Chaos Theory VI: Recursive Self-Similarity v7

#336 In the bottle this is such a strong, thick vanilla- almost like vanilla essence. I'm almost certain it has some coconut in it, which is unfortunate as I haaaaate coconut. On my skin, it starts to smell like vanilla sunscreen. Yep, definitely coconut. To be honest, it's not that bad- not what I was hoping for, but it's pleasant enough, if rather faint. I'm also starting to think there might be some white florals in here, but only a touch. Hm. I'll let this one sit for a while before I make a decision.

    Chaos Theory VI: Eris' Tilt-a-Whirl

#94 I'm not very good at identifying notes unless I know what's in the blend, but I'll give it a shot! From the bottle it smells... almost fruity? It's a very bright, slightly sweet scent- almost like bubblegum, so maybe there's a bit of lotus in here. On my skin it almost smells like fruity shampoo- a pleasant smell, but a bit strange. There's something underneath the fruitiness which grounds the scent, stops it from being entirely too sweet- but I have no idea what it is. I would love to know what's in this but unfortunately my nose isn't well trained!

    Egg Moon

In the bottle, and on my skin wet and dry, this is actually sweeter, juicier scent than I was expecting. I've never owned a scent with frankincense, bdellium or dammar gum in it before, so I'm guessing it's one of those notes, but I swear I'm getting a fruity vibe from this- almost like the plum in Frumious Bandersnatch. Apart from the fruit sweetness, this is a soft, spicy scent- not dry at all but very comforting. It's also faint and doesn't stick long on my skin or in my scent locket.

    Amsterdam

I don't know that I can pick out any individual notes, but it's a very fresh, green, slightly watery scent to my nose. It doesn't change much when applied to my skin and doesn't have much throw, but it's pleasant.

    Ordering Imps

I don't think so. IIRC there's 12 'items' allowed for the lowest shipping cost, and one item is one bottle or a six-pack of imps. I don't see why you couldn't order hundreds of imps and just pay more for shipping if that's what you wanted.

    Thorns

To my untrained nose, this smells like peanuts and whiskey- the peanuts I can understand, with the salt, but whiskey? Sigh. I didn't test this because I have no desire to smell like booze and nuts.

    Mata Hari

... Her scent is striking and bold with a delicate yet dark undertone: five roses with soft jasmine, warmed by vanilla, fig, tonka bean and mahogany, spiced with a drop of coffee bean. I'm not one of those people who think jasmine smells like cat pee. However, I do think it smells awful in an intensely flowery way. In the imp, that was all I could smell- not just jasmine, but JASMINE!!!! Once it dried on my skin, a little bit of the rose came out, but this didn't temper the jasmine at all. It lasted maybe an hour or two, and then promptly disappeared, without me getting the faintest whiff of vanilla, fig, tonka, mahogany or coffe, which was dissappointing but also very weird, as I amp vanilla to a ridiculous degree. This one is definitely not for me.

    Lady Lilith

In the imp I can smell the tea and flowers. It's nice and fresh, but not really the kind of scent I go for. After I put it on, I get this sudden whoosh of vanilla-floral awesomeness- not surprising seeing as I amp vanilla to high heaven. The scent stays the same for me but disappears very, very quickly. It's lovely, seeing as I'm not really a florals kind of girl, but I was hoping for more mandarin.

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

The best I can wrangle it is She-muh-vl-sen-cahb. It's confusing me because 'V' isn't actually a consonant that is used by the Aztecs, if I remember correctly (and it's not like I was an expert in the first place). I'm having trouble trying to figure out which syllables are stressed as well. Edited because i can spel gud.

    Smut

This is so much sweeter than I expected! It goes on very sweet, and stays so for quite a while, before drying down to a vanillic kind of muskiness. It has quite strong throw.

    Pink Mood

I got a decant of this purely for the star anise; peony, violet and neroli are not my friends. While I can smell the anise, it's not overwhelming- I can clearly smell the florals, and I'm not really liking them. Once it's on my skin however, it turns to a lovely anise/vanilla mix, which fades to a soft vanilla. It's gorgeous.

    Windward Passage

This smells the same in the imp as it does on my skin. It doesn't smell soapy to me, but it does smell exactly like my bathroom does after I've cleaned it- fresh, aquatic and slightly harsh on my nose. To be honest, I actually really like cleaning my bathroom, so this scent is really nice to me, but not something I'd wear.

    Follow Me Boy

In the imp, and at first on my skin, this smells like baby powder- overwhelmingly strong, slightly lemony-sweet baby powder. It stays like that for an hour or so, and then suddenly morphs into this beautiful sweet, almost vanilla lemon scent, with just a touch of powder. This stage is gorgeous, and may just be worth waiting through the awful baby powder stage for. No comment yet on whether this oil works as intended

    Mother Shub's Pfancy Pfefferneusse

I so desperately, desperately wanted to love this scent- pfeffernusse are my hands-down favourite baked good. When I opened the bottle though, I got a huge whiff of something headache-inducing and vaguely nauseating- a sweet kind of smell, but not in a good way. It does indeed smell like baking, but it's certainly not the spicy scent of the pfeffernusse I'm used to. Determined, I dabbed the tiniest bit on my wrist. It still smelled like nauseating cookies (which I think is the weirdest description I've ever given something). As this dried, though, I started getting beautiful wafts of clove and cinnamon- the nauseating cookies were gone! Or so I thought. It alternates between absolutely gorgeous spices and headachy sweetness, and I can't decide whether those gorgeous hints of spice are worth toughing out the bad bits. I think this is also a very wintery blend- it's the start of summer here and the heat is really not helping with the headachy smell. If the sweetness could tone itself down a little bit I'd have this beautiful spicy-sweet blend that would be beautiful, even if not smelling exactly like pfeffernusse. I may let it age a little and see how it changes.

    Dragon's Milk

I've never smelled a blend containing dragon's blood before. I'm assuming this is what I can smell in the imp- it's slightly fruity and also slightly fake smelling, almost like scented plastic dolls or scratch-and-sniff stickers. It's not unpleasant, just... odd. While it's wet on my arm, it's the same plasticky smell. As it dries I can smell more vanilla, but bringing my wrist back to my nose all I can smell is the dragon's blood. I really can't decide if I like this or not. Yes, it smells plasticky, but in a strangely pleasant way. I think I'll test it further.
