I also have a best friend who is a dog, and I really was touched by this sentiment and wanted to love the scent...Unfortunately I just can't get with it. The musk is nice and I am a musk fan, so that was fine...but at first there is a really strange sharpness that maybe is "grass" that some other folks are reporting. It smells EXACTLY like this perfume my mother used to wear...My sister has the bottle. It's round and blue with 2 snakes intertwining but no name on the bottle at all...Pretty cool, but it really is a strange smell. Anyway, this lingers for some time and then fades off to a pretty generic musk smell with a tiny hint of florals in the background. I dunno, I guess I could take it or leave it but I probably won't be using it much, so it's off to the swaps pile.

I just got a bottle of SC res, and, honestly it reminds me a lot of The Witch Queen. It's because the one note my skin amps more than any other is plum. I'm not a big fruit scent person, so I'm kind of iffy on this. Since the scent was so faint when I first tried it I think I put too much on, cuz now all I can smell is really sweet plum and incense, which is just what TWQ did on me as well. Not too sure if this is for me...I was so sure it would behave!

I'm a sucker for a musk blend, but I'm starting to realize there may be more to life than musk... I like this one, but it is also quite similar to many other musk blends I have and love. It is a nice powdery musk and the spice keeps it from going to a baby powder sort of powder on me. It's kind of fruity somehow which may be from the almond blossom...Kind of sweet. I think this is nice, but I don't know that I need another 5ml of musk-based perfume. I think I need to broaden my horizons...

At first, I was afraid this was going to be too much for me and probably never would have tried it except I got a tester as a frimp in a swap a bit ago and finally got to it this morning. Wet, it definitely scared me. I'm not into booze notes and was alarmed that this smelled so much like cologne. It also was a lot stronger than I was prepared for. I work with kids so I usually try to wear scents that are lighter or at least stay closer to the skin. I prefer this outside of work as well so I was pretty unsure how it would pan out. On the way to work I was sure I was going to ne washing it off as soon as I got there, but now that it's had time to dry down a bit I'm sill finding it pretty strong, bit it has calmed down enough that it does not offend. The cognac is less prominent and I'm getting more of the vanilla and tobacco and musk. I think I like this but ill have to be careful not to overdo it!

At first I wasn't sure about this one because I got a bit of citrus that I didn't really appreciate. But now that it's dried, I think i kind of like it!! I'm a musk fan and I really like scents that stay close to the skin, so this one is nice! I think I need to test it again and see what happens, but there is definite promise here!!

I got this as a frimp in a swap, it has been on my list and I am so happy to be able to finally try it!! It's pretty floral, but I can still smell the musk and incense smoke and a wee bit of plum to make it a little sweet, but not cloying. I really like that this isn't going powdery on me at all and it's such a light scent which was surprising because of some of the components. I think I really like this one!!

I just got this in a swap. Coming from a place that get a lot of snow and has piles of it right now, I do agree that this does encompass the "smell" of snow but also the "feeling" of it as well. I'm getting a sweet, barely floral, light scent at first. Somehow it grows A LOT stronger quickly and dries to a creamy floral scent with a lot of throw. It took a while (like HOURS) for it to dry down to something tolerable for me. I do think it's lovely, but I prefer scents that stay close to the skin. It also reminds me somewhat of Villainess Retrograde perfume now that it's dried down and calmed down. I can get to this point faster with retrograde, so I think Snow White will be making her way to a new home.

WHOA! This is WILD! Okay, so in the bottle it really does smell woody. Barely piney, but I agree with other folks that it's a pulpy smell for sure. I put it on and it's really strong. It kind of made my stomach seize up, not in a nauseous way, but it was just a lot to handle at first. Definitely green wood at first, but the vanilla was also present. Once the wood calmed down, the vanilla comes forward...it's definitely not the kind of vanilla I usually think of when I imagine what it smells like, but its definitely VANILLA! Mixed with the wood it certainly does remind me of old books, which is one of my favorite smells. I love that it's sweet, but not foody. I think I am getting a slight hint of leather, but it's hard to tell now that everything is blending so nicely. I think I will wear this one in the warmer months because it is a stronger smell, but I don't think it's too heavy. At first I wasn't sure it would be a scent I'd wear too regularly, but the more it settles down, it really is quite charming. I think it will become a favorite of mine for sure!

