First Impression: Uh oh, what is that? Second Impression: I bought a 5ml unsniffed because the notes listed made me jump for joy. I adore sage (Corazon is sage-ariffic) but I don't get any here. I don't get any tonka nor do I get any musk. It smells like a bit of sweet pea blended with High John the Conquerer. Final Analysis: I'm quite sad about this, as the description and notes just really sang to me. I will give it one more try and then up for swap/sale it goes.

First Impression: Amber in it most glorious form to date! Second Impression: An answer to a prayer, it's like O without the honey. Honey tends to turn very 'dirty' on me and this is like the best bit of a wonderful scent that really didn't agree with my skin. I'm thrilled. The amber isn't turning sharp or powdery, the carnation is adding some freshness and spice and the apple blossom is making adding to the sweetness. Oh, this is one very sweet blend. Final Analysis: Can't stop sniffing my hand. Heavenly.

First Impression: Not leather! Second Impression: Sexy librarian, indeed. This is so understated but utterly captivating. Every man should smell this good. This is a second skin fragrance. Warm, warm, warm. Even with the lemon peel and lavender hinting under the layers of amber and tonka, this is an extremely warm fragrance. Final analysis: Or is it that Casanova is just making me warm?

First Impression: Juicy dragon's blood. Second Impression: Dragon's blood is always on the top and for a goodly while that's all I can smell. Once it starts to recede, I can start picking out musks. I smell red musk and Siberian musk, as for the other three, perhaps Beth will share that with me someday. The drydown on this is a bit like a dragon's blood and Snake Oil combo. This is very sexy. Final Analysis: I have imps of all the dragon's blood blends, but still can't decide which one I love best to order a larger bottle. This only makes the choice more difficult.

First Impression: Exotic! Sultry! Heady! Just like in the description. Second Impression: Only Beth could make a Bay Rum that smells this womanly-sexy. This *is* Sex On The Beach. It's sexy and full of glamour. It's that woman in the bikini walking on the beach who looks so elegant that she wouldn't be underdressed in the middle of the grandest ballroom (you know the one, the one that you *wish* you looked like). The tobacco leaf in this is to die for. Final Analysis: If you didn't get a whack at Formula 54, try this. This might just be going on the 5ml list because I want to wear this when I have my full-on summer tan.

This was a giftie from the lab. First Impression: Cool forest vapor. Second Impression: I was expecting dark, thick dirt, but this is much lighter, sweeter and brighter that I thought it would be. A cool, dewy forest, but this is in full sunlight. And it's slightly decaying flowers rather than just turned dirt. It's definitely a "clean" earthy/forest smell, if that makes any sense. Final Analysis: While this won't make it on to my favorites list, I am pleasantly surprised by this blend. It's rather nice.

First Impression: Jasmine! Second Impression: Jasmine! This reminds me of Rapture, which was one of the very first imps I ever got. When I smelled Moscow, I got a hit of bpal nostalgia. My skin really amps up jasmine and for the longest time, that is all I can smell. After a long while a bit of musk starts to peek out. Final Analysis: While I like jasmine, I'm wishing all of the other notes came to play.

First Impression: Oooooh, lovely sage. Second Impression: Corazon has the same juicy quality of Red Moon blended with a big hit of the truest sage. I find it blended so expertly that I can only pick out the sage. Final Analysis: Once the sharpness of the sage starts drying down, what is left is a golden and beautiful fragrance. The label is gorgeous and the scent inside certainly does it justice.

Tenochtitlan is totally tropical! It's like Pele on steriods. Also Perversion layered with Yerevan is like eating drippy peaches whilst sunbathing on the most tropical of beaches...glorious.

What scents are masculine? Gender-neutral?

Villain is very sexy and smells nothing like Old London...but for a fan of westerns, I'd definitely choose Tombstone and Golden Priapus. Black Forest is really nice too. -

Voodoo is very complex and spicy. Good choice. Greed also falls into this spicy, complex and slightly gourmand category. -
I cleaned out my empty 5ml of Dorian and added a bunch of imps of Viola to it. I also added an imp of Queen of Hearts and imp of Eos. It's the most gorgeous springlike blend. I'll have some fun with it when we finally get some spring weather.

