This was incredibly evocative in the bottle. I got sweet tobacco, plush velvet cushions, whiskey in your tea and strong sucking mints. An interesting combination of warm and cold, if that's the right way to put it. Love it. I also started to get Spearmint chewing gum. And of course, it hit my skin and turned into nothing but Spearmint chewing gum. Eventually the flowers starting peeking through, mostly dry rose. I amp any sort of rose like crazy, so for there was a fascinating (and not entirely unpleasant) war for dominance between mint and rose taking place on epidermis. Eventually, it just settled into rose, with hints of clean mint. On the bright side, this does appear to eventually calm down into a rose that I can wear without being COMPLETELY overpowering. But alas, it is not for me.
  2. Thank you all so much! It sounds like Smiling Spider is the way to go, though I'll keep my eyes open for samples of the others floating around. Y'all are veritable superheroes of scent.

In the imp: Rich, gorgeous, floral. Something elusive and familiar that I can't quite identify. Wet: Woah sage. It was really harsh on me, almost bitter. Much disappointment. Later: Fades nicely, eventually... Later: That's f'ing GORGEOUS. I loved the dry-down. The sage was still strong, but it mixed perfectly with sweeter undertones, so that it still had a wild element without being overpowering. Unlike a lot of people who have reviews, I don't think I got much sweet-pea at all. I did notice the jasmine, which is fine by me, because I don't know how I feel about sweet-pea yet but I love jasmine.
  4. Hello! I'm new around here, and I'm looking for a recommendation. One of my mom's favorite scents is that of the clove cigarettes she smoked when she was young and wild ("But you should never smoke those! They're so bad for you!"). I would love to get her a perfume that reminds her of clove cigarettes, but there's a catch: she can't STAND sweet smells. Nothing too floral or fruity. She didn't wear perfumes at all for ages, because so many scents smelled too sweet to her, but she recently started wearing Jo Malone. I've been looking through clove scents. Heitairae caught my eye, but I'm nervous about the sweet fig. Sooo....help!

I wanted so very badly to love this scent. So much did I want to love this scent that I gave it several tries, in various stages of body chemistry and what not, just in case something had thrown it off. In the imp, I got grass, almost too sharp, with only a slight hint of florals. Not great, but definitely worth trying. Alas, it hits my skin and turns into soap. Not even elegant, expensive soap, just dishwashing soap. Drat.
