    Silver Phoenix

In the decant and upon initial application to my wrist I got a very soapy vibe. Nice powdery floral soap, but still soap. I was hoping the wild pear would be more pronounced. After an hour or so of wear it's a nice floral aquatic with a hint of warmth to it. Kind of soft and powdery, but nice. This is a pretty gentle blend that sticks close, mellows out quickly and stays unassuming. It doesn't knock my socks off, but I don't dislike it either. I can see how it would fit the bill nicely for people who need a scent that doesn't overwhelm or attract attention.

    Fire, smoke and ash scents

    Second for RUMPELSTILZCHEN
and Salome smells just like a camp fire in the woods to me although from the reviews it looks like I'm the only one getting that.

    Bliss

I got this as a frimp from the lab, which is really nice because it was on my list of things to try. In the imp: sweet candy bar chocolate. I would agree it smells a lot like Hershey's. On my skin: For about a minute it stays the same as in the imp. Then it changed into a scratch-n-sniff sticker sort of chocolate, by that I mean that it lost any depth to the scent and had more of a surface quality rather than complexity or layers or nuances. That lasted for a couple minutes and then all that was left was the kind of sour or more bitter part of the chocolate. Then within another 10 minutes or so it was totally gone. It was an interesting but short scent experience.

    Badger

In the bottle it is rich and pungent, very earthy with a hint of sweetness. On my skin, I'm thinking two words, lush dirt. There is a richness and depth here that is spectacular. I'm getting the cedar and some vetiver but they're totally different than I've ever smelled in any other blend before. I'm totally in love However, I just got this in a swap today and I've already tested it three times. Unfortunatly Badger lasts less than an hour on me. At the end of two hours even the slight residual traces are gone. Kind of a bummer. I'm hoping to get a scent locket one of these days though, maybe it will stick around longer that way.

    Voodoo

This is one of those weird times when I'm getting something quite different than 6 pages of reviewers. In the imp - bright and intense. I'm feeling the sharpness of eucalyptus mixing with pine and vetiver. On my skin - the pine and vetiver have hijacked this scent and taken it to an unfriendly place. It's the kind of musky sweet that's reminding me of blends with civit in them. For some inexplicable reason smelling this makes me feel uncomfortable, it's reminding me of . After some dry down - mellowed out into a musky musk with a pine edge to it. The more it calms down the more I like it, but that intense wet stage really puts me off.

    Red Lantern

08 version Wet on my skin I get a lot of sweet fruit, which I think must be the currant, also a beautiful bright sugary floral- but laying the foundation for all of this is a deep, rich amber lurking in the background. It's a unique sensation During dry down the coconut starts to come out and the amber that was in the back now comes forward but the intoxicating fruit/floral/sweet is still there and it's turning into something alltogether fantastic. I could sniff this all day long and not get tired of it. It's warm and procotave while retaining a little extra something special all its own. In a room full of beauties Red Lantern is the one that will surprise and delight you.

But Men Loved Darkness Rather Than Light

Woodsy, earthy, incense... but surprisingly light in feeling. I'm not detecting vanilla as a specific note but the spices are here and very smooth. If you like patchouli but it's usually too heavy for you, if you like spices but don't like them being overly foody or incense-ish, this would be a good blend to try. It's not too sweet, not too strong, not too heavy... it's juuuust right.

    The Black Temple Burlesque Troupe

First sniff - I would say this smells in the vial exactly as described: cocoa, musk, tobacco. On my skin - YES. This blend absolutely works. I've had problems with cocoa being too overpowering or being paired with other notes that made it seem like the cocoa went sour, but THIS is perfect. The Musk and tobacco blend together in a rich luxurious harmony and the cocoa stands in the back quietly supporting them. I think this is a fantastic blend that will only get better with age. I really need a bottle of this.

    Mason & Jenkin's Port Jelly

First sniff - Sniffing Mason & Jenkin's Port Jelly makes me want to giggle with glee, almost like sniffing it is like hearing a silly joke from a playful kid. It smells like red candy, could be gummy candy or jolly ranchers - but it smells sweeter than I normally think of jelly smelling. On my skin - it remains pretty much as it was in the vial but the sweetness does soften up a bit. I was expecting something with a detectable boozy note, but it didn't happen. That's fine, this is a sweet, fun, fruity scent and it made me smile.

    Mother Shub's Pfancy Pfefferneusse

yuuuuum Spicy cookies. I've got them. First sniff from the vial it seemed like spices and ginger, quite a lot of ginger. On my skin the spices balance out with the ginger and the cookie notes and it becomes warm spicy goodness. I'm curious to do a side by side comparison with Shub-Niggurath.

Mother Shub's Spiced Lait de Chèvre

First sniff – boozy vanilla, yes to the coffee liqueur... it smells very lovely. Delicious even. On the skin - This seems very vanilla with just a hint of creamy coffee. It faded off my skin FAST though. Many of the boozy scents do, which is a shame because I love them so much.

    The Adoration of the Mi-Go

First sniff - something good is happening here, something that feels plant-like and kind of refreshing On the skin - aquatic without being soapy. It seems softly musky behind the more green notes, but I don't think I would have guessed incense unless you told me. It smells clean and breezy, not obtrusive, very pleasant.

    Yule Cat

First sniff – musky and green. I think I'm getting a bit of pine. On my skin - musky, pine-ish green, and leather. This scent feels heavy and dark. Like wearing a leather jacket in the forest at night.