Love Me Love Me Love Me! It smells amazing, gets tons of compliments and it works! -
Hell's Belle is the *best* magnolia blend. It's creamy and smoky and gorgeous. Black Dahlia is very nice as well.
-
First Impression: Vick's VapoRub, it's the eucalyptus. Second Impression: The eucalyptus fades into the background and the lovely pine takes center stage. The long drydown reveals very tart, juicy orange. Really refreshing and really wonderful. Final Analysis: This was another that I didn't think I'd like, but thanks to the lab tossing it in, I found another scent that is really wonderful.
-
First Impression: Sour and lavendar. Second Impression: At first, it's very dry and sour. But my skin has this wonderful tendency to amp up any sweetness, so as this dries down, the woods and resin sweetens up and it's really very sexy. Final Analysis: This is very complex, a morpher. I didn't think I'd like it, and I don't like it in the vial, but it's very nice on my skin.
-
First Impression: Whoa, a very "in your face", very sweet floral. Second Impression: I can see this being cloying if too much is applied. The rose notes are just beautiful, the lotus not so much. Lotus seems do to the same thing that honey does on my skin, go all dirty-funky. Final Analysis: So happy I got to try it, but it's just not my thing.
-
First Impression: Minty vapors. Second Impression: The peppermint vapors are so strong that it's hard to tell what's underneath. After awhile I'm starting to pick out that candy sweetness that I get in some of the floral Voodoo Blends like Lobban, Follow Me Boy, Crucible of Courage etc. It may be ylang ylang, but only Beth knows for sure. Final Analysis: A very unusual scent, but nice, I like it.

For those specifications, Love Me is at the top of the list. Divine. -
First Impression: Pleasant buttermint. Second Impression: I was afraid that this was going to be a "thin" scent that would turn powdery on my skin, a scent akin to Snow White, Egg Nog and Grog. Unfortunately my fears were confirmed. Spooky is a soft, thin scent of buttermint with the slightest hint of booze and cocoa. After a bit of drydown, nothing remains but minty powder. I don't know what it is about my chemistry that causes this, but it's a bugger. Final Analysis: The Star, quite similar in scent, works much better on my skin. I bought two bottles of Spooky, one will be going up for swap asap. The other I'll hold on to so I can give it another couple of tries.

Forest & Woods Scents (with and without evergreens)
Ina Garten Davita replied to omly's topic in Recommendations
Dublin and Black Forest. Dublin is wonderful, Skadi on steroids. Black Forest smells amazing on me, it never fails to get compliments, especially when layered with Enchanted Forest. -
This scent had made the wishlist as soon as I read "white musk", but it got passed over for ordering several times. Ivyandpeony had an imp with her on a visit and I tried it on and was instantly in love. I ordered a 5ml shortly after. First Impression: Laurel, warm, sweet woods, a pinch of pepper and a bit of juiciness underneath. Second Impression: The florals and white musk come out in full after a bit of drying down, though the laurel, pepper and woods stay firmly in the forefront. One word description of GofG is "balanced". This is perhaps the most perfectly balanced of any scent I've tried. I love this scent, it has good throw and staying power and smells fantastic on my skin. Final Analysis: Can't wait to get my bottle!

The scent of misty forests, damp alder leaf, and the gentlest touch of white rose. First Impession: Skadi on steriods! Second Impression: I love this, I'd be hard pressed to decide if Skadi or Dublin is the favorite. Damp forest with a suble floral kick, this is a gorgeous scent and blends perfectly with my beloved Legolas in a jar body frosting. Final Analysis: I would never have tried this if everstar hadn't made the Dublin/Enchanted Forest comparison. I'm so glad I did as it's wonderful.

Love Me is the most "red" scent that I've tried. It's wonderful!
