i enjoy the creamy/vanilla/sugary florals so knew i had to try this. it starts off with primarily cream and rose...the cream has a sort of burnt sugar thing going on. after a few minutes i get a little bit of jasmine too. after about 15 minutes the burnt sugar note wears off and it's mostly rose, cream and a little bit of amber. it ends up primarily a rose cream after the drydown with a little hint of amber. i know i've tried several other bpals in the same vein and i think i'll stick with the ones that are slightly less foody. that burnt sugar thing doesn't really work for me...

i love these warm beeswax scents when they work on me, and this one seems to do just fine. i love both notes and they are showcased nicely here, though i'd say the beeswax is the stronger of the two in the beginning. i get a floral honey note and later on, after maybe an hour the amber is much more prominent and mingles so nicely with the beeswax. i may need a bottle of this.

this is mostly sandalwood and vanilla cream with hints of tea rose that seem to flit in and out. it’s not an understatement to say that i love this and i wish i had more.

right off i smell mostly honey with camellia. it's a very pretty scent that i think would be great for spring and summer (i'm currently testing in winter.) it remains mostly camellia on me with honey in the back and just little hints of tobacco.

Lovers at the Entrance to a House of Pleasure Spied on by a Kamuro Through the Hanging Curtain

this starts with oakmoss and tobacco-the base notes seem to be strongest at first, oddly enough. after a minute or two i get some champaca blossom i believe. later on i get magnolia and some vanilla orchid and maybe a tiny hint of gardenia, but i was expecting the gardenia to be much stronger. it's primarily magnolia-tobacco on me at this stage and smells like a classic scent from a time past. not as tropical as i originally imagined it would be. -
starting off i smell rose and a slightly nutty vanilla. after about 5 minutes, the nuttiness is gone and the rose is getting stronger along with the frankincense which adds a warmth in the background. at first i wasn't so sure about this because the rose was a bit strong and somewhat sour, but after the frankincense balances it out, it's just gorgeous!

i definitely smell the 'mirrors' as the strongest note starting out- it's an ozone note with hints of the warmth of the 'bronze' in the background. it smells very fresh and it makes me sneeze a little. it does bring to mind house of mirrors, and though i haven't tried that scent in ages, this one seems colder and more ozone-y if memory serves. there's something here that's soapy and floral. i think it's peony. the warmth in the background is a nice note but i'm not sure what it is. so overall it's an ozone-y soapy floral...not really working for me but still glad to try it as the description was so intriguing.

right off i smell mostly ti leaf and cedarwood. a light woody tea scent with an herbal edge from the white sage. after about 5 minutes the scent changes dramatically and it's primarily fig and woods with a bit of spice. the fig in this turns a bit plasticky on me. it's a sweeter rather than a greener fig.
-
lavender is definitely the strongest note starting out. i also get some bergamot, woods and the spiced oriental blossoms. it's very pretty! after about 15 minutes it's mostly spiced blossoms and cotton blossom. it smells a bit dryer sheety now, and i am not liking it as much as the first few minutes. still pretty, just not for me.

i smell the bourbon vanilla, and frankincense first, then the skin musk blooms. this is pretty but it's so subtle. a warm skin musk scent for sure. i find it simple, subtle and close to the skin. pretty, but just not enough complexity or sillage for me personally...
-
right off the bat i get lily and blood orange-it's a sweet fruity floral. the lily is really intense on me for some reason, maybe i amp lily? I'm not sure because it's been a long time since i tried a scent with it. it does smell tropical and bold...all i seem to get is mostly lily and orange. maybe some honey amber and orchid, but i don't smell cacao or dragon's blood at all.

first off i smell wisteria and green tea. it's very light and pretty. as the scent blooms the wisteria becomes more prominent. the frankincense and clove becomes more apparent after about 15 minutes but they're very very subtle-they add nice backdrop but this is primarily a wisteria and tea scent on me. very refreshing and light and perfect for spring.

this is a slightly resiny vanilla rose scent...i smell mostly lace, rose water and a hint of opium. when i sniff the decant, i smell lavender strangely, but not when i spray it. not sure why i am smelling that. maybe it's the 'pale cologne'? i think the other notes are there but primarily i'd say this is a rose and lace scent. it has a vintage feel like dried roses. very pretty!

