First Impression: Strong vetiver straight out of the vial. Second Impression: I didn't apply it as vetiver smells terrible on me. Final Analysis: I love dragon's blood, but it couldn't save this from vile vetiver.

Based on your description, I'd say let her have a sniff of Aureus Cathedral Namaste Incantation Shadow

Hollywood Babylon is creamy and sweet without being floral. -
Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

Rose scents... Holy grail of all rose scents is Crucible of Courage, smells like a creamy sugar coated rose. I also really like (in order)...Delirium, Harlot, Persephone, The Empress and Rose Red. -
Your Best-Bet "Must Try" Enabling Scents
Ina Garten Davita replied to magpiedee's topic in Recommendations
That's a lovely idea. The essential imp pack would include... Snake Oil a rose scent like Harlot or Delirium something sweet and fruity a'la Hollywood Babylon, Tamora, Imp or Fae a white floral like Magdalene a deep floral like Phantom Queen and something with a fun and funky name like Sin or Perversion. -

First Impression: Bright ginger, fig and cypress. Second Impression: The ginger and the fig really burst out when Nemesis is wet, it's bright and very juicy. But once it's dry it gets much drier and sweeter. Final Analysis: It smells *exactly* like Intruigue without the cocoa! This is a mysterious and beautiful scent.
-
First Impression: Warm and cool at the same time. Second Impression: I can smell the cedar and lots of minty vapors. It's like being warmed in the sun on a very bright, cold day. Such a light wisp of a scent, one swipe was gone in minutes. Final Analysis: Ethereal, lovely and fleeting. I'll enjoy my imp.

This was an extra from the lab. Sol smells *exactly* like Bain de Soleil orange gelee suntan gel. It brings me back to the lying in the sun beside Grammy's pool, trying to get warm because her pool was always so numbingly cold.

First Impression: Oh, I do love the smell of magnolia!!! Second Impression: This is the ultimate in magnolia perfumes. I don't get a creamy vibe from this, it's quite spicy actually. I love that the oleander doesn't crowd out the magnolia, not at all. The musk and spices add a nice sexy kick. Final Analysis: Imagine a southern beauty queen...beauty, brains and a mean streak. She lied, cheated and commited heinous acts of sabotage against her rivals to win Miss Magnolia 2004. This is her perfume and I love it!

First Impression: Sweet and creamy. Second Impression: This is very much like a blend of Dragon's Milk and Desire. That comforting, sweet candy and vanilla...for a while anyway. Until my arch enemy vetiver rears it's ugly head and this blend turn into nasty lemon ass on my skin. Final Analysis: I had to take chance and try Blood Kiss for the name and the majority of the notes. Unfortunately the vetiver took over after about 50 minutes and I had to scrub it off. And damn, it's tenacious and I can still smell it after two washings with dish soap. DOH!

First Impression: Creamy, sweet and creamy, luscious apricots. Second Impression: The fruits in the this are just so syrupy, thick and sticky-sweet. The plum and pom do peek out from behind the apricot, just enough. After the drydown begins, the sticky sweetness is tempered very nicely by the musks and the touch of earthiness from the roots. A delicate hint of floral makes this a bit more sophisticated then I thought at first smell. Final Analysis: I love the peach and apricot scents and Yerevan can really hold it's own against the likes of Imp, March Hare and Depraved.

First Impression: In the vial that "I don't know if it's cherry or almond" scent leaps out. Second Impression: Then it's gone as soon as it hits the skin. It remains sharp for a little bit and then the magic happens. Oh, this is mysterious and lovely. I adore Egyptian musk and red sandalwood and together they make a sexy duo. The star jasmine, which must be more subtle then traditional jasmine, lends a very smooth and subtle spice. Final Analysis: I wasn't sure I would like after the first few minutes, but then Salome morphed into a very "me" scent. Wow!

First Impression: Whoa, this is a sweet tooth's dream fragrance. Second Impression: This is the burnt sugar on top of a perfectly chilled creme brulee, this is deep dark molasses, this is pure Vermont maple syrup (the unrefined kind), this is ecstasy. Final Analysis: Sugar Skull not only lives up to the hype, it far exceeds it. I just love it in all it's dark, burnt, sugary goodness.

First Impression: Sweet cocoa-dusted, grape jellied candies. Second Impression: A very complex blend with a really interesting dry-down. I get a bit of dark purple, sweet wine, a bit of jelly candies with a dusting of cocoa, a dab of sweet pastry and a touch of floral and whiff of incense smoke that keeps it from being too foody. Final Analysis: It's *very* and though it's Mexican Day of the Dead themed, I think it's going to work really well as a winter holiday fragrance. I really like it.