Just got this in a swap and was unsure how it would go as I'm very particular about the florals I like. Alas, this is the second jasmine blend that has worked nicely, so I think I may have to add that flower to my short list of florals I like It is kind of incensy, which I imagine is from the opium. This is the first opium blend I have tried, I think. Its kind of powdery if I sniff my arm up close, but the wafts I get are sweet, musky and lovely. I need to put on a bit more and see how it is, but so far I think I like this one. I also have always kind of loved the look/smell of fresh magnolia flowers, but never used a perfume with them in it before. Yeah, this one is good!! ETA: noooo, an hour after I wrote this review something awful happened! All the nice floral sent away and all that was left was powdery wood and patchouli! Whyyyyyyyyyy! I had to wash it off, it was really horrible. Too bad, swaps it is.

It seems like a lot of people like this one so I thought I'd try it. I agree that this smells like honeyed almonds in the imp. When I put it on, again I agree that this smells like milk & honey oatmeal. It's a but too sweet for me, but it is a nice scent and I can see why this seems to be a popular one. Anyway, into the swaps it goes.

Ummm, ok. So I guess I'm the only person on the planet who was repulsed by this. All signs said I would like it, but I got an aged imo of it in a swap and...No. just...No. When I put it on, it smelled just like sour pickles. After too long, that faded. But I was unimpressed by the drydown. I got a bit of leather which was ok, but I'm not gonna waste anymore of this on myself when so many other people seem to love it. Swaperoo!

I rejected this one at first, but decided to give it a try... I don't get the coffee that a lot of folks are reporting...At first it smells like musk and generic floral, dare I say "old lady", perfume. Not so good... After a bit it dries down to a soft powdery vanillaish jasminey scent that is nice, but there's something sour underneath that isn't too nice. I really wish I was getting more rose... This one is just "ok" and will remain in the swap box unless something amazing occurs soon here with it.
-
I'm not really a floral person, but rose is one of the 2 or 3 florals I like. Rose has been a longtime favorite of mine since I was a teenager. I really love this one. It's such a deep, pure scent. Although I don't wear rose often, I love how it smells and this one has staying power and only needs a little bit. So glad I got a bottle of this and I hope it comes back next year. It's beautiful!

I tried this last night...I've quickly come to realize that I like foodier scents more in oil burners than perfumes. I tried a small test on my hand and it is a nice, warm slightly spicy but sweet scent. After a while the spice comes out more and so does the caramel. It does have a lot of throw and is still slightly detectable today after showering and sleep. Unfortunately, this combo isn't quite right for me, so I think its destined for the swap box.

Oh man, I love this!! I was expecting this to be somewhat like Ashlultum since they share some similar notes, but this is much different although very beautiful! at first, there's something very sharp there...Almost lemony, but I can't quite get what it is...It quickly fades into a beautiful tea, sort of woodsy scent and I can detect a bit of musk. I'm getting the barest bit of lilac and..vanilla?? could it be? I'm not quite sure what the sweetness is, but its so nice! I do agree this could be unisex, although my husband better keep his hands off this bottle cuz it's ALL MINE!!

I got an imp of this in a swap, I think. It had an old label so it is very clearly aged. I haven't tried a more recent blend of this, so I'm not sure how it differs. Anyway, it is very strong in the hazlenut dept to me. I do like hazlenut (very strange, but my dog smells like it...I dunno, weird!!!) so that pleased me, but the issue is that I could not imagine putting this on my skin. So, I put it in my oil burner instead and that is certainly the best way for me to enjoy this one. Our bedroom is small, so it really filled the air quite nicely and was a nice contrast to the horrific cold that we have been experiencing in Minnesota!! I'm not sure that I would necessarily buy or use this one too often as I'm not much into the foodier scents as I thought I might be, but it certainly did make my home smell sweet, warm, and lovely even after it had burned off.

