This is resiny, sweet, and herbaceous all at once. This blend could have easily been pomegranate candle on me, but the gorgeous musk, sensuous dark purple lavender, neroli, smooth sandalwood and delicious oakmoss keep the sweetness in check. It does have a bit of a nag-champa smell to it, but without any smoke. It's absolutely divine.

Very sour in the decant. I was worried the cream note would get nasty on my skin like it does with Underpants, but this turned out very beautiful on me. It's a smooth, warm vanilla, almost like melted French Vanilla ice cream. I barely smell any saffron. It reminds me of B&BW Warm Vanilla Sugar lotion but not as intense. I actually like this better than Underpants, and now I think it's time to hunt down a bottle.

Smoky incense and faint cake. It's very sour and blackened incense, like the cheap stuff that has black smoke pour out when it's lit. Swaps...

I read the notes before I tried this because it smelled scary-sweet in the imp. I gave this a chance because I love honey, but the wine/grape notes dominate the whole blend. I can't smell anything but grape kool aid and plasticky strawberry. I just tested 2 grapey scents in a row now, and I need to shower.

I had this on my wishlist because I like rose when combined with musks or resins. In the vial it smelled like Dimetapp cough syrup. It was different on my skin--a sultry dark cherry rose. Then it started to smell too grapey and sweet. I can't do grapes so this won't work for me. So far, nothing can beat Spellbound as my #1 rose scent.

The label sends shivers up my spine. I've seen the little beasties in plastic bags attached to guest injury reports when I worked at a major hotel/casino. Ick, ick, ICK. Once I got past the ick-factor, I tested it out. It did smell like caramelly gingerbread cookies.

There is a slight buttered popcorn smell to this upon initial application, along with syrupy red musk, root beer and creamy vanilla. The popcorn smell disappears and I'm left with Snake Oil, Smut and root beer. I also detect a metallic smell, but that's something red musk does on my skin sometimes. It's sexy-foodie, and I love it. Thank you NYCC angel.

MVJBA: Pancake Breakfast
Gold Dust Kitten replied to iiinterstate's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
Mmm. I want pancakes tomorrow. This smells like fluffy pancakes drowned in butter and maple syrup. I detect some boysenberry which is keeping this from smelling too buttery and sweet. For a moment I got a rancid/sour milk note but it disappeared quickly. It's very well done for a foodie scent but I wouldn't need anything more than my testable sniffy. -
Well since its missing its infernal component, this one would just be 'lover' Or Dough Boy Lover... for both the 'play dough' associations some people had, or in my mind the fact it smells like components in a baked good. It smells like shortbread cookie dough to me (now that its had some time to settle), so I could imagine this is what a baker would smell like being naughty in the kitchen with his skin heating up the dough on his skin a little. or "pg 13 lover" I love the scent, I'm wearing it today as a matter of fact. It definitely lacks the staying power of red musk components though.

White grape honey-wine. I like sweet scents, but I'm not a huge fan of grapes. The grape note fades a bit on my skin, and it's mostly a fruity honey. I wish I could smell the dandelion because it would balance the sweetness out.

OMG a BEDBUG imp?? The label is so icky!

I hoped this would have smelled more "sugary" and bright, or at least smelled like white chocolate. It smelled more like milk chocolate-covered violets. There's something funky about this too. I can't put my finger on it but it's too foody for me, period.

Dark Chocolate, Whiskey, and Cognac Truffle
Gold Dust Kitten replied to abejita's topic in Lupercalia
I got contact high from smelling this in the decant vial. I don't know why I put it on, maybe I thought it would work like the booze in Banned in Boston worked. This is unbearably sweet. I can't do foody + chocolate. There's almost a banana and coffee note in the mix. Must wash off nao. -
I'm a sucker for naughty boy scents and this is amazing! I smell cola, but it's not the mainstream chemical Coke/Pepsi variety but a natural, spicy cola I tasted once. The musk, amber and patchouli gives the cola note a smooth creaminess. Later, it smells a little musty, but I rubbed the oil to break up the scent and it turned into a delicious spicy, incensy floral. Nice...

Wet, it smells like orange bubblegum and honey. On skin, there's the honey from O, and a musky orange blossom with a bit of rose. Minutes later...It turned into sweet citrus baby powder.

I received a frimp of this (finally!). Wet, it's sweet oakmoss, damp dirt and sharp rose, in that order. As usual, rose fights it's way to the front with the mossy dirt notes in the background. It starts to sweeten after several though. I can't see myself wearing this often, but it's nice to have.

London smells like a perfume my great grandmother used. Surprisingly, the tea rose evokes fond memories of my Grandma. It also reminds me of a rosewood rosary my mom has.

Rose and lily soap. It's interesting how it smells somber though.
-
Lavender and jasmine. I appreciate the effects of each essential oil in their individual forms, but not together and not on my skin. I would like to test this on a spot on my pillow to test the effectiveness on my wicked insomnia.

This doesn't seem like a Yule blend, but it does evoke 'mist and dewy trees'. It's a faintly aquatic floral, bordering on old perfume. I get a dingy yellow color from this fragrance. I have to say that I like how the rose doesn't stink like it usually does when combined with other florals.
-
It's boozy chocolate in the decant on on skin for less than a minute, then it turns into Godiva Liqueur spilled on cigarettes on the barroom floor. It disappeared quickly.
-
Lavender and white floral. Light musk. For some reason I hoped it would be more sweet, but I think Beth captured what a fallen star would have smelled like.

I have chestnut brown hair, and I tend to like sweet, rich incensy stuff like Snake Oil, Smut, Now Winter Nights Enlarge, and Spellbound. Candy sweet perfumes like Loli.Goth, Velvet Unicorn, Sugar Skull, and the occasional foody (aka cupcake) MB: Closet, Cake Smash and Beaver Moon. Last but not least, I'm a huge fan of Lady Una and Dorian-based perfumes like my chaos theory and Sybil. And HONEY. O and Womb Furie...yumm. I think they all seem "brunette" to me because they're so rich. I can see sultry red heads and kick-ass blondes liking those scents as well.

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v1
Gold Dust Kitten replied to awesomeoverlord's topic in Limited Editions
CCXXXV: It's a fruity musk in the bottle, and on my skin it's Dorian and Sugar Skull. I lovelovelove Sugar Skull, and Dorian is my new favorite; so this is a huge WIN for me since it's the best of both worlds. Dorian is keeping this from being super sweet, so I don't smell as much of the brown sugar. This is truly beautiful. -
I'm reviewing the original 2005 Beaver Moon. In the bottle, there's soft cupcake and a splash of rum. On my skin, it's like Cake Smash but lighter. Definitely a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. For a minute there's a sour milk note (some others have said 'vinegar'), but it disappears quickly. Drying down, it's still foodie cupcake heaven but I'm noticing a yummy spiciness, almost like a creamy Bengal. I love this.
