Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

The Dublin/Skadi comparison is spot on. Dublin is a bit deeper and a bit longer lasting, but if you love Skadi or want to try it and can't get your hands on it, order up some Dublin. You won't be disappointed. I adore Skadi, but I'm feeling that I'd have a hard time choosing which I like best.

    Where is this scent?

Merging with "What is this scent?" in BPAL FAQ's.

    Peach, Peach Blossom, Apricot, Nectarines

Katharina~A strong, willful blend with a soft, utterly lovely soul: white musk with a trickle of bright, sharp apricot and orange blossom. (Love this, it's a innocent and flirty and just lovely!) Depraved~ A salacious, lecherous, leering scent - dirty and dark, slapped with a wet sweetness. Earthy black patchouli swelling with apricot. (Juicy and earthy, very nice.) Siren Bewitching, tantalizing and dangerously seductive. A thrilling, exotic blend -- deceptively sweet, but spiked with malice. White ginger, jasmine, and a touch of vanilla and apricot. (I found this to be a bit sharp for my taste.) March Hare A twisted teatime tart: apricot and sweet clove. (Favorite room/linen scent of all!) Yerevan~ Brimming with native fruits and flowers, but also imbued with the power of native earth magicks: apricot and pomegranate with deep plum, wild roses, two Middle Eastern pale musks, white orchid, iris and sweet roots. (A gorgeous fruity floral, one of the best peach/apricot scents in the catalog.) Imp~Devilishly playful: white peach, amber, golden musk and patchouli. (Also a very nice choice, very peachy.) Marquise De Merteuil~ Stately, bold, aristocratic and cruel. Opulent galbanum and amber, glistening peach, and a bouquet of French florals, with a merciless undertone of jonquil and heartless vetiver. (The vetiver ruined this one for me, but for others this may fit the bill) Tamora~ Amber, heliotrope, golden sandalwood, peach blossom and vanilla bean. (Delightful, candy-sweet goodness) Titiana~ A nocturnal bounty of fae dew-kissed petals and pale fruits: white grape, white peach, iced pear, musk rose, sweet pea, moonflower and snapdragon. (Didn't care for this one, too "watery" for my tastes.) Aglaea Splendour~ Three golden ambers, bright musk, peach wine and myrtle. (This went powdery on my skin, but just gorgeous in the vial.) Fae~ A brilliant, ethereal scent: white musk, bergamot, heliotrope, peach and oakmoss. (OMG! As delicate and playful as a fairy) Jack~ The scent of warm, glowing jack o'lanterns on a warm autumn night: true Halloween pumpkin, spiced with nutmeg, glowing peach and murky clove. (For an autumn alternative.) I left Thalia off the list as it's got pear, not peach/apricot.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

To me it's nothing like it. I did not care for Samhain, but I think Jack is really lovely. So no, you may not like it.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

This is my point of smell, but Jack is NOTHING like Samhain. Nothing at all.

    Swank

First Impression: Sweet, tart and tangy. Second Impression: This is cool and fruity and wonderful. The smell is just like the taste of eating a pink and a green SweeTart at the same time. It's crisp, cool and tart, which keeps the sweetness from getting cloying. Final Analysis: So much like a cold fruity maritini, I just love it.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Verdandi is going to be my autumn signature scent. I'm going to add it to my birthday order. All those buttery, juicy apples and warm, glowing amber. Autumn!

The Musk Thread! Need to know what type is for you?

The light musk blends are wonderful! Dorian Zephyr Grandmother of Ghosts Oisin Fae Whitechapel Psyche Juliet Katharina Queen Mab is gorgeous with Chinese musk. Other musk blends that aren't very "musky" on me are... Bathsheba Desire Dragon's Heart Black Forest (the dark musk is really soft and tempered by the woods) Black Rose Phantom Morocco

    Traveling with BPAL

I've got one of those padded essential oil bottle carriers and it is BRILLIANT! It fits 5 and 10 ml bottles and the little bottle holes will nestle 4 or 5 imps together beautifully. I fill it up with all the preciousss I want while I'm away and I put it at the bottom of my carry on bag. It's never been given a second glance at airports.

    The Lion

Ivyandpeony and her goodies came by today and I got the chance to sample The Lion. First Impression: Very soft, glowing amber. Not overly sweet or powdery as amber can sometimes come across. Second Impression: I get a lot of grasses in this, dry and golden, overgrown and green. Very grounding to the golden amber. This a very "earthy" fragrance. Final Analysis: Though this won't become my favorite amber blend, it's lovely, very true to the name and well done.

    Euphrosyne

First Impression: Fresh citrus. Second Impression: The citrus moves to the background as the lovely florals bloom. What a lovely combination. The vanilla keeps the jasmine well in check. And the gardenia is just so fresh and sweet. That citrus in the background gives this floral and bright, juicy feeling. This will be very nice in summer. Final Analysis: Mirth suits this fragrance, it's bright and happy. Very nicely done.

    Thalia

First Impression: Mmmm, fruity! Second Impression: I love pear and plumeria is just lovely but I ordered an imp of this with reservations about the champagne note. It went rancid on me in Shattered and Bon Vivant. And it didn't work out this time either. A rancid undercurrent on my skin that was exactly the same with the other scents that contained the champagne note. Final Analysis: I wish it would smell good on me, I love champagne and I love the other notes. It's a shame.

