    Regan

Being a vanilla addict, I've been dying to try this one for awhile, and I have to say, I really like this scent! Going on my skin, Regan is a soft, soapy floral. There is a hint of greenness to it that reminds me of Shadow Witch Orchid and Slippery Poppy Tincture. As it dried on my skin, it morphed into a delicate floral with a hint of vanilla to soften the edges. The vanilla isn't foody at all, but rather sweet. The throw is decent, and it lasts for a surprisingly long time for such a soft scent. Overall, a delicate, pastel purple scent that is just lovely.

    Queen of Sheba

It just makes me so angry! I love almonds, I love the smell of almond extract, and I'd be so freaking happy if I could find an almond-based scent. But BPAL almonds hate me so This scent is straight up almonds and honey on me, which should smell good, but it doesn't. It just smells.. off, I guess. The almonds are bitter and the honey goes all dusty on me. Sadly, I don't get any of the spices that other people get. After it stays on my skin for a bit, it fades and doesn't smell too bad, but still, nope, not for me.

    Lick It Til It's Sticky

Eh. I really don't know what I was expecting with this one. I got all peppermint extract and no sugar. Not bad, I think I was expecting more sweetness though.

    Now Winter Nights Enlarge

Wow, I really thought this scent would work on me! When I first applied this, it was scorched caramel. As it dried, the burnt smell faded and I was left with a funky smelling incense smell. I don't know if it's the red musk turning on me, or what. Overall, it wasn't that great. Well, off to the swaps for thee, decant! Edit: I let this sit for a month and some change, and the burnt note in it has faded significantly. Now I have a very very sweet incense smell, which is much better. Still going to sell it, but if you tried Now Winter Nights Enlarge and didn't care for it, let it sit for a bit and try it again. You might like it!

Mother Shub's Spiced Lait de Chèvre

Nom nom, I smell egg-nog! This scent smells like homemade egg-nog with brandy in it, eggy with cream and nutmeg. It faded very quickly though, and had little throw. It smells good, but I don't think I'll be getting a bottle.

    Pink Snowballs

Well the reviews were very accurate, Pink Snowballs smells like Snow White with a wee bit of rose. The problem is that Snow White morphs into play-doh. So.. I have play-doh with rose. I'm very sad.

    Kabuki

Kabuki is a very interesting scent. It's what I always thought Blood Kiss should smell like, sweet cherries covering something dark and sinister. Not very me, but still a nice scent

    Jacob's Ladder

Jacob's Ladder '08 Sigh, the moment I saw the words 'masculine' and 'cologne' in the reviews, I knew that Jacob's Ladder would be a bad idea. Manly scents and me just don't get along. As far as one goes, though, it smells pretty nice. It pretty much smelled the same in the vial, and on me skin; men's cologne with a smooth base of tonka. A very dark golden scent. It's a very nice scent, but I tend to like sweeter, more feminine scents.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

Definitely The Girl. It still confuses me that I get vanilla from it, since it's not listed in any of the notes.. anyway, it smells mostly like vanilla musk on me, and is very girly and innocent. Lyonesse just became my new favorite vanilla scent so I have to recommend it, but it seems a bit sultry for a younger woman. Let us know what you decide on!

    Lyonesse

Wow. This is just freaking amazing. I've never had really good luck with GC scents. Most go pretty wonky on me, and the ones I do like had to grow on me. Lyonesse was the first scent that I loved at first sniff, though. In the vial, it's a creamy floral, but on the skin, it's .. indescribable. It's amber, but not a powdery, oriental amber. It's vanilla, but not an overly sweet vanilla. There's lilies, but they don't turn to soap on me. It's a golden scent that smells almost edible, but not like any food I've ever tasted. It has good throw, but it's only flaw is that my skin eats this scent up. Apparently my body likes it as much as I do I haven't tried any of the scents it's been compared to, but I'm going to have to track them down now. Overall, an amazing scent that I think everyone should at least try.

    Snow White

Ok then. In the imp, Snow White '09 smells lovely, very bright and fresh, a clean scent. Like happiness in a bottle. Then I put it on and it morphs into Dana O'Shee, which on me is play doh. Faint play doh. I just don't understand what those two scents have in common! Sigh, well I sent the bottle to a good home, where it will be appreciated.

