It smells like green peppers and something sweet almost floral but not quite. I get no booze, which I love and no smoke or leaves. I get funky green peppers and sweetness. Odd. It doesn't last long and turns to candle wax. *sigh*

This was one of the first scents I ever bought from BPAL and I never reviewed it. Well, I'm changing that! In the bottle: Defintite pine. Green. Almost a lemony pine. With a hint of resin. I dig green scents but this isn't quite what I was hoping for. On the skin: The resins dance a bit with the pine but turns sharp. I'm not liking where this is going. Sharp turns into BO on my skin. Dry down: It doesn't have much throw but that's okay. It doesn't make my skin happy. The cedar is there but isn't in the mood to play nice with me. I love each individual note but together it's not that wonderful. I love the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, but the Goblin Rider doesn't love me......

I was excited by all the notes in this belnd! I love a woody, spicy, green blend and this scent has it but.....some how it doesn't work for my skin chemistry. In the bottle: It's green and woody. I really like it. On my skin: It wants to turn to BO. It's right on the edge of spicy and stinky. UGH!!! Dry down: RIght before it fades away on my skin, the spiciness finally beats up the BO. But then, it's gone. This blend has great throw and lasts a while and maybe on the right skin the notes will play nice. But on me....sigh. I loved the artwork too. Off to the swaps.

I got this frimped from the lab! In the imp it smells like cherry. A black cherry with a hint of anise. On the skin the anise comes thru even more. And within minutes it smells like......root beer bottle caps! Wow. Root beer. It doesn't last a long time and that's okay. Once it fades it just smells like a sweet non-descript candy. I'm not a big fan of cherry but it was a fun scent that brought a blast from my past in the form of candy bottle caps.

The fear of Halloween. Menacing Haitian vetiver, patchouli, and clove with a shock of bourbon geranium, grim oakmoss, and dread-inspiring balsams pierce the innocuous scent of autumn leaves. In the bottle: I get the pipe tobacco too! A sweet tobacco. Very resinous. Wet: Not much morph. Tobacco. I LOVE me some clove and vetiver & I think they are grounding it a bit so it doesn't go really sharp, but it's the same as in the bottle for me. I'm getting a little boozy scent too. Not bubbly but thick and boozy, I guess it could be the bourbon & the patch. It's a different patch than I've smelled in other scents. It reminds me of another scent & I can't figure out which one! Dry down: It's starting to change a very little bit. I'm getting the sweet tobacco resin but it's becoming perfumy on me close to the skin. I'm getting a little of the dry leaves. Hummmmmm.......I'm not sure how I feel about this scent. I don't dislike it but I don't know if I love it. I'll try it on the hubby and see how it is on him.

Minamoto No Yorimitsu Cuts at the Earth Spider

In the bottle: Fresh scent! I really don't get any of the notes that are listed. But I like it. It's not that strong in the bottle either and it's herbal. ON skin: Very pretty. Almost floral but not quite. I get a faint whiff of vanilla but not much. Dry down: Not a huge throw and it fades quickly on my skin. My skin LOVES to eat fragrances. I did get a compliment from a client at work, telling me I smell nice. It's starting to fade and smell like wax. That's okay. I still really love it. -
In the imp; Spicy! A waft of Cinnamon is right one the money, but there's something else creeping in something herbal. Wet on Skin: It wants to go a little orange/clove on me, but it's muted. I LOVE orange/clove but something is pulling it back. Dry down: A little medicinal on me. Kinda like a band aid. Interesting scent. I wish the orange/clove was BRIGHT and SPICY, but it morphs to medicine. Oh well. I'm sure it will smell great on someone else.

In the imp: Strong citrus and musk and lilac. But it blends in a way that it smells like a bathroom freshener. Not digging it. Wet: Wow it's strong citrus and lilac mashed by the musk. It reminds me of an old lady perfume. Still, not digging it. Dry down: The lilac is very prominant on my skin, but it kinda has a burned plastic scent doing on. I get no lime. I like lime, but there's none to my nose. It's not a terrible scent, but not one I'll be using in the future. I'm glad I got to try it for namesake alone!

Opening the imp: A nice wet, woody scent. Actually, a POLISHED woody scent. As if you were to polish an old piece of furniture. On the skin: The dustiness comes out and the woods are blending with the dark musk. I like it. I get a hint of the tobacco. Dry down: Dusty wood with a base of candle wax. My skin turns black musk into wax. I really wanted to love this! My skin turns so many wonderful scents to wax. EDIT! After trying this scent many more times, I found I really love it, waxy or not. I think I'm addicted!

In the imp: is a floral, green herby scent. I'm not sure if I'm gonna dig it. Wet on skin: The sandalwood kinda rounds out everything. It grounds the herby scent so it's not too green. Sandalwood doesn't usually work on my skin, but it's nice in this scent. I like the myrrh. It gives it a tinge of spice. Dry down: The scent is kind of generic. I've smelled it before and I can't place where. It's a pleasant smell. It's not really strong on my skin, but it's still there if I press my nose to my wrist. It's a scent that is okay for me. I don't see me grabbing for it a lot. I am glad I got to try it.

