LEATHER. Leather and metal, like a leather jacket with spikes and chains. *off to the sink to scrub this off*

The Underbed proto really does smell like moist, crumbly coffee cake! It's heavy on butter instead of coconut, beautifully spiced but not as heavy on the cassia, and no cocoa at all...maybe white chocolate. There is a fleeting mintiness as well. I prefer the released version with cocoa and coconut, but this is still yummy.

Chaos Theory VI: Recursive Self-Similarity v7
Gold Dust Kitten replied to Kitrona's topic in Limited Editions
#543. This little bottle has been around! I received this via swap from The_Witching_Hour who described it as "Boozy Tahitian Vanilla". I have to agree with all the above. It's a strong, boozy Tahitian vanilla with a zing. Unisex. It was very hard to tell what's in here. First, I got licorice which morphed into something like oak then sarsaparilla. When it's dry, it's a dry boozy vanilla with sarsaparilla and wafts of something herbal (lemongrass?) and sometimes woody (oak?). Mostly it's just making me crave a root beer float. -
This was terrible on me. Way too sharp and strong. I was expecting it to work since patchouli and red musk work so well in Mme Moriarty. I don't think they even compare. This has orchid and balsam which are clashing with everything else.

This smelled chocolatey in the imp for some strange reason. At first I could pick out the honey, cognac and geranium but then it turned into a mess. I don't think tuberose and patchouli play well together.

I've recently discovered that I just don't care for plum scents. Bathsheba would be lovely with the carnation and Arabian musk solo, because plum turns grapey on me.

Yes, definitely Velvet Tiki.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

CC: Female was available for purchase up until just recently... I never got around to trying it when I had the chance. -
Obatala Milk, coconut meat, shea butter and cool, refreshing water. It's lovely layered with Pele. So far I haven't found ONE perfume in the General Catalog that encompasses the coconut-with-tropical-notes perfectly. Right now I'm looking for Tiki Queen which is discontinued. It's a candyish floral, mostly tuberose with coconut.

Thanks to the lovely saralaughs, I have a 1/4 decant of this. Gypsy Queen is by far the best carnation scent I've tried yet. It's a drop dead sexy blend of incense, beeswax candles, soft amber and spicy carnation. I amp rose scents but for some reason this is not smelling very rosy to me. Anyway, I love this and now I'm going to whine about how some of the best scents are from the Carnaval Noir and therefore discontinued.

I found a bottle of the original Midway (finally!) I can see the comparisons to Velvet Unicorn since they are both white fluffy gourmand scents. VU is more of a pink lemony marshmallow fluff where this is funnel cakes with powdered sugar, taffy and cotton candy. I think it's a lot closer to Boo. I smell light salty popcorn if I smell my wrist very close in the beginning but the overall scent is heavily powdered sugar funnel cakes. AMAZING.

I got the sexy man-wolf. I lovvve Snake Oil, and this is definitely an aged Snake Oil variant, and very close to Green Tree Viper because of the mint. It's a lot heavier than GTV. The vanilla is so sweet it's almost giving the blend a chocolate feel, but the champaca keeps it in check. This is such a WEIRD scent but I love it. I'm hoping to grab another bottle from the Lab before it's gone.

Wow, this is a stunner for someone who loves tropical scents during the Summer. Tiki Queen is all that I hoped she would be. Candied tuberose, tiare and coconut FTW. It's intoxicating! I'm loving the faintly tropical coconut-vanilla dry down.

Hod v2 smells very similar to the "no-musk" Infernal Lover, but with a spicy floral kick. It's buttery in the bottle, but on my skin it's a light and creamy vanilla with a realistic carnation note. There isn't much throw, but this would be good for layering. Very pretty.

I was VERY worried about this when I opened the bottle. It was straight-up almond extract like Ghoulish was, and I felt I was going down that road again. Almond and I are mortal enemies. Then...it changed into a delicate amaretto-soaked white cake with a red berry note. I would say red currant because it has a tanginess to it. In the end, the cake note is similar to the one in Lilith's Tea Party (which was ruined by yucky rosewater). I can't say if whether or not I like this more than the released version. Eat Me is a little more "plummy" from the black currant (a favorite). I think the prototype has more of a cake note and the released has less cake and an incensey-berry quality.

I've had this on my wishlist for such a long time that I forgot why it was there. Perhaps I was intrigued by "pink musk, creamy skin musk and soft sandalwood"... I love how star jasmine smells but jasmine notes in BPAL perfumes always makes me retch. I can barely tell there is jasmine in this! It has a white waxy floral note but it's very subdued by the beautiful musks, resins and the sweetest sandalwood I've ever smelled from the Lab. Vasilissa is a lovely skin scent and definitely bottle-worthy.

Glowing Vulva Bath Oil is a lot like the perfume. There's teak, lotus, amber and cream but the bath oil is a lot sweeter, lighter and with a bit of soft powderiness. It's a lovely light scent for Spring and for layering. I think it will give the GV perfume some oomph, and I can't wait for my bottle to arrive.

This. Is. DELICIOUS. Sugared pumpkin puree, clove-spiked oranges, marshmallow (?), and flaky pie crust. Aside from the Blue Pumpkin Floss prototype, I usually hate pumpkin/squashy scents. I guess they work on me when they are mixed with fruity and super sugary notes, and the beautiful Egyptian Amber keeps this from turning into a potpourri/holiday candle nightmare. I'm thrilled I got a half decant from the lovely lucyboo21, I can't wait to wear this in the Fall.

The Twisted Oak Tree is a scent that I love to smell but I could never wear. At first, I can close my eyes and think of a forest with trees covered in moss and ivy. Then it starts to get a weird perfumey floral smell that I can't tolerate. What happened?

This has been on my wishlist forever because of the red musk, patchouli, and lotus. Marianne is mostly red musk and patchouli with some florals. The lotus root made it sweet at first, but then the florals take over and let's just say the notes aren't playing well together. I can see the comparisons to Mme. Moriarty, but she's a far superior perfume than Marianne.

Labores Solis is a chamomile scent that doesn't smell funky on me. I love the frankincense, amber and saffron, and I think if there were no florals in this I would love it. I think it's a lighter, floral cousin of Jacob's Ladder.

This is like iced black cherry tea with a jolt of grenadine syrup and a pinch of spices. I usually hate fruit-with-spice scents, they turn into potpourri but this is different because it's heavy on the syrupy cherry tea notes.

I received this decant from the generous lucyboo21. At first, I can't tell what I'm smelling other than "sweet". It doesn't smell a lot like honey but I do get some beeswax and a faint creamy apricot or peach blossom note. As it dries I smell something like sandalwood in the background but it's fleeting. It's a very feminine, pretty and light scent without being floral. It's one of those skin scents like Velvet Nudie and Giant Vulva that I love in the hot months.

I received a decant in a swap and I don't know if this is original or resurrected. I'm not a floral lover but I like carnation because of it's spiciness. Hod is a creamy lightly spiced floral, and I can't say that anything in particular stands out. The notes are very well blended. I could slather this on the rare occasion that I'm feeling feminine, if I can find a bottle.

Butter Arsenic is dark, resinous and a little powdery. The first 5 or so minutes on my skin is really intense, but it fades leaving a dark amber musk with a faint sweetness. I feel like it's Gun Moll's wicked stepsister, because they both have the same things going on. It's definitely a Fall/Winter scent but I'm glad I got a bottle of this.
