This is so good! I don't do "foody" scents and I'm seriously contemplating whether I need at least a partial bottle of this. fruity without being able to name that fruit, cardamom injects that warmth and soft spice, and creampuff. It is what it says it is. Very balanced. Not too sweet. Not too "foodie". Yet still sweet and delicious-smelling. The mystery fruit maintains being the top note, but it's so well supported, it's like really juicy fresh fruit plopped on top of that creampuff

Oooooooh. I am so happy this works for me. if you normally think DBR is a bit too sweet or whatever, don't let that scare you off here. It is actually leathery DBR without being one of the Lab's "leather" notes (most of which I adore). And the acid, ozone, and smoke are amazingly wearable. It's surprisingly light with a medium throw. I need multiple bottles stat.

sour almost-oud scent that I think is the red musk, some clove that's quickly overpowered, maaaaybe something a little floral, but I had to try washing it off within a few minutes....and I can still smell it hours later (just not as strong thankfully). Interestingly, at this point hours later, the red musk actually smells nice, though there's still a hint of something sour.

I had to look up copaiba balsam (Sweet, almost honeyed, balsamic, peppery) and hornbeam is a type of tree that goes by other names This goes on fresh and green, with copaiba balsam giving it a woody spice, a little soil if I sniff carefully enough. As it dries, it settles to more soil and grass, but neither very heavy. OVer a few hours it goes from med to low throw, and gets more balsam-spice, and possibly amber, but I'm not as sure on that note. It's a nice, neutral scent that I think I'll try later in a scent locket I did not get any florals (spring blossoms), which I'm not complaining about.

tested on my skin immediately super strong throw, but settles in a minute (test first lol) oudh very dominant. So dominant I don't smell anything else. maaaaybe some sweet ale glad I just tested a tiny bit

I know it's a beard oil, but I had to get a decant to try on my skin because, just look at those notes. on my skin it's an incredibly low throw. My skin just eats it up. but it's also a low throw in the decant... I do get a lovely parchment note as the dominant note and sometimes I get a hint of something else (frankincense or leather, not at the same time)....gets a touch more leathery over time It seems like a good scent for nuzzling if someone's wearing on their beard...but otherwise might not be noticeable...I have to put nose to wrist to even try to smell it, but it smells good

I'm so glad it worked for bheansidhe! I on the other hand am a leather fiend. I have a lot of bpal leather perfumes in my regular arsenal, but not all the lab's leathers work for me (sometimes the leather, sometimes the other notes). This is immediately medicinal. As it dries, it gets more resinous and sour. And herby dust? No leather (unless that's part of the sour note I'm smelling, which sometimes happens)

I get foodie chestnut first (I would even be tempted to say meaty chestnut), then the cherry is pretty quick to come out and take over. It's a good, solid cherry. The sugary sweetness plays well with it. In the end, I'd say it's not 100% cherry though, so my guess is that the labdanum (veeery slightly warm and musky) is backing it If you like cherry, and you want it to be cherry cherry (not maraschino, not black cherry), then try this one

lavender and tangy (not sure what the tang is), pretty strong throw. Turns to a medical ointment/bandage smell after a couple hours - i'm going to assume that's just a weird on my body chemistry, but mentioning it all the same

If you liked Congealed Blood and Oozing Viscera then you might want to try this. Like that one, the bandages note is surprisingly strong I think there's a cedar note, but then there's a sharp, clean tang to it...but it's not quite steel, but it could be the mix of metal and floral lather and water, but it's all under the bandages. and somehow it comes across as almost cinnamon-bandages? weird

Samurai on a Bridge Battling a Ghost While Making Love to a Woman
Roogna replied to Jenjin's topic in Lupercalia
surprisingly sweet at first, a creamy incense-y kind of sweet. (chypre and champaca?). It's overall light with a low throw. It shifts to more steel, There may be leather if I sniff carefully and maybe the saffron or cinnamon, but the oud nudges in with just a hint of woodsy poop (not the full on stink it can sometimes have) making it hard to tell- 3 replies

