  1. Honey

    Thirteen (13): March 2009

Imp: Oh yum! This is rich cocoa, sweet spices and maraschino cherry (almond)! Wet: The cocoa is a bit.. dusty and dry, could be a richer kind of chocolate. Has a very dry nutty (almond) note with a fruity cherry undertone. Dry: Dries down to something a bit.. yeah, smells a bit like paper, cocoa powder (dry) and almonds. Meh, I guess my skin soaks up the wrong parts!
  2. Honey

    Thirteen (13): February 2009

Imp: Spicy and a bit soapy! Wet: Smells like chocolate and.. salty lovage?! Rather savory. Dry: Despite the ginger and the chocolate, this smells rather salty to me. Salty and soapy. Sadly, not really my thing.
  3. Honey

    Lawn Gnome

Imp: Slightly sour-sweet, like freshly cut flowers. Just more.. sugary. Wet: Oh, yum! It's sweet berries and sugar splash! Lovely creamy vanilla.. oh, this is so good! I am not a fan of patchouli, but it is wonderful in this scent. It grounds the super sweet berry vanilla cream and adds a little.. earth, body and texture. So wish I had a bottle of this! Dry: Like super sweet berry ice cream that has melted away in the sun and dribbled down on an earthy patch in the garden. Yes, that is exactly what it smells like!

    Eos

Imp: Uagh - something between pickle and nail polish remover! Wet: Reminds me very much of The Death-Horse I think. Pickled flowers comes to my mind. Very sour and only slightly green. Dry: The acrid sharp alcoholic note disappears a little and white-green floral notes remain. It's OK but not my thing. ETA: This actually turns into a lovely jasmine scent on me! I really like jasmine a lot! Hmmm, normally not much for floral scents but this one is quite nice.
  5. Honey

    Ladon

Imp: Fruity, tart, slightly dusty/murky apple. Wet: This is like mashed Braeburn rubbed allover my skin. Dry: Still smells like yellow apple - not to sweet, not too green. Perfect for apple lovers I say!
  6. Honey

    Hony Mone

Imp: Uhm.. eww? This is a mixture of toilet bowl cleaner and nail polish remover! Faintest hint of honey, OK. Wet: Pure acetone! There is something nutty under the acrid acetone note that could be almonds and honey. But, really, this is horrible. Dry: Coconut nail polish remover or hairspray. One of the worst BPAL scents I have ever tried.
  7. Honey

    The Great Sword of War

Imp: Very-- fruity and soapy. I can smell mandarin, and there is tea and cocoa and the herbs. Wet: Hmmm.. I guess this is mainly mandarin and musk with something.. like.. cocoa or coconut in the background. Really citrus and nuts mainly. Reminds me of cake with orange cream filling. Dry: Still mainly citrus and musk. Definitely creamy and slightly herbal. Guess this will tone down a little after a while. It becomes muskier after a while, and the cocoa shows up as well. It is rather unisex I think. Sharp and spicy but not in a ginger/cinnamon kind of way. And, no, this is a nice citrus that does not smell like any detergent or cleaning product.
  8. Honey

    Paramatman

Imp: Very soapy-spicy. Orange blossom is dominant at my first sniff. Wet: Rather tart, mainly orange. Dry: Very dark, dry sandalwood and tart orange. Rather masculine I'd say, and a bit soapy too. The champaca reminds me very much of incense - and of an oriental men's cologne. Not for me really.
  9. Honey

    Machu Picchu

Imp: Oh, wow! Smells very fruity and exotic! I think what I get is banana and mango. Perhaps with some sweet floral notes. Wet: Sweet banana. Maybe a dash of coconut. It's very creamy. Dry: Slightly sour-sharp but mostly light, green and sweet. Still mainly banana and floral notes I think. The way I pictured Manila to smell, but this is way nicer! Has a sort of clean smell to it, like soapy cotton. I like it somewhat but it's not a fav. 2021 update: I'm retesting this (different imp than last time), and all I get is green melon flavored nail polish remover. ? It gets a bit more lush and floral during drydown, but it stays a bit sharp and unpleasant. I was wondering if ageing had done anything to the blend, but when looking at the label, it looks pretty new to me. I get a bit of a "banana bandaid" vibe coming through - where is the tropical jungle that everyone else is smelling? Give it! In the end, this is sour yet spicy lilies and orchids, unripe bananas and a faint green melon (or other) scent. Bah, no need to upgrade to a bottle I guess.
  10. Honey

    The Lady of Shalott

Imp: Light, aquatic, sour, spicy. Wet: Very green and turquoise blue. Water blossoms, clean and clear. Dry: Bit sour and green. Light and fresh, very cologne-like. Bit too sour and not sweet/spicy enough for my taste, though.
  11. Honey

    Blood Kiss

Lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss smeared with the vital throb of husky clove, swollen red cherries, but darkened with the vampiric sensuality of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light pulse of feral musk. Imp: Very dark, all vetiver. Maybe the faintest hint of something medicinal, like sour cherry or patchouli. Wet: Still all vetiver on me. The slightest hint of clove perhaps. And a musky sour red wine and cherries. Dry: A tiny bit creamy, yes, but mostly dark and spicy with lots of vetiver and clove. A cherry that is not too sweet but rather fruity and sour. Also very dusty and musky. So mainly clover after a while, no honey or vanilla to my nose.
  12. Honey

    No. 93 Engine

Wow, unexpected! Imp: Lemon, sage, honey and resins. This is very fruity and fragrant. Wet: Honey, lemon and sage. Reminds me of a mixture I drink in winter when I have a cold, when I mix hot lemon with sage tea and add some honey for my throat. Dry: Heavy on the honey and beeswax. Lovely with the balms and resins, very spicy. Best honey note from BPAL so far!
  13. Honey