I tried this one a few days ago after ordering a bottle of this for my husband. The description sounded nice and I was curious... Well, I do like it quite a bit, but on me...something just isn't right about it. It's hard to put my finger one exactly what bothered me about this one, but I certainly do prefer it on my husband much more. It was pretty lovely, really. I liked the way the vanilla came through, but again, something about it just didn't sit right. Glad at least the husband will wear it!!

So, I was a little apprehensive to try this one, but I really loved the description and decided to give it a shot. Normally I am not a fan of citrus at all, but after it's initially debut, the lime lightens up A LOT and lets the jasmine really sing. While I am also, normally, VERY particular about the few florals I will tolerate, the way the jasmine mixes with the other notes makes it very apparent but not cloying. I put this on close to bed time (I do this with some scents I am "iffy" about so I don't have to deal with them all day long if they don't work out) and in the morning the scent was much fainter- naturally- but had taken on a sort of creamy vanilla-ish floral sort of scent that was really quite pleasant. I have now procured 2 bottles of this, which I am feeling kind of silly about since I'm not *THAT* in love with it (although it has pleasantly surprised me!), but I could definitely see myself wearing it in the warmer months when the muskier scents I like would be too heavy. Although< i don't see myself getting that much into citrus or fruity scents in the future- I think of this as more of a happy accident!

I just got this from another forum member. As with many BPALs, WerePuppy was not what I was expecting. I definitely had thought/hoped it would be a sweeter musk, like Ivanushka, but I think I'm gonna give it another shot. At first I am definitely getting the spicyness that some people are reporting, but in the end it is definitely, as teamilk said, very burt's bees-y. It smells like their baby bee dusting powder. I don't mind a powdery scent and I think I could grow to like this one, although it probably isn't something I would wear all the time. ETA: I reapplied a bit to see what would happen, and I am definitely getting more of the underlying musk this time. Still spicy on top, with the "baby" smell, but the beloved musk (I cannot live without it!) IS there and definitely influences my feelings for this scent very strongly. I'm into it.

I got a decant of this to try, and was fully expecting to be completely illed out by the pine pitch. Fortunately and to my surprise, that part wore off quickly. I actually really like the way it dries down. Kind of sweet, kind of dirty, but none of the notes overpower it. They all just kind of work together in a way that is really lovely and definitely not what I was expecting at all. I don't think I would buy a bottle, but I am certainly happy to have a small amount of this!

Like the cocoa note in Black Temple Burlesque Troupe, at first its really overwhelming and slightly unpleasant, but dries down to a beautiful powdery scent that is AMAZING! once it settles, I get a spicy, smooth scent that isn't too heavy. I love it!

At first I was worried because I really didn't like the way this smelled in the bottle or on me. After a short time, it did go powdery as musks onften do on me, but now it has settled in to a rich, deep, smooth scent that I know will be one in heavy rotation. I'm usually not good at picking out notes, but all of them are present in this one and now for a beautiful deep scent. Now, to find another bottle...

After living in a hurricane-prone region for a couple years, I totally get this. It's difficult to describe, but to me it smells watery, but dirty. I'm getting a strange, somewhat mentally smell beneath. Not my thing, but I totally get it. Neat!
-
Oh god. Oh no. No. I hate the smell of pine and, although not in the description, that is the overwhelming scent I'm getting. Eucalyptus, is that you? Either way, it's unbearable. No thank you .

In the vial, this is definitely WOOD! not something I would normally try but it came with a recent bpal order. On me, it's very woody and musky. I agree that it does smell somewhat of varnish on me, too. Once It dries, it's ok, but not for me.