    Sleipnir

In the vial the hazelnuts come forward first followed by a freshness and sweetness I attribute to the hay and carrots. On my skin the hazelnuts back down a bit after a few minutes and the scent mellows and blends. I love the combination of hay and carrots, they lend a freshness that keeps the foody aspect of the blend feeling light and pleasant. Bottle worthy for sure

    On Darkness

I wanted to give this a try since I love lavender. Unfortunately all I'm really getting is the rose geranium

    Lick It Til It's Sticky

I'm in love What else can I say? This is a straight up peppermint. First sniff after application to my skin made me feel like I was getting a blast of cold minty air in my nose.

    Hypothermia

In the vial - a mix of strong mints, eucalyptus among them for sure On my skin - mint hybrid that soon turns soapy. Then it just keeps on being soap.

    El Dia de los Reyes

In the imp - smells 100% like I'm sniffing a mug of hot cocoa. This is specifically hot cocoa and not any other form of chocolate. On my skin - smells exactly as it does in the imp. I smell like I've suddenly morphed into a mug of cocoa. All I need now is a companion marshmallow scent

    Diable en Boîte

In the imp - woods, spice and something very sweet On my skin - clove, musty wood and something very sweet This reminds me somewhat of March Hare because of the clove+sweet fruity/floral.

    Ded Moroz

In the imp I smelled what seemed to be amber with a hint of anise? On my skin it smells herbal and clean. Nice but not what I was expecting. Oh, and I'm not a fan of rose and I don't detect any here. The longer I sniff the more it grows on me. A trace of mint? It's quite lovely. Ok, I've had more time to devote to observing this scent. I don't know what I was thinking but there's no anise, but strong mint phase in the early dry down. The base smells warm, the amber I assume, a hint of woods, and that slightly soapy mint. Eventually the mintyness mellows and balances with the warmth and the hint of soap to create a rather pleasant mood. Although I'm a fan of some blends with mint in them, this one doesn't sing for me.

    Now Winter Nights Enlarge

No caramel here. For me this is sexy in a bottle. I've heard people say that before and I never really understood what that would be like, but now I do. I'm getting honey and musk and vanilla and patchouli as listed ... and this is one of the only places where ylang ylang is working for me and indeed it's doing it's job perfectly like *this* is what it was made to do. This is a musky blend unlike any other I've sniffed and I am head over heels in love with it. I hope my partner lets me put this on him... I think he'll like the results if he does edit to update - When my partner sniffed this he had an unexpectedly visceral negative reaction to it. It was pretty strange. I continued to do a few more skin tests and found that the more I wore it the less fond of it I became, which is usually the opposite of what happens. I've continued to enjoy many scents my partner doesn't like, so it's not entirely that. This was a really interesting scent experience.

    Joulumuori

I had a really strong emotional reaction to Joulumuori as soon as I sniffed it. I got the feeling of bricks and something a little earthy and sweet. It feels familiar in the way that I think it reminds me of a person or place, but I can't think of why or how. I can't figure out exactly what it is here that I'm reacting so strongly to, but whatever it is makes me feel really, really happy. On my skin it dries down to a sweet, warm spice that is neither foody or incense like and it still has a hint of something mysterious and beautiful in it. It smells on my skin as it does in the vile but somewhere after the first few minutes I seem to have lost the bricks part of the scent. If I had to guess I would say that it's the mead that's remaining, but it doesn't seem boozy to me at all, more of a sort of earthy honey warmth. I think I amp lemon usually, so I'm surprised to see other people mentioning lemon here because I'm (thankfully) not getting any at all. I finally realized what this reminds me of. It reminds me of lighting incense charcoal and burning home made incense of powdered herbs and resins. It doesn't smell like incense itself, but the lit charcoal and the herbs/resins separately, then the honey mead in the dry down. I need a bottle asap.

    Delphi

I love boozy scents. In the imp this smelled of glorious red wine and honey. I got really excited, I thought I was falling in love. Then I put it on. The first few seconds was the sharp antiseptic hit of bay, then a deeper earthy scent started to come out and for a few seconds the contrast made kind of a strange mix ... then a BLAST OF ROSE that took over and will not quit. If I get my nose really close to my arm I get a hint of honey, but I'm sitting here in a cloud of rose feeling pretty confused. Where did the wine go? Rose, rose, rose, rose. I saw in the reviews that this happened for other people too, I wish I wasn't one of them. Rose and I don't get along, but once in a while I've appreciated certain kinds of rose in particular blends, but this rose is exactly the kind of rose I try to avoid the most. Lucky for me there are many other wine and honey blends to choose from.

    Pisces 2008

I never would have guessed how much I would love Pisces. I bought it because I am a Pisces, but I didn't expect to like it. I'm not familiar with the notes, so I assumed it would be aquatic. Frankly, my expectations were low, I don't usually like florals or aquatics. That being said, Pisces is a true love. It's soft but strong, floral but earthy, a little spicy musk but not overwhelming, it's watery but not like real water but more like the spirit of water... somehow the dual aspects of Pisces have been represented and united into one beautiful cohesive blend - the light and the dark, the inner and the outer, the aspect of Pisces that is both itself and the summation of the signs before it. I don't have the words to describe how deeply this scent moves me.

    Hay Moon

Yeah, me, too. 9: Me too. I was excited to try Hay Moon because I thought it was the hay note in Gunpowder I was loving so much. Mmmm.... but it's not.
