ah this is beautiful! it smells like some sort of lemon-vanilla cake, but the lemons are very soft and subdued. the citrus just add to the vanilla, and doesn't overwhelm it. it is soaking in very quickly on my skin, and i wish it was a little bit stronger, but i think i've found another favorite to update my wishlist with!

i had a feeling i wouldn't like this one, but figured i'd try it anyway. it was mostly apricot on me, and far too sickly sweet. had the musk been more prominent, and the apricot the subtlest note, i think this may have worked for me.

Green herbs slithering through mint, lime and lavender. oooh this one smells delicious, soft herbal smells with an icy, strong mint shooting through it. when i tried the imp i kept smelling my wrist trying to decide whether i like it or not. i think envy is one of the most interesting scents i've tried. it's relaxing, cooling, and fresh. i still didn't keep it though, because it's just not me. i admire it's complexity though.

i normally like rose, but didn't like this one for some reason. floral, but not in the kind of floral way that i enjoy. i think maybe it's the lilac, as i usually like rose and wisteria. i found this to be sickly sweet in a way, like flowers dying, which is funny because that's what the name means, but i guess i don't like to smell like that.

florals are hit and miss for me, but this is one i love! it's sweet but not TOO sweet. it does smell floral, but has a darkness to it, hence the name midnight i cant pick out any separate scents, but they all go together quite nicely. this is a scent i wear when i feel pretty.

to date, i think black pearl is my absolute favorite bpal scent. it's warm and sexy but also soft enough so that it doesn't overpower my senses. i don't really smell coconut, but like i've said in numerous other reviews, i can't pick out scents. in fact, to ME, perversion smells like coconut, but black pearl doesn't. i'd love to douse my sheets in black pearl, and i will definitely be getting a big bottle. or two. or three.

i think sage and i dont agree, because this was very strong and herbal on me and too pungent so i had to wash it off. i love the other 3 ingredients though, so maybe if it didnt have sage, it would have worked better on me it's too bad, it sounds like it's a beautiful scent on some people.

this one was way too floral for me, or maybe the florals involved just are not to my liking, because i DO like some florals. it smelled sickly sweet and floral in a way i just don't like. of course, it could be some of the other notes that i am disliking, like sandalwood, as i am not as familiar with single notes.

bordello took awhile to grow on me, but once it did i really liked it. it smells like wine + sweet cherries. i cant handle light sweet scents, or things with peach, but this cherry deepened by wine is really nice, and gives it more of an edge.

i guess my idea of sex/sexy is different than most people's, as i don't really find O to be an overwhelmingly sexy scent. it smells like honey poured on a bale of hay, at least on my skin. the vanilla is nice, but i don't like the taste of honey, and i guess i don't like the smell of it either. it seems more innocent to me. not sexy. but maybe i am missing something.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
theseagrows replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
i can't tell if i am having just general allergies or bpal allergies. i got an order of imps on monday, and have been trying them, sometimes 2 at a time on separate wrists, and my allergies have been bad since monday! i didn't realize till TODAY that maybe it's a bpal thing. i really hope not though i haven't had any direct skin allergy. i've just had a slightly sore throat, itchy nose, and sneezing. i had similar allergy problems in high school, but haven't had them for a long time. i live in san francisco now, and hardly ever have allergy attacks. when i do, they usually don't last this long. today i am wearing zombi and my nose is itchy and i keep sneezing. i guess i'll just have to wait a few days, not wear any, and see if it goes away, and if it does, then i'll have to go through all my new imps, one by one and find out who the culprit is. it could be the zombi i'm wearing, but last night i felt sneezy too, and was wearing wanda on one arm and perversion on the other. hmm. -
ooh this is a nice, warm, sexy, tropical scent. on me it smells like burnt coconut, and i like that. i am guessing i am primarily smelling the tobacco and the vanilla. and i can smell the leather faintly, waaay underneath. it smells a bit masculine, and even moreso as it fades, but i like it. except when it's really faded it reminds me of obsession for men. possibly a 5 ml purchase. i notice i am having by far the best luck in the love potions section of the catalogue.

