this smelled pretty much exactly how i thought it would- mostly lavender that's softened a bit by the other notes. masculine without being 'manly' and very fresh. it smells just like a lavender cologne that caswell massey had when i worked there.
-
ahhh i cant express how much i love this one! rich warm amber and carnation are the most prominent on my skin. it's a slightly spicy amber on me, and i need big bottle stat.
-
this smells like commercial men's cologne at first. the color that comes to mind with this is yellow-green. im not sure why. it's very fresh and sharp and now that it's dried down i smell soapy and has a lavender-ish smell with something sweet in the background which may be the jasmine or r ose geranium.

this is a soft bubbly floral. probably is plumeria or another tropical floral, like others have said. it's very summery and light. not my sort of thing so i will swap it.
-
i think i am mostly smelling the tobacco and woods. it's very woody on me (or it could be the linen..). something in it definitely smells like trees or vegetation. i love leather and tobacco, so i thought i'd try this out, but the woods are too prominent for my tastes, so i think i'll swap it. it's an interesting scent though! ive never smelled anything quite like it. it's just not very 'me'.

at first lilith is really strong. i smell the wine and musk and the rose in the background, as it fades it turns into a spicy-wine-floral. kind of..warm dark and sexy. now that it's faded the wine has faded a bit and a soft dry spicy rose sent prevails.

when i first put this one on, it's a floral with a kind of stinging sharpness to it, which i assume is the black pepper. the sharpness fades quickly and grandmother of ghosts turns into an absolutely beautiful bouquet of sweet (but not cloying) flowers. i love it until it dries, then it turns into musky dryer sheets. which isn't necessarily bad, i just love the wet stage so much, that it's kind of a let down. still i may keep this imp-it's such a pretty scent!

hmm..it is very hard for me to pick out the notes in this. it's warm and the tiniest bit spicy and mostly woody. i can faintly smell the rose as well. it smells sort of musty/dusty to me- perhaps that is the saffron. this scent is ok, just doesn't really do much for me. also it fades very fast.

i get a jasmine (or honeysuckle)-rose-baby powder smell from this one, which isn't exactly up my alley. it reminds me of something i can't put my finger on, like i've smelled it before. i like rose but am not a big fan of the other notes, so i am swapping this one. i didn't test in public to see if any boys followed me though

smells pretty much like red hots on me. i think i smell the neroli but not the almond so much. i LOVE neroli, but am not a huge cinnamon fan, so this one isn't thrilling me. however, i must say it's the best bpal cinnamon i've tried, as all the others have turned to powdery-cinnamon, which i like even less than red-hot cinnamon. red hots smell good, but i don't really wanna perfume myself with them, so this one's goin to the swap pile!

let me premise my review with saying i don't really know what orchids smell like. to me this is a dark purple-pink scent with some green added. it smells so so so familiar, i have been smelling my arm trying to figure it out, and i THINK it's the betsey johnson perfume i wore in high school, that had little pink flowers drawn on the bottle. i can't remember if the perfume had a name, or if it was just called 'betsey johnson', but shadow witch orchid definitely reminds me of it. this is floral but in a dark way, it's not light or cloying, but has a sweetness to it, like a lot of other reviewers have said. i find it kind of sexy too. i may consider a big bottle of this.

yep, smells like the description. butter, caramel and cotton candy is what i smell. i am not big on most foody scents (unless tea counts), so i was apprehensive. i sort of like this though! i have a body scrub that smells a bit like this- i think i'd like midway as a lotion scent more than a perfume, but it's something to wear from time to time.

hm house of mirrors is interesting. i wasn't sure i liked it when i first put it on my skin. once it tones down a bit, it smells like soft roses + maybe some other floral? and soft aquatic and herbal notes. this isn't something i'd want a bottle of, but something i would want to wear from time to time. it's soft and garden-y to me, and softer and prettier than i imagined it would be.

i knew i'd love snake charmer, just KNEW it. and i do! it's warm, spicy and a bit floral. it reminds me a lot of some other bpals ive tried, but can't remember which right now. this is definitely going on my top 10! i just ordered a bottle from the second wave of carnival noir scents.

hrrm i dont know if it's the opium or the poppy, but ive noticed scents with these 2 tend to turn into a typical hippie perfume incense scent on me. which i guess is fine for some people, but it's just not my kind of thing. i suspect it is the opium, as i recall having opium scented incense in high school that reminded me of this.

ooooh this one is a subtle, warm floral. i normally like dark dusky spicy florals, but from time to time i like a softer one such as pele. i think i smell the pikaki and some sort of added softness, almost gives me an amber feeling, but it's not that strong. this is definitely a summer scent- very delicate and pretty.

there's something in this that doesn't smell quite right on me. it could be the rosewood, as i think it didn't work on me in another scent. it smells kind of sweet, but herbal and reminds me of a commercial perfume. it gives me a headache, which is too bad, because i love bergamot and many of the other notes, but this just gets incredibly strong and overwhelming on my skin.
-
oh the sandalwood (with a hint of chocolate) is so strong it gives me a headache. and i think that's all i can smell in this scent. i think i'll go wash this one off unfortunately. trying again 18 years later: dusty, woody cacao. i appreciate this more now but it's still kinda too woody for me.

i am normally not a friend of peachy/apricot scents, or fruity scents in general, but this combination sounded so nice, i had to try it (while hoping the other scents would temper the apricot a bit.) the apricot is apparent, but melds very beautifully with the other scents. yerevan is a bit spicy and warm, and i see it as a hot summery desert scent. i'm not sure i'll keep this, but i am tempted to, as it is the first bpal apricot scent that has worked on me! it would be something i would wear once in a blue moon though.

i got this as an extra in a swap. i've never tried civet and am not a big fan of patchouli. needless to say, entropy doesn't like me. it smelled like roses and bad breath, which i assume is the civet, but can't be sure. i'd never smelled anything else like it though, so i am pretty sure it's the civet. it was one i had to scrub off my arm.
-
oh man, i was almost completely sure i'd love this one. alas, the caramel is way too strong for my liking. all i can really make out is the asian spice, caramel, black currant and amber, i think. it smells VERY foody and a bit smoky-fruity on me. it doesn't smell bad by any means, it is really just not 'me'.

i'm not big on neither peach nor patchouli. this was a frimp from the lab, and nothing i would've ever chosen for myself. still, it DOES smell better than i thought it would! but it's too sweet for my tastes, so off to the swap pile!
-
i think i mostly get the lemon peel, lavender and bergamot. it's a bit too masculine in a way that i dislike. a bit sharp and soapy. once the leather came through i liked it a bit more, but i just don't think it's for me. and i love all those notes (except patchouli).
-
yay another patchouli scent i can wear! (which is a rare thing i tell you.) masquerade is warm, spicy and a bit earthy. i loooove carnation and orange blossom, and luckily, mixed with those notes, i can handle the patchouli in this. it's warm and has a bit of a bite to it which i love!

at first i get a coffee-like smell. then it smells exactly like a strawberry shortcake doll. fruity is totally not me. but it's interesting nevertheless!