A Winter’s Scene with Skaters Near a Castle

I like most of the Lab's leather scents, and I like stroopwaffles, but the lab's dead leaves note is never good on me. So I took a chance. In the decant it's rather ... soapy? wet on skin: dead leaves mix with the sweetness and not in a good way as it's drying I get a hint of icy slush and boot leather ... before the whole thing goes a bit medicinal with a faint spicy sweetness like potpourri dry, during/after a couple hours - mostly stroopwaffle! and yet not too "foodie", but there's still a strong mix of leaves and whatever is the medicinal aspect that make it a "no" for me like DD, I'd love to see stroopwaffle in another scent or a single note too- 4 replies

I normally can't wear the "dead leaves" anything from bpal, as they are so strong and headache inducing with my skin chemistry. I try them on occasion, usually when there's leather (a fav) involved, just in case, hence my trying this one. leaves first (no surprise there), and they hang around, but surprisingly they aren't as strong as normal. I do get some leather for a little bit, but it's short-lived and not that strong (hard to place what kind it is - maybe brown- but it was nice and not sour). The bergamot (earl gray) is lovely! Especially hours later, I get bergamot with some leaves. All I did was put a testable bit from my decant on my wrist, and I've been able to smell it the scent for hours. I know it goes on stronger as leaves, but this Earl Gray is so perfect I'm going to do a full try on another day. I'll update this when I do.

Leather is strongest in the decant. I do get the leather on my skin, which is nice, though leans a bit chemical, but I'd say most of the chemical aspect is from the ozone. The musk/fougere is the strongest note; it's hard to tell where one stops and the other begins. The leather only noticeable when I sniff closely. As a leather-note lover I'm glad I tried it, but it's not a keeper

spicy, cinnamon? Ginger? Hint of banana underneath. The spice dies down and takes most of the throw with it. maybe a hint of banana left? I barely got any banana, if at all. And I didn't get "gingerbread". It was a heavily spiced foodie spice thing. it was short-lived too, but strong while it lasted.

All I did was crack the imp open. I didn't even remove the lid. POW! Cinnamon. I like cinnamon, Chimera is my favorite GC scent, and I am legitimately scared of trying this it's so strong. It's a mix of cinnamon sticks and candy cinnamon and just pure cinnamon essence. I pull the lid out and sniff closer. Cinnamon, bandages ... old wounds? For real? puts a tiny, tiny bit on my arm: the cinnamon remains the strongest note, like a cloud around me, and I think I'm stuck smelling like cinnamon forever now. interestingly, if I smell my arm closely I get medical gauze. wild. *update - after an hour or two the cinnamon backs off drastically and the throw drops. The gauze seems cleaner too

the pear is strong with this one. But it's also canned and syrupy. (fresh pears simply don't smell the same as canned). If i sniff my wrist directly I do get honey. Like actual honey smell. but, wow, this is a STRONG throw. Just a little on my wrist is too much this one is for those who truly wish to smell of pear doomsday_disco --- well, that is a memorable review 🤣

I got both the Thanksgiving special imp and the Yule, which Ted confirmed were different scents. And boy, are they ever different! Thanksgiving Gift: in the imp -wow! really yummy pie crust (way better than the yule one and way more recognizable), some lavender with it wet and dry on skin - lavender with cream and a touch of something plastic-y /sunscreen-y, very light and not foodie (no crust on my skin) after an hour or so - more creamy coconut! Yule: in the imp, pie crust and something astringent wet on skin almost cashmere? a sense of heaviness, almost sunscreen-y or platic-y, and...coconut? Maybe, maybe the barest hint of lavender underneath dry - definitely cashmere (warm and musky). weird. and a more noticeable occasional hint of lavender *I'm adding thoughts on both to both threads

at first - blueberry! And the crust with some little spice (not graham cracker, not cinnamon). Not overly foodie. Becomes heavily more cheesecake after an hour or so and loses other notes

1000% percent this is Pina Colada. maybe with a tonka grounding note. No leather to speak of *edit. I let it sit for a few days then tried it again. Definitely still pina colada, but a nice one without too much alcohol, there's a real nice tonka "spice" to it for sure and almost a touch of candy sweetness and occasional caramel. And yet, it's not "foodie" I really love this! (and I didn't care for the GC Perversion)