this starts off pretty soapy on me, with a hint of yuzu. it's like an old fashioned soap with yuzu. i think mostly white musk, orris and lilac are prominent at first. after about 15-20 minutes on the skin it's a soapy violet-white musk with yuzu. an odd scent and just far too soapy with my skin chemistry.

this smells like golden metallic woods. it smells shiny and gold, much different than i imagined. in the background i smell mostly wax and maybe some mahogany. i don't seem to get much leather. after awhile the metallic/aquatic note dies down a bit but it's still always there, giving this more of a traditionally masculine quality. it definitely calls to mind drippy candles in a golden candelabra, however the metallic note isn't for me...

hmm i don't know what to make of this, haha. at first i was unsure whether i liked it, it was a bit brittle and strange...i think the patchouli started a bit sour on me. after about 10 minutes there's more honey and leather which are really the notes i was after the most. it seems like there is something else in there, maybe it's the type of honey? i'm not sure. the patchouli seems to subside pretty fast on me and the honey and leather dominates. overall i think i like it but it's not a total love as i guess i was hoping for more leather and a more beeswax-y honey, whereas this honey seems more floral and sweet to me.

this starts with pure lilac with a hint of a soft crystal musk. i have to inhale deeply to smell the amber, which is quite subtle. this is a pretty scent, really almost like a lilac single note on me for the first 20-30 minutes. after awhile it's a very pretty lilac-amber.

i smell slightly sour roses and a oud that is thankfully more medicinal than barnyard, like bpal's black oud note is on me. there's a dry and woody sandalwood in the background. it smells quite sour and sharp on me at first. after awhile it's primarily sour rose with hints of oud. i like these notes and want to like this but it' just goes sharp and sour on me unfortunately.

at first i get mostly gardenia and ti leaf with maybe a hint of osmanthus. it's all icy cold florals with a slightly citrus-y thing from the ti leaf. the osmanthus blooms after a few minutes on the skin and adds a slight fruitiness. the 'icy' musk comes out and tends to dominate later on, and now i think i can smell a hint of orchid as well. after being on the skin about 20 minutes it's primarily soft, clear musk and gardenia on me. this is a very unobtrusive scent, and would be ideal for work or similar situations.

i got as little decant of RR to see what all the fuss was about. yep it's patchouli and vanilla primarily with a hint of hemp. patchouli is hit or miss for me, depending on the blend, but i like it in this. this smells a little like earthy chocolate for some reason, and i like it. after awhile that sweetness seems to disappear somewhat and it's mostly a dry patchouli and hemp. this isn't something i would wear a lot but would like on occasion, especially in cooler weather.
-
in the beginning i get vanilla, coconut and white sandalwood. also, there is something in this is cool like the lab's 'marble' or 'porcelain' note that i recall from other bpal scents. i don't get any amber yet. the coconut strengthens as the sandalwood weakens and it's primarily vanilla-coconut after about half an hour. that coolness is still there, which makes an odd mix of cool and warm sweetness due to the vanilla and coconut notes.
-
starts off with a very strong rose and a sweetish tobacco. the notes seem to be there in equal amounts, though as the scent dries down, the tobacco seems to bloom and get a little sweeter and stronger with the rose fading a bit. after awhile they are fairly equally balanced...i love both notes, and this is a deep red rose so i am really liking this one a lot.

i'm finally trying this after all these years! it's a grassy fresh cucumber-y scent. it's got a cooling summer vibe...which is why i am testing it during a heatwave it reminds me a bit of the scent of my hair after washing it with super old school herbal essences shampoo: grassy, a bit herbal with cucumber. very cooling, refreshing and uplifting on a hot summer day. i'm glad i finally got to try this.

this starts off with something a bit nutty and some watery florals. not quite sure what i'm smelling here. maybe vanilla and mallow flower? the florals in this are soapy on me, unfortunately...it's like vanilla soapiness. after a few more minutes, i get sweeter florals and the soapiness subsides a little bit but it's still present. i also get some sandalwood at this point. after being on the skin about half an hour, it settles into a pretty vanilla-sandalwood with florals.

this is so lovely! it starts with vanilla, tea and a hint of violet and jasmine, it's so pretty. the notes are blended perfectly, but mostly it's like a slightly sweet candied jasmine with tea. it's got a nice creaminess that isn't overwhelming. so pretty and light and perfect for spring and summer.