wanda smells like roses and wine with a faint hint of leather in the back. i dont get much fruitiness. thankfully, wine scents seem to do well on me (such a lush ) and wanda is no exception. this is sexxxy. i immediately think of a dark haired woman with a deep red rose in her hair that matches her dress, dancing the tango or something. i must get a 10 ml of wanda!

i wanted to like hunger, it sounded right up my alley from the description, but it just smells harsh on me. there is some underlying earthy smell that i dont like. i want to say its the black narcissus, because i dont know what that smells like, but it could also be the orange blossoms. obviously i need to investigate single notes a bit further.

marie was one of the first imps i purchased from the lab. i love violet and rose, if done right, and marie is done right! some roses become cloying on me, but this one didn't. i cant even tell which scent is strongest- they are so complementary, and i am also not so great at distinguishing scents, but whatever it is, it's lovely. hours later when its dry it smells like a soft violet, and the rose is nearly untraceable. i think i might get a 5 ml of this.

on me, this smells like black licorice and milk mixed together. i keep smelling my arm, one minute i like it, the next minute i've not sure. i keep smelling it to see if it changes, and i don't think it does. just milky black licorice, with a hint of tea. also, it fades quickly on me. i am ambivalent about this scent. i cant decide whether i like it or not! i definitely dont love it, but it could be interesting to wear once in awhile.

i have a love/hate relationship with rose. some scents containing it smell incredible on me (london), while others do not. i really wanted to love whip, but this is one of those rose scents that does not agree with me. it smells exactly like what it says- roses and leather, the rose coming on strong, and the leather in the background. something about this rose smells slightly cloying on my skin though. i think if there was some spicyness added, it might smell better on me. i really wanted to like whip, but my skin just doesnt agree.

i have a love/hate relationship with rose, but i LOVE london. to me it's very sexy in a repressed, victorian sort of way. i imagine a girl from a merchant ivory film wearing this. its a warm, wet, sexy rose with a touch of spice, like the description says.

so far, this is my least favorite bpal scent. it smelled like a freshly cleaned public bathroom- that strong cleaning product-scent. i was intrigued by cinnamon + violet, but hadn't ever tried frankincense, which i think was the overwhelming scent here. at least i know that i can't do frankincense now. i tried to get see if i would like it once it dried, but it was so strong that i got a headache and had to wash it off.

when i first put this on i loved it! i love violet and tonka so i figured this one i would really like. now that it's dry, it's turning powdery, and it reminds me of "old lady" perfume, which isn't necessarily bad- it actually reminds me a bit of oscar de la renta, which one of my grandmothers used to wear. i like florals with a bite or spiciness to them, and somehow the spices and clove aren't coming through for me at all
-
in my last order, i ordered a bunch of imps containing leather, and loviatar was one of them. at first, it smells woody + leather. it also, strangely reminds me of this drugstore perfume my grandmother had, but also like a very woody men's cologne. i think maybe it's the myrrh. i am still getting to know what notes work for me, so i'm not sure, but that's what i am guessing. unless it's the leather, but i have a few others with leather that dont come off so masculine or overpowering on me. i wanted to like this one, but i'm just not sure it's for me. after letting it dry down: LOVE it! very sexay. it's just a bit too potent in the beginning, so maybe i can find some way to dilute this.

wow, when i first brushed this across my wrist and smelled it, the first thing i thought was "whoa, this is weird, but i think i love it." like everyone else said, it smells like roses and fresh turned dirt. or the way dirt smells after rain- roses, dirt and rain. i think it's very strange, but i love it. it's the most unique scent i've smelled from bpal so far.

i am a newbie, and i am not good at picking out scents. for instance, i've heard of neroli, but have no idea what it is/smells like, BUT i will say, whatever desire smells like on me, i LOVE it, and it is going to be my first big bottle purchase i am getting the warm musky vanilla smell that some people have mentioned, but with something deeper, and i dont know what it is. maybe patchouli? except usually i hate patchouli. but whatever it is, it gives it a nice duskiness, that makes it not very vanilla-y at all, but deeper and spicier. desire is the first bpal scent that has really wowed me.

i just re-tried this one after many months, and i still don't like it. unlike many people on here, i can't really pull out specific scents, but the smell in the vial is sickeningly sweet. after it dried, it DID smell better, but was still too fruity and/or sweet for my tastes.
