Till they say, as they hear us - poor dead, poor dead! - "Just an hour of this, and our age-long bed - Just a thrill of the old remembered pains To kindle a flame in our frozen veins, Just a touch, and a sight, and a floating apart, As the chill of dawn strikes each phantom heart - For it's turn of the year and All Souls' night, When the dead can hear, and the dead have sight." The dead's cold black flame: opoponax, elemi, juniper, black musk, leather, and wilted mint. Straight out of the box this is just the blackest most hateful mix of industrial grime and dry rotted leather. It's absolutely ghastly. But don't give up on it! It just needs some time to settle. I sped this up by leaving the cap off for a bit and now it's much more polite. In my first sniff notes I wrote down that this smells like demonic windex. In the bottle: Juniper often has a hint of cat pee to it but this does not. It's a nice needley scent with some mint drifting over a subtle black grime. On the skin: The mint becomes the strongest note, there is a threat of pine scented cleaner and the grime dances around the edges. Dry: The mint and juniper have taken a back seat and it's become something almost parallel to Streets of Detroit. Verdict: I'm really impressed with how much it improved over the course of 24 hours and I hope it retains it's semblance to SOD.

This is a nice scent. I will say it point blank. This is the first perfume that my husband has ever noticed me wearing and I've been a BPAL-ER longer than I've been married. But I've given myself a year to for this scent and I to fall in love but alas I still hate it. This is the scent that made me realize that I do, despite what I previously thought, have a few VERY strong dislikes. I do not like The Lab's honey note. The Lab's spiced pumpkin note is ginger and cinnamon and I do not like it. Vanilla doesn't really suit me. In the Bottle: Cream, Vanilla and a hint of ground ginger. Almost like chai tea. Wet on the back of my hand: Nose tingling spice, what I'm assuming is the cream reminds me a bit of skin musk, a polite hit of vanilla sweetness not much throw. 15 min: Artifical vanilla and chai but lacking any sort of tea (which is the best part) medium throw Dry: Tiny bit of sugar and cream with just a little spice. This smells like a sister to Clown White Single Note but with spice instead of almond. Very close to the skin. Over all: This is the most well behaved it's ever been usually the vanilla can be smelled across the room leaving me in a choking cloud. Almost as if it knows it's on it's way to a new home. It's pleasent but for lack of a kinder word it's too boring to be on me or in my collection.

I've had this for a year and it still hasn't redeemed itself so I'm giving this a review before it goes off to its new home. After years of insomnia, I don't have good associations with lavender and was never very keen on it but I do like frankincense, cedar, and jasmine very much. In the bottle: LA VEN DER made extra gritty by the smoky aspect of the frankincense. Vaguely similar to Temple of dreams sans clove. In the bath: Not very strong even though I used pretty hot water and an entire capful. Still the same as the bottle the cedar and jasmine are totally hidden. After: Very soft but the same as the bottle and not a bit of cedar or jasmine Rubbed into the skin: NO FREAKING THANK YOU. Bottle smell amped to 1000. This is what my anxiety attacks smell like.

In the bottle this one smells like fresh cat pee, I have the same problem with Roses, Pearls, and Diamonds. One I get it on though it's a nice cool violet. I got this one because of the Violet Pastilles candies I used to eat when I was younger and because I was looking for a replacement for The Coil. No luck in the replacement department but it certainly smells like violets.

In the imp: MELON MELON MELON! I love it. Wet:A lot less melon maybe toadflax next to the skin but the throw is all melon. Dry: Much more than just melon there's the mint and the lime and a bit of the tea all playing together nicely. This is really pleasent after trying lighting and HATING it. Over all this is a very Mad Tea Party scent and it's delicious and not a hint of florals in sight! This is very good for people who want to smell girly but hate florals.

I'm not a huge fan of this scent. To me it's boring and very erhm vanilla. In the bottle: Sugared incense I used to love incense but now I'm more of a sharp fan. Wet: A sharp mess of chemicals and it gives me headache. Dry: It smells alot like eat me but a little less edible. THIS PERFUME LASTS FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER! I was very annoyed because I wanted to try some other scents out! It's nice enough but I'd rather wear eat me and avoid the incense all together. It's a very good perfume just not my thing.

The first sniff I got the same rotting milk smell but it was also strangely comforting......it's what babies smell like to me.........ew. BUT then I sniffed it a few more times and the rotting sent went away so I'm now going to try it because it's that clean aquatic smell everyone's been talking about. In the bottle: Fresh almost cleaning product fresh but my mother was a house cleaner so it doesn't bother me, and then the hint of milk that isn't quite enjoyable I'm pretty scared. Wet: No milk to be seen a bit of an aquatic floral nothing special but very nice I would wear this as a mother or a nurse. Dry: There is a bit of a coconut scent coming out and it's starting to smell a little like sunscreen. It's changing again.....now it smells like aquatics and cream just like it's supposed to.very nice and pretty I like it a lot. Much later: It's a bit sweet and hardly there at all close to my skin but I get hints of the aquatic every now and again. AND THERE IS THE WAX My skin turns anything pretty waxy so it smells like a very pretty scented candle, I hate it >.< but it's not intolerable just takes away from it a bit. I like this very much I think it's the most feminine scent I've tried and would be perfect for anyone who wants to smell pretty but isn't a big fan of florals.

This scent turned out like a story on me. My skin seems to love this scent and I'm so sorry for all the people who it didn't turn out fantastic on. In the bottle:Just like meeting an elf, cold distant. A cold pine scent not just pine but a deep pine, some other sent is lurking. Wet: Becoming friends and perhaps even lovers. The pine sweetens and smells like pine cough drops that you can get in stores, I find this smell very comforting. Dryish: Crushing red sweet berries under you while you make love on the forest floor. Warm berries the musk is starting to say hi. Dry: A golden hazy after glow very sweet and comforting. There's your beeswax and musk very familiar and warm. I say try this sent again until it's story unfolds for you, it's a very nice story.

I love this scent, it makes me feel like a threat. In the bottle: It smells like Osha Root cough syrup but a little better. Wet: It smells like spicy cedar and high end cologne, really nice very enjoyable. Dry: That metallic sent gets in the back of your nose when you smell it but it's also more metallic over all. There is also a hint of musk and soap and it burns a bit when I huff both wrists. I need more scents that make me feel this powerful, Djinn maybe? -
If actual food smelled this good it's very likely the doctors would stop telling me I needed to gain weight.

This is one of my favorite scents ever, how it goes from cold and clean to yummy flowers. I'm going to get as many bottles as I can I find it very relaxing. This is NOT floral though it smells more like fruit I can't even describe it because it's an amazing morphing experience. (this is my first review and I will add more later)