    Shadow Witch Orchid

I got Shadow Witch Orchid as a frimp from the lab today. Since I don't think I've ever smelled an orchid before, you might want to take this review with a grain of salt In the imp, it mostly smelled fruity, with a hint of perfume. Very nice! Going on my skin, it turns to a.. hmm, it's hard to describe. It smells like sticking your nose into a bottle of flowery shower gel, I guess. It's definitely a light purple/pink sort of scent, very gentle. It seems to be fading pretty quickly on me. I like it somewhat; it smells nice and it has a very flowery tone to it, but I don't know it it's me. I'll probably hang onto it and try it later.

    Megaera

I bought Megaera some time ago, but I never really tested it until now. It's one of those scents that don't morph that much going on the skin. After I swiped it on, I kept sniffing at my hand, trying to figure out what what it reminded me of, and I finally got it: Bubblegum. This scent has a light hint of bubblegum to it that I really don't care for. I'm still new at this, so I can't really pick out a specific note, but the overall impression is a light, fruity scent. There's no edge or hint of darkness to break it up, definitely something a girl in her early teens would wear. The scent stays close to the skin, and there is zero throw. Overall, it's one of those scents that aren't offensive, but not that great either.
  14. Hmm, I'd have to say that Illustrated Woman is my 'sexy and smutty' scent. Going on wet, it's very strong patchouli, but when it dries, it softens to a musky vanilla that just smells nice O is also pretty sexy, but it tends to go a bit powdery on me. The only BPAL scent my SO likes is Beaver Moon 07, so I guess I could put that down as sexy too

    Blood Kiss

Well, I've finally figured out my most hated note due to this scent. Vetiver. I didn't get any other note out of this, just vetiver. It was.. interesting.

    Candy Phoenix

Hmm, not bad. I'm not normally a big food/sweet scent person, but I got this as a frimp, so I had to try it! Candy Phoenix goes on very sweet and sugary. I don't really notice any particular fruits in it, there was just a general scent of red berries and sugar. As the scent wears down, there's an underlying creaminess that's reminiscent of Beaver Moon. Wow, ok, this really reminds me of Beaver Moon the more I wear it. I like it more though, it doesn't have the artificial tinge that Beaver Moon had going on me. It's not really my thing, but it smells quite nice. I'll definitely wear it, but I won't beat myself up for not having a bottle Edit to mention that it has grown on me. I need a bottle now! (Yeah, gl with that.. )

    White Rabbit

Stupid, stupid skin. Why must you ruin all? *eyes arm with hatred* Well, this smelled freaking awesome in the imp. It was a creamy vanilla smell with a bit of a bite to it. Then I put it on, and get soap. But not just any soap. A very specific soapy smell that I get from Slippery Poppy Tincture. It's this sharp, green scent that gives me a bit of a headache. I'm hoping that I'm just having one of those days where nothing smells right. So I'm going to go scrub this off and try again in a week. Sigh.

    The Girl

Well, I went through a bit of effort getting a decant of this, but I did it anyway, because I just knew that I'd love this scent. But now that I have it and I'm wearing it, I'm feeling a slight bit of disappointment. I feel guilty, since the scent smells great, but I think I was expecting something different. The Girl is one of those scents that smells the same in the bottle, wet, AND dry. I didn't get any of the elusive, wispy scents that other people got. On me, it was predominantly .. vanilla musk? Yeah, vanilla musk. A nice scent, and absolutely nothing wrong with it, but I thought there would be more. I really thought this would be THE ONE The staying power on this is amazing; I slathered some on my wrist, and it has lasted 5 hours, and through me washing dishes. Overall, a lovely scent that my skin decided to mess with. Sigh. Edit: Ok, I've had a few days to get used to it, and it's really grown on me. I ordered a bottle!

    The Illustrated Woman

Wow, this is really well blended. The only note I can get out of this is patchouli. A very soft patchouli. It starts out rather sharp, then as it dries it softened up quite a bit. I'm horrible at reviewing the blends that have a bunch of notes, since I'm still rather new at this >.< I liked it, somewhat. I used to wear a patchouli oil when I was younger, so I'm rather sick of the smell of it now. It has excellent staying power on my skin, and good throw. I'll probably end up using up the my decant, but I don't see myself buying a bottle.