    Intrigue

Imp: Dark, dry, murky and woodsy. Oak wood comes to my mind. Wet: Like.. black coconut, very dry, with oak wood and a hint of dusty cocoa powder. Dry: This is dry sandalwood and dried coconut meat on me. Not much cocoa or fig. This reminds me of Kathmandu and Shroud, but this scent is more.. greasy, likr actual greasepaint. Guess it's the palm oil. If I had to compare it to a scent it's macadamia butter from Body Shop. Or simply any cocoa and shea butter with a nutty undertone.
  14. Honey

    Black Lace

Testing from an empty bottle.. Bottle: Clean, crisp apples wrapped in smoke and earth. Light and fresh and dark and smokey at the same time. On skin: Like tobacco swirls that hit clean crisp green apples. Could be less heavy on the tobacco for my taste, though. Only slightly sweet but have a faint burned sugar sensation.. that's why I have to think of roasted apples or something. Hmm, how odd. Not unpleasant, but not what I expected. There is also a menthol undertone.. I guess that this with the apple note was used to create that clean linen scent. It's something else but it still reminds me of Samhain.
  15. Honey

    Plastic Pink Flamingo

Only able to "test" this from an empty bottle, but I will try. Bottle: This is just.. what pink marshmallows smell like! Very fruity like a berry mix, but overly sweet and creamy. Think vanilla cream with pink sugar hearts in it. On skin: Given I can only rub the leftovers from the mouth of the bottle on my wrist, this smells utterly delicious! Very.. fruity but bordering on sunny-flowery. Creamy, light.. something between pink and yellow orange I guess (think dandelion and the flamingo). I know this is way too girly for me, but I just love it. And it does not go bad on me like the Lab's sugar notes do.. so maybe I am safe with their marshmallow blends? Yay if that were true!
  16. Honey

    Obatala

Imp: Fresh and slightly sour coconut milk. Wet: Fresh, unsweet coconut and water that.. smells like distilled pine sap. Dry: A bit.. wooden, sweet, spicy but mostly fresh, sour and light. Definitely creamy shea butter.. but.. not for me really.
  17. Honey

    Seraphim

Imp: White and ethereal. White flowers, sandalwood and rose. Plus a delicious frankincense. Wet: Mainly rose and lily. Very white and a bit green and.. like a sweet, fresh, delicious flower shop. Dry: Sweet, a bit sharp and sour. I guess this is an amazing scent for those who love calla lily and rose. Not for me, but it blends well I think.
  18. Honey

Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream

Imp: Fruit, tea, ginger and coriander. Wet: Oh, yum! Sweet and fruity but mellowed down by the tea. A bit spicy due to the ginger and very soft and lovely due to the benzoin and vanilla. This is delicious and tropical! Dry: This is mainly ginger, fruity tea and soft vanilla on me. Lovely!
  19. Honey

    Glasya

Imp: Heavy sweet resins and roses. Myrrh, musk, civet, patchouli, all there! Wet: Very sweet, sticky and musty. You can smell all of the notes: myrrh, musk, civet, patchouli, dragon's blood. The roses, however, give it a very soapy appeal. Dry: Smells like a very heavy patchouli and roses soap. Not my thing, but might be just right for lovers of heavy scents.
  20. Honey

    A Howl In The Darkness

Imp: Ohh! Unexpected! Sweet pine, chilly mint and ozone. Wet: Smells like a very nice men's shaving gel (that I happen to use sometimes). Very masculine due to the pine, fresh and a bit sweet due to the verbena and juniper, but also revitalizing and uplifting due to the mint and the ozone. Dry: Still no musk. Pine, mint, ozone and citrus notes are dominant in this scent. Very nice on a man I think. Will keep this for mine.
  21. Honey

    Sleipnir

Imp: Nutty note with tart berries. Wet: Hazelnuts alright. Reminds me very much of the nutty pumpkin note of the Lab. Cannot detect any hay or carrots. Mostly nuts with a berry undertone. Dry: Nuts with sour berries. Reminds me of Pumpkin Queen due to the sharp citrus fruits mixed with nutty pumpkin and Pumpkin Patch 3 because of the pomegranate that are similar to the fruity tart berries in this scent. Smells sort of.. soapy, waxy and like a scented candle on the dry-down. I am a bit sad because I had hoped there would be more hay and carrot in Sleipnir. I have to agree this is all sweet grains on me - boo! I had expected something similar to Hellcat.
  22. Honey

    Ghoulish

Imp: Chocolate, maraschino cherries and amaretto. Very sweet and boozy. Wet: Boozy cherry and amaretto pralines with the faintest hint of coconut (but I guess you only smell it when you know it has to be there). Dry: Dries down to a boozy sweet chocolate smell. Very much like marzipan chocolate now. Fades rather quickly though. Alas, for this is a cherry scent I actually liked.
  23. Honey

    The Shadowy And The Sublime

Imp: Sour, stale, dusty and minty. Wet: Delicious! Soft, feminine, powdery, sweet. I detect ambergris and soft florals. Dry: Smells like a rosy perfumed facial cream or body lotion. Very faint and nice. The first rose scent that actually works on me! Maybe I should give white rose notes a try. I like the powderiness of this scent but it's still not quite my thing.
  24. Honey

    Undertow

Imp: Minty and a bit spicy. Wet: Minty, murky and clean. Very faint. Dry: Can barely detect it. All I get is mint and.. something else. Meh.
  25. Honey

    The Lion

Imp: Wow, strong cinnamon and/or cassia and amber. Strong! Wet: Cassia, amber, maybe some musk, frankincense and other spices and resins. Could also be some sweetgrass or hay in there. Nice. Dry: Sweet and soapy. Very heavy on the amber. Lovely!