I got this from Rawgirl (thank you!!!) because I read that this scent is very reminiscent of Red Phoenix, which I have come to enjoy. In the bottle: I can smell the spiciness that I love in Red Phoenix, but it's missing something....hummm....cinnamon is very subtle in Blood Moon. On the skin: The musks come out but so do the grains. Wow. The grains are very strong on my skin, not as spicy. I get some woodiness, but not as much as I'd like. Dry Down: It fades away very quickly on my skin. I SLATHERED myself in it and reapplied when I couldn't smell myself any longer. I do like it. I just wish it would last longer. Musks don't last long on my skin and it does stay very close to the body. I just can't get over the grains. Wow.

In the bottle: Nutty, creamy goodness with a hint of vetiver and labdanum. Yummm..... Wet on Skin: The vetiver comes out and dances with the nuts! (hysterial mental image) Dry down: Nutty, vetiver but tamed by the spiciness of the rum, which reminds me of Baron Samedi another favorite. This is a win for me since I love vetiver, and BPAL rum! Thanks Penance!

I've had this imp for a while and was turned off by the tabacco scent right off the bat, but I decided to give it a try when I was reading a post on boozy scents. In the imp: Sweet with an edge. You can smell the tobacco and something...clean. Hummm... On the skin: A little of the boozy scent comes out to play but not much. THe tobacco is still there but little else. Dry down: Candle wax. Why??? Why oh why???? Not what I was hoping for.....

This wasn't a morpher at all. It was the same in the imp as it was on my skin. Head shoppe. Now, I don't mind a good head shoppe scent, but this one was not for me at all. The carnation really is a deal breaker for me. It doesn't like my skin at all and turns really funky on me. I don't get any orange at all and I like orange. Oh well.

What GC scent is like Red Phoenix? Please, help a sista out!!! -
My husband EVENT HORIZON. He's on his second bottle. The funny thing is he's never worn cologne but since I started buying BPAL he's more interested in smelling nice.

I was excited to see more of my favorite VETIVER AND Apricot. I HAD to try it. In the imp: Vetiver and a hint of apricot. Nice and green from the vetiver. I get nothing else. On the skin: The sweetness pops out and the apricot says HELLO! I get no coconut or current or lemon sugar. Dry down: The vetiver goes away! Booooo......and what's left is a dry scent. Annnnnnd candle wax. Thank you skin. No throw at all. And th early stages of the scent doesn't last at all. "sniff, sniff." I'm still glad I got a bottle of this from a forum member!

In the imp: Cold. I think I can smell some ben gay. On the skin: Bengay with some thing earthy. Swap.
-
Very thick and amber in the imp. Sweet and resinous. I like it. On skin: I was hoping for more throw and more incense. Smells nice though. I don't get much pine at all. Which is good. Dry down: Very light smelling. Turns to candle wax on my skin. WHY???????

In the imp: Fir & pine & benzoin. Not loving it, but I'm giving it a try! On the skin: The juniper is there and not loving my skin. I do get some spice. But it's also headshoppy. I reapplied some and it's actually It's starting to turn sharp and sour. I don't like that at all. Dry down: Why am I getting a hint of pickles? Pickles and candle wax. Okay. Off to someone else who will love it and be loved by it.

I love the Phoenix scents. I was really looking forward to trying Red Phoenix since it evokes such a cool mental image! In the imp: I smell the tobacco and the benzoin. So far, not my thing, but I must push on. On the skin: The plum is coming out, with some red musk dancing in the background. I don't know what cassia smells like to be able to comment on it and I don't smell the mandarin, which is ashame because I love the orange scents. Dry down: All plum and spice. It's nice, but not what I was hoping for. I got my Mom hooked on the Phoenix scents, I bet she's love this one, since she's a BIG fan of Fire Phoenix! I'm so glad I got to try it!!!! Now, if I could get my hands on Blue & Blood Phoenix........ I have tried this again and I find the spice is VERY warm and inviting. I love it. Sometimes the PH in the skin does some weird reaction, but I do enjoy this scent. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

There is no doubt this is white floral. It's cala and rose straight up. It's pretty. But, I'm not a flower person at all. But I know someone who is and will give this bottle a wonderful home!

Devilish temptation, as sweet as sin: blood orange, neroli, and raspberry. Very interesting in the imp. Not really sweet, but something strange about it. Could be troll hair, or some scented eraser from back in the day. On skin: The blood orange is there but very subtly. I get a whiff of rasberry but nothing that yells FRUIT!!!! Which is nice. Dry down: Fades very fast. It's all very light and starting to turn into candle wax on my skin. Boooooo....... It's nice but not for me.

In the imp: WINE!!!! I LOVE IT! I want to drink it. Can you tell I like wine? On wet: Fruity and winey. I get the plums. No coffee. Dry: Spicy and winey and fruity. I'm really liking it! I may have to find a bottle.