First Impression: Harvest Mo....hmmmm? SUN! Second Impression: I can understand the comparisons that have been made to Harvest Moon, but All Saints' is a bright, sunny, chilly autumn day where Harvest Moon is a cold autumn moonlit night. I get the same buttery pumpkin top notes but the floral drydown is very different, brighter and sunnier but still decidedly fall. Final Analysis: Harvest Moon gave me a four hour experience, this is much less, and while I like this, I still prefer Harvest Moon.

First Impression: Fir needles and eucalyptus. Second Impression: I get very strong leaves and fir for the longest time. Only after long while does any sort of sweet autumn spice start to appear. I put this on the second I had it out of the package, so it's been on for about 3 hours and only now and I'm getting a faint sweet apple scent mixed with the fading fir and eucalyptus fragrance. Final Analysis: I don't get as much autumn from Samhain as I get from Harvest Moon. I was really expecting to be over the moon about this, but no. It's lovely but it's not the "holy grail" of autumn that I thought it was going to be.

First Impression: Black Pearl just screams Florentine iris. Second Impression: The creamy coconut undertones take awhile to appear as the iris just takes over the entire blend. I like iris in Morella, but otherwise I find it headachy and way too potent. I'm not getting any hazelnut or white musk. Final Analysis: The iris fades off after a long while, leaving a soft coconut floral. I don't care for it on my skin.

I can't get over the adorable labels from the Halloween Limiteds. Soooo cute!

Beth's Experimental Blends

Beth's Blend #2 in a cobalt blue bottle First Impression: Sweet amber and thick patchouli. Second Impression: This is very much like a mixture of Haunted and Sin. I can smell amber, patchouli, dark musk and and the tiniest trace of spice. Final Analysis: While I really like Sin, it lacked oomph. Problem solved, this bottle is packed with oomph. It's dark, sexy, naughty and sweet. -

Beth's Blend #1 in a cobalt blue bottle First Impression: *girlie screeeech* Second Impression: What do you get when you mix Snake Oil and Haunted? Pure alchemical bliss. Final Analysis: I once mixed half an imp of Snake Oil with half an imp of Haunted and it became one of my favorite blends. Now I have an entire bottle...let the slathering begin! -
First Impression: Citrus???? Lemon??? No, not at all. In the bottle, I get Tushnamatay with layers of fresh flowers. Second Impression: Lobban is pure, candy-sweet lilacs to my nose. This brings back such memories of the lilac tree in the yard of where we grew up. *contented sigh* Final Analysis: Oh, I adore this. This imp will be treasured and enjoyed!
-
First Impression: Cool and bracing. Second Impression: Grapefruit, mint and a touch of something herbal other than eucalyptus. Sharp and refreshing. Final Analysis: I was delighted to have gotten an imp of this in a most generous swap package. This imp is going to my sister, because the word is sort of an inside joke with us for a couple of reasons. First, our maiden name is "Bianchi" which gets mispronounced in a variety of comical ways and "Banshee" being the most popular. And also because my sister started calling PJ a banshee as soon as he started to crawl and getting into everything.

Beth's Experimental Blends

Beth's Blend #4 in a traditional amber bottle First Impression: It seems to be a marriage of Snake Oil and Blood Lotus. Second Impression: Definitely the spices from Snake Oil, but not the same sweet vanilla. There is lime in here, lime verbena if my nose isn't fooling me. And something creamy and thick...lotus? It's the same juicy thickness I get from Blood Lotus. It's Snake Oil's tropical island dwelling cousin. Final Analysis: Wow, it's really unique and hard to describe. I've got to wear this again to try and figure out what else is lurking in the little bottle of the preciousss. -
The eldest of the Muses, she is Eloquence, and thus, governs heroic and epic poetry, and her eloquence has served to calm quarrels even amongst the surliest of Gods. She is crowned in gold, and holds a roll of parchment or stylus and tablet. Hers is the scent of creative inspiration, and it is a boon to writers, poets and arbitrators: lavender and bright mint with bergamot, verbena, thyme and a touch of sweet orange and warm almond. First Impression: Calliope is straight up almond and lavender in the vial. Second Impression: The almond disappears as soon as it's dry and becomes a lavender-mint-bergamot-citrus spa like essential oil blend fragrance. Final Analysis: Soothing yet invigorating. Not something I'd choose to wear as a perfume, but for a massage oil or spa treament fragrance, this really would suit wonderfully.
