i love this one. it smells sexy and a bit vanilla/spicy. it seems more complex than the 2 notes it claims to have. i swear i smell vanilla! but maybe it's just the way it reacts on my skin. i may have to get a large bottle of this...

a fresh, gentle forest scent like the description. i am not sure i can make out the white rose, but if it's there it's very faint. there's no smokiness to this, it smells like a softened pine to a degree. unfortunately my skin eats it right up

this one is kind of confusing to me. when i first put it on i smell a sharp but sweet floral scent with a bit of rose in the background, then it fades a bit and balances out between the sweet/sharp scent and the rose. it disappears a bit quickly on me, and at the end smells faintly of tea rose.
-
this is a warm scent. to me it smells like chocolatey-vanilla with something sort of like wood shavings in the background. probably the cedar? i cant decide whether i like this a lot. i think i like the scent, but am not entirely sure i want to smell like it. i may have to give it another try.

oooh i like this one a lot. it's a floral with a bit of smokiness to it. it kind of reminds me of bordello minus the wine with a splash of midnight. the violet isnt very strong- i think i mostly smell the night blooming flowers and incense. this is a very pretty and lovely blend.

rose scents tend to be hit or miss on me, as ive said many a time before. black rose is no different. at first it is very strong and powdery-rosy. not what i like at all, as it fades the musk settles down and smells less powdery, and it's a nice scent, but just not really me, so it's off to the swap pile.

after re-reading the description of this, i really wonder whatever possessed me to even try this one. i dont like patchouli, and dont like myrrh (except in one blend). naturally, i do not like dance of death. on me it smells like patchouli mixed with baby powder. reminds me of commercial 'old lady' perfume.

this is one of those florals that just doesnt work on me, and was way too strong for my liking. i cant pick out the florals at all, i just know that it doesnt smell good on me.

when i first put it on, it smells like burnt almonds. reminds me of hellcat minus the cherry (which smelled like burnt maraschino cherries on me.) once it dries down, it softens and smells like a smoky almond with vanilla in the background. it's a cozy scent. i'm not sure i smell the heliotrope at all, but then i'm not entirely sure if i know what heliotrope smells like. this is one of the few blends with frankincense that works on my skin. 2/15/18: i got a frimp of this in a swap and decided to re-try since it's been 12 years and my skin chemistry has likely changed and my nose is more sophisticated now (to a degree): it smells like cherryish almonds, i don't seem to get the 'burnt' thing i got back in 2005 after a minute or two, i get the soft vanilla and heliotrope, and yes, i know what heliotrope smells like now and it's one of my favorite notes (and seems to be underused in perfumery but that's another story...) so it's a creamy almond heliotrope, it's nice. sweet and gourmand-cozy and comforting in winter, but the almonds lean cherry-ish sweet. (now i want to retry hellcat!) after about 5-10 minutes the sweetness calms down and it's this nice almond-heliotrope with a little hint of frankincense and cinnamon. i would love a bath oil of this-it seems so comforting. glad i got a frimp of this to re-try, which i will definitely keep.

it's hard for me to make out the separate notes. also, i don't really know offhand what many of the florals listed smell like. i definitely can smell the wine, though, and maybe hints of the chocolate. kali is a deep, sweet scent, reminds me of walking through flowers in the dark.

A strange, disconcerting embrace… to some, alarming, and to some, intimately familiar: fig, pomegranate and cocoa bean with lemon, bergamot, vanilla, mellow honey musk, calamus and tonka. when i first apply this, there is some note that is too strong that turns my stomach slightly. it reminds me of a candle wax smell, but i am assuming it's the cocoa bean, honey musk or maybe the chocolate. once it dries though, it is a nice, warm, complex scent. i can definitely smell the tonka, but have trouble picking out the other notes.

to date, this is the only lunacy scent i've tried. it smells like sugary strawberries to me. the strawberry being the strongest note on my skin. it does smell good, but i am not a big fan of fruity scents. pretty but not my style.
-
this is a light, pretty and fresh scent. i pretty much smell the tea and peony with maybe a hint of the herbs. im a fan of deeper duskier scents, but this is one of the lighter scents that i enjoy- good for spring and summer.
-
when i first put this on it smelled like almond extract. and i thought "mmmm almonds". once it dried it smelled like old powdery almonds though. i had high hopes for this one. oh well.
-
i had to try this one because i love bourbon and thought this was a cute idea for a scent. sadly, it didnt really work well on me, which i kind of expected. still had to try it though. it was very boozy with the freshness of mint, but was just too masculine for me.

i think ive said this of a few other scents, but this one smells like gaultier's perfume for women on me. but this one moreso than the others- it's almost exact on my skin, and since i like that perfume, i also like peitho.

djinn was one of those scents i got just for the whole 'i gotta smell this' reasoning, not because i really would think it would work on me. but it does! i have no idea what it smells like or what is in it, but there is something sweet, (not fruity/floral-sweet or cloying) with smoke in the background. it is one of the most interesting bpal scents ive tried. i instantly think of glittering jewels and smoke for some reason. sounds weird, but it's true.

yep smells like leather. i wasnt sure if this would be too 'manly' for me. i despise typical men's cologne scents. but i looove the smell of leather so this worked just fine. and as a female, i dont mind smelling like leather either, nor would i mind it on a boy, because it just smells that good.

ooh this is very pretty and fresh. i mostly smell the grasses and peony, i think. not sure what part the tulip plays. it is a fresh floral scent, but a little too fresh n' floral for me personally. but pretty nonetheless.

Arrr! Avast ye, matey! This be the scent of pirate rum! this smells like coconut rum on me. and reminds me of some old perverted drunk dude. not my kinda scent, but interesting.

another spicy/vanilla-y oriental, so i like this. it reminds me of a subtler love in the asylum. it starts out sweet, but once it settles down smells like soft roses with spice added. its lovely, but i like the strength of love in the asylum better.
-
this comes out on my skin as a slightly spicy, vanilla-floral. reminscent of gypsy queen and love in the asylum to me, except gypsy queen is deeper and sexier and more complex, and love in the asylum has a stronger rose note. i like this one, but of the vanilla/spice-florals, it lacks a little umph for my tastes. it is pretty though!

when i first put this on- it's a STRONG floral. all i can smell is jasmine, and i'm not into jasmine so much, so i find it very overpowering and headache-inducing. now that it has faded a bit i think i can smell, jasmine, musk, sandalwood, and sage. since jasmine and sage dont work well on me, i dont really like this scent.
-
i dont get a masculinity from this scent at all. in fact on me it smells like herbal-floral and VERY sweet and cloying. so much so that it kind of turns my stomach when i smell it, and i think i am getting a headache. i think it could be the iris, which was in another scent i tried which turned bad. but then ive tried an iris scent through bpal (cant remember which one.) poo. i wanted to like this one.

Venerable and solemn: the scent of incense smoke wafting through an ancient church. A true ecclesiatical blend of pure resins. this pretty much smells like pencil shavings on me, and not much else. i am not that familiar with resinous scents though, so maybe it has something in it that turns on me. i thought i might not like this, but liked the idea of it so i wanted to give it a try.
