First Impression: An exquisite beauty with a dark, dark secret. Second Impression: It immediately called to mind the excellently dark song Possum Kingdom by the Toadies (edited for length) Make up your mind Decide to walk with me Around the lake tonight By my side I'm not gonna lie I'll not be a gentleman Behind the boathouse I'll show you my dark secret I'm not gonna lie I want you for mine My blushing bride My lover, be my lover, yeah... Don't be afraid I didn't mean to scare you So help me, Jesus I can promise you You'll stay as beautiful With dark hair And soft skin...forever Forever Make up your mind And I'll promise you I will treat you well My sweet angel So help me, Jesus Give it up to me Do you wanna be My angel? So help me! Be my angel Do you wanna die? I promise you I will treat you well My sweet angel So help me, Jesus Final Analysis: Masterfully blended, the combination speaks to me, haunts me. The amber and musk do wonders to keep the roses from being sweet, girly or old lady-ish. I can't stop smelling it or get the images in evokes out of my head.

First Impression: Sweet potent elixir, my favorite kind. A bit of cinnamon, a bit of almond and a bit of cherry. Yes, I can understand the Coke references or even Cherry Coke. Second Impression: Very similar to Eclipse and Inferno, but with a deeper floral touch underneath. This one keep getting deeper and warmer the longer it wears. Final Analysis: I'm thrilled I finally got to sample the Lab's namesake scent. It certainly does justice. It's deep, spicy-sweet, warming and sexy. This one has great throw. Careful application is warranted for summer but in cool months a good slather would keep me feeling warm and cozy. Wonderfully made.

First Impression: A bit of lotus but very faint smell out of the bottle. Second Impression: Still faint even on the skin. Odd, BPAL usually blooms so much once I apply them, but this one isn't doing anything. Just a bland almost diluted lotus scent. Final Analysis: Quite disappointed in my skin with this scent. It fizzled out before it got started. Can't win them all.

First Impression: Weeds, definitely weeds. I haven't ever been to a truck stop that smelled this pleasant. Second Impression: The dandelion rules this scent. It brings me back to when my sister and I would pick them from the yard and bring them to mother because we thought they were flowers. Final Analysis: The tobacco and hemp appear after a time. I don't care for the scent of this on my skin. The weeds are a bit too sharp for me.

First Impression: I love sandalwood. So rich and golden. Second Impression: Smells very much like a girly version of Cathedral. A gothic church after mass that is filled with roses for a wedding later that day. Final Analysis: Resinous scents work very well with my skin and this is no exception. The roses keep this one from being too serious. Lasts much longer than Cathedral much to my joy!

I wasn't planning on reviewing this now as I didn't have a chance to wear it properly. But I was randomly sniffing some of the new imps and when I opened this one quite a bit got on my fingers so I had the chance to contemplate it further. First Impression: Sweet. I love it already. Second Impression: Blood red candy apples rolled in vanilla sugar crystals. Smells like Delirium only deeper, sweeter. Final Analysis: I think Desire is a child born of a union between Delirium and Snake Oil. The musk and patchouli add mystery and sexuality to such sweetness. Another addictive scent. I can't get enough.

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion

I love Bat's Blood. To me it's very similar to Love Me and Voodoo. -
In long-ago Arabia, harem girls rubbed an herbal poultice formed from a blend of sensual, luxuriant herbs and oils onto their bodies to prepare themselves for the Sultan’s pleasure. This lush, indulgent perfume is based on that ancient formula. Sweet almond and Mysor sandalwood enveloped by a heady veil of Bulgarian Rose, neroli, nutmeg, clove and orange peel. First Impression: In the bottle I smell cherry cordials, those lovely dark chocolate covered cherries with the gooey center. Second Impression: On my skin this is a gorgeous bowl of plump, chewy dried fruits and spiced almonds. No flowers here. Final Analysis: I have come to love the almondy scents and this is no exception. It does not last long, unfortunately, but I don't mind dabbing on a bit more as it fades.

I like paypal. I want Beth to have as much of a profit from my orders as possible. It's easy and I've never had a problem with it. I've been a paypal customer since 1999. With that much history I have a good comfort level with them.

First Impression: Gentle mint with the lightest hit of sweet floral. Second Impression: The mint does not last on the skin and the ambergris and moss make a wonderful bouquet. Final Analysis: Reading the notes I had no idea how beautiful this would smell on my skin. In New England when in the hot and humid summer and the weather is very volatile, a thunder and lightening storm comes with a heavy, heavy rain. Cathode is the air after the rain, light and sweet, crisp, cool and clean.
-
First Impression: Mint and menthol, clearing my sinuses like that feeling you get when you first apply Vick's Vaporub. Second Impression: That menthol scent lingers a long while as sharp aquatic notes start to poke through. Final Analysis: I had high hopes for this since champagne notes were listed. Utter disappointment that I can't smell it. I don't care for the cold, sharp aquatic notes. This does not smell like me but might make a nice winter room scent when one has a head cold.

