um i can't believe i haven't reviewed this! regan was one of my earliest bpal loves. it's a soft, not too sweet orchid mixed with vanilla which softens it and makes it a bit powdery. the stephanotis adds a nice sweet powderiness as well. i love this scent, it's comforting and beautiful at the same time.

at the outset, there is a strong wood scent. i couldn't place it, but someone here said sandalwood, and i think that's what i am smelling. bpal's sandalwood turns kinda wonky on me at first, but now that it's dry it smells better. it's warm incense with sandalwood and leather. not sure about the paper or tobacco, perhaps they are background notes on my skin. there is something sweet in there, almost floral...maybe that's the tobacco. i like this scent, but i don't think i'd wear it often, and the sandalwood-morphing is too slow for me to really want to wear it.

all i sense from this is jasmine, and probably some other white florals. it's kind of powdery, but i don't think that it's violet i'm sensing. for once, the jasmine doesn't turn sour on me, however, the scent is totally not me at all. i'm glad i got to try it though!

this is a very strong, tropical floral. it's difficult to pick out notes, this just smells very tropical, but i think the moonflower and orchid is most prominent on me, with a touch of ginger in the background. it's nice, but a bit too strong for my tastes.

i figured i was gonna love or hate this one! when vetiver works for me it REALLY works, when it doesn't it REALLY doesn't. at first troll is really strong vetiver, smoke and pine, and that's all i get. however, soon after it dries it blossoms into a beautiful, earthy scent. the musk and clove come through and sweeten the other notes quite a bit. it kind of reminds me of tarot: death from memory, which is another vetiver scent i like, but i'll have to try them side by side to determine differences. fab scent! i am so glad it worked on me

i had high hopes for this, it sounded beautiful...except for the metallic notes, which i was a bit worried about. alas, they are very metallic, in an aquatic-men's-cologne sort of way. i definitely smell musk and maybe tobacco flower, but the metallic notes are overpowering and the musk in this turns musty on my skin. this smells too much like commercial perfume for my tastes, so i will have to swap it.

first off, i have to say that i love violet! i definitely get the violet and other white florals, especially the lilac (i think.) the lavender moss adds a slight herbalness to the background. i'm not getting much musk or mint though. to me this is a violet-moss/white floral. i think i'd like it better with more musk, less white florals. i'll have to swap this one, because there are other violet scents i like much better.

Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener
theseagrows replied to flyingpizza's topic in Doc Constantine's Pharmacopoeia
smells like vanilla and sassafras (root beer)..so maybe like a root beer float? i love this, it's kinda creamy-foody but i can go there with this scent. not sure i'd buy a whole bottle, but on occasion this will be the perfect scent! -
hm, this is an interesting scent. in the vial it smells like flowers, fruits and something a bit nutty. on my skin, the blood orange, pink pepper and florals come through. there is no strong rose or gardenia in this, they are subtle, and really smell like some nondescript white floral to me. i don't get much vanilla, pine or honey. this scent is quite underwheming with my skin chemistry, so i think i will swap it.

i get a very soft lemon verbena from this with a powdery amber in the background. the herbs are subtle...this is a very soft scent, the citrus isn't overpowering at all. the thing is, it's so soft that it fades too quickly on my skin. it's very pretty, i wish it had more throw. i'll probably swap it just because it's so subtle and i have other bpals that smell so similar on me.
-
this stuff is strong in the bottle, so i tried just the tiniest amount on my wrist. it's softer on my wrist actually, and i really think it has geranium like previous reviewers have said. it's very herbal, like tea. i have some pms tea actually, and it kind of smells/tastes almost just like this. later on, anise comes out and combines with the geranium. there is something lemony in the background too. not a very pretty scent, but it does seem to do the trick. it makes me feel more calm and grounded.

it kinda DOES smell like olives...i realize, after reading reviews above. it's green and kind of herbal. it smells strange, i really cannot place what notes are in this! i don't think i like it enough to try it again for its purpose. it smells almost slightly metallic, but not in an ozoney way. very strange scent, i wish i knew which notes were in this!

