creaminess fades and the fabric and oakmoss are the strongest notes on my skin. this leans unisex on me, bordering on traditionally masculine. a like but not a love for me.
