The Antikythera Mechanism
Ina Garten Davita replied to VioletChaos's topic in Phoenix Steamworks & Research Facility
SEX. Victorian sex. Victorian sex with a mad scientist. Victorian sex with a mad scientist in his laboratory. You had me at teak, black vanilla and tonka, I bought a bottle unsniffed. This scent is made for my skin chemistry. So sexy/sweet/woodsy/sensual. Perfectly balanced, rich and delicious. -
No. 93 Engine

This is rich, herb-infused mead. The sage/honey combo is unmistakable and completely divine. The benzoin gives a smooth vanilla-like backdrop. Mechanically delicious. Honey is a big problem for me. I adore the scent in the bottle but my skin hates it. This might just be the exception. -

Bathtub Root Beer in a bottle! Creamy, spicy, fresh with a thick, foamy head. I am so in love with this. Smooth and refreshing. Ahhhhhh! -
Soap opera sex on a tropical island after a sensual massage with monoi oil. This perfume is so expertly and harmoniously blended. Gardenia can be such a gaudy bitch, but she's been tamed in this bottle. For evening wear, almost too special, too sensual to wear in the light of day.

Plump raspberries muddled in a glass with orange peel. Fill said glass with rum, top off with tropical juices and shake. Pour into a hollowed out pineapple and garnish with a paper umbrella. Sip, stare at the sunset, repeat.

Delicate and pretty vanilla tempered by gorgeous, soft florals. This goes a bit powdery on me on the dry down, but not enough to make in unpleasant by any means.

A starry night on a tropical island. White sandalwood, a touch of moss and the suggestion of tropical florals. My skin amps sweet, especially with sandalwood so this is really working for me.

This is probably my favorite of the Tiki drinks. That apricot liquer mixed with the rum, brandy and ginger is a real winner for me. I hate fruity scents but something about the way these tiki drinks were blended made them completely wonderful with my chemistry. Screeching Parrot is super sweet and sensational. Fizzy, fruity and so much fun.

Another nose-tickler here. This one just leaps from the skin in a fizzy citrus gin and blueberry explosion. All the notes mingle perfectly. It's the most boozy of all the Tikis but not so much that it smells like I spilled a cocktail down my shirt. Blue Fire makes my mouth water. It amazes me how good this smells, because normally I can't do fruity.

How can something not carbonated be so effervescent? Golden Wave tickles my nose! Juicy, candied, sweet, succulent, refreshing. All of these words come to mind. It's like a blend of fresh lilikoi juice and homemade ginger ale. The tangerine undertones smell like the spray of oils as you peel the skin from the flesh. So fresh, so intoxicating.

Cocktail heaven! Golden, spiced rum with vanilla pods infusing it. This is light rum, to be sure, there is nothing dark in this blend. This perfectly infused rum poured by a sexy bartender with pineapple juice and sweet, sweet coconut cream and shaken to perfection. Served up in a coconut shell, I can feel the tropical breeze in my hair as I take the first sip...

Jamaican rum, almond liquor, orange water, sugar syrup, lime peel, black cherry, vodka, and mint. All the fizzy sweet deliciousness of an ice-cold fountain Coca-Cola with a squirts of cherry and lime syrup. I'm getting slight amaretto undertones and a fresh spearmint leaf garnish. So fun, so summery, so festive. I just love being bellied up this Tiki Bar!

Definitely not supposed to like this, especially since it smells like burnt vetiver in the bottle. But my skin turns it sweet and smoky with the dry down being slightly reminiscent of Havana. Very surprising.

Holy neroli Batman! Tiki Queen starts off as a sweet, slightly fruity floral. Very pretty, very tropical. Then the neroli comes. And puts its feet up and stays. My skin tends to amp neroli and with Tiki Queen it's full throttle. I adore tropical florals so I'm not giving up on the Queen just yet. Perhaps a little age will mellow the neroli and give the other gorgeous notes a chance to shine.

Moana was the real surprise out of the tiki lot. I adore the smell of awapuhi, but thought that it might be aquatic which is never good on me. But it's really not, it's fresh and sexy. A friend described it as a "mermaid with sexy shampoo" which is the best description for this scent. It's definitely a scent to wear on your beach holiday and then take it out in the middle of winter to revisit all the sun, surf, sand and fun.

I've been wanting to review this since the instant I twisted open the cap, but life gets crazy sometimes. This is the coconut scent I've been waiting for! Thick, oozing coconut lava flowing over my skin. Syrupy lemon rain drops splash down. Sweet wood sticks beat a sensual musky drum. Heaven!

When I tried Butterflies and Plovers, I thought immediately of Imp... Devilishly playful: white peach, amber, golden musk and patchouli. -
