    Licorice Whip Atmosphere Spray

Candy sweet licoriceness. It's not bad, not incredibly special but nice enough to use and I can appreciate the concept!

    Lucille's Room Atmosphere Spray

Decrepid florals and crystalline darkness, best sum this up for me. The flora is strong with this one, but made tolerably opulent with a darker dominating note just beneath the surface, winding it's way through (likely the fossilized black amber) and casting it's glimmer upon them. It does smell like the florals are pinned down or encapsuled so that they are just hovering in place. Suspended in time as savage_rose wrote, is exactly how I would describe it! Lovely, haunting. You do not need many spritzes with this, it will last and linger.

    Implacable Beautiful Tyrant Hair Gloss

All I can say is.. woah. This stuff! All of the notes combine to make a seamless, (to my nose) airy honeyed patchouli scent. A couple of spritzes is definitely enough, this one mists and I didn't realize how much I was putting into my hair. Too much is acrid up close, but generates a cloud of warm-baked-cookie, enclosing syrupy femininity. It's an 'I don't know what I'm smelling but it's so good I can't stand it' goodness. Familiar, luscious and womanly.

Départ Pour Le Sabbat (Aufbruch Zum Hexensabbat)

Wet I am getting most strongly the goat's milk, bourbon and patchouli making a foodie sort of 'cooking on the oven' scent.. it is definitely unique.. Sniffing closely I can detect every note, true to form. Drydown is the best part.. the bourbon hopscotches around a phenomena of goaty creaminess lingering in the background, with a woody honey at the fore. This is how I characterize the scent overall: sexy wood! Sexy broomstick! It IS evocative of the image; a nude, witchy woman straddling a broomstick And I like smelling that way. Get it! I sense this will age wondrously.

What do bottles and labels look like?

There seems to be more than one SMUT 2010 label, I didn't get the one shown here but rather one with two women, one fondling the other's boobz lol. Has anyone else gotten differing labels? Are there only two or are there more? I quite like both of them I would take a photo but my camera sucks at taking close-ups of small items, so the details would be difficult to make out.

    Smut

After all these years, BPAL is smuttier than ever. Three swarthy, smutty musks sweetened with sugar and woozy with dark booze notes. 2010 version In the bottle: This smells exactly like a chocolate with a boozy liquer in the middle, or a boozy cherry cordial to me, it's quite yummy Wearing: At first it seems to fade right away - then the scent pops up again out of nowhere and initially smells kind of like...pee. Then kind of like SEX.. and finally it eases into this sugary grape musky booze. Drydown: Somehow both a feral...and sugary sweet scent, ultimately primal and highly sexual but completely glazed with CANDY. This remains close to the skin as it dries down. It doesn't fade quickly but the throw is not strong on me. Something you have to get a little closer to pick up on.

    The Zadok Allen Vineyard

In the bottle: Definitely VINEGAR, a loud vinegar, almost exactly like apple cider vinegar with an oniony undertone to it. I was a little scared to try it, but knew that it would get better once applied. Wearing: Okay, right away it changed, and it is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. It is a dark fruity wine, very very dark..heady, sexual even. Coffee warms it up and I can sense the rose overlaying everything. It is a candyish rose and makes this a very sweet and valentines-y scent despite the potent darkness lingering underneath. The rose gets more prominent as things dry-down but it is specifically sugary, like a rosewater cake amidst glasses of wine. Overall impression: This is a sexy, whimsical, and romantic scent. Fitting for Lupercalia. Has AMAZING throw.

Cleopatra Testing Poisons on Those Condemned to Death

In the bottle: For some reason in the bottle this is so light I can barely smell it... when I do finally pick up on something it is herbal, and woodsy. Wearing: Upon initial application this is completely bitter, I don't find that to be a bad thing though...it's very unique and mysterious, with a dusty ancient feel to it. This seems like the creation of the poisons amidst sunbaked branches of wood and dried flowers. There also seems to be a musky scent that is reminiscent of somebody laying out in the sun, the actual testing of the poisons is happening here too. As it dries down... it is bitter almond but softened by loud peach and warm honey. Honeyed almonds covering fresh succulent peach slices. There is a floral undertone that renders this elegantly feminine and quite beautiful. It smells like an egyptian paradise. Luxurious. Overall: This is a very complex scent, everything happening in the scene of the painting seems to be depicted here - and the most gorgeous part is what lasts after allowing you to experience the more sinister acts associated with the poisons. It also has great throw which is a surprise since it seemed so light in the bottle.

    The Fruit of Paradise

Smells like...lush, red fruit. Mmmmm...oh perfect. This definitely smells like pomegranite, but sometimes like cranberries - it comes across as some sort of expensive fruit juice. With the addition of a dark, spicy musk that makes it provocative and sexy. Smells like I have been up to some debauch in Hades, smells like I imagine Persephone to after she has corrupted herself and erupted with desire... she is sweet, but she has her darkness just like everyone else - and it stains her with the alluring and exotic scent of the pomegranite that got her into this...I feel like this is a Persephone that doesn't regret it, she gave in and she won't say it - but she wants you to know it, it's burning in her eyes. This, like so many BPAL scents, is completely true to what it is meant to evoke. I am in love.