i'm not sure what this floral scent is. i thought maybe lilac, but i see mentions of ylang-ylang, hmmm. it's a white floral, that's for sure..it does it's weird white floral baby powder icky thing on my skin. i guess this is seductive? i didn't really try to wear it for seduction, i was just curious what it smelled like at first. it's very floral, very white floral...which are my least favorite. i will try it for "seduction", but i doubt it will work. 13 2006 with the orange label or mouse's long and sad tale seem to work better for that (in my case.)

this is a minty-floral tea with a hint of the red currant in the background. i can smell the freesia too. the red currant tends to go plasticky on me, and it's no exception in this scent. luckily, it's subtle so it may be wearable. i'll have to try it once more for my final verdict. eta: a half an hour later, this amped like crazy on me and was Just Too Strong. very perfumy and overwhelming...i'm not sure what did it, but this one is definitely not for me.

this is very shimmery and aquatic. the name really evokes the scent. in the vial, i can smell the grapefruit and mandarin most strongly, however on my skin i believe the pale florals and ozone come out most. there is something in this that turns on me, but i'm not sure what it is. this is just so very very ozone...unfortunately it's giving me a headache :/

i have no idea what notes are in this. it's a sweet musky aquatic floral. the floral reminds me of orchid or something like that, but i don't think it's quite orchid. it's very 'perfumy', and the throw is strong and there is an aquaticness that stands out a lot. the musk is more subtle. this is too aquatic for my tastes, but i am really glad i got to try this!

hm, i am having trouble detecting the notes in this, besides carnation. at the beginning it's pure carnation (which i love, yay!) and some sort of nutty-almond scent. as it dries down, the nuttiness moves back and it smells like carnation and a very light skin musk or white musk + a hint of almond. very soft, pretty and comforting. carnation is one of my absolute favorite notes, and i will add this to my list of good carnation scents.

all i'm getting here is vetiver. i think there is possibly a slightly green sweetness way way in the background, but this is overwhelmingly vetiver. yep.

what a mish-mash this is. i get an aquatic-herbal, some floral and some sugariness in this. it's so complex, i can't decide whether i like it or not. i tend to like sugary florals, so that part is good, but the aquaticness might be a bit too much for me (putrefying wet greenery, i guess?) i dont get much rose from this, but sence the berries way in the background. it's very interesting...i do like it, but i am not sure i would wear it much.

this is definitely a dark purple or black fruit scent, very ripe. this isn't a super-sweet fruit, it's dusky and dark with a bit of greenery. i think it's closest to plum on my skin, hence the reason it's going plasticky, i think. it's one of those scents that turns into a strawberry shortcake doll on me.

got this as a frimp from a wonderful swapper. i'd been wanting to try this for awhile now. the snow note reminds me of talvikuu...i always mention talvikuu, because it's one of the few snow-blends i've tried. this scent is a combination of cold and warm, the warmth coming from the opoponax and myrrh, which add a warm, soft background. i don't get the soil much at all. this is one of the better snowier blends i've tried (which usually aren't my thing.) it's quite nice and i will keep my imp.
-
in the imp this smelled like a slightly sour white floral with rose, so i figured it wouldn't work on me. of course, this is bpal, so i was wrong. it smells beautiful on me. i definitely smell the tea rose and a floral-spiciness in the background which actually reminds me a lot of jean paul gaultier's classique. luckily the lily of the valley stays mellow and doesn't turn sour on me. the violet isn't all that powdery either, it's subtle in the background. very nice, i will keep my imp but probably won't get a bottle.

oh no, i love this. i put it on before bed and it was very comforting and relaxing, yes, but i LOVE the scent which is a creamy lavender-vanilla. i wanna wear it during the day because it just smells so good. i hope it doesn't put me to sleep though...
-
this is a sweet, aquatic floral. it reminds me of something i can't place, of course. it reminds me of white florals somewhat, but doesn't turn bad on my skin as much as those have a tendency to do. it's sort of lily-like, but not exactly. it's light and pretty and perfect for spring.

wow, this is very sexy, indeed! i LOVE it on me, but i want to smell it on a man, asap . it reminds me of other bpal musky-leather scents, all of which i love! the lilac and lemon are more prominent in the beginning, but once it dries, i am getting mostly musk, red patchouli and leather with a grounding vanilla in the background. i may have to get a bottle of this one.