    Beaver Moon 2007

Well, foody scents aren't really my thing, but I got this as a sniffie from a forumite and had to review it In the bottle, Beaver Moon is rather sharp. There's less cream and more berry. It kind of reminds me of Bewitched in a way. On my skin it smells like... Lifesavers Creme Savers. Raspberry ones. I used to love those when I was younger, and the smell definitely brings me back. The berry scent in this doesn't really strike me as strawberry or cherry, it's more of a generic red berry scent. The scent lasts awhile, and fades into a delicate creamy berry. I liked it, I guess. I'm sure I'd like it more if I had a thing for foody scents, but since I don't, this is rather wasted on me. But it's a good scent, it doesn't go all weird on my skin the way so many others do. I suppose it's for the best that I didn't love it, since it would be a bit of a pain to get a bottle of this

    Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener

Oh my! One of my favorite scents is Tombstone, so I had to try this one out. I mean, sassafras and vanilla? Yum In the imp: Root beer. Bubbly root beer. Wet on my arm, it's still root beer. As it dries down, it softens and turns vanilla-y on me. After about an hour, it goes from being straight root beer to being a combination of spicy sassafras and the vanilla note from Tombstone. It lasts for awhile, but doesn't have a ton of throw, which I'm ok with. I love this scent! It's unique, but in a wearable sort of way. Must.. have.. more...

    Slippery Poppy Tincture

Hmm, I got an imp of this from Alterosen (thanks!) today, and currently have it slathered on the left portion of my right arm. (So many imps, so little skin.. ) In the imp, the mixture smells very flowery and green. I definitely get the tulip vibe that everyone else gets. When I snap the imp shut, I splatter the oil everywhere, including my nose. Great. Going to be one of those days... Going on wet, the oil smells green. You know that smell you get on your fingers after you've picked flowers? That's it. Gradually the smell softens into a light floral, with green undertones. There's a light sweetness in the background that I'm guessing is honey. Overall it's a light, green scent. I don't get any of the heavy floral vibes that everyone else seems to have gotten. I like it, mostly. It's one of those scents that I enjoy much more once it wears on my skin. It's interesting, but I don't think I need a large bottle of this.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Well, cinnamon in most forms tends to give me a slight headache (Big Red, I'm looking at you!) but I bought Red Devil anyway. It gave me a headache, but I was kinda expecting it, lol. Now, oddly enough, any scent that has a spice blend in it tends to make me feel nausceous. I don't know why, I've never had an issue with them before, so I don't know what's up with that. I'm reaching the point where the only scents I own that don't bother me right now are citrus'y ones, such as Baobhan Sith and Kumiho.

    Kumiho

I originally bought an imp of Kumiho to try to see if I could find a longer-wearing replacement for Baobhan Sith. That ended up being a bit of a fail, hehe. They both had very similar notes, but Kumiho faded on me within an hour, which was too bad since it smelled great. In the imp, Kumiho smells fresh and oddly floral, a very soft, white scent. Going on, though, you can smell the ginger popping through, giving it a bit of a bite. After a few minutes the ginger fades and you're left with a soft, light tea scent that smells delicious. Unfortunately, there's no throw and it wears away too quickly. I might have to buy a huge bottle of this and drench myself, or find a way to make the scent last longer. One aspect of this scent that I love is that on my skin it smells exactly the way it's described; white tea and ginger. Don't get me wrong, I love the way all of these BPAL oils morph on my skin; it's very unpredictable, and you don't know what you'll end up with. But it's also nice to occasionally reach for one that does what it says it will do

    Eternal

Well, I just got an order of imps yesterday (thanks schackjj!) and Eternal was the first one I popped on. In the imp: The oil in the imp is very pale and delicate, and the scent feels somewhat the same. It's a very light floral, very well blended without any notes 'sticking out'. Wet: Oooo! It smells like gardenias! It reminds me of this Chanel Gardenia perfume, only with more depth. I like it. Drydown: ... soapy flowers? Shit. I've decided my skin is the touch of death to perfume oils. If anything can go soapy/powdery/play-doh'y, it will. Well, I still like this, soapy flowers and all. I'll just have to invest in a scent locket or something.