First Impression: I can't get enough of the dragon's blood. I'm addicted and hypnotized by it. Second Impression: Dark and sinister with a golden core. Vin Diesel as Riddick (stop laughing). Final Analysis: This speaks action movie hero to me. All swaggering and sweaty, shooting up the place; torn, blood stained t-shirt. And afterward, the musky sex with the damsel in distress as she tends to his wounds. Worth repeating: dragon's blood is addictive and hypnotic.

I thought I had reviewed all of the scents I've tried up until my new order arrived. This seemed to have slipped through my fingers. First Impression: I so like rosewood, softer more gentle version of sandalwood. Second Impression: Warm and woody with that tangy witch hazel undercurrent. Final Analysis: This is very evocative of an old dusty room with a well polished table with a crystal ball waiting to be gazed into. This will be an excellent room scent.

First Impression: Love love love! One of my favorite notes of all the scents I've had the joy of trying is the dragon's blood resin. It's hypnotic and addictive. Second Impression: My precious dragon's blood married with sweet honeyed vanilla. I'm speechlessly in love. It's thick and sweet in the best way possible. Final Analysis: In a word, orgasmic.
-
First Impression: Lavender, quite pungent. And I don't like it. I feel guilty saying that, I feel obliged to like lavender but I just don't. So very overrated. Second Impression: The lavender fades very quickly and leaves a lemony scent. Not lemon candy or lemon cleaner. Thicker, lemon curd perhaps. Final Analysis: Pleasant, lemony, light, cool. But not me. I think my sister might have an extra along with the imps I chose for her, Lemon Verbena and Phobos. This will fit in just perfectly with them.

The wait being unbearable speaks volumes about how much we all love your skills as a perfumer, Beth. It is in no way a dig against any of the hard work you, Brian, Nella are doing. Any order, large or small is worth every second of the wait. Thank you for taking some of your precious time to let us know what going on. It's very much appreciated.

First Impression: Voluptuous, creamy magnolias and jasmine out of the bottle. Second Impression: All of the notes are masterfully blended so that nothing takes away from the dreamy magnolias. Even the jasmine, which can overpower the strongest of scents has a very gentle touch here. Final Analysis: I couldn't wait to try this, I posted about wanting a magnolia scent shortly before the update. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect scent. The dry down is fresh lush magnolia blossom still on the tree, just like outside around the pool at this very moment. I'm thrilled.

I got this because this is my sign (September 22nd) and I wanted to see if it would suit me or I would suit it. First Impression: I love the color, so rich and deep. I smell patchouli straight out of the bottle, but a perfumed patchouli if that makes any sense. It's the flowers that are doing it. Second Impression: I don't get much fruitness but I do get just the tiniest bite of golden apples. The roses and patchouli harmonize very nicely keeping this blend from being too earthy or too floral. A hint of spice and a touch of moss. Final Analysis: Earthy, floral, a bite of apple and a sprinkle of spice. I wonder if the musk is ever going to show itself. Very nice, smells good on me. I will use my imp and see how it goes.
-
First Impression: Faint cinnamon swirls. Second Impression: I used just a small dab of this. It smells like cinnamon and cloves. I'm waiting to feel a tingle somewhere other than the skin where I just applied it. Final Analysis: Hmmm, no tingle. I wonder if my husband will find it sexy. I don't think I do. But I'm going to try it when he comes home next week. It's fading very fast, minutes really.

How about this one... Chypre? I it how it looks... ky-pree?

Slice open a pink grapfruit and bottle the scent. That's what Beth did. Complete with the oily, fragrant skin and white bitter pith and sweet, juicy pulp.
-
First Impression: Something sharp bites at me straight out of the bottle. A green pointy smell. I'm a little scared. Second Impression: It's gone the instant it's dry, thank goodness. Now all I smell are honeyed, spiced almonds. Glorious and golden. Warm breezes blowing all around. Final Analysis: This scent is my first true "second skin" scent. It melds so beautifully that I don't know where Queen of Sheba starts and my own Andra scent begins. I can't stop smelling myself. This scent is sweet, sexy, glorious all at once. This is my first 5 ml bottle purchase, a leap of faith. Money well spent.

The same thing happened to me. I got my first Hellcat in a swap and it's wonderful and rummy and gorgeous. Then I got another in a swap or with my first order (can't remember) and it's lovely but totally different in scent, texture and color (much lighter). I posted about this way back when.

Doing the happy dance! I just got an e-mail from Brian (thanks, Brian your hard work is truly appreciated!) and my 5/17 and 6/1 orders have been combined and should be on the way tomorrow. This is good news that was really needed today!