    Snowball Fracas

Minty dirt, the same dirt I get from Nosferatu. When applied this smells very realistic to being surrounded by fresh smelling dirt - thick and crusted with cold snow. The snow note is a bit dusty at times, and sometimes I feel like there's something flowery beneath. This can go so many ways, it can be seen as rough and cold...or it could be seen as oddly pretty. I didn't know if i'd like it, I wanted a cold and kind of blistering scent and had to choose between Hypothermia or this, I hadn't tested either of them prior and just went for Snowball Fracas. I am glad, because the dirt note being here makes it smell more natural and realistic. I think choosing something else would have came across less snowy and more "minty" overall. This is great if you want to smell like you have been playing around in the dirt and snow to a shameful degree...I mean to a degree where you are messy with dirt caking your hands and ice coating your hair, as if you have been to war and back - a snow war...so I guess this evokes exactly what it was meant to. And yeah, maybe I am weird, but sometimes I do want to smell like that. If you do too, find yourself some of this asap.

    The Peacock Queen

This is, pure rose, I keep thinking "it's just roses" but there is something very very significantly dark about them. I have entirely no idea what makes them seem dark, but they come across as dark gothic foreboding roses. Not sweet at all, something maybe found on an evil queen - I don't even think I sense danger in the scent though - just pure darkness. Not even darkness blanketed over the roses, the roses themselves are dark - and not melancholy either. It's, roses that revel in their darkness, this darkness that is found to be blissful - an abyss of sheer dark that surrounds you and consumes you to such an extent that you can't fear - only be in the midst of it all. Velvety, overwhelming, gray-skies and an eerie softness. As this fades it is ghostly, I wouldn't dare call it light...it is a haunting and ethereal scent. I can't believe how perfect this is. I picked up a bottle of Gothic Horror recently and found it to have a distinct rose note in it, and that was dark - but in an ancient way. I expected Peacock Queen to be more royal, and prickly and arrogant... but that's not really what I get from this. This rose is dark too, but in a consuming way that forces you to embrace the beauty of the shadows, the beautiful aspects of darkness itself. It is soft but has a presence that you can't ignore. This is just beautiful, and perfectly unique.

    Countess Willie

This begins sweet and dusty, like rich candied fruits. As it morphs there is a distinct chocolate added to it - gingery chocolate plums. This seriously dries down to none other than a creamy gingerale float - seems like the amaretto and ginger mixing, oh how glorious... this is such a luxurious and yummy scent.

    Crib Girls

In the bottle this is pure frootloops. On my skin this is...bright, prominent, sexy frootloops! If that even makes sense. As it dries down the lemony scent becomes less demanding, it swells into this rich and very real honey - thick and luscious.

    Hellhound on My Trail

Was swapped a partial bottle of this from devilot, so so so happy!!! It has this tang to it in the bottle created by the bourbon vanilla mixing with the herbal notes, it is quite unique. A faint smokiness to it which I assume could be the brimstone. When applied to my wrist, it is quite sharp. Primarily a creamy Bourbon Vanilla, brimstone, and bay rum from what I can pick up - and the mixture of these notes is creating a sort of spice/cinnamon scent. That scent remains primarily and gets spicier with what seems to be the addition of the tobacco, but I get something kind of flowery from beneath it as well. For me all the notes blend together pretty nicely, it becomes difficult to pick them out individually. I can see this being masculine, but specifically on ME it doesn't come off as such - it just works. It sort of begins to remind me of a lighter version of Devil's Night - but with none of the "bubblegum" I get from DN lol. I think this is because of the related booze, fire, and sugar-based notes. It becomes almost straight spice to my nose, an intriguing blend of spices that a 'bad girl' would wear. It is definitely me, and I love the "hellhound" concept, but at the same time I have other oils that seem similar to this on the drydown - so I won't be looking for more. This is actually great though, because I know I would have an extremely difficult time finding more. I am happy with this much and that I will have it around to sniff and covet

    Black Lace

This is for the '09 version. In the bottle this is absolutely AMAZING, it is the "me" scent that I never thought I would find. I can smell all the notes to some degree. Unfortunately upon wearing, it is not exactly the same. It is primarily vanilla and incense, which isn't actually so bad - I find myself sniffing my wrists a lot which is a good sign The thing is, when I am not isolating the notes, wherever this is more heavily applied smells like SOAP! Fancy soap, sure - but thick with clean dryer sheet smell, and I am not really liking that so much. I must also note that this soapy massacre happens most when it is applied to clothing, I got some on my shirt by mistake and am sorry that I did - because now I am worried about Black Lace's all around value to me. I am going to keep my bottle (obviously) for how gorgeous it smells in the bottle - and also to let it age, because hopefully then it will perfect itself. I would say this is very comparable in ways to Black Temple Burlesque Troupe, which might not be the same for everyone - but it seems as though BTBT is the evil twin of BL lol. They are both dark in their own ways, but think about this being the femme fatale or adult victorian side and BTBT being the she-demon side that BL transforms into at strange hours of the night. I REALLY wish I could try a little of an older batch - an aged sample, just to compare and to love on. This was my first bottle of BL and it is a shame I didn't get to try the original. Maybe I will go about searching for that soon.
