Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?

Mine: Thalia Dirty Silver phoenix Water of notre dame blood rose snow white ....Snow Glass Apples... But only if its a special day! -
I got so many scents for Christmas I didn't know which one to wear. So I went with Snow White on one hand and Candy Corn Coated Apple on the other. So much win.

Lab fresh frimp. Wet, It's Lily but fresh green lily, not soapy lily. As it drys down slowly it becomes less pungent but is a true lily. Not soapy lily. I do like lilys and i can very much imagine a bunch of open green and yellow lillies in a vase, their pollen bright orange red. Further drydown the scent gets a little darker. I can't smell the real lily any more but it's still not soapy (woo!). However I'm not sure it's something I will wear. Nice though. 2.75 out of 5 from me.

Just yum. Totally sweet marshmallow smelling creamy goodness with a tiny spicy background on me. It starts off quite cloying but eases off to sugar sweet mallow like smell with the freshness of cotton. Turns from sweet and yummy in the bottle to a sweet but almost cakey smell; like delicate white frosting on a cupcake. It seems to be constantly changing, now I smell caramel! God I love this. 4.5 out of 5 (would be 5 but so early into my bpal testing I don't want to set the bar too high!)

Pine comes straight though. I've just put my christmas tree out and it smells like its back in! Lingering on Rosemary, bay and pine, smells almost menthol. Drying down slightly it's a definate shade of green. Can't seem to get rid of the pine. Smells a bit like pine disinfectant. Masculine. Was a frimp, and it's not bad but it's not me. Swap Pile it is. 1.5 out of 5

Imp: Cake. Lots of cakes. Yum. Wet: Vanilla Cake, dispersing fast. Deep vanilla cakes. Not getting any fruit yet. drydown: Vanilla, I don't get much else from this. I'm not complaining, I like vanilla. I just wish the fruit came out for me as I love fruit. 3 out of 5 From me. I like and may contemplate a bottle and will keep the imp to see if it morphs for me.

Imp: A red apple that has been sitting half eaten on the side for half an hour. I think it may be the other notes that gives it the sort of "brown" smell. Wet on: Apple fades to the back slowly. Leaving the opium and hemlock to play. I cant pick which one is more pungent. Drydown it gets lighter and less pungent morphs on me to a kind of sweet but misterious scent. Thoughts: In a nut shell its a 3 out of 5 a "so-so" The apple goes fast and is not as sweet as i'd like it to be but the smell later isnt awful. But it is a fast fader.

It was so promising in the imp. Cherries and sweetness with a back of wood. However on my skin the Cherry faded almost instantly. All I got was deep wood. No cherry or currants and all sweetness faded. Swap Pile it is. I knew the wood would kill it, but I was so hopeful from the imp!

In the imp: Light floral with a tiny bit of tea. Wet: Still- Floral with a slight hint of tea. Drydown: Its kinda hard to smell. It is there, but its so delicate that it comes in wisps. Definately Peony. It's nice and delicate and would be perfect for springtime. Not a lot of throw so I may need to slather it on a bit more next time. I'll keep the imp and see how it ages. Ooh wait, now it's been left for a bit I can definately smell tea and the scent has got stronger. I do like it. At the minute it's a 3.75 out of 5. A like, not Love.

Finally getting round to reviewing this one after discovering Blood Rose. Imp: Sweet Almond Marzipany goodness. with a hint of rose. Wet on: Marzipan when first put on. Which slowly fades. Dry down: Rose. Rose. Rose. Just a lot of rose and nothing much else on me! Rose seems to amp out on me. But the sandalwood is there way in the background. Almond has really disappeared. In the imp its nice but on the rose is too much. Swap pile methinks.

In the imp: It smells very similar to the bottle of Strawberry Liqueur I have in the kitchen. Wet: Smells yum. The rose comes out delicately, but doesn't over power like some other floral blends. It's defianately a deep red rose. Drydown: I think the dragons blood or wine stops the rose from going to talc on me. It's quite sumptuous, delicately sexy. Something kind of cherry sweet like, I really quite like this. I honestly wasn't expecting to after the last rose blend I tried. Will keep the imp to try again and may get ottle if one pops up.

... An incense blend that invokes the higher qualities of mercy and compassion, mingled with the soft, sugared currant scent of offertory soul cakes. 2007 version: Bottle: Cakey and intoxicatingly sickly. Wet: Evens itself out a bit when applied and isn't such a full whack of cake but smells more like cake. Drydown: Once the cake has faded the currants and incense take over. Its nice but the incense that is left does not suit me, it would be nice as a room fragrance maybe. Will give it another try but I think it may get put in my swap pile. Eta description for new page. Second edit: Having tried it again and applying more liberally it smells more creamy vanilla to me than I described before. I think its a 3.5 out of 5 - as its a 5ml i'll be keeping it as my collection is low at the minute.

Was a frimp with an ebay purchase. Imp: Some sort Alcoholic honey mead! Wet: Alcohol Wine Smell fades and takes the honey with it. Drydown: Slightly floral but fades fast leaving a sort of dried leaf smell. Not horrible "blegh" smell but not all that nice. Within 15 minutes it turns to baby powder smell with a sort of mossy undertone. Not nice on me. Swap pile methinks!

I got a frimp decant of 2005 from an ebay purchase. Imp: Like opening a bag of muscovado sugar or a new tin of treacle. Sweet but slathered with a sort of gingerbread smell. Wet: Sugar! But more caramelised. Reminds me so much of unbaked christmas cake resting filled with spices and dried fruit. Drydown: I want to lick my wrist (I wont!) It dries down on the skin the same as it is wet which is nice. I like it. From the imp I wasn't sure. I didn't think i'd like something this deep. I'm usually more a sweet and light. Perfect for christmas time and the winter months. Makes me feel very christmassy. In essence; it's not me but I like it. One for late winter christmas evenings. Will keep the frimp decant.

Imp: Rose, Lily of the valley, a hint of musk and maybe a mingle of pear. Kinda smells like air freshner in the imp! ...but a nice one. Wet: Sweet Lily, a little rose. Drydown: Kinda turns to baby powder on me. It's nice but it kind of makes my nose tingle like i'm going to sneeze. Fades fast on me. No more than half an hour and its barely sniffable. I slathered quite a bit on too. It wasn't on my try list so i'm not really bothered. I really wish I got the pear and rose though, but the lotv just wouldn't quit.
