Scents for Depression - when you're down and need a boost
venusinfurs replied to aurore's topic in Recommendations
Bastet seems to be soothing to me, while simultaneously boosting my confidence by making me feel really sexy at the same time. Paris and Amsterdam are both very relaxing to me. Bon Vivant and Jailbait are uplifting, if I'm in the mood to wear super sweet scents! Anything with mint seems to energize me a lot, as others have said. I got a hold of some Frost Moon, and it's lovely, but there's also a whole thread on mint linked to in a sticky. I like Spooky too! I hope you feel better soon! -
BPAL blends that remind us of Chanel perfumes
venusinfurs replied to Rocky_Mountain_Home's topic in Recommendations
Two of my friends have birthdays coming up, and I really want to get them some BPAL oils. One of them likes spicy orientals and vanilla like me, so she shouldn't be a problem. The other friend is more difficult. The ONLY perfume she wears is Chance by Chanel. She also likes the smell of Frederic Fekkai shampoo, and when I smelled it I got a distinct earthy/woodsy smell. The soap in her house is usually Japanese Cherry Blossom. She's extremely girly, but we often frequent the new age stores and smell the oils there. I think she would like a woodsy or earthy floral, maybe a light floral with a hint of woods or patchouli. I don't ever wear scents like that, so a recommendation would be great. I looked up Chance's notes, and here's what most of the websites said: Hyacinth and White Musk and Pink Pepper. Middle notes are Fresh Vetiver and Iris and the base notes are Amber and Patchouli. I definitely never got an amber scent when smelling it on her, but the others I may have been able to pick out. -
Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

I'm kind of new, but I got a ton of scents this month that I've been trying, and I found that Whip, Blood Countess, and Bastet are amazingly sexy on me. I don't even like rose (in whip) and I was NOT expecting Blood Countess to be remotely sexy. I bought Snake Oil, O, and a few other popular "sexy" scents, and they just smelled kind of warm and comforting on me. I REALLY want to try Liz. I think BPAL's leather note really makes a scent scream sex, especially when paired with more feminine notes I am definitely going to look at the "leather" recommendations thread! -
Winter smells and scents, including the perfect winter forest

so many good suggestions. now I want them all! I'm ok with mint, but I don't want to smell like a candy cane. If it's subtle or just adds to the "cool" feeling it should be fine. -

Thanks...I just kind of needed to be pointed in the right direction. I like spicy scents like Morocco, Snake Oil, and Bastet, but I was just looking for something a bit different than the usual holiday cinnamon/spice scents. I got some Jolasveinar and Snow Storm from ebay, and I had tried an imp of Black Forest, and while they are ok, I would prefer something without that "trees" and "christmas" smell. Snow-Flakes, Archangel Winter, and Macabray sound very promising, and I will read the reviews of the others as well. Thank you so much! -

I'm looking for a cold, icy scent that doesn't have any "pine" or "holiday" notes to it. I got a bunch of the scents named in the Winter recommendations thread on ebay. I liked some of them, but none of them were really what I am looking for. Anything that smells like juniper or pine is way too masculine on me. I guess I want something that smells like something the White Witch (from the Chronicles of Narnia) would wear. Icy, heartless, but not masculine. I guess a floral, earthy, clean, or even somewhat sweet scent could work. Nothing reminiscent of food, christmas, cider, or trees, though, which is what I got from the 12 or so scents I sampled. I keep looking through the reviews but I just can't pinpoint anything, so I thought I'd ask you all -
Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Hmmm...I tried Idole one day at a duty free store in the airport so I'm familiar with it's vibe. It wasn't a really strong rose (more like a tea rose and quite "white" smelling on me. Honestly I didn't get any fruit from it and I think the fruity & jasmine BPALs would be really far away from it. It's more like a dry rose scent. Perhaps you should try London or Rose Moon and go from there. Thanks! you're right, it is quite "white" smelling. I'll check out those two and keep searching the reviews/descriptions and see what I can come up with. It smelled "peachy" to me at first on my skin, but not when I sprayed it on my clothes. When it dried it was more of a light floral with a different kind of herb/spiciness to it. -
Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

While at the mall yesterday, I really loved a different kind of perfume than I normally wear. I usually wear vanilla, amber, or musk based spicy scents, but I tried "Idole d'Armani" and now I can't stop smelling myself. I'm going to buy a bottle of it, but I'm surprised that my nose actually liked a perfume with rose, jasmine, saffron, patchouli, AND vetvier! It's a bit fruity at first but that really fades fast. I usually don't like any of the scents in the description, or at least so I thought. I want to branch out next time I order imps and include some scents that are similar! Here is the description: Idole d' Armani begins with notes of bright orange, pear and ginger and then blossoms into pretty rose and jasmine notes blended with unexpected and mysterious saffron, and finishes with a warm patchouli and vetiver base. I tried the BPAL site but there are so many oils with rose and jasmine (patchouli and vetvier too). Any suggestions of something that might smell similar?