    Aglaea

First Impression: Sparkling peaches wine. Second Impression: This is so beautiful in the vial but has turned to watered down, powdery peach on my skin. I don't get any amber or musk, just powdery peach. I'm utterly disappointed. I will try again, though, as it's so lovely when wet. Final Analysis: The peach and apricot scents can either way on me, but I just love them. Why don't they all love me? Why!?!

    Ulalume

This was a generous gift, one that I probably wouldn't have tried otherwise. First Impression: Dirt, freshly churned. Second Impression: This smells like stagnant, mossy pond water on my skin. Not working well on me at all. Final Analysis: I'm happy to have gotten to sample this blend, but it's not for me.

    Twilight

When I got gifted an imp of Twilight, I was convinced it was a duplicate that I had already tried, but I checked the reviews and spreadsheet and in fact it's new to me. First Impression: Lavender! Second Impression: The lavender stays, seemingly a single note while Twilight dries. But after a bit it goes completely leaving nothing but jasmine, but it's not overly strong, this is smooth jas. Long after the jas starts to fade, just a hint of golden honeysuckle remains on the skin. Final Analysis: Lovely, just lovely. I don't care for lavender, but it's fades quite quickly and the drydown is so very nice.

    Verdandi

First Impression: Buttery apples. Second Impression: The third times the charm. I struck out with the first two Norns, but struck gold with Verdandi. It's buttery apples and dark amber with a touch of sweetness and a touch of herbaceousness. I love this, it's definitely a necessity. Final Analysis: A gem for the fall, this is going to be my autumn 2005 signature scent.
  17. Ina Garten Davita

    Dirty

First Impression: Strong floral. Second Impression: I didn't find this particularly clean/fresh. Dirty turned strong and powdery on my skin. It's a lovely scent, but I don't think I'll change my fabric softener anytime soon. Final Analysis: Take this review as it is, coming from the Laundry Queen. I am a connoisseur of laundry detergents and fabric softener. I love nothing better than the smell of clean laundry and this wasn't exactly it for me. No offense please.
  18. Ina Garten Davita

    Velvet

First Impression: Cocoa in an unfoody way. Second Impression: The cocoa scent in this is lovely, but unfortunately cocoa and myrrh don't play well with my skin. It's nice for awhile but the drydown goes all dirty. Final Analysis: Happy I got to try this, it's lovely in the vial, perhaps I'll try this in my locket.
  19. Ina Garten Davita

    Wicked

First Impression: Roses, but only for a moment. Second Impression: This is all thorns, it reminds me of when Morticia Adams would cut the heads off the roses before she would make the arrangment of the thorny stems. After it's dry Wicked is all myrrh. Final Analysis: This scent fits the description perfectly, it's Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and the Wicked Stepmother all rolled into one. It's a lovely scent, but it's not for me.
  20. Ina Garten Davita

    Skuld

First Impression: Way sharply sweet ylang-ylang. Second Impression: I get a very "strong perfume-y" vibe from Skuld. It's very sweet and heady but not in any candy or foody way. There is a good long time before this gets soft and pleasant enough to put near my nose, this is a potent one. Final Analysis: Definitely not for me, this would send poor Rob into sneezing oblivian!
  21. Ina Garten Davita

    Urd

First Impression: Blood Lotus? Second Impression: I don't get the grapes, how sad. This smells like Blood Lotus mixed with some leather. It then morphs into smelling just like Loviatar on me. Final Analysis: I'm not keen on this. The leather is throwing me off.
  22. Ina Garten Davita

    La Belle au Bois Dormant

First Impression: Plumeria and sweet pear. Second Impression: Oh, gorgeous. I love this. It's like the scene in Sleeping Beauty (yes, the Disney version), when Princess Aurora is drawn up to the tower to prick her finger on the spindle. It's dreamy, ethereal with that sharp bit of magnolia sitting in the background like Maleficent and her evil spell. Final Analysis: A beautiful drydown, good throw and nice staying power, this scent is a triple threat.
  23. Ina Garten Davita

    Dracul

First Impression: Sharp, astringent! Second Impression: Once this dries, the sharpness is gone. It's warm with lots of balsam and fir, reminiscent of Black Forest. On the drydown, I get touches of mint and orange blossom. On the long drydown it morphs into warm cloves, woods and tobacco. Final Analysis: This is an interesting and lovely blend. It's warm, a bit foreboding and very mysterious. It's almost like a man's version of Formula 54. Very nice.
  24. Ina Garten Davita

    White Rabbit

First Impression: Tea and ginger. Second Impression: This one is a morpher. This has changed several times over the past couple of hours. At first I get the tea and ginger; sharp, tannic not sweet. Then as it dries down the pepper makes the appearance and the tea falls back. It's pepper and ginger steeping in milk. How it smells so much like warm milk, I have no idea. And then after the milkiness leaves, the fresh linen smell remains. It's sweetened up a bit, too. That must be the vanilla and honey, though I don't smell them as such. Final Analysis: This is a very unique blend from the other wonderful tea scents I've tried. Though I'm not keen on the milky stage, I like the other stages enough to consider keeping the imp and perhaps getting more in the future.

    The Star

First Impression: Peppermint of a lovely sort with the barest undercurrent of that cherry/almond mystery scent. Second Impression: Ok the amaretto is gone the instant it hits the skin. No lime here, not much coconut either. Just lots and lots of buttery, creamy peppermint. It's like a big bowl of those restaurant after-dinner mints. Final Analysis: It's a nice and very soothing. I can't wait to try this at bedtime. I will have to wait on my two bottles of Spooky before I decide if I need a bottle of The Star.
